hey y'all! sorry i kinda ghosted last week....it was a super busy week!

Housekeeping Question for vote: yes! i definitely vote we tidy it up.

yay @nancinator!!! can't wait to hear what your RE says. i hope this one sticks!!

@hithertorue wow 9!! i hope that ovulating those isnt too bad for you, and FX for your IUI!! hoping this is the one for you. thanks for checking up on me and asking how i was doing!

@sincethelastday great to hear from you again! hope all is well :)

@b_1029 i usually have a little redness around the injection site (about the size of a quarter) for a few days post trigger shot, and sometimes i get a little bruise, but i am also really fair skinned, so i think it just depends. i usually have some pain/soreness for a day or so but it goes away. i hope youre feeling better now, and i would definitely ask your RE about it next time you go in just to hear their opinions.

@inthewoods23 yay! a boy! FX that he sticks and is ready to have you as his momma!

AFM: thank you all SO much for your words of support and encouragement. you have no idea how much they meant. i just love y'all! so we met with our RE on wednesday and it was great. she is so kind and supporting. she said we could continue trying TI if we wanted or we could move on to IUI. we told her we were considering taking a little break to see if i could lose weight, hopefully around 20 lbs in a few months, to better carry a healthy baby and have a healthy and safe delivery and asked her what she thought. she said that if we think we can lose that, then a break might be a good idea because it can improve the chances of getting pregnant as well as help with healthily carrying a baby. she said that its totally up to us though - she reminded us that tons of obese women get pregnant and have babies and everything is fine, and she reminded us that with PCOS, weight loss is difficult. but if i can cut out carbs/sugars and eat more lean meats and veggies as well as exercise, then i should be able to at least improve my health even if the pounds dont drop. she also said that taking a break won't affect our ability to try in the future, which is good. so DH and i thought about it and we decided to take a break for a few months. we will be in Scotland in October, so we are thinking that maybe we will start back up with treatments with the RE after we get back from there, maybe in December or January. it was a tough decision and it makes me kind of sad, but overall i really want to have a healthy baby and i want to be a healthy mom.

*TW* my mom had IF problems, had really bad preeclampsia and was on bed rest for her entire last trimester, i came 5 weeks early in distress, and she was in the ICU for days after i was born with complications, so that scares me that i may have the same thing, and i am much heavier than my mom was. additionally, one of my coworkers had a sister recently who died while 8 months pregnant and unfortunately the baby died too, and that just breaks my heart and i cant even imagine if that happened to me and doing that to my DH. so maybe this decision is out of fear, but i am hoping that the fear can propel me to be healthier and lose weight to avoid complications! *TW over*

if it's all good for y'all, i still want to stick around! i'll still be tracking my cycle and we'll be doing TI, just on our own with no meds, which means i might not ovulate, but we will see!

oh, and a funny story....DH and I decided to take a break, and then like the next day we went to visit our friends who have young kids, like 5 and 3. we had the following conversation:
5 year old girl:"do you have a baby in your tummy?"
    me: "no, not yet!"
5 year old girl: "well when is he going to get there?"
    me: "whenever he is ready!"
3 year old boy: "is he still in heaven waiting?"
    me: "yes, he is!"
3 year old boy: "well how does he get there??"
...and then the parents jumped in and changed the subject LOL. i almost responded "lots and lots of medical intervention!" hahaha  :D gotta love the innocence of the little ones.

btw, sorry for the super long post......

QOTW: definitely sleep in! binge watch some tv, play with our cat, work on something crafty, bake something yummy!

married to DH on March 15, 2018 <3 TTC since May 2018
dx: PCOS, hypothroidism <3 tx: timed intercourse with meds (dexa, clomid, letrozole, metformin, trigger shots)
First TTGP: 5/9/19 BFN, 6/21/19 BFN, 7/29/19 BFN, 8/1/19 started a break from tx, 11/16/19 surprised with a BFP! LO born 7/7/20
Second TTGP: started meds for first cycle of tx on 10/13/21

  • Hi, I would love to join the conversation here!
    1. TTC for 16 months
    2. Borderline-PCOS/unexplained
    3. Letrozole, OPKs, IUI, Progesterone

    Housekeeping Question: Yes

@knockupthestock GL with the weight loss and taking a break, I have heard of many people who have had luck during a break from IF treatment. I understand your fears, and hope you are able to stay positive! Love the story about the young kids, I’m a teacher and I get off the wall comments all the time!

AFM I’m currently waiting for a positive OPK to call in for my 2nd IUI. Once I receive a positive, I will go in for the IUI the following day. I’m on CD 12, and I usually get the positive CD 13-15. I’m hoping it comes sooner rather than later because DH and I are planning on leaving Thursday to go camping...

