Trying to Get Pregnant

TTCAL Week of 10/14-10/20

Re: TTCAL Week of 10/14-10/20

  • @mama_mea - don't put too much pressure on participating here! Life can get crazy busy, that's understandable. And hooray for getting the green light to start TTC again!

@whatsbumpinpumpkin - I'm so sorry for the health issues that have ensued post-MC. For a few days there, I was thinking I was handling things pretty well, but had a come-to-Jesus moment on Wednesday and returned to therapy. I just have a lot of feelings and intrusive thoughts that drag me down, and that was my signal to go back. It might be a good idea now that you're aware that you were subconsciously punishing yourself for what happened.

@mamasloth - Your story sounds very similar to what I just went through. *hugs* Sadly, it seems to be a very common thing to have happen in the 6-8 week part of the 1st trimester. And I, too, have a 10K in two weeks! LOL No HM for me, though, as I am badly out of shape. I haven't gotten my pace back, and forget doing anything super-long distance yet. I'm hoping to be back to HMs by February 2021, since that's when we are planning our next trip to WDW and I would love to do another Princess HM.

  • @ttcbabyodo I need a redo of my finish line photo. I was hideously sobbing. If you do the full you get a super cute Mickey ears hat that says “marathon finisher!” Worth it!
  • @mamasloth Solidarity. I lost an April 2020 baby too plus a Feb 2020 one. It’s been a few months of announcement hell for me. Hope you can get some peace soon.
@mama_mea It’s okay. We all have busy schedules and get it. Plus sometimes the TTCAL / IF gets to be too much and a break is needed, or many breaks.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

Fun story: I came down with a horrible head & chest cold the minute our plane landed in Orlandofor our tip that I had signed up to run the Wine & Dine 10K and HM in 2017, so all of my race photos were horrible. Especially the ones early on in the HM - I look like a zombie. I didn't wind up bringing any sport beans or chews with me for those races, because I couldn't breathe and chew and run all at the same time, so I just sucked on cough drops for the duration of the races. I was so out of it, I barely even remember doing the 10K, lol. I was so eager to get it over with that I actually wound up smoking my previous PR, and was back to the hotel before the sun even came up. MH was still sleeping when I got back to the room.

  • @mamma_mea so sorry for your losses and that your first would-be due date is approaching...sending hugs! 💜 That’s good you have been given the go-ahead to start trying again! I know the feeling about not getting too excited...fingers crossed for you though! And participate as much as you feel like you can/want! These threads do get a bit overwhelming sometimes!

@whatsbumpinpumpkin Sorry you are sick, hope your day off helped you to rest and get better! Glad that you were able to restart your medicine and things are good now. Also good you have gotten the go-ahead to start trying again too!

@mamasloth so sorry for your loss! Glad you had a good appt. yesterday and were given the all-clear to try again next cycle. The announcements are so hard! Sending hugs!

I have mad respect for all you runners...I’m pretty sure I couldn’t even run a 5k!!
  • @ttcbabyodo Thank you! Yes, I've met a couple people who have gone through almost exactly the same thing and it's comforting to not feel so alone in all this. As for the HM, definitely not in shape but it'll be a good distraction, especially because the one I've picked is Santa-themed (hats and beards included in the entry) so at least it'll be a good time. I did the Princess HM at WDW in 2015 and had so much fun! I'd love to go back and do it again someday. Did you dress up? I was the Little Mermaid. :)

  • @mamasloth and @ttcbabyodo it’s a blessing and a curse to live here. After Wine and Dine (in two weeks 😬) I’ll have participated in one race per event this year (Marathon, Princess, Star Wars, and W&D). Sooooo fun but sooooo expensive.
  • @ttcbabyodo Also you must be super fast if you finished before sunrise! Dang!

I got a good qualifying time from a local 10K, so I was able to get into Corral B for the W&D 10K. That was a definite help! But yes, I was motoring along at around an 8 min/mile pace (I'm not saying it was the Sudafed, but it was probably the Sudafed). That pace is unheard of for me. I'm a slow-poke whose comfort zone is a 10min mile.

@mamasloth - The Princess HM is my main must-do race. It was my first ever HM of my running career (2012), and I have done it almost every year since, with the exception of 2017 and 2019. I ran as Snow White for the 2015 Princess HM. :) So let's see, so far I've done Belle (2012), Megara (2013), Sleeping Beauty (both pink & blue combo, 2014), The Incredibles for the 5K and Snow White for the HM (2015), Vanellope Von Schweetz for the 5K, Tinkerbell for the 10K, and Ariel for the HM (2016), and Tinkerbell for the 5K, Merida for the 10K, and Anna from Frozen for the HM (2018). Yes, I am an overachiever, lol. I call the 5K/10K/HM the "Triple Crown" for Princess Weekend, because damn, that is an accomplishment. Oh, and I've also run the W&D HM in 2012 and the W&D 10K and HM in 2017. I'm just addicted to runDisney. We were supposed to do the Star Wars races in 2020, but cancelled those plans after we found out we were pregnant in August, so pushed them to Feb. 2021. Now that we've undergone a MC and are back to TTC, we're just going to stick with going in 2021 instead of scrambling to plan for April 2020.
