  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 1/17, 16+3

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: PINK

Baby is the size of a(n): Avocado

Upcoming Appointments: A week from today. September 4th and then September 30th I think.

How are you feeling?: Good. Eating like crazy now. But OMG did I have this random pain in my right side yesterday that radiated up my abs almost ot my ribs. Sleeping it off help, but it was rough moving around yesterday afternoon. IDK if it was the 5.5hr car ride or what, but my body wasn't happy.

Rants/Raves: I"M ON VACATION!! It's so nice to get a break from work. Well I have to sign in today and do timesheets for the students and staff but other than that I'm a free bird!

Questions: This might be random, especially since we are all having winter babies, but when did it become impossible to shave?? Shaving this morning in the shower had me wondering LOL

GTKY: What is your song with your SO? What is the story behind it? Rather Be by Clean Bandit. It's our wedding song that we choreographed our wedding dance to (DH and I met at our college's ballroom dance club).

  • @stashattack - I never stopped being able to shave my legs with DD. I just kind of bent my leg to the side and up and was able to reach. Now trimming the bush was a bit of trouble. I kind of had to do that by feel.
Have fun on vacation!!!! And I would agree that it was probably the car ride that made your side go wonky.

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: Jan 18th / 16+2

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): a grande iced coffee

    Upcoming Appointments: Today!

How are you feeling?: Pretty good. I decided to stopped my daytime nausea meds and did well on Saturday, but was nauseated all Sunday evening. I'm going to try just the B6 without the Unisom and see how that works. I hate how tired Unisom makes me.

Rants/Raves: The addition foundation is poured!!! We completed that stage of construction on Saturday and then quickly found out that the doorway to the soon-be master suite leaks when it rains. So we might be trying to get the roof up sooner than later. We had a flood into our family room that soaked a few children's books and the rug, and had to be mopped up with several towels. But now a tarp is nailed up to direct the water away from the house, so we shouldn't have any more worries.

    Questions: Not right now.

GTKY: What is your song with your SO? What is the story behind it? When You Say You Love Me by Josh Groban. It was the first love song that DH played for me to listen to when we were dating.
  • @marebear15 thanks for the insight on shaving! LOL. That sucks about the minor flooding but fingers crossed the tarp works.

Baby is the size of a(n): light bulbs

Upcoming Appointments: Thursday with mfm for scan

How are you feeling?: ok. Nausea is still here and thriving, still tired. Some days I don’t feel pregnant though so that’s helping my anxiety.

Rants/Raves: We bought cribs this weekend and I found a bouncer for a good deal at once upon a child. Still brand new too. I also bought a few pieces of newborn clothing . Celebrating dh’s bday today by sending him to do walmart grocery pickup while ds and I are at playgroup lol. Maybe I’ll pick up a treat for him afterwards.

    Questions: nope.

GTKY: What is your song with your SO? What is the story behind it? Our wedding song was Anywhere But Mine by Kenny Chesney. We both love the song so we went with it.
  • @MrsJessS - I'm still doing my nightly Unisom, just not the two other doses during the day. I don't think I stopped taking Unisom at all during DD's pregnancy. I slept great during 3rd tri!
I've only done a 12 hour car trip with DD, but I'd say bring a tote full of toys that you can switch out every 15-30 minutes, and DVDs. Good luck!

@kbrown2385 - I love Once Upon a Child! I basically get all of DD's clothes there. I didn't know it was a chain though, I thought it was only in my town.
  • Sorry I disappeared for a few weeks!  We had friends visit, went on a camping trip, and have been just generally busy with summer life and I couldn't keep up.

@stashattack - I also have been fine shaving through the end.

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days:  Jan 23rd/15w 4d

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green:  finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): orange

Upcoming Appointments:  Aug 23rd I think, and the my a/s is Sept 6th

How are you feeling?:  Tired, but pretty good.   I keep trying to focus and see if I can feel the little popping feeling of baby moving inside me, but nothing so far.   Life is too crazy to spend much time paying attention.

Rants/Raves:  We told our girls about the pregnancy.   They were adorable.   My oldest has always felt like we have too many kids (she's an introvert), but she is an awesome big sister.   She took it well, and then two days later asked me to explain why we wanted another baby.   She also suggested a name, Mira, that we are all liking.   My younger two were thrilled.  The baby (2.5) can not wait and keeps asking when it will pop out so she can hold it and sing to it.  It's going to be a long 6 months!

    Questions: none

GTKY: What is your song with your SO? What is the story behind it?  Swept Away by the Avett Brothers.  We went to one of theor concerts early in our relationship and loved their music.   It was perfect as our first dance.

