Re: Group 2 Check-In (EDD 12/9-12/16) w/o 8/19

  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: December 14, 23 weeks, 2 days

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Blue!

Upcoming Appointments: Not totally sure...waiting for the high risk ultrasound specialist to call me and schedule something, that should happen this week or next. But my next regular appointment (GLUCOSE SCREEN, YAAAAAY!) is September 20.

How are you feeling? Achey and nervous.

Rants/Raves: So, if you didn't see my post in the ultrasound pic thread, baby boy is officially measuring smaller than they like at this stage of the game--6th percentile. Doc thinks it may be just a case of "small mama, small baby," since everything else that she can see looks normal and healthy, but she's sending me to a high risk ultrasound anyway to check and see--because there is a possibility that something's up. Could be the placenta isn't passing along enough nutrients, could be that he isn't getting enough blood flow, could be a number of things. I'm just nervous, because I was told that 10-90 percentile is considered "normal," 5-10 is considered "small for gestational age," and 1-5 basically means he's not developing...and he's right on that borderline at 6. So yeah. A little scared. He dropped from 14th percentile a few weeks ago (still normal) to 6...and I'm so scared that he's going to drop more. So just waiting for that damn specialist to call me to schedule the appointment so we can see what's going on.

Questions: Anyone else ever been in a similar situation, where the baby was too small? How did it turn out?

GTKY: IF you could have one wish, and it is not allowed to be for more wishes, what would that wish be? Honestly, right now...that he would just develop normally and be perfect and healthy. It's all that's been on my mind since Friday.

  • @rjgmcmanus I will be thinking of you! That sounds scary. There was another mom @pvvasel who also had size / gestational age concerns on the "Questions" thread. It doesn't sound like it is the exact same reason but maybe helpful to at least know others have similar questions?

Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 24 weeks on Thursday

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Team Blue

Upcoming Appointments: Thursday's 24 week check-up. I think it is a quick one.

How are you feeling? Fine! Extra tired. I have been lucky enough to sleep in this weekend to almost 10 am. My darling hero of a husband has made that happen. I don't know the last time I did that!

Rants/Raves: Took my daughter (she's three) to see her first play this weekend and she was a champ! It was The Wizard of Oz, so a kid friendly one, but she still got pretty scared with the tornado that takes Dorothy's house away, plus the witch and those flying monkeys. But she was super interested and even got some autographs after the show. Funnily we've never taken her to the movies, but I might wait a little while longer on that. Maybe kindergarten.

    Questions: None this week.

GTKY: IF you could have one wish, and it is not allowed to be for more wishes, what would that wish be? That I could teletransport my family with me to different destinations to enable us to spend more time with our extended families. We are far away from my parents and my in-laws. I grew up far away from my extended family, and I hope that my kids they feel a little more connected to theirs.
  • @g_gabs71016 Thank you. :-) And that's good to know I'm not alone in this size thing...no idea what our reason is yet, hoping we get this appointment scheduled and find out soon though.
  • @rjgmcmanus I will be thinking of you, I sure hope the specialist gets you in quickly!

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 23w2d

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Blue

Upcoming Appointments: Next thursday 24 week appt. then Sept 25 for 28 week appt and follow up US to make sure something that looked off at AS is looking ok (nothing too bad)

How are you feeling? Great! I wish fall weather would come on though. Whew this 111 heat index is for the birds.

Rants/Raves: I have sold so much stuff in my house it is wonderful. It has bought a lot of the things we were going to have to buy when getting in the new house, but now I dont feel bad for buying them!

    Questions:

GTKY: IF you could have one wish, and it is not allowed to be for more wishes, what would that wish be?  Oh Goodness that is too hard. I literally have no clue.
  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: Dec 16, 23 weeks

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Green

Upcoming Appointments: Next Thursday 24 week prenatal visit and ultrasound with perinatologist to monitor growth

How are you feeling? I’m feeling well.  My back hasn’t been bothering me as much as last week.

Rants/Raves: Why does ground turkey still smell gross to me?  I am making turkey meatballs for dinner and I want to eat them but I can’t because I can’t handle how they smell.  I thought this was just a first trimester thing.

Questions: My daughter overheard me saying I don’t want another csection and asked what that means.  She’s seen my scar before so I just explained again it’s surgery to take the baby out.  She said she doesn’t want me to have surgery.  I’m wondering if I should tell her the intended way for babies to come out...she’s 6...and hasn’t asked, so I’m thinking I shouldn’t tell her unless she asks.

GTKY: IF you could have one wish, and it is not allowed to be for more wishes, what would that wish be?  Also for this baby to be born strong and healthy with minimal complications.

  • @rjgmcmanus I’m sorry you’re dealing with this worry.  There can be various reasons for the baby to measure small but there can be some options the perinatologist can recommend that will help, like baby aspirin or lovenox injections if it has to do with blood flow.  I hope they call you back ASAP and you get your questions answered.

  • @rjgmcmanus while my friend was pregnant w her daughter they were concerned because her stomach was measuring very small, so they thought she wasn’t getting nutrients.  she was delivered early due to preeclampsia but the stomach measurement was something they monitored until delivery. She’s a healthy 1 yr old now.

