Do I really need one? We are really looking at getting another loveseat for our living room for extra seating, and a rocker is like the same price as some of the loveseats we are looking at... IDK I'm just like not a rocking chair kinda person.
@stashattack - It's really nice to have some seating in the room that the baby will be sleeping in for nursing sessions. As for a rocker, my DD didn't really like the motion until she was much older, probably 10 months or so. Now she gets rocked til sleepy every night. But during those first few months, I had to stand and rock her for her to soothe.
Favorite rocking chair/glider: Windsor Glider and Ottoman
Cost (either actual dollar amount, or just $, $$, $$$, etc.): $125
What you like about it: This was something my mom never had with her 7 kids, but always wanted. So when I found out I was pregnant, she swore she would buy me this. It works great! As I said above, during the first few months, I mainly used it for nursing sessions. And the ottoman was so helpful for positioning purposes. Now DD1 gets rocked in it every night before bed.
We didnt have a rocker/glider for dd, though we do have a sofa bed in her room & its nice to have somewhere to sit to read her bedtime story etc.
When we move next year to a bigger house, im contemplating this loveseat rocker that i saw and fell in love with a few weeks ago but i dont think we need it so not sure I’ll spend the money on it.
For me, a rocker is a must in the nursery. I spent many hours rocking ds, from feedings, going through leaps etc. it was a life saver. We had one very similar to @marebear15 but didn’t use the footrest much, just because I’m so tall and didn’t need it.
We don’t have a lot of space this go around so looking for just a rocker. I really like the style of this one.

@kbrown2385 - That's a beautiful rocking chair! The only thing I would think about is not having any cushioning on the arms. I know I used the arms to rest a lot when nursing, but if you think a pillow would suffice for you, I'd go ahead and get it. I also hated nursing pillows, so arm rests are a must for me.
@marebear15 I’ve also been looking at this style specifically for the cushioning lol. I can’t decide! I love them both and just need to bite the bullet on one.
@stashattack I love having a comfortable chair with armrests in the room where baby sleeps. I have a rocking chair, but don't really use it for rocking. Now that DD is done nursing, we only sit there if she's sick and needs comfort.
I bought a glider with ottoman of FB and used it twice. I believe it was due to it being a space issue to be honest. When I needed to rock I ended up using my birthing ball that I still had inflated and just bounced/ rocked n it while DD was going through her witching hours Hahah.
This time around I'll try and put the glider in a more accessible area to use and most likely by a infant rocker
@kbrown2385 I really like the style of that one too! I found one at a tues morning (sort of like a home goods store, if not familiar) and I was a bit worried it was too low to the ground and I wouldn’t have the core to get up easily.

IME, it depends on your living situation. We kept our babies in the room with us until they weren't nursing at night anymore, so I just nursed in bed at night. During the day, I nursed in the living room. So I just used a comfy armchair (or whatever seat was available). There were some times where I wished the comfy armchair was a rocker, but it certainly wasn't a necessity.
Still looking at chairs. I have wide hips so I'm not a fan of chairs with arms because I feel squeezed in and I'm having trouble finding a rocking chair withOUT arms. Though that one @leprechaunlady showed looks nice and wide, but I don't know that it's available in the states. I think I might just get a comfy chair without arms and get this if I need the rocking motion. Bonus is it's portable so I can turn virtually any sitting area into a rocking chair. Maybe something you'd be interested in too @stashattack
@peppyj9 im not sure if they do international delivery but the brand is mamas & papas if you want to check it out. That one is the loveseat version (there is a single seater version) & it comes in a range of colours too. I saw it in store a few weeks ago & is so gorgeous in real life!
A rocker/glider is a must for us too. I used it so much for DD and we actually just took it out of her room at 3 years old. We had a a dutailier glider and ottoman that I got for real cheap off facebook marketplace. Similar to this https://www.buybuybaby.com/store/product/dutailier-reg-ultramotion-bella-classic-glider-and-ottoman-in-buckwheat/1042018889?keyword=dutailier-glider-rockers I did not think it was comfortable enough though but it may be because it was used/older. I want something more padded this time and good arms rests are important to me for nursing. Also I used the ottoman a lot for positioning. Otherwise, it served its purpose very well from nursing to cuddles/rocking to sleep.

This time, I am looking at something like this.

I like the power recline but I am not totally sold yet.
