I was feeling slightly sick yesterday then didn't fall asleep until almost 4 last night, so I called in sick to work. I feel kind of guilty about it because I usually have to be almost dying before I would consider missing work, but I keep reminding myself that I can't be present for my clients if I am half asleep. They already get enough weird preggo brain moments when I am well rested. 🤷‍♀️

So my weekly random: I just applied for a promotion to be #2 at my workplace. I think I’m a competitive candidate and it would be an excellent professional opportunity for me. It’d also be a pay raise. Full of excitement and suspense now that it’s a waiting game for interviews. Will also be interested to see (if I were to get it) how taking on a role of such high level responsibility will play out as a new mom.

Earlier this year my husband and I suffered a MC. It just occurred to me that tomorrow (9/26) would have been my due date had we not lost that pregnancy. Coincidentally, this baby will be due on 2/15, exactly a year after my MC.

Life sure is funny sometimes.

Anyone know if you can take zicam rapid melts while pregnant? They are mostly vitamins....and I could call the dr but I’m not desperate...yet. Haha they just make a cold so much shorter!

I have no idea why or how but for like two weeks I have been locked out of the bump on my phone and computer. I emailed them asking what is going on and magically it works today..........

Well I just watched a video of a little boy meeting his sister for the first time. Whattttt was I thinking watching it at work because I started crying a little TOO hard and I am the only one here and of course a customer came in while I am sitting here crying.  Not embarrassing at all.

My mom just called to ask if it was okay if she made a photo guestbook of sorts for my baby shower. She's so excited about this! Also, how cute is this invite!? She was going to plan it as a winnie the pooh theme, but found narwhal stuff at party city and decided it was way more me, and more unique!

When are y’all doing your baby showers? I think we discussed this somewhere else but I can’t find it now. I may have to do mine at the end of October to make sure my mom can be there. Feels early but at least I’d miss the holiday rush? (Well except Halloween 😊)

@nhh11 I've been feeling a little silly about mine being so early (nov.2nd) but it works best. No way in heck would I drive the 5 hours home for a baby shower in January! The winter turns nasty around the new year and early november avoids the holiday craziness!

@nhh11 @babyroma Mine is also Nov 2nd. We wanted to avoid the holidays when people are already travelling a lot. Especially because my dad is hosting and he lives in NJ whereas the rest of the family/friends live in VA. So it's a bit of a hike for everyone involved.

The crib and mattress arrived a few days ago and I can't wait to see all of it installed. But first, we need to empty the future nursery and then I need to paint. 
We're also going to start remodeling our basement. I have a carpenter coming to my house tonight to give me a quote to build and install built-in bookshelves with cabinets on the bottom. Once this is done, I will redo the floors if I am still able to. Right now, it is carpet and I want luxury vinyl plank (wood). I hate carpet and with a geriatric cat and now a kid, this will be more sanitary. They will be able to have accidents on the floor and I won't worry at all about cleaning it properly. We will also buy brand new furniture to replace what we have. I can't wait!

Rant ahead...

I’ve had lots of people congratulate me on our 2nd boy. It’s been great!

But I’ve also already received quite a few comments about trying for a 3rd for a girl. It makes me want to scream. Why are people so obsessed with “one of each”? Or thinking that a woman can’t be happy without a daughter?

Would I have liked a girl? Sure. But do I feel incomplete? Definitely not. I love that my son will have a brother. I love being a boy mom. This 2nd boy will be completing our family, and I am fine with that. Why can’t other people?

@daffodil_shoe Ugh! That drives me bonkers and I totally agree with you. Honestly every scenario with a little one on the way sounds great. DHs side of the family is all boys. He’s one of four and his brothers have all boys. And honestly seeing my nephews all being each other’s buddies is the cutest thing in the world.

