I received a picture of me when I was little and after thinking Nate and DH were identical, we might actually look alike! So, who does your LO look like to you?
@shoretobe I’ve heard that ever since he was itty bitty. Makes me feel good 🙂 and we have our costume already! It was in a bag of donated clothes we got a while back. It’s Marshall from Paw Patrol, and it’s fitting too because he’s obsessed with dogs.
(Responding to some stuff from the July thread here to try and keep the conversation all in one place.)
@megpeg I give you a LOT of credit! I always thought being a SAHM would be so easy because what could be better than spending every day with your kids?! And maybe it would be easy... if you had a personal chef and a maid and a personal shopper lol. And there's the part of you that is a person in addition to being a mom. It's a lot! Also, Nora just went from two naps to one, but no morning nap fighting like you mentioned with Declan. I hope that gets better soon!
@sgrn18 Yay to LO's tubes! I'm glad to hear he's been doing well with them!
@DDRRT1982 YAY BOY!!!! I don't remember if we knew the sex previously - hooray!!! Glad you're feeling good!
@shoretobe Good luck with the IVF process. I know how exhausting the process can be, so please always feel free to talk to us if it's weighing on you! Can't wait to see your next LO And Maeve definitely resembles you!!
@mccurleya I see SO much of you in Nate!!! And I love the Halloween costume!
Nora definitely looks more like her dad and always has. He would do drop-off at day care and I would pick up, so he knew the morning staff while I knew the afternoon. One day he left work early and came with me to get N, and the whole team said "Ohhhhhhh! THAT'S who she looks like!" the minute he walked in the room lol. But as she's gotten older, more people do say Nora looks like me - who knows. Murph definitely looks like me - she has my light eyes and curly hair.
Halloween-wise, I told myself Nora and Murph are separate people and I wouldn't force them into matchy costumes... But I'm having a lot of trouble resisting having Nora be Murray and Murphy be Ovejita! Gonna take N to a Halloween store eventually and let her choose her own costume.
In other news: I go back to work tomorrow! I'm going to miss N and M so much, but I am really looking forward to it. My husband's taking paternity leave for September and October, so we've got two months of magic hour: I can be fully present at work knowing N and M are with him, and when I come home, I don't have to go nuts with domestic responsibilities because he's taking a lot of that on. Woohoo! Gonna enjoy it while it lasts!
Also, on the baby note, last week I went to a new ob/gyn. I really hated my doctor while I was pregnant for Murphy, and I decided to find someone and get established in a new practice before #3 rolls around. And she was PHENOMENAL. I almost cried three times because it felt so nice to be treated by someone so thorough and competent. We plan on waiting a year before we start trying again, but it feels so good to know we've got the right doctor set for when the time comes.
loving all the good things here! We are doing a Halloween camping trip. We are thinking pirates and Declan will either be a monkey or parrot.
Declan peed on the potty 3 times today. My oldest did this too and didn’t officially potty train until he was 3 so I am not going to get my hopes up too much.
@ashtuesday he plays with the toilet paper and flushes the potty but is motivated by candy and cheering. He used to just play with his penis and make psst noises.
My husband started his paternity leave last week. His goal was to potty train N, and to that end, he's been letting her watch Sesame Street on the potty, which I thought was fully ridiculous. Well today, she pooped on the potty!!! Who woulda thunk?! Dad let her eat ice cream in her favorite chair, and I swear she's happier than this picture would let on lol
Well, I just had a high schooler (not one of my students) ask how the bump is doing... And I had to tell her the bump is a beautiful four-month old baby girl 🤦🏻♀️. So it's a great morning for self esteem!!!
Congratulations @DDRRT1982 @mccurleya - not yet. I’m waiting for it anyone dealing with tantrums? All the sudden she pouts then screams and cries when she doesn’t get her way/the thing she wants. Sometimes I feel bad for her (when it’s little things) other time I’m thinking “collect yourself, it’s ok”. I know she’s learning to express herself, I was just not prepared for this.
Re: September Randoms
Picture order: Nate, Me, DH
Maeve seems to have my face (expressions and all) with her dad’s curly hair and fair skin. (Maeve is top photo - then me and her dad)
also - I’m already thinking about Halloween costumes 🤯

I have had that happen a few times and it is like getting punched in the gut.

@shoretobe YES. over silly stuff too. It’s quite obnoxious. But at the same time they don’t know appropriate behavior so we have to teach them.
