Upcoming appts: Sept 6 for the anatomy scan and Sept 12 for my next check up
How are you feeling?: Today good again. Yesterday I had a puking incident brought on by an all-day migraine like headache.
Rants/Raves: Raves - my bil has been looking for work for a long time now and finally got something, so everyone is delighted for him. Rants - it's only midAugust, we didn't really have a summer because it rained so much, and now we are getting distinctly fall-like weather.
Questions:
GTKY: As summer is winding down, what is your favorite part of summer? Gardening and laying on my deck or in my backyard in the sun with a good book.
ETA The other thing I love about summer is how we have seemingly never-ending daylight and warmth. My northern born and raised brain can't wrap itself around places where it is dark at 8 and still hot.
Upcoming appts: This Wednesday. Just a quick check up to hear the heart beat and then we get to schedule our 20 week anatomy scan!
How are you feeling?: Overall, I’m feeling pretty good. Started getting heart burn and acid reflux pretty bad this week. It’s just about every day now, especially in the afternoons and evenings. I’m also having headaches every now and then, and still fighting the whole out of breath thing.
Rants/Raves: I’ve got so much to rave for this week! Went shopping on Saturday and hit the jackpot with maternity clothes. Got tons of tops, a wire free bra, and a couple pairs of jeans, even a cute dress all for about $75. I can’t believe I waited this long to get some maternity clothes, they’re soooooo comfy and I feel so much better in them! I also started to feel little baby flutters this week. I know it’s baby because I got a Doppler and they line up perfectly with the baby kicking. I don’t feel every kick, but the ones I do feel are like a muscle spasm. I get so excited every time I feel them ❤️
Questions: Has anyone else held off on telling work yet? I’m 16 weeks today and I still haven’t told anyone. I started this job in February and long story short, I don’t feel important or even acknowledged here. I haven’t made any friends and really only talk to one of my coworkers (we share a room). I feel so isolated here that it’s made me super hesitant to tell anyone. It’s such a personal piece of news to share with strangers 😞
GTKY: As summer is winding down, what is your favorite part of summer? I love boating on the lake but this year I haven’t been as excited about it as last years. I’m looking forward to a few more afternoons on the water and then it’s time for fall! Bring on the crisp air and fall leaves 🍁
Upcoming appts: Virtual appt on 9/9 in the comforts of my living room.
How are you feeling?: Overall, I am feeling good. Heartburn has started....UGH. I normally do not have issues with this but it has kicked in and has SUCKED. But for the most part I am feeling good.
Rants/Raves: Rave: Hubby finally got some energy back so him and I got a good chunk of things done around the house this weekend. And I am FINALLY getting a dishwasher! Our home we have lived in for 9 years does not have one, and has no space for one. So we got a portable dishwasher we are picking up tonight. I. CAN. NOT. FREAKING. WAIT.
Questions:
GTKY: As summer is winding down, what is your favorite part of summer? My favorite part is camping at our river property. We didn't make it down there this year with my husband working crazy hours and then not feeling great the last month or so. But generally that is my favorite thing, and can't wait to take the new addition next summer. This year though since we were home so much, my favorite thing was to sit out back on our patio and watch my daughter swim in our pool and just spend the evenings in our field relaxing.
Upcoming appts: August 29th for my Spina Bifida screening
How are you feeling?: I thought nausea was better, but I got sick several times yesterday. I'm still pretty tired, too.
Rants/Raves: Rave - I talked myself out of having to travel for a day trip on wednesday. Day trips are so tiring for me because I have to be at the airport around 5am and I don't usually get back home until 10pm or later. Rant - this second pregnancy is kicking my butt! Maybe it's because I'm older, maybe because it's a different gender, or maybe it's just the luck of the draw, but I am way more tired and nauseated than I was with my DD.
Questions: Not today!
GTKY: As summer is winding down, what is your favorite part of summer? I love the long weekend holidays. Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and finally, Labor Day. There's something wonderfully "summery" about getting an extra day to soak in the sun and spend time with family.
Upcoming appts: Had one today and Sept 13th for my anatomy scan.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good! Tired and get crampy if I stand up too fast. But morning sickness has been completely gone for a couple weeks.
Rants/Raves: Going camping for 4 days this week. We have gone every year since we got married 9 years ago. Every pregnancy, all 3 DDs as babies and toddlers... i love it so much. We shut the phones off and spend the days outdoors (we tent camp), cook everything over the fire and have a blast. So excited. Also started feeling the baby move last week and that’s the best!!
