Re: September Symptoms

  • I would like to not feel nauseous every day. That is all.

  • @silverhope ugh I hope you get some relief soon!

I feel eel like I can’t breathe 70% of the day and ESPECIALLY after I eat. This happened in my last pregnancy earlier than I expected, but this is WAY TOO early. I’m a runner, so I’m powering through, but it’s making day-to-day activities miserable. Anyone else?

  • @emilylove25 not quite the same but I get shortness of breath quite easily. My Apple Watch tells me to “breathe” like 3 times a day.

I am mostly over nausea, but so tired. Especially on the weekends. So I lie down and then that makes me kind of nauseous. At work I do mostly fine.
  • 10 weeks and I *think* the nausea is gone? It’s at least much less than when it started around 6 weeks. Gas and bloating have increased though. I’m getting real impatient to start showing so I can wear some comfier clothes and finally “feel” more pregnant!
  • Nausea is still kicking around at almost 11 weeks - I also have gained so much weight from only eating simple carbs and not being able to work out, so that’s a fun bonus, lol! My IBS-D is acting up every day.

I think I just need to clean up my diet and get back to normal once I feel better. and I need to start my workout routine again when I have a bit more energy. I think the aversions and cravings for only carbs are making my symptoms even worse
  • I’m currently in week 13. At the beginning, my nausea was absolutely horrible! I could barely keep food down or go to work.

Around week 11, it started to quickly fade away and I began to feel like myself again. Then on day one of week 13, the nausea and sickness came back! I’ve gotten sick twice in the last three days, and I am so disappointed because it had been over a week and a half of feeling good.

Has this happened to anyone else where morning sickness makes a surprise reappearance? I feel like everyone I’ve talked to said when it’s gone, it’s gone.
  • I had a sore throat a few days ago but that only lasted a day.  However new symptom I am having is migraines.  Not sure if it's from a cold or
hormones. Do you guys know any remedies besides Tylenol?
  • @dunder_mifflin Same exact boat here... I am 12 weeks (and 4 days) and I woke up so queasy the last few days.  Where is this coming from?!

I'm gaining weight quickly because all I can eat are carbs (usually cheesy carbs) but my energy level has been nonexistent so I went from working out very often to NEVER working out.  I think it's taking a toll on my mental health.
  • @Malidocious hey girl  :) Any luck with your OB and meds? And is your partner being more supportive? Don't mind me... I'm just stalking you, being your cheerleader! And don't sweat the weight gain - it's probably mostly fluid anyway!

@creativesoul83 no shame - break out the maternity clothes if it will make you more comfortable! I don't think anyone regrets wearing maternity clothes early on, but they (meaning myself) definitely regret making themselves wait too long  ;)

@newmamavera headaches are really common at the end of 1st tri. Unfortunately I don't know of any remedies beyond tylenol that are safe. Have you asked your OB?

@tcs2020 yeah at this point my nausea goes away for a few days and then resurfaces. Good times!

  • @dunder_mifflin Hugs! I will say I have been struggling with energy and breathing lately, but I've been forcing myself to stick to my workout routine. I've slowed down pace wise, but I'm doing it. I don't always enjoy it but it DEFINITELY helps. I think easing back in when help you physically and mentally!

  • @silverhope S-A-M-E re: the nausea. Though today (11w,3d) I feel alright and now I'm all *pgal brain* "am i even still PG?!" so ahhhhh. It's a lose-lose =*(

@EmilyLove25 I also feel short of breath easily and often. I lecture a lot when I teach, so I have been leaving a lot of space between words to catch my breath, not fun.

@Malidocious I feel like I slept MOST of yesterday.

When I eat something too flavorful, the flavor stays in my mouth forever. It's SOOOO annoying, and I try to eat unflavorful food, but it's hard. I am on campus today, and I had to buy something, and the falafel, which isn't actually something I would ever call "spicy" normally, was too spicy and now my mouth just tastes like that. I'm so sick of it. Eating an apply now to try to get rid of it, but the apple just tastes like falafel. Blergh.
  • @tcs2020 🙋🏻‍♀️ I’m 13 weeks also and my nausea was gone for a few days, maybe a week, and now it’s back. Before it was all day long, now it’s concentrated first thing in the morning and late afternoon. 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • @kagesstarshroom yes yes yes with the flavor never leaving my mouth. I HATE IT WITH A FIREY BURNING PASSION OF ONE THOUSAND SUNS. Really does not help my nausea. Blech.

  • @stassischroeder Hi!! :):) Thank you for stalking me because I definitely need (and appreciate) a cheerleader!  Lol!  I *finally* saw my actual OB and she is completely on board with Zoloft, so I'm going to start taking it this week.  I'm ready to stop feeling so down all the time!  As for my partner, he has been worlds nicer after having started to read his book for expectant fathers (it delves a lot into what is happening inside the woman's body as well as her emotions).  It's weird that it took a book for something to finally *click* with him that I'm not a crazy person who is trying to be angry about random things or get my feelings hurt constantly, lol.   How are you!??!