@daffodil_shoe OMG this makes me want to stab someone. We just found out today it’s boy number 3 and the trying again for a girl comments are the worst. Stop implying there is something wrong with my healthy perfect boys. If we decide to have a 4th it will be because our family doesn’t have that complete feeling yet not because we are trying for a girl. Although truth be told I’m super disappointed it’s not a girl.
I could rant about this all day.

@daffodil_shoe Yeah a lot of people have seemed disappointed for me which makes me want to give them a slap. Two boys as our complete family is going to be great! Nothing is missing here!

@daffodil_shoe @clee5711 @craftywitch This is baby #3 for us, we have two girls. And I love having two of the same. I’m hoping for a third girl because I like the vibe of all things little girl at my house. I’ll be happy with a boy though, obviously. It would be nice to experience that mother-son dynamic, and I knew it was 50/50 going in. However, EVERY person who has been told I am pregnant has said they really hope it’s a boy for my husband. At first, I thought people just didn’t know what to say, but they keep freaking repeating it. It’s beyond annoying. My mom has even thrown out girl variations of DH’s name to “make him feel better if it’s a girl”. 🙄

@nhh11 looks like my sprinkle is going to be January 12. We don’t want to do it in December because of there being so few weekends before Christmas!

We were looking at Jan too but with this being my first, I felt a little freaked out by waiting until so close to my due date to get so many of the items on my registry. The holidays are definitely the downside of doing it in December. Well probably either go super early in late Oct or do Dec 7.

@daffodil_shoe @clee5711 @craftywitch I don’t understand why anyone makes any comments about people’s families! I know they do but why do they feel like they need to! We have one of each right now and people question why we are having a 3rd if we already have one of each! Umm probably because we want more kids and we don’t care what people think the “perfect” family is! I’m just happy if my kids are happy and healthy! People should mind their own business!

@daffodil_shoe, since I have a girl and am having a boy I have gotten all the comments about how I can stop now and how perfect it is to have one of each. My reply is: we were going to be done at 2 no matter what sex they were.

I think it's funny too that people make one of each comments. I'm a first time mom so there isnt that "are you trying for x sex this time???"
Mine have all been from my brother and his wife about how I need to have a boy first so that he can be the protector of any subsequent kids. Because I guess girls can't do that???
Ridiculous. Ask my sister who's the better older sibling!

Just stopping by here quick to complain about moving. Thank goodness I get out of lifting the heavy stuff!! I’m in charge of actually packing most of the boxes. But omg I’m so over it! And to make it worse, all of our stuff has to be stored at my in-laws’ since our closing date was pushed back. We are technically “homeless” for the next 1.5 weeks. Then we will have to pack it up in a U-haul when it’s time to move in. Sheesh.

I'm too nosy for my own good. Haha I've got my registry done, with the exception of maybe some cute clothes pending Anatomy scan, so theres really not much need for me to go in and look. But I did look today and I saw that my aunt bought us the first gift! (The carseat!) I'm so excited!

@babyroma no judgment here! I did the same thing with DS1! I didn’t know who bought the stuff, but I liked seeing it disappear from the registry!

Ugh 12 hours later from starting....we are at my in-laws’ all settled in. It was bittersweet leaving our house for the last time. While I’m happy to be moving to a nicer house with more land and better layout, I will miss our old house. It was our first house we bought. Where I waited for DH to return from deployment. Where we brought home two dogs. Where we brought DS1 home from the hospital, and raised him the last 3.5 years. Lots of memories there.

@daffodil_shoe - I applaud you for doing this. I wanted to move this fall but it was just too overwhelming. Hope your stay with your in-laws is brief and drama free!

@leksiL oh my in-laws are great! Very easy to get along with. I’m much more annoyed that we are moving all our stuff twice. So inconvenient! DH swore it would be easier to move now than after DS2 arrives.

@daffodil_shoe Moving is rough! But I think your husband is right: could you imagine moving all your stuff and taking care of a newborn? Or at least that's how I'm justifying moving right now.
