  • EDD/W+D: 3/18, 11w6d

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): bee hummingbird

    Upcoming appts: Thursday NT scan

How are you feeling?: nauseous and tired. Perpetual bad taste in mouth. Always thirsty but sick of drinking water. I’m a bucket of complaints lately  :#

Rants/Raves: The perpetual bad taste in my mouth is really getting to me lately. I think I remember it going away. I can’t handle this for the whole pregnancy.

    Questions: none right now

GTKY: What are you most proud of? Probably the sprint triathlon I trained for and completed. I wish I were that active now.

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): lime

Upcoming appts: 9/11--we're doing a blood draw for the NIPT and hopefully discussing additional testing options (an NT additionally seems to be standard) plus other blood draws. So--that's one week from tomorrow. I was fine (as in, my PGAL brain wasn't acting up) up until like yesterday, so glad it's soon, but now a week seems forever away.

How are you feeling?: Today I'm alright. I thought I was getting sick this weekend, but thank goodness I'm not. Still nauseated big time like every other day. Today I feel alright? But I'm sure later I'll feel nauseated. I've been burping all afternoon, so yuck.

Rants/Raves: Rave: I LOVE teaching, and I am good at it, and it makes me feel good--though after my first class I am EXHAUSTED and then I have to go teach another. Rant: my phone is dying and I have the cord but I don't think I have the plug. Luckily my office hours end soon and I can go home, though when I'm home I feel like ::insert garbage pail emoji:: so blah.

    Questions: none rn

GTKY: What are you most proud of? That I've had my lit mag for over ten years, in print & running smoothly with little hiccups. AND that I am about to graduate (FXFXFX) w/ my PhD this December.
  • @kagesstarshroom so exciting on PHD! Good to get that done before LO’s arrival!

  • EDD/W+D: 3/20, 11w4d

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Finding out on 9/28!

Baby is the size of a(n): Brussels sprout

Upcoming appts: Three for September - 9/10 12w checkup, 9/17 NT scan, 9/28 elective ultrasound to determine sex

How are you feeling?: Still many food aversions but the queasiness, while still around, isn't as bad as it was earlier.  Always tired!

Rants/Raves: This month is a fun month for the pregnancy with two ultrasounds back to back - I love getting peeks at baby but hoping everything looks ok in there!

GTKY: What are you most proud of?  Overcoming my panic attacks when public speaking.  Starting in middle school, whenever I had to give a speech for class, I'd have a panic attack mid-speech and have to run to the bathroom.  (Weird because in 6th grade I participated in a multi-school speech event because my English teacher liked my how-to speech on making pipe-cleaner penguins lol.)  This lasted through mid-college.  My major required a public speaking course which I was terrified to take, but somehow taking that class broke me out of my cycle of panic attacks.  The culmination of this accomplishment - I graduated college with a 4.0 GPA and was asked to be a speaker during the commencement ceremony (in front of thousands of people and streamed online.)  I did it and shocked my family that I didn't pass out or something doing it haha.

    EDD/W+D: 3/18,  12 weeks!

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: We just found out that we’re having another girl. ❤️

Baby is the size of a(n): apricot

Upcoming appts: NT scan on Friday, Midwife Appt on Monday

How are you feeling?: Pretty pretty pretty good! I just thoroughly enjoyed some sourdough + cream cheese + honey. Nausea is in the rear view, I think. My NIPT results came back low risk. I can find bb’s HB with my Doppler now if I need to. I’m edging into noticibly pregnant territory.

Rants/Raves: I remember loving second tri last time around and I’m looking forward to it. This kid has basically the same due date as my daughter, so my maternity clothes are the right seasons AND all the baby clothes will be. It’s funny — I’ve been buying mostly gender neutral stuff (esp the expensive stuff) cos 1. F gender norms and 2. what if we have a boy next? I’m curious to see how my thinking around DD1’s clothes change now, if it at all... I do love some ditsy floral prints.

GTKY: What are you most proud of?
Well, hmm. A series of things. Finishing a group of ten oil paintings that took 4 full-time years. Going to therapy and doing the hard work. Going back to school to become a nurse and earning a 4.0. Being a thoughtful nurse advocate for vulnerable patients. Most recently: birthing my daughter, then thriving through a very difficult year in which a tornado hit our house when kiddo was 2mo, meaning we had to move out for seven months and oversee massive renovations while raising a kid for the first time and, yanno, meanwhile I started graduate school while also working part time.

    Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): Ping Pong ball. But I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and the size correspondence for that is a donut hole. So I'll be eating a few of those to celebrate

Upcoming appts: Just got home from my check up with my OB. NT Scan is tomorrow.

How are you feeling?: Good. I only really had nausea in the evenings and that has subsided. My boobs are starting to feel better and not so sore. I'm tired but it's the first week of school so tired is pretty standard.

Rants/Raves: Rave: I went into my appointment today and was totally not expecting an ultrasound. We got to see baby and it was moving around. Cue the unstoppable tears.

GTKY: What are you most proud of?: A few years back I was really into running. I ran two half marathons and a 10 miler all in one year. I had said that I don't think I need to do that again but now I kind of want a new 13.1 sticker and I like to make the medals into Christmas ornaments so I might do another like a looong time after baby is born.

@orbmaker You are a rock star! To overcome a tornado hitting your house alone is pretty amazing, never mind all of the other stuff!

  • @orbmaker :o:o:o just one of those is super impressive. You’ve achieved a lot to be proud of!

Baby is the size of a(n): lime

Upcoming appts: Friday! I can’t wait.