Questions:
GTKY: As summer is winding down, what is your favorite part of summer? Camping for sure. I look forward to it every year. Besides that, I’d say a close second is not having to wake up and get everyone ready to get to school. The school we chose doesn’t do busses so I drive them everyday. My mornings usually consist of getting out of bed at 8, making everyone breakfast, and going outside to sit on my porch to drink coffee while listening to our neighbors rooster and the kids play. I’m going to miss that for sure.
@kmj1426 Camping is the best! So glad you all get to go together. That gives me hope that our littles will be ok tenting. 😊 Also congrats about feeling the baby move!
Speaking of baby movements, and as an addendum to my post, I felt for sure movements today! I have been feeling movement on and off for a couple of weeks now but wouldn't realize what was going on until after. After lunch today it was definitely movement that I recognized as such while it was happening. 💕
Upcoming appts: This Friday with my midwife. My mom is visiting, so she'll get to go with me. I'm looking forward to sharing it with her.
How are you feeling?: A little anxious since I haven't seen or heard our little bug in almost 4 weeks, frustrated by gestational diabetes.
Rants/Raves: Rave- so thankful for facebook groups. My gestational diabetes one has been a lfiesaver.
Questions: When will I feel this baby move! I'm so eager for it!
GTKY: As summer is winding down, what is your favorite part of summer? So many things... the beach, summer farmer's markets, grilling out, wearing sandals. I love summer.
Upcoming appts: therapist today, 9/3 endo, 9/13 full anatomy scan
How are you feeling?: emotionally better, but I've had really intense pain in my left butt cheek (like I'm limping most of the time) and sometimes my lower back, afraid it's the sciatic nerve. Going to give it a few more days to see if it subsides, hoping I just pulled something, before calling my dr about it
Rants/Raves:
Rant: will the stuffy nose ever go away? Will I be a mouth breather forever?
Rave: picked a name this weekend!
Questions: I've read different things on baby registry etiquette. Thoughts on putting "big ticket" items on the registry (namely stroller/carseat and ?maybe? Highchair)?
GTKY: As summer is winding down, what is your favorite part of summer? Honestly, I don't really like summer (def a fall/winter person) so my fave part is it being over 😂
@bg122785 congrats on getting a dishwasher! Havent had one in 6 years and can only imagine what a nightmare 9 years must be like.
@taylor2020 I would imagine you would at least want to tell your boss/hr soonish, I think it's pretty commonly communicated in the first half of trimester 2. If you don't feel particularly close with any of your coworkers, then personally I wouldnt bother telling them. Theyll figure out eventually on their own. I personally told my manager pretty early on and my coworkers shortly after bc I didnt want to seem like I was being lazy for not wanting to carry heavy things or for taking frequent bathroom breaks.
@pinkiswhereallofitstarts I definitely put big ticket items on there and all of them were purchased (travel system, high chair, pack n play, even our nursery furniture). I was so thankful for it. If people don’t want to buy the more expensive things, they definitely don’t have to (or buy anything for that matter) but some people really love giving in that way. If you don’t put it on, they may just assume you don’t need it. So I say do it!
@pinkiswhereallofitstarts, definitely put the big ticket items on the registry! Nobody has to buy them but sometimes groups of people like to go in together for them. Also, depending on where you register you sometimes get things like coupons to complete your registry so you can buy it yourself or other incentives like that.
How are you feeling?: I’m finally starting to feel comfortable again for once. Got a little emotional last week when I went to the doctor and baby wouldn’t cooperate so we could see the gender but other than that I’m doing fine.
Rants/Raves: None of my pants fit anymore so I’ll be shopping much sooner that expected.
I’m from MS and I got a cold in the middle of the summer I felt horrible.
Questions:
GTKY: As summer is winding down, what is your favorite part of summer? Getting to spend more time with my partner and getting closer as I went through the worst part of my pregnancy.
Upcoming appts: Friday! Hoping the doc will do an US so I can see if my placenta has moved any. It’s probably too early to tell anything, but here’s hoping!
How are you feeling?: Decent. I’ve had some random moments of nausea again, and my lower back gets sore. But otherwise, doing ok. We just got back from a vacation in the country. It was fun and nice to get away from everything!
Rants/Raves: Rant is the amount of work email I have to catch up on since going on vacation. Rave is that my two oldest boys started school this week and their days went great!
Questions: none
GTKY: As summer is winding down, what is your favorite part of summer? I love warm (even hot) weather. I hate having to bundle kids up in the winter. Summer is easy - throw on some shorts and slip on shoes and we are off!