QOTW: also love to sleep in, take my dog for a walk, watch daytime TV, and cook a nice dinner

  • @hithertorue Just speaking as someone who has participated in this board since last September - some on the list have actually gotten BFPs but weren't here very long and just moved on. You'd have to check their history of where they've posted if they've been on TB recently but I've spotted a few that fall into this category who post in BMBs. There's also quite a few that haven't even been on TB for well over a year - those could probably be removed. I do believe a few are on hiatus from trying at the moment and I would hate to remove them just because they haven't posted in a while. @chiblackhawkie I believe is in the process of moving and once she's established she'll be finding an RE to work with so she should be back in the near future. Once you take out the long absent and those with BFPs but didn't notify here, I'd keep those that have at least posted here in 2019.

Hope everyone is doing well this week! I have my hysteroscopy and polypectomy surgery tomorrow. My meds came over the weekend and I start up Lupron on Thursday!

    Hello my friends,
@knockupthestock - good for your RE for being really encouraging no matter your decision. Sounds like you have one of the good ones. Definitely stick around and chat while you're going through this next part of your journey! We're here for you!

@Ceauth - I've added you to our roll call. Welcome!

@inthewoods23 - thinking of you today!! I hope it goes well and you're feeling alright afterwards!!

AFM: IUI today. Had 2 maybe 3 follicles of a good enough size to potentially fertilize (out of the 9 that had begun to develop). I triggered Sunday night with Ovidrel. Beta test Aug 20th. DH's numbers were really good again. The andrologist wrote on his post wash "highly progressive". I know that along with the improved reaction to meds this cycle is going to get my hopes up. So again trying to find that fine line between hopeful and not thinking about it. So far this afternoon not too much by way of cramping (was dreading that!). The nurse wasn't sure if all 9 follicles would rupture or if the non-dominant follicles would just dissipate. From Sunday's scan to today's about 4 or 5 of them had started to regress in size. So she thinks only a few are going to rupture - I go back tomorrow to find out via ultrasound. E2 peaked at 2020 nMol. Much much higher than previous cycles. So again, pretty hopeful. 🙈🙏 QOTW: I asked bc in Ontario we had a holiday Monday yesterday and I was off. I napped, I watched some old Grey's Anatomy and a movie, Singing in the Rain. It was a lazy day!

    Re: Housekeeping
Thanks for your input so far ladies.

Here's what I'm thinking... because I know lots in the roll call are still likely around and taking breaks or on hiatus with treatment etc.. to the best of my ability I was thinking to thin the list by going back on the board a little ways. I don't think we really need to go back a full year based on the following idea.... Personally I don't think it'd be unfair to ask people who have stepped away for a few months to re-intro on the weekly thread when they join back in. I might just change this part to read as follows:

    FRIENDS RE-JOINING US AND NEWCOMERS:

To be added to the weekly roll call, please update us with the following:

    1.  How long have you been TTC?

    2.  What is your diagnosis?

    3.  What is your treatment plan?

This way it's a reduced list of people and really only going to be the people most likely to post on the thread that week. And if anyone pops back in they just provide their info and we add them back on the roll call.

Another Question for you all: especially those participating on other boards! Is there anything you're doing in your weekly check-ins on those other boards that you like that you think we could add? I.e. in addition to the QOTW. I'm good keeping things simple, but if anyone has suggestions or comments maybe we freshen things up?

    Me: 36 DH: 37 // Married: 2015 // TTC#1 Since: 2017 // PAWrents to 2 dogs: 6 yo female shepherd-malamute & 1 yo male weim/heeler mix // Dx: Unexplained endometriosis & adenomyosis 12/2020 // Rx: 2019: IUIx6 & IVF Retrieval Result: Abnormal/High Mosaic Laparoscopy/Excision - Surgery Sep 2021, Round #2 IVF Retrieval with new clinic - 2022
  • @hithertorue thanks for starting the weekly thread!! I like the idea of some housekeeping on the thread and I agree, anyone who has been gone for a long time should be ok re-introducing themselves.

FX for this being the IUI that does the trick — what number IUI is this for you? Glad the cramping hasn’t been too bad!

@inthewoods23 thinking of you today!  Hope surgery went well and you have a fast recovery!!

@Ceauth welcome to the group. Sorry you have to be here but glad you find this group — I love how supportive everyone here is. FX you get your OPK positive soon so it doesn’t create timing issues with your camping trip.

@knockupthestock sounds like you’ve come to a good decision for you and I am so glad your RE is so supportive! Good luck with the break and the weight loss .... I’ve been trying to shed 20lbs too so I totally get it!

AFM — just waiting this week. I have an appointment next Monday to hopefully determine when to trigger and schedule IUI.

QOTW: depends on the day, often I like down time watching Tv, reading, or if I have a couple days in a row I love to hike or take a day trip (or travel — 3 day weekends I’ll often catch a plane to somewhere interesting).
  • @hithertorue hope this IUI turns successful!