  • @stashattack Haha, I have been having trouble shaving already! Legs are ok, it's just hard to keep up because I swear the prenatal vitamins make my hair grow like crazy. The bikini area is another story... might eventually have to go to a waxer.  :s  Also, I just noticed you're team PINK as well! Me too!

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 1/17, 16 weeks 3 days

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: PINK

Baby is the size of a(n): sweet potato

Upcoming Appointments: Just had my 16-week appt this morning, it went great!

How are you feeling?: Really good!

Rants/Raves: Got to tour my Birth Center on Friday, which was very exciting. It is super nice, the rooms are like hotel suits! I am going to start having my appointments there from now on and I can't wait to get more involved with the community.

Questions: **Is anyone interested in a natural birth/non-hospital birth thread?**

GTKY: What is your song with your SO? What is the story behind it? We don't really have a particular song.
  • @marebear15 I might pick up more and just keep taking it. I miss feeling rested when I wake up. I wasn’t sure if there were side effects from taking it too long or anything. We are downloading videos on my old tablet, have a brand new coloring book, a collection of toys and a whoooole lot of snacks. So I think that’s the best hope we’ve got.

@schreibaby I wish we had a non hospital option! Unfortunately if I do that it’s all out of pocket and if I go to the hospital it’s free. Which seems backwards but 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am hoping for a natural birth this time though
  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 01/23- 15w4d

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: IMPATIENTLY waiting to find out!

Baby is the size of a(n): I think an Eggo waffle was the last I saw?

Upcoming Appointments: next Tuesday with MFM for growth/cervix scan and next Wed with OBGYN

How are you feeling?: Besides getting headaches from heat/dehydration, have definitely been feeling more energized. I think I'm starting the insomnia phase of pregnancy which is not the most fun, but I was 4-5 hour sleeper before pregnancy anyways

Rants/Raves:  We have started telling more people, but now I kind of just want to stop telling extended family (aunts/uncles/cousins, etc). My husband has a pretty big family, and I honestly just don't feel like calling everyone? How bad would it be if the first time everyone found out was on social media when we do decide to post?

Questions: Anyone starting to get cramping/RLP? I was in the car for like 3.5 hours yesterday, and by the end of the drive I was doubled over. All better with a little heating pad and laying down before bed though

GTKY: What is your song with your SO? What is the story behind it?- we don't really have a "song" but How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding was our wedding song, and now I sob every time it comes on Pandora. Silly hormones!
  • @MollySm - Your DDs sound cute! I love the name too!

@schreibaby - I'd be interested in the natural birth side of things. I'm hoping for a completely med-free birth this time. Last time I used two IV meds that really didn't do much of anything.
  • @stashattack yay for vacation! 😁 so far, haven't had trouble shaving my legs. Try doing it in the bath!

@marebear15 oh no about the flood! Glad you got a solution going but that must've been such a headache!

@MrsJessS yay for vacation for you too! 😁

@kbrown2385 how fun ti be buying baby things! Do you definitely recommend a bouncer? Wasn't sure if I wanted/neeeed one.

@MollySm I'm glad your girls took the pregnancy news well! Mira is a cute name!

@schreibaby sounds like you have a nice birthing center! I'm excited to see mine. Also, I like the idea of a natural birth, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to go for the epidural.

@amb0924 I think social media is a perfect way to let distant family k now. No need to do personal calls for EVERYONE

@biolprof I'm sorry YH's family expects you to visit for every event. The big ones like weddings, sure, but a birthday is surely not worth a 10 hour drive! I'm glad YH is understanding. Also, glad your dad agreed to not use the heirloom crib and didn't get his feelings hurt!

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 01/25 15wks2dys

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Blue!

Baby is the size of a(n): apple

Upcoming Appointments: Aug 30th and then anatomy scan on Sept 17th

How are you feeling?: good, overall. Anxiously waiting to feel movements.

Rants/Raves: I'm wearing a dress that goes a little low in the back and you can see the crisscross straps on my sports bra. It's by no means lacey lingerie, but I was just advised by someone that I needed to put on a jacket because one of my Male co workers complained that it was "distracting." Are you effing kidding me? I mean, on, it's the workplace, I didn't mean to be inappropriate but that just seems ridiculous to me. You're a grown ass man and you can't handle a bra strap?

    Questions: none at the moment

GTKY: What is your song with your SO? What is the story behind it? "In My Life" by the Beatles. We both had some rocky past relationships and the lyrics to this just fit so well that when we heard it playing one day we decided it was "our song"
  • @peppyj9 screw that coworker lol. I haven’t had trouble yet. I’ve just heard certain areas can get tough/next to impossible 🤣🤣🤣

@schreibaby I’m also giving birth in the hospital. But Penn seems pretty flexible and open to all sorts birth plans it seems. I gotta remember to ask when she wants us to start taking classing and touring the facilities.