@dunder_mifflin Not working out has been a blessing and a curse for me.  It was probably incredibly beneficial for me to take it easy and gain some weight (I was underweight for a long time), but it's taken a toll on me mentally and physically.  I have to start back up, even just something small like cardio for a little bit three days a week... anything is better than nothing!  But it's so hard to motivate myself when I'm sleepy/exhausted and/or feeling like death (headaches and dizziness for me).  Not to mention the difficulty breathing just walking to the bathroom.  I just hate how much bigger I am in the mirror, although I really do not allow myself to dwell on it.  We are growing life!

@kagesstarshroom THE EXHAUSTION IS SO REAL!  Also that's really weird that whenever you eat something particularly flavorful, the flavor sticks around... lol. That sounds like it could get annoying pretty quickly!
  • Ok, I am very much OVER getting up to pee 2-3x / night.  Is this normal?  Is it because I'm a back/stomach sleeper, so maybe I feel it more frequently than if I slept on my side?  I used to be a stomach sleeper, but trained myself to sleep on my back to help prevent wrinkles (lol).  Although now I find myself back on my stomach, maybe for comfort?  I'm just so tired and it doesn't help waking up multiple times every night!  The earlier I go to bed, the more I get up to pee.

If sleeping on my side is the answer, then I'm probably going to order one of those pregnancy pillows ASAP!
  • @julia_xo omg the motn peeing is AWFUL. I didn’t experience it until well into third tri with DS but I’ve been going nonstop with this pregnancy. I haven’t found any relief from a different position. But that being said, I would still recommend a pregnancy pillow. I’m a stomach/back sleeper also and having it to kinda lean on once the belly is in the way really helps!! Get one and start getting used to it now!
  • @dunder_mifflin hey I’m a social worker too! Medical social worker, inpatient (hospital). But doctor put me on modified duty so just making phone calls now, thank you Jesus lol

@kagesstarshroom for me it’s like a metallic taste in my mouth that doesn’t really go away. I looked it up and it’s actually a thing!

@newmamavera I normally have GERD (acid reflux)...surprisingly not much acid reflux during pregnancy. BUT sore throat for a day could just be from acid reflux. I’m terrified of catching a cold/flu while pregnant!

@julia_xo I’ve always woken up in the middle of the night to pee (even before getting pregnant), I think it’s cause I drink so much water all the time. Maybe cut back on the water/fluids a couple hours before u go to bed.

@miss.sally I’m a stomach/back sleeper too and I’m terrified of this side sleeping business. Any recommendations on a good pregnancy pillow?

  • @silverhope @kagesstarshroom YES 100% to the taste!! I’m finally at the point where I can brush my teeth without gagging at the mint overload.

@mrsc918 I have GERD too! One of my main symptoms is chest pain and I’ve been having that a bit the last few days.. nothing a handful of tums hasn’t been able to fix though! I take medication daily for the GERD so I’m sure that’s helping.

FX nausea goes away soon for all of you that still have it!!

I’ve been getting pretty bad headaches at the lower back right side of my head. Taking acetaminophen but they’re really a bummer.

Also- abdominal cramps! Less intense than period cramps but still make me nervous even though I feel like they’re normal.
  • @julia_xo at some point you won’t be able to sleep on your back anymore (more likely to have a stillbirth if you sleep on your back after like 20 wks or something...I don’t remember the exact wks), so get yourself a pregnancy pillow. You also won’t be able to sleep on your stomach ha.

I used to be a back sleeper before my first pregnancy, but now I still sleep on my side. Get a silk pillow case to prevent wrinkles when side sleeping.

  • @dunder_mifflin and @mrsc918 social worker here too!
100% on the bandwagon of thinking nausea was done around 10 wks and I’ll be 12 tomorrow and it has been baaaack the last few days. Ugh
also feeling so gross due to carbs, crackers, etc being the only thing I can stomach most days. I’m nervous about how much I have gained since my last appointment with all this junk but like my last pregnancies I’ll just need to try to not focus on it!
  • @silverhope - my doctor told me to enjoy sleeping on my back while I can, up to 20 weeks!

@mrsc918 - my girlfriend told me that she cuts herself off from liquids at 7:30pm!! I don’t usually get home til around then, and still need to eat.  I also take my prenatal at night, so it won’t upset my stomach, and I swear those last few sips of water just do me in!

@miss.sally - so you don’t think it’s too early for a pregnancy pillow? I didn’t think you really needed one until you had a belly, but I’m a FTM here and have no idea what I’m doing lol
  • @julia_xo yeah I’ve been getting up twice a night to pee. I hate it! Unfortunately it’s normal. And like @silverhope said, pretty soon you won’t be able to sleep on your stomach or flat on your back. Sleeping on your left side is ideal but either side is ok, or on your back but propped up with some pillows is ok I think. So might as well try side sleeping soon. I am enjoying sleeping on my back while I still can!
  • @newmamavera The best thing for me when I've had headaches/migraines, is Tylenol and a bit of caffeine, whether it's a Coke or a cup of coffee.

