Vomiting - how much is too much ?

Hi Ladies!

I am 7 weeks pregnant. Things took a turn this week and I am vomiting so much that I haven’t been able to keep any food or water down since Monday. (It’s thurs now) This is unlike my first pregnancy where I had only slight nausea.

I haven’t been able to find any concise answers from Dr. Google, have first OB appt on Monday. I’m wondering if anyone is / has experienced this? At what point, like how many barfs a day, does it become a cause for concern?

Thanks all! I hope you’re all doing better than I am :)

  • @Msmelissarae I was definitely where you were with my first pregnancy and ended up needing iv fluids for dehydration. I was also put on a medication called diclegis which helped for a bit. I would try and get seen tomorrow if you can.

I honestly just started puking today at almost 8 weeks with this pregnancy and haven't kept anything down all day and may consider going in tomorrow if it continues.

Being this sick and dehydrated is rough. Hang in there and I hope you find relief soon.

  • Definitely call. They can prescribe you something before your first appt. I started my usual extreme nausea at 5 weeks (7 weeks now) and don’t see the midwife until 12 weeks. I was prescribed diclegis and Zofran and am supposed to call in when I need IV fluids.

It’s definitely not great you haven’t kept anything down since Monday. Have small snacks throughout the day and sip on water all day.