@2dogsmom hope your appt next week shows you can trigger right away!

AFM, surgery went good. She removed some small polyps. There's a bit of inflammation so I'm going to be on an antibiotic for the next 2 weeks. Otherwise, pain is pretty minimal so things are going very well!

@inthewoods23 awesome to hear! Take 'er easy this week! One step closer!!

@2dogsmom this is IUI 4 for us. Hope you get to trigger soon too. Are you doing medications this cycle? I can't recall.

We did 3 with the same med protocol: 2.5 mg letrozole and 50 IU puregon FSH with Ovidrel trigger. This round based on my lower estrogen levels in those 3 rounds she cut my letrozole in half. And then when I showed much higher receptivity to the puregon we cut that dose to 25 IU for the last 4 injections part way through. If unsuccessful I think we will do at least 1 more to get us through summer before making the switch to IVF. Also gives my body a chance to be on the extra supplements we started this month: DHEA and Ubiquinol for egg supply and quality.

  • @hithertorue woohoo! good luck getting through the two week wait. stay hopeful x just a matter of time now

@inthewoods23 so excited for you starting the next steps and glad the polyp removal went well! are you doing a medicated or natural FET?

@2dogsmom wishing you the best of luck for this upcoming iui :)

@Ceauth welcome! good luck for iui #2!

@knockupthestock lol little kids have no filter!! It is so great that your RE is compassionate and understanding... lots of doctors are smart but not all of them have the sympathetic nature that patients need.

    afm...
thank you everyone xo i'm very excited. i got the call today that my beta hcg is 231 which is a good number (they want it above 50). I go back thursday and they said the number needs to go up by 66% or even double. don't think i can be calm until i hear a heartbeat during ultrasound... which i think is 2 weeks away!!

  • @nancinator aahhhh those are great numbers! I'm doing a medicated FET. I start Lupron on Thursday!

  • @hithertorue@2dogsmom @nancinator Thanks for the welcome!

@hithertorue Hoping all goes well with this IUI for you!

@inthewoods23 Glad that your surgery went well. GL with your new meds for your FET!

@2dogsmom GL with your upcoming IUI!

    @nancinator
Glad to hear that you have awesome numbers! Isn’t it crazy how it always seems that we are in a 2 week wait? Hope those numbers keep rising for you!

AFM- I got a positive OPK this morning! So tomorrow we go in for our IUI, then leave to go camping right after our appointment. So glad that everything timed out perfectly!
  • @Ceauth Woot woot! Yay for perfect timing!

  • @hithertorue I did 50mg clomid for 5 days this cycle. If this IUI isn’t successful we will be doing 100mg clomid and an estrogen supplement.  We are also playing the balancing game with estrogen vs stimulants.  Is the DHEA you’re taking over the counter? I think I want to talk to my re about adding some supplements, several articles I’ve read recently talked about the benefits and there don’t seem to be a ton of downsides.

Hope your TWW goes quickly and this IUI does the trick so you don’t even have to worry about the next one.

@inthewoods23 glad surgery went well. I hope you can take it easy this week!

@nancinator that’s fantastic! Very good news although funny how you just move into a different kind of TWW!

@Ceauth so glad your timing worked nicely! Hope you don’t have too much cramping etc after the IUI and that camping helps the TWW go a bit faster!

  • Hello ladies, just thought I would pop in to say Happy Friday! TGIF!!!

@2dogsmom - you have to get DHEA formulated at a compounding pharmacy (special type of pharmacy). In Ontario, I needed a prescription for it. So far I haven't really noticed any side effects. Maybe the odd hot flash but I also wondered if that was the tweaked letrozole this cycle! So we will see now that I'm on just Progesterone if I still get the hot flashes.

@inthewoods23 how has it been on Lupron? Is that a once per day (abdominal?) injection like FSH injections? Inching closer to FET! What is the process now?... if you don't mind taking time to explain!

@knockupthestock hope your doing well this week, settling into the decision?

@nancinator thinking of you too, hope you're doing ok this week and not playing too much mental chess with yourself!

  • @hithertorue yes it's in the stomach. The needle is pretty small and short so it's not bad at all. I stay on lupron for 28 days. I finish my last BCP next week and go in for baseline BW and US once AF starts. If I get the ok then I start estradiol valerate (another injection) and take that every 2 to 3 days up until transfer day.

About 5 or 6 days before I start progesterone in oil injections morning and night. I think I start the estrogen suppositories morning and night at the same time as the progesterone in oil. There's some pills I'll take as well in the days leading up to my transfer. So for 5-6 days I'm taking like, 5 different things for the transfer, and that doesn't even include the vitamin E, D, probiotic, and L-Arginine that I'm taking now. It's a very booked calendar as it gets close!
