@k_mama91 Social media defeats the purpose of any reunion for folks my generation or younger, really. Plus by the time you hit 20 years out of high school you are either 1. still in contact with the people you want to see and already know what they're up to or 2. couldn't care less about people you haven't spoken to in 20 years
I'm a little late to the game here but have loved reading everyone's responses!
I was a theatre nerd - I was in the stagecraft program and had a key to the theatre and basically took over the teacher's office. I was in the school musicals and also did lighting design for the shows and for other schools who rented out the theatre. I got along with most everyone and would say I was second tier popular and hung mostly with the 'weird kids'. I played chess with my history teacher during class and was friends with the librarian. I partied a lot but still got good grades. I didn't skip school until grade 11, but that first skip was pretty monumental - my best friend and I took a 7 hr bus trip to go see a punk band we were friends with and spent the night on a random sod farm. I wore mostly black and white and a lot of vintage inspired looks. My grad dress was custom made from this awesome shop I used to go to (oh the days of disposable income) and was modeled off a 1928 Chanel gown and featured 30yrds of tulle for the skirt. My date was my gay best friend. We won the dancing competition (and can still pull off our signature swing moves whenever we get together).
Who did I want to be? Someone with a more stable life? I bounced around a lot between family houses and had moved out of both my parents houses by the time I was 14. I was lucky to have more family that was there for me. But despite all the crazy stuff happening in my home life, school was a pretty good time for me (maybe because of all the crazy stuff).
First job (other than working for the school theatre, which I got paid to do) was at Claire's Accessories. They let me pierce peoples ears when I was 16. Yikes.