    @amb0924 I’ve had rlp for a while. It’s rough.

@MollySm that’s super cute and I love that name!!

  • @stashattack Yay for vacation! Sitting too long can start to cause random pains like that. When I have to drive longer distances, I stop for stretch breaks every few hours. Shaving was never an issue, but maybe that's because I put my foot on a ledge instead of bending down.

@marebear15 Ugh, flooding is awful. Glad it wasn't too bad to get everything cleaned up/dried out and that you found the problem. Are you replacing the door or with the addition, will it not matter?

@MrsJessS glad you finally get to take your vacation!! With everything you've been dealing with lately, you need it. My only advice is take breaks for fun things, not just food/bathroom. Like get far food and go eat it at a local park, so that everyone can play for a bit.

@kbrown2385 So glad you got everything straightened out and can get a scan this week!!

@schreibaby I had a c-section last time, so I need to be in a hospital, just in case I need to go that route again. That said, my hospital is awesome and fully supports natural birth plans.

@amb0924 we tell immediate family, close friends, and let the rest find out from word of mouth.

@peppyj9 I understand being work appropriate, but there's a fine line between having someone say something because of a work attire policy and saying something to imply you're dressing provocatively. I had someone tell me that I needed to wear higher cut shirts (think scoop neck vs high t-shirt neck) because people had commented about my cleavage. They thought they were being helpful and trying to look out for me. Instead of telling me to change, he should have been telling the guys to stop talking about me sexually at work. Depending on who told you to cover up, you might consider talking to HR.
  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 15 wks 4 days

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: finding out

Baby is the size of a(n): box of crayons

    Upcoming Appointments: Next Thursday

How are you feeling?: I have this random rash that started at the end of last week. Seeing the dermatologist today to see if they know what it is and what to do about it. It's not itchy all of the time, but when it is, the itchiness is intense! It's also now spread from my arms and legs to my mouth.

    Rants/Raves: Just this stupid rash!

Questions: I had an anterior placenta last time and didn't feel kicks for a while (like 18-20 weeks). I'm not sure if that's the case this time or not, but when did others start feeling kicks?

GTKY: What is your song with your SO? What is the story behind it? Fly me to the Moon by Sinatra. We both love Sinatra, so it fit well for us
  • @persnickity it was a supervisor that told me so I don't know that it's worth going to HR. We are such a small company (less than 50 employees) that it would feel too personal. And technically it could be considered not work appropriate anyway, so whatever. I was just more appalled that a grown man would find the showing of bra straps "distracting." It gives me the heebies because it reminds me that some men are just perverts. And yes, instead of you having to change, those men should not be talking about you sexually. It all falls into this whole "rape culture" thing where instead of men being gentlemen, women are expected to hide their bodies. I'm leaving and never coming back as soon as this baby comes so good riddance. The supervisor did tell me which man complained (not sure if she was supposed to) so at least I know who to steer clear of as much as possible because now I'm just grossed out by him.

Anyway, hope all checks out well with your dermatologist!
  • Sorry I ghosted yesterday! Hopefully I can catch up and don’t miss anyone!

@peppyj9 I didn’t have one with DS and we survived. I got one this time around since we will have two. I’m getting a swing as well so we have some options. They do make swings with the option to detach the seat as a bouncer. Maybe something to look into? Also I would have been living with a grown man acting that way. So nasty!

@MrsJessS good luck with your drive! I say do what you can to get through it lol. I’ve done 16 hours with ds and he got whatever he wanted just to keep him happy and us moving for longer than an hour at a time.

@marebear15 sorry about the flooding! Fx you don’t have more issues. How did your appt go yesterday?

@stashattack shaving isn’t too bad. Towards the end I kind of give up or ask for help. The further north I go the more I have to do by feel lol. Legs aren’t too bad.

@MollySm so glad telling your girls went well! Love the name!

@schreibaby I’d love to go for a natural birth. I feel like babies won’t be in a good position though and it’ll be a repeat csection. I’m keeping my fingers crossed though! Glad you got to your center and love it!

@biolprof sorry you had a rough weekend! We live 9 hours from home and everyone always expects us to come whenever. I kind of put everyone in their place once or twice. It’s exhausting and once kids come into play, it’s even worse! Sorry you had to deal with all of that! Did you come up with any ideas for the crib?