How are you feeling?: Just tired. And fat. And irritable.

Rants/Raves: My schedule is nuts right now. I am working 10-12 hours every day. But I love what I do! I’m really thankful I get to teach music everyday and I have some awesome kids!

    Questions: None atm

GTKY: What are you most proud of? Oh man, that’s tough. Probably just being a working mom? Pumping/breastfeeding for 23 months is up there.

I got an award a few years ago and was recognized by my professional organization for being the “outstanding young choral director” in my state. That was pretty awesome.

  • @kantobean kudos on pumping that long! Pumping was one of my least favorite things and I am so impressed by working moms.

  • @silverhope perpetual bad taste in my mouth too! It’s like an annoying metallic taste, like I have coins in my mouth. I guess it’s called “dysgeusia”. It says it’s normally during first Tri.

@kailanae food aversions going strong here too. All I want is more options 😩 such a task figuring out what to eat everyday.

@orbmaker yay for a girl!! I think you’re the FIRST one in our BMB that I saw has a girl! I feel like everyone so far has said boy!! My NT scan is also Friday! Fx for both of us! And oh man, tornado!! So scary! Glad everyone was safe!

@kantobean omg 10-12 hr days!! I took two weeks off and now I’m on modified duty hahaha clearly i have very little resiliency and am a big freaking baby

    EDD/W+D: 3/24 11w2d

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: finding out! Probably going to some ultrasound place at 14 weeks to find out!

Baby is the size of a(n): lime

Upcoming appts: NT scan on Friday! So nervous but hoping everything looks good so we can start telling more people!

How are you feeling?: Not miserable but just...over it! Food aversions and fatigue. Nausea has gotten better, just random bouts.

Rants/Raves: No new rants, same ole same old first tri woes. But I’ll rave about this app! I’m so glad I found it - I love talking to you all! What a great community and support!

    Questions: None

GTKY: What are you most proud of? I would say going from homeless at 19 to becoming a successful, independent woman! Dang proud of that!

  • @silverhope well to be fair I stopped pumping after 12 months, but continued BFing until 23 months. But pumping at work sucks! Literally.

@mrsc918 getting out of homelessness is a serious accomplishment! You’re awesome.

  • Had an appointment today and finally got to hear baby’s heartbeat! Magical. So I guess we’re officially telling people starting...now. This is really happening.
  • Had an appointment today and finally got to hear baby’s heartbeat! Magical. So I guess we’re officially telling people starting...now. This is really happening.
  • @kantobean yay! I absolutely love hearing the heartbeat! I feel really lucky that my OB seems to be ultrasound happy so I’ve been able to hear baby’s heartbeat a few times. We’re planning on doing a social media announcement this weekend but I have no self control either so a lot of people already know lol
  • Yay @kantobean!  I decided to pull out my fetal doppler this morning after having a pretty hard fall last night tripping over a tricycle in our hallway.  Took me about 10 minutes to find baby but hearing the quick little heartbeat is so relieving!  It was my first time hearing this one's heartbeat too - the only other heartbeat measurement I've had so far was done visually via ultrasound.  I think my midwives will start using the doppler starting with my 12w appointment this week.

  • @kantobean yay!! That is one of the moments when the pregnancy starts finally feeling real!

@kailanae I have been considering getting a Doppler but I’m honestly not sure if it would help my anxiety or just make it worse!

AFM, I just had my NT scan yesterday and everything looked great! They also told me my preliminary results (first trimester blood screening) cane back low risk! So relieved and finally feeling happy and excited! Just have my second trimester blood work to do for other risk factors but riding this high for now!
  • EDD/W+D: 3/24/20, 11w5d

Team finding out/pink/blue/green: finding out by end of the month!

Baby is the size of a(n): lime

    Upcoming appts: not this week

How are you feeling?: HUNGRY. All of August was so much nausea and food aversions, but now I just want to eat literally all the time. Unless I can sleep. Then I will always choose sleep.

Rants/Raves: Rant - I eat and then an hour and a half later, I'm starving again. And it is only getting worse. Rave - I CAN EAT CHOCOLATE AGAIN! I normally have a huge sweet tooth but haven't been able to stand anything sweet for 5 weeks now. I actually cried one day because I missed the taste of chocolate so much, lol. But HUZZAH I ate a brownie yesterday! Ahhh, so good, angels wept.

Questions: Even with all the eating as mentioned above, I've only gained 2-3 pounds since I got pregnant. Little worried about that - is that ok?

GTKY: What are you most proud of? Oh man, I don't know... probably that my husband and I had one of those infamous "10 yr plans" and we've miraculously somehow kept to it. We both grew up dirt poor and moved constantly so we wanted to make sure our kids had 1 home for their lifetime, with land to play on and a stable financial situation. Goal was to have everything set up by the time we were 30. Well... we're 31, lol, but we own 15 acres in the woods of a small town with a great school system and our house will be finished just 3 months before baby gets here!!! Close call, lol, but we did it!!
  • @fustilugs3 I’ve lost 7 lbs since getting pregnant bc of the nausea. This happened my first pregnancy too (and DS was born healthy at 7 lb 3 oz two weeks early).

It’s 100% fine you’ve only gained 2 lbs so far.

    Upcoming appts: Tomorrow!

How are you feeling?: Better some days. Others I just feel off.

Rants/Raves: I feel like I’m having one of the worst weeks of just pure bad luck. Ugh.

    Questions: None

GTKY: What are you most proud of? My 20 month olds ever expanding vocabulary and memory recall. He talks all the time, just like his Dad. Haha!