@dunder_mifflin I'm with you on the body issues. I lost 35 lbs from my last pregnancy/birth, but now that I'm gaining again, it sucks. I also hate this in between stage of not fitting comfortably in my current clothes, but not looking right in maternity clothes yet. :(

  • @Malidocious @EmilyLove25 I’m with you both, easing back and taking breaks is going to be so helpful! I have some energy/am less nauseous today so I’m hopeful that I’m a couple of weeks I’ll be ready to get back to it (slow and steady)! My midwife reminded me yesterday that it’s beneficial for pregnancy, labour, delivery, and recovery and that when I’m up for it to start again. In the mean time I can start with lighter cardio 😊

@mrsc918 @acf2020 Ugh you guys get me, haha! Self care is so vital in our field and I feel I miss the things I used to do. Resting is helping though ♥️ I’m an inpatient mental health social worker at a hospital so it’s very fast-paced and high caseload. Just being careful on the secure acute unit right now as we have a violent patient - my colleagues are taking those referrals. It’s usually fine in terms of modifications as we don’t have a lot of medical issues on our floor, it’s just violence (which is rare I should add!)
  • @MrsVP614 I’m with you! I just have to remain positive and know that growing a life is hard work and it’s okay to gain some weight. Just being mindful of choices, I’m actually starting to crave healthy foods again so that’s a good start :) but yeah, sometimes that part of pregnancy sucks and gets the better of me! DH didn’t get it until I explained to him this week - he sees weight gain as a good sign, it’s very sweet.
  • Weird and embarrassing problem...I’ve developed some intense chaffing on my inner thigh. It happened out of nowhere and is very red and painful when my thighs rub, which is a lot because I wear dresses/skirts most days to work and I walk a lot.

I guess my thighs are bigger? But I’ve only gained like 7 pounds and I’m still 20 pounds lighter than I was in March.

Not sure what caused it or what I can do about it.
  • @kantobean from one thigh chafe sister to another, it'll get better once the weather gets cooler! My favorite product is Megababe Thigh Rescue... it looks like a deodorant stick and you rub it on your legs where your thighs rub together. It's the BEST! Super moisturizing and doesn't leave you sticky.
  • @kantobean You can get undies that are shorts. They look like spanx, but they don’t squeeze you in. I swear by them under dresses.
  • @julia_xo and @mrsc918 go get the pillow!!!! I pulled mine out around 10 weeks to get used to sleeping with it again. I have the snoogle and it’s amazing. You can use a 20% off coupon and get it at Bed Bath & Beyond. But even without a coupon it is well worth the money.
  • Anyone else feeling flutters?! FTM here, 14 weeks and I swear every now and then I’ll feel weird bubbles. It’s not every day but I first noticed it about a week ago. Is it too early? At first I thought it might be gas but it definitely felt different and then I didn’t pass gas (TMI). Also, it’s pretty high, like half an inch under my belly button. I’m seeing my OB tomorrow and will ask her but just curious of y’alls thoughts/experience 😊
  • @Malidocious YAS GIRL! Love seeing this update! I don't know what it is with men, but sometimes hearing/reading things from someone other than their SO makes a world of difference. Also, regarding the zoloft, it might make you more nauseous at first.... but I promise it goes away (and will be sooooo worth it). I'm doing pretty good! I'd love to spend a couple days sleeping, but what else is new lol.

@julia_xo yup, the peeing is normal. I'm up 4+ times per night and it doesn't get any better the further along you are. And pregnancy pillows are the best - definitely get one ASAP! And while everyone advises against back and stomach sleeping, you'll inevitably wake up in those positions anyway. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

  • Currently enjoying the last few weeks of sleeping on my belly kind of and on my back and wahhh I'M NOT READY. Also can't walk up the stairs without losing my breath. Add my very dense almost two year old to carry up there and I basically need an oxygen mask.

I read an article about a teenager in England who ate nothing but potatoes and beef and bread and went blind. This is my exact pregnancy diet at the moment (plus candy).  :# hehhhhhhhh
  • @slimjoco I don’t think baby is that high yet so it is probably something else. I didn’t feel anything until 20ish weeks first time. I know some people felt it earlier but it was like 18 weeks not 14.

@zetuslapetus I made myself eat a big bowl of fruit yesterday after seeing that article bc that is my diet too 🤣 I think it said he ate that for years though so just a few months should be ok I hope

  • @zetuslapetus and @varimama read it too. Yea, he ate that way for over a decade. Also one doctor was skeptical it was his diet bc he did say he ate ham and salami and that has B12. So a few months is okay (plus we are taking prenatals!).
