  • @ruby696 congrats!

I’m looking forward to a much lighter week this week. We have a second US tomorrow for “reassurance,” as my OB said, so hopefully we’ll see appropriate growth.
  • @soprano19 I have my 2nd ultrasound tomorrow too! I know that it feel “real” for most people after they see the ultrasound and hear the heart beat, but for me... it just put me back in shock. I’m hoping that tomorrow I’ll get some reassurance and it’ll finally feel really real.

  • @drkoyya I totally get that... I think I felt the same way after our first one. At the very least, once I knew baby was okay, I felt much more like keeping it a secret a little bit longer. But I feel like our families are starting to wonder and we are close with them, so I’d like to be able to tell them.
  • @ruby696 that’s great that they settled! Less pressure for you. 😊
  • Man, I’m still waiting for the “feeling real” feeling! We had our second ultrasound last Monday and a third next Monday. It still doesn’t feel like it’s real. Other than feeling queezy 90% of the time and insanely tired. I’m hoping after I start showing or we really start telling people it will start to feel real, but I have a feeling it’s not going to feel real until we know the genders
  • @bender29 I'm with you on that. I've had two good ultrasounds so far, but I'm still so nervous all the time that it doesn't feel real. I'm trying all the silly things like talking to them and everything, but I don't think it's going to "sink in" for me until I feel like we're in a safer zone (ie out of the first trimester).
  • I had my first ultrasound yesterday. I’ve never had one this early before (9w).

I’m gone again for a class for work and all I want to do is sleep.
  • My last bmb had a catfish and I wonder if she’s still here lurking TB...
  • @Linsbins how did they get found out??

    Aaaaaaaand now I’m super intrigued.
  • @Linsbins really?! I second, how did you figure it out?
  • @Linsbins I need to know more!!
  • @Linsbins We had a catfish over in TTGP who was previously catfishing a BMB several years ago! I wonder if it was the same person??
  • Ohhhh. I remember the great catfish debates of 2015. It was going in a few different BMBs. I’m not surprised if they’re still around.
  • @ruby696 To be fair, I think the TTGP Catfish was a real person using details from her real life who just liked to stretch the truth and tell stories for attention.

We also had a catfish on my last BMB, they are fairly easy to pick out after the board gets going. Eventually their stories/conversations just don't add up.

  • @m6agua I agree. Side note - I also don't believe she's actually gone. TB was too much a part of her life....
  • @ruby696 Same, I had a thought on a user a couple months ago and looked back at some post history, but ultimately I don't think it was her.

  • I just started listening to a new podcast about scammers, maybe they need to do an episode about people catfishing BMBs 😂

  • We did have a catfish in my first BMB but she got caught four months after we moved to Facebook because she posted someone else’s Santa picture and she like super fast left the group before we could block her/him/whoever. 🤣
  • I’m down for all these catfish stories!

I remember one on TTGP from a few years ago but she was just chased away.

The one in my BMB was in the fb group, and I left
over some racist drama right before it happened. I was sad I missed it haha! But she said she had a miscarriage with the one from our BMB, and then she said she got pregnant after we all had the babies. Then she wanted to AW and stick around. Idk what really happened, I wish I knew.
  • After having a couple good nights earlier this week DD is back with vengeance and not wanting to sleep the last couple nights. I'm so exhausted from pregnancy and then her not sleeping really had me hit a wall last night and I just started crying. She wanted to nurse every hour last night but I refused so she'd cry and cry and cry. MH ended up getting up with her and walking her around when I started crying. This morning he said he was worried because he thought I was smothering her to keep her quiet when really she buries her face in a pillow try climb to me in the dark. He thinks I need to take a mental health day tomorrow but making sub plans is harder than just going to work. Pregnancy tiredness and sleepless nights from a toddler getting 4 teeth at once is just not cool.

Also I had really effed up dreams last night. Should we start a what my pregnant self is dreaming thread?
  • @jhysmath I'm sorry you're having a rough time - that sounds brutal. And yes to the dreams thread. Although mine were so disturbing last night, I don't know that I'd even want to share.
  • @ruby696 Mine involved my husband having a pouch like a kangaroo to help gestate the baby. It was really gross and just thinking about how the pouch looked (like raw meat) makes me gag a little.
  • @jhysmath Yeah, that's gross! 😂 In mine, my pregnant self and my two kids were being hunted by people possessed by demons. It was very graphic and disturbing, and I finally woke up feeling really unsettled. Maybe too many Halloween movies for me!
  • I bought maternity clothes today. DS2 was a summer pregnancy so my sleeveless dresses weren’t really working this time. Hallelujah. Why did I wait 11 weeks?!
  • @rox7777 Looking forward to finally busting mine out in a couple weeks. I haven't put away the tank tops and wear them everyday but I think the pants may be a little stretched out to fit this soon and stay up.
  • Has anyone ever subscribed to a monthly box during pregnancy?  Something like one of these?  Do you have one you liked?  Was it worth it?  or one you didn't like or felt like was a waste of money?

    https://bumpboxes.com/

    https://mamabirdbox.com/subscribe-for-yourself

I have mixed feelings about subscription boxes in general, but they are all the rage these days and I've seen some that don't look half bad (not just pregnancy related).  I was also looking at some of the clothing subscription services where you get new clothes each month and thought that might be nice for maternity stuff since my size is always changing and since there's nowhere to shop for maternity clothes near me, but I've never used any of the clothing services either.  Any feedback from anyone that has used these (good or bad) would be appreciated.
  • @pirateduck I personally don't use any subscription boxes, DD has a book one my brother got her for Christmas for the year and it's hit or miss. I think some of the books are put in it because no one else would buy them so they got them in bulk on discount.

