Also this. And it probably requires a TW.

This girl who is my brother’s age (29) was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She and her husband were snuggling in bed when she was 35 weeks pregnant and he felt a lump. She went into labor right after having some tests run and they told her she had cancer while she was still in postpartum care. I cannot even imagine. They’ve up and moved to be near a place for treatments and are adjusting to life as new parents. Prognosis seems good for her and she will be starting treatments soon. They did determine the cancer is not due to hormones so it wasn’t because she was pregnant. She’s just SO YOUNG and no history of breast cancer in her family.

  • @ibabyloveb87 oh that’s very sad. One of my biggest fears, actually. I am happy to hear that the prognosis seems good.

  • @ibabyloveb87 Always scary but glad to hear the prognosis looks good. I know another mom with a similar situation who battled cancer immediately PP, but made a full recovery.

  • @ibabyloveb87 that's so horrible but that's good news about the prognosis.  I read a study that showed the hormones associated with pregnancy can make tumors grow faster in breast tissue.  So in a way being pregnant may have helped her find the tumor earlier.

  • @ibabyloveb87 That is my biggest fear, but then again both my great grandmothers died from breast cancer and a lot of other extended family has battled it. Hope she is able to make a full recovery and is able to enjoy motherhood.

  • Man....I love my grandma but she's such a freaking busybody. Yesterday she messaged me to ask if i sent her sister an invite to our baby shower because she hadn't gotten one yet. I said "She was on the list of guests, but mom's in charge of the party. I have zero to do with it. I'm sure she sent it and I got my invite like 2 weeks ago."
So she called my mom to ask if she sent one. I guess it had gotten stuck to somebody else's mail and that person had called my mother to let her know? I dunno. We had this issue with my grandma too when wedding stuff was going on earlier this year.
She's also very anti vaxxer and her speed of posting those kinds of things on facebook has picked up rapidly since we announced the baby....I'm just glad she isnt tagging me in all of them. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

  • @ibabyloveb87 very scary...I'm hoping for a full recovery.

@sassypants2010 have you thought about getting screened for the BRCA gene because of your family history?

@babyroma Aw man. Yeah...I allowed myself to be sucked into an argument with an antivaxer coworker last week. I'm still ashamed of myself. I usually recognize that there is no point in arguing with people who are convinced vaccines are the root of all evil...maybe it was the hormones, but I got into it with her. Ugh...no one ever wins those types of arguments. And now I have to sit in client meetings with her every day knowing she thinks I'm part of the "CDC's conspiracy to control the masses." ((sigh))

  • @ibabyloveb87 I will be thinking of your friend.  I hope she has a speedy recovery.
  • @ibabyloveb87 So sorry about your friend, but it is good to hear that the prognosis is good.

@babyroma I am sorry your grandma is being a pain. 😣
  • Just catching up and wanted to say hi!
@ibabyloveb87 i hope your friend has a speedy recovery!
@babyroma sorry your Grandma is a pain - they seem to do that sometimes.
  • Does anyone watch Call the Midwife?? I love it. My husband thinks I’m nuts with all the baby birthing. Ha

  • @ibabyloveb87 that show is amazing! I am a glutton for punishment because I have watched it every pregnancy and my husband tells me it is going to freak me out. I also watched What to Expect When Expecting while pregnant and that actually did freak me out.

  • I am a little perplexed since my check up with my doctor last week, he is sending me to the high risk doctor in two weeks for extra measure.  But he says I am still not high risk, he just wanted a second opinion because my first and second were born with club foot even though he didn't with my third........ I just have this lingering suspicion the us tech from when I fell and broke my foot saw something that my doctor wants to double check with out alarming me.  Gah! My hyper anxiety is in overdrive with this out of the blue appointment.
  • @sassypants2010, ugh I hate when doctors try to not make us nervous and make us more nervous instead.  Hope everything turns out to be fine.  @Swiftlet just posted about possible club foot in her ultrasound.  Maybe you two should talk.

  • @sassypants2010 I hope everything is ok.
    sassypants2010
  • @SassyPants150 I'm sorry they are leaving you in limbo like that.  Hopefully it is just a second opinion and everything is good.

  • I asked H the other day if he was going to start doing my laundry for me soon and he said "well, you're not gonna like it! You won't be able to find anything because it will be put away in your drawers!"
His coworker told him not to do it for me...because it's been 12 years since his wife asked him to do the same and it's never stopped haha.
I wouldn't really mind doing it myself, except for the fact that we live 2 doors down from the laundromat and have 2 flights of stairs to climb with a big ole basket of clothes. I think I might put in unit w/d on my priority list for when we move next year!
    brookert615DDRRT1982leksiLchipsnsalsa20
  • @babyroma, would he be willing to do the hauling if you still folded your own and put them away? When I get big H has to reach into the washer because I can’t reach but otherwise we both continue to do laundry.
    brookert615leksiLSwiftlet
  • @SassyPants150 hoping all is well with your LO ❤️
    sassypants2010
  • @jvk2012
i've told him I would fold it and stuff but he doesn't believe me that i would actually do it. poor man is infinitely neater than I am and it makes him crazy.
    jvk2012
  • @SassyPants150 thinking about you and hoping everything is ok.
    sassypants2010
  • @babyroma - I think it's a great idea for the husband to do laundry. It is a traditionally female role that is well suited to men. There is measuring and carrying heavy stuff around and isn't too complicated haha. When I met DH he had never done a load of laundry in his life and now he is the primary laundry-doer. He does leave my clothes folded in the basket and sometimes they stay there awhile

Another option if you have it is the wash and fold places! When I didn't have an in-home W&D I would take a laundry bag down once a week and they would give me clean folded clothes the next day - easy peasy!

  • Thanks all. I am hoping it is just clubfoot worries because I definitely can handle that since two of my kids have dealt with that process and we have amazing doctors we have worked with before.  But it is uncharacteristic of my doctor to send me to a specialist for that since he didn't for the others after my first was born with bilateral clubfoot.  @Swiftlet it may be scary at first but see if you have a Shriners children's hospital near you that you could get an appointment with in the first month for baby because they are pioneers in orthopedic needs.

  • @sassypants2010 love Shriners and what they do! Spent a lot of time at one growing up with a sister with Spina Bifida.

  • @babyroma, H is the clean/neat freak in our relationship too. I feel ya!
  • Well I’m panicking. DS currently attends a preschool/daycare that I love, and prices are extremely reasonable. But they only take ages 2-5. With us closing on our new house today, I’m starting to look for a new daycare they can both attend and that is closer to our new house. There is one super close to our new house, but the cost for infants for one month is what I make in 2 weeks. That doesn’t include the price for DS 😱And they don’t allow part-time for infants, which is what I really need.

  • @daffodil_shoe that is stressful!  That is part of why I had to stop working was because the cost of daycare was my whole check with two kiddos and wasn't worth having someone else getting my check while I missed out on my kids.  Hope you find something more reasonable and flexible for your situation.
    daffodil_shoe
  • @daffodil_shoe, congrats on closing on the new house. We pay almost my 2 week salary to daycare for DD. Next year nearly my entire take home pay will go to paying daycare for baby and preschool for DD. It sucks!
    daffodil_shoecraftywitch
  • @daffodil_shoe Same here- infant daycare is 2 weeks take-home pay for me. Toddler is 1 week. 1 week salary isn't nothing though and when you consider retirement matching and medical benefits it still makes sense for us. I hope you're able to find a situation where the numbers work out better for you!