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 12/12 23w 4d
    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: blue
Upcoming Appointments: 8/29 for gestational diabetes test and my usual ob apt.
How are you feeling? My stomach feels like it’s stretching, I feel much bigger this pregnancy than I did my last.
Rants/Raves: I was on Pinterest today looking at funny pregnancy Halloween costumes and now I can’t wait for fall!
    Questions: nope
GTKY: IF you could have one wish, and it is not allowed to be for more wishes, what would that wish be? I wish I could know if anything bad is going to happen with this baby or DS. I think I have pregnancy anxiety and know it’ll probably lead to PPA. I just want to know everything will be ok so I can relax my mind a little bit.
  • @klmcguire @KTZ17 @ale9687 Thank you ladies for the kind words/advice/hopeful stories. I really do appreciate it. Still waiting on the call from the specialist to get scheduled...called my OB today to let her know they haven't scheduled me yet, they said they'd get on them. Here's hoping the call comes tomorrow so I can get this appointment get and get answers SOON. Because this is killing me. I'll definitely keep you all updated, and so appreciate the support. It really helps. ❤
  • @KTZ17 I hope you don't need a csection again either! Crossing my fingers for you!

@klmcguire YES on fall weather! This heat and humidity is KILLER. Need it DONE.

@ale9687 I hear you on the pregnancy anxiety. Hang in there, lady. ❤

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 24 weeks- December 10th

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Blue

Upcoming Appointments: Next appt is Sept 9th- I assume thats when I'll get my rhogam and Tdap

How are you feeling? I'm feeling pretty good- my feet feel a little more swollen. Didn't help that I did a lot of walking in the heat and sitting for long periods of time this past weekend.

Rants/Raves: We had a really good anniversary/babymoon trip to NYC- I loved Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Just too hot and too many people (I know its NYC but last time we went it was in May and I felt like it was way less crowded and touristy during that time). My DD did pretty well staying with my parents so I feel more comfortable leaving her again with them for longer periods of time.

    Questions: nope

GTKY: IF you could have one wish, and it is not allowed to be for more wishes, what would that wish be? That my family would always be happy and healthy

@rjgmcmanus I am so sorry that you are going through this right now- I hope you get your ultrasound scheduled soon and can get some answers to what is going on. I will be thinking of you!!
  • @rjgmcmanus lurking from over in another week.... did they talk about the margin of error at all on u/s? i don't know what it is at this point, but i know when they do the 36 week u/s the "weight" estimate can be +/- 2lbs. i'm sorry you're going through this, sending all the positive thoughts your way!

  • @anniemarie887 They did not--though I've had a few friends mention that to me, so I'm staying hopeful about that. For instance, a friend of mind told me the doc told her she'd give birth to a 7.5 lb baby...2 weeks later, she gave birth to a 9 pounder. Hoping we have something like that.

Still waiting for the specialist to call and schedule the appointment. Apparently my doc misspoke when she said the specialist would be calling me within two business days--her nurse and office coordinator said it typically takes a week for them to schedule....which I guess is a good sign? If it was really emergent, I assume they'd be pushing to get me in faster? They did confirm that the referral was received by the specialist, they sent that Friday.

So just waiting...which is the worst part.
  • Update: they finally called. My appointment is next Wednesday, the 28th, at 8:00 am. Fingers crossed.
  • @rjgmcmanus agree with what others have said...there are so many opportunities for error here (the calculation, the ranges, your size, etc)! It’s probably a good thing that they’re being extra cautious, but it sucks that you have to stress. Keep us posted about your appt!!
  • @midgerose86 Thank you! And definitely will do. 😊
  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 24 weeks and 4 day, December 9th Due date

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Team pink

Upcoming Appointments: Just had my 24 week on Monday. Super quick. Nothing wild

How are you feeling? To be honest, this week has been tough emotionally and I have no drive for anything. I have bad acid reflux keeping me up at night and just low energy. My husband and I have been back and forth about parenting styles with my 4 year old misbehaving. It's been a run that's for sure.

Rants/Raves: my daughter starts school next Wednesday, and the school isn't releasing teachers and times (she is in preschool) until Monday. Making scheduling for therapy and the bus very difficult. My school also starts Monday and I feel like time is dragging .

    Questions: n/a

GTKY: IF you could have one wish, and it is not allowed to be for more wishes, what would that wish be? Win the lottery so I never have to look at my bank account again.

@rjgmcmanus with my first daughter I had a SUA single umbilical artery. My daughter measured super small the whole time. I had ultrasounds every two weeks and stress tests twice a week. At the end of it all I delivered vaginally at 41 weeks and she came out 7lbs 9oz. She turned out very healthy and perfect. She has some developmental delays of speech as a 4 year old that maybe the cause of that...but it's not proven and hasn't hindered her at all as a regular child.  I understand it is scary to go through extra percautions and my heart goes out to you!
  • @lilyrheas Thank you.  That's actually super good to hear, and puts my mind at ease a little bit. ❤