@persnickity fx you get the rash figured out! With ds i had an anterior placenta as well and didn’t feel him until 21 weeks. I’m hoping it’s earlier this time around. I thought I felt something at 14 weeks but haven’t again since. Im chalking it up to gas.
  • @kbrown2385 I'm sure people will get used us being further away but it will take time and persistence. I already out my foot down for Christmas so that's good! I found some cool photos on Pinterest which aren't on my phone but one was a shelf made from the decorative part of the ends. One was using the crib rails as a diaper drying rack or a backdrop for photos. One was making it into a toy bench so depending on what he makes its possible to make a couple of things from it.

Also I didn't feel like you ghosted at all! We don't expect you there 24 hr/day 😉

@persnickity hoping the rash isn't anything bad! Let us know how the doc goes!

@peppyj9 I'm glad you don't have to stay there but I also feel like leaving is them winning. Uggh not that it is your fault and you shouldn't stay but it's so frustrating that this still happens.

    @MrsJessS good luck!!!

  • @stashattack I never stopped shaving my legs, I just had to take a different approach.  I did a lot of sideways bending.
@kbrown2385 you are getting so prepared!!  I haven't bought anything yet and we need all the basics because my infant carseat expired and DD2 will be a tad shy of 2 so I'll have to get another crib.
@MollySm I haven't really felt anything either.  I thought I did around this time with my girls but honestly now I can't remember.  I hope it comes soon because I like the reassurance.
@biolprof that's a whole lot of driving especially when pregnant.  I definitely would have hard thoughts about that birthday party if you were just there last month.
@peppyj9 your "distracted coworker" just needs to focus on his work.  Major eye roll to him.

    Date/Weeks + Days: Jan 24th, 15+4

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Green

Baby is the size of a(n): I believe an apple!

Upcoming Appointments: In a couple weeks but just a normal routine checkup

How are you feeling?:  I'm feeling better nausea wise BUT the headaches/migraines are killing me.  I feel like a worthless potato sack because I honestly can't function well with them.  Thankfully I don't get them everyday but sometimes a few days in a row.  I'm over them.

Rants/Raves: Not pregnancy related but I needed socks this morning and I noticed almost all my socks have tiny holes in them.  Apparently I need to go sock shopping.

    Questions: Not at the moment

GTKY: What is your song with your SO? What is the story behind it?  Our wedding song was Love Never Fails by Brandon Heath.  But other than that we don't really have a song.
  • @mispanda DD is turning 2, so we're pulling the trigger and moving her to a big girl bed instead of buying a new crib. It's that remotely an option?

@kbrown2385 @biolprof so the dermatologist didn't know what it is. Sigh. They took biopsies and I'm hoping that can help figure it out. They don't want to treat without knowing what it is because I'm pregnant. I should get results back by the end of the week.
  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: Jan 26, 15w2d

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Baby Blue number 2! DD has resigned herself to being the only girl... She will now have FIVE half brothers. She is over the moon at NIPT results

Baby is the size of a(n): Scotch egg, or aviator sunglasses lens.

Upcoming Appointments: Elective Ultrasound 8/9. I'm terrified, as always. Then 18w appt 8/26 and anatomy scan 8/30.

How are you feeling?: headaches galore. I can't tell if it's the BP meds, allergies, pregnancy, or the heat or all of the above. Plus, vague lingering nausea.

Rants/Raves: We told my 7yo this weekend, and he's so excited. He keeps rubbing and kissing my belly. When he went to his Dad's, he told his step mother about the baby. She seemed genuinely excited for us. So, that's a plus. He also asked how the baby got in my tummy, and I had a whole spiel worked out about The Sims woo-hoo, that gives the gist of it, but doesn't really talk about the mechanics. Before I could tell him, he figured it out on his own with remarkable accuracy..."Wait, did his PART (points at SO's ahem) go in your HOLE?!?! That's so WEIRD!"

    Questions:  None, really

GTKY: What is your song with your SO? What is the story behind it? Oh, I like this one. For SO, it's "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You". He says he fell in love with me when we were 16... Then 18, and again at 40. For me, it's Train "Drive By". At 16, he was the first guy to break my heart, dumping me after we um.... You know. At 18, re-united for the summer, I looked at him one night, and thought, "OMG, I'm in love with him." Afraid of being hurt again, I panicked and ran...breaking his heart. At 40, we both worked hard to convince each other we were here to stay "Oh, I swear to you, I'll be there for you, this is not a drive by." We both apply White Snake "Is This Love" and 311 "Love Song"  as well.
  • @biolprof - I wouldn't want to do that kind of drive very often. My parents however make the 12 hour trip to see us and their granddaughter about every other month. If they really wanted to see you, they could drive.