@mandk1233 sorry to hear about your migraine. I’ve gotten one twice in my life and I seriously felt like I was dying. Hope you’re feeling better, as I know it can take a couple of days to truly recover from those.
@taylor2020 I am 16 weeks and haven’t told my work yet. It’s mainly because my boss travels a lot and there hasn’t been a good time. Plus, I had a baby fairly recently, so I am nervous about the reactions. When are you planning to tell them?
@lanie1000 this is my fourth pregnancy and it’s kicking my butt too. I’m also wondering if it is because I’m older or something? I tend to think it’s probably luck of the draw. Ugh.
@tashia5587 hopefully you feel movement soon! I have been trying so hard to feel movement, but no dice except maybe the occasional flutter which is probably just gas.
@pinkiswhereallofitstarts sorry about your stuffy nose. I had rhinitis with my first pregnancy and it freakin sucked. I had to do the humidifier and Vick’s vapo rub every night just to fall asleep. I’m sure MH thought that was super attractive.
Upcoming appts: elective gender scan on the 23rd, routine checkup on the 26th
How are you feeling?: finally getting a bit of an appetite back
Rants/Raves: so over being bloated this early on lol
Questions:
GTKY: As summer is winding down, what is your favorite part of summer? I love being able to take my sons to the park, but I’m so happy the heat is going away
Team: finding out (in September) guessing pink because I’ve been so sick!
Baby is the size of a(n): avocado
Upcoming appts: this afternoon for 16 week checkup and anatomy scan mid September
How are you feeling?: still feel a little sick after eating but, looking back over the summer, my sickness has come a long way. Back pain is flaring up. Going to try and start exercising again to manage it.
Rants/Raves: the school year has started for my son and the new routine is going great!
Questions:
GTKY: As summer is winding down, what is your favorite part of summer? I love our annual trip to an amusement park. It’s really our only vacation every year and lots of fun memories are always made. I also do lots of parks and swimming with the kids and enjoy the lazy attitude that comes with summer.
How are you feeling?: Thankfully pretty good 🙌 Having some headaches, weird lucid dreams, & insomnia, but it hasn't been all that bad.
Rants/Raves: I’m going to start physical therapy for my back and neck again - really looking forward to/hoping for some relief! Our toddler just lights up my life and makes me laugh every single day😊
Questions:
GTKY: As summer is winding down, what is your favorite part of summer? Not shivering the second I go outside 😂 we live in the North and I'm sooo not looking forward to approx 8 months of bone chilling cold. So my favorite part of summer is being able to go barefoot outside, top down in the car, suntans, swimming - all the things that come with being warm!
Team: finding out (24 days, no I’m not counting 🙈)
Baby is the size of a(n): pomegranate
Upcoming appts: 9/18 for anatomy scan and gender reveal!
How are you feeling?: overall, I feel a lot better! Less sick, more energy, my boobs hurt less so I can run and exercise! I have started to get round ligament pain that’s waking me up in the middle of the night which is very annoying.
Rants/Raves: RANT-stomach pain waking me up in the middle of the night. I know it’s normal, I’d just really like to sleep through the night while I can. RAVE- got my maternity pillow this week and I am loving it! I don’t think it is the best one I could have bought, but they sent me the wrong size so they refunded me my money and I got to keep the pillow for free, saving $50!
Questions: none
GTKY: As summer is winding down, what is your favorite part of summer? Favorite part of summer....that it’s finally almost over? Honestly, I hate summer and am so ready for cooler weather (especially winter!! My favorite season ❄️😍), but if I had to pick something, I do love a good summer thunderstorm.
@kmj1426@jvk2012 thanks for the feedback on the registry. I had always thought that's what registry were for, but a few articles I read were like "it's rude to put big ticket items in your registry if not everyone (who will be looking at the registry) will be able to afford them." But they also didn't bring up the fact that multiple people may chip in to buy a large gift that on their own wouldn't be in the budget- so thanks for pointing that out.
@therealbitts I'm sure a humidifier would do wonders for me at night, but I think I would need a heavy duty one lol, the way our studio is set up our bed is about 4 feet from the a/c unit. Fortunately, I think that it's almost cold enough to pop the windows open at night and we shouldn't be in this apartment too much longer. MH has allergies most of the time also, so we make a very cute, very gross couple these days. Should buy stock in Kleenex at this rate 😂. Glad to hear that you aren't suffering from it this go round tho!