One of the moms in my other BMB did the stitch fix boxes and liked it. From what I saw they could select what they wanted from the box and send the stuff they didn't back. She seemed to get a lot of cute outfits out of it. I know old navy and gap online is where I got most of my maternity clothes and even that was hit or miss for me liking it once I was wearing it. I found tank tops at  Target and just matched those with flannels or cardigans I already owned and left them open because I didn't care much for what else I had.
  • @jhysmath yeah Stitch Fix and Thread Up seem to be the two biggest ones for clothing that keep popping up in my searches.  I don't know anyone that has used either.
  • How do chin hairs get so long without me noticing? Do they grow to a half inch overnight?
  • @pirateduck
I’ve been using Gwynnie Bee for over a year and really liked it, but they don’t have maternity wear so I switched over to Stitch Fix. I like Gwynnie Bee because I’d get some clothes, wear them, and then send them back. It truly is a circulating closet. The downside, is that sometimes things didn’t fit or look right and I had to send it back and wait for another item. I subscribed to 3 items at a time for $108/month. Depending on how quickly I wear and send the clothes, it was about 3 items every 7-9 days.

I’ve only had 1 Stitch Fix box so far. The difference is that they send me personalized clothes and I choose what I want to buy from the box. The prices are reasonable but To buy the entire box would’ve been over $300 (6-7 items). I like this for maternity wear because I’ll want to reuse items. Although, I miss “renting” clothes and having a variety.

  • @drkoyya thanks!  Yes, I was thinking rental for maternity clothes and wasn’t even sure is any of the services did that!
  • @pirateduck Honestly I’m a SAHM and my days consistent of errands, toddlers, and school activities. I like a few good pairs of maternity leggings (Kohl’s, Target and old navy are favorites) and a few basic tees. I rotate out cardigans, kimonos, boots, flats, etc to switch it up. I had a more extended wardrobe with DS1 and honestly it felt expensive considering how much wear I got out of it.

Also, I’ve been pregnant Jun-Mar Korea (super hot and then super cold plus monsoons), Feb-Oct in the south (mostly hot and miserable) and now Aug-May (mostly cold with some mild temps). I’ve switched clothes each pregnancy so I feel like basics are the way to go for multiple pregnancies.
  • So as far as the Dream thread @jhysmath I’m a fan. Pregnancy dreams are vivid, weird and disturbing.

@pirateduck I have a friend who did Le Tote for renting some maternity clothes but she works in a professional office in DC so I guess it made sense for her. Personally, I love the Ingrid and Isabelle soft tanks from Target. And I’ve ordered from Morherhood and Gap online. I’m not sure how professional you need to be at your job as to whether it makes sense or what your budget is.
  • I’ve been MIA slammed at work and trying to get ready for our trip tomorrow (5:30 AM flight 😭). Anyway, I did find a dress to wear for the wedding that that I hopefully won’t feel awful in- so yay!

As far as maternity clothes- last pregnancy I just needed basics and then wore maternity scrubs at work. Now I dress up so I need to start investing. I pretty much did Gap, Motherhood Maternity, and Target last time.
  • I agree with sticking with basics. I inherited most of my official maternity clothes from my sister and they were mostly basic, solid colored dresses or long shirts from
Motherhood Maternity or Old Navy that I could wear with maternity leggings or maternity tights.

My office is pretty casual - business casual dressed down, almost, so while I always said I would never wear leggings to work, they became a staple. I also still was able to wear many of the work dresses I had previously for most of the pregnancy, since they were a-line. Wear it until it doesn’t work, I say!
  • I just bought two swaddle blankets from my favorite place because they just dropped some new designs. Lol. I’m getting ahead of myself. Anyone else bought anything for baby?
  • @jhysmath yeah Stitch Fix and Thread Up seem to be the two biggest ones for clothing that keep popping up in my searches.  I don't know anyone that has used either.
I used stitch fix right after I gave birth to DD. I was in that weird stage where my maternity clothes seem weird but my Normal clothes were not comfortable. It was OK, the stylist finally got my style after a few boxes. The single pieces were a little over the price range I would pay. They did send a few cute pieces that I wouldn’t normally get on my own. Overall, I decided to do it for special occasions. It depends how much disposable income you have. In my case I wouldn’t do it for pregnancy specific items. You can get a few key pregnancy pieces (long sleeve basic shirts, a couple of sweaters, a couple of pants/jeans) on your own for cheaper and layer them with your normal clothes.