@persnickity - We are replacing those french doors with interior doors (no windows), so we aren't worried about the door. DH told me today, he's mainly worried about a large storm that ripped the tarp off and we are back to square one. We had a guy come out and measure for the trusses (? whatever the things are that hold up the roof and are a bunch of angles). So we should be getting those in the next few days and then might start framing Saturday!
I didn't feel kicks last time until 17 weeks, and DH could feel kick at 19 weeks, also with an anterior placenta. I haven't been told where my placenta is this time, but I haven't been feeling much movement consistently.

@mispanda - We switched DD to a toddler bed at 18 months. She loved it so much more than the crib and we don't have many sleep issues now.
  • @FyreFlyeRush omg your son’s reaction is priceless 🤣🤣

  • @persnickity, I had an anterior fundal placenta with my last pregnancy. I could feel movement somewhere between 15w and 16w and DD felt it at about 18w. Since they face their placenta, you have a couple of things happening toward the end...1) your belly will look like a Xenomorph from Alien is going to pop out of it, as you see elbows, knees, and feet rolling around. 2) baby will probably "sunny-side up", meaning they come out face first instead of crown first. Expect a lot of back labor.
  • @FyreFlyeRush I should clarify, I had an anterior with DD. And actually, that didn't seem to have visible body parts or impact her orientation for labor.

It just seems like so many people feel movement earlier than I did and it seems even earlier with their second. I didn't know if last time I just wasn't aware of the movement due to not recognizing what it was or because of the anterior placenta.

@persnickity, maybe it was where in the front the placenta was located? Mine was toward the top, which may have made a difference. I will also say I had a ridiculously active baby. As far as movement, this is my third child, and it's still hard to determine what's movement and what's an air bubble or just flat out my imagination. I just recognized things that MIGHT be baby sooner with this one. Things I wonder if I'd even notice if I weren't looking for it, and ignore when I'm not pregnant.

Edit - more and gooder word thingies
  • @persnickity We definitely could but if shes anything like her sister (who moved right before she was 3) she will be out of her bed a billion times in the night getting out of her room and coming into ours. I'd much prefer to spend a little more money and get through the newborn phase without worry about bed escaping.  I had to put a gate up at the end of the hallway for her older sister because I was afraid she would roam the house in the middle of the night.
  • @marebear15 Both my girls love the crib.  It was our decision to move our oldest or she would have stayed perfectly content for awhile lol.  I can't even imagine moving our youngest at 18 months.  She wouldn't be ready at all but I know a lot of parents that move their kids at an early age and it works out well!
  • @mispanda we plan on baby gating DD in her room. 😂
  • I’ve finally had a chance to get on after a few days; I’ve been incredibly busy with family and slammed at work!

@stashattack I never stopped shaving, just had to angle myself differently for my legs. However, I do get regular waxing done on some areas that I probably wouldn’t be able to reach to shave toward the end lol

@amb0924 I’ve been getting RLP for a while now, it’s especially bad when I have to pee and held it for a while.

@biolprof That sounds terrible and hate when people are so selfish, but seriously your dh sounds amazing!

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: Jan 25/15w4d

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Team blue!

Baby is the size of a(n): orange

Upcoming Appointments: Sept 5 for level 2 anatomy and Sept 9 for a checkup.

How are you feeling?: Pretty good, just tired because of my job and terrible sleep.

Rants/Raves: Took dd to her first baseball game which was super fun and got to see my bil after 4 years! Slightly more negative rant is just work has me so busy and I work a lot outside in the sun, so I’m so burnt out and physically exhausted. I can’t wait for the next two weeks to be over!

Questions: I had one, but forgot lol

GTKY: What is your song with your SO? What is the story behind it? Sadly, we don’t actually have a song :(

@stashattack I shaved a few weeks ago but waxing is my main method. Hard wax doesn't hurt like the other types of waxes IMO. Hard wax < sugar wax < regular wax

@MollySm same here. Had some work travel and we've been busy looking for houses. Our offer was accepted and we are getting the inspection next. DH and I are excited!

Upcoming Appointments: Aug 19th, Anatomy scan the 23rd.

How are you feeling?: Eating more often and super tired. More of a challenge getting comfortable at night. Preggo pillow helps.

GTKY: What is your song with your SO? What is the story behind it?

We have a few. Our wedding song is Whatever Happens from Michael Jackson's Invincible album. The songs says whatever happens, don't let go of my hand. We had a beautiful choreographed dance, as the song is mid-tempo. The other is Flowerbomb by Wale. Super sexy...😎
