The All Around DIY Crafty Thread - August

Re: The All Around DIY Crafty Thread - August

  • Started a baby blanket for a friend. She is due before me so she gets priority. It's going to be a cloud pattern but now I'm just waiting for the white to come in...

Trying to decide what to do while I wait. So I start something else or just be patient?!

  • @biolprof i cant wait to see the finished version! that looks amazing!
  • @biolprof love that! Can’t wait to see it all done!
  • I finally got the right color of malabrigo for DH's sock. Now all I have to do is wind the ball and pack it for my vacation next week. Lets see if I can finish sock number two for him in a week!

Then it's time to start looking at baby blankets. Booties I'll wait until 3rd trimester because those take like an hour to make.

  • @biolprof so cute! Can't wait to see the finished product! 😍

@stashattack ooh, that's good to know. Maybe I'll make my first project some booties since I'm a total noob 🤪
  • @stashattack I definitely want to do some booties with all the spare yarn I have from other projects. They will make great gifts too! Want to get the big projects out of the way too but maybe I will do some booties while I wait for some yarn to come in! Good idea!
  • @biolprof that’s such a gorgeous pattern! So of course I had to look up the book and now it’s on my amazon wishlist 😂

@MrsJessS I've made the sheep one in it already? Love this book so much!
  • @peppyj9 these are the booties I made for my cousin's little girl. They are a bit challenging because you do have to pick up (make) stitches to make the shape of the booty, but other than that it's flat knitting!

  • @stashattack so cute! I will definitely give them a try! I mean, there's youtube, right? 😅
  • I wish I knew how to knit or crochet. My sister in law can and made me a baby blanket. It's soft, which is nice. But, I didn't know how to break it to her that I think it's ugly. I put on my best fake smile and thanked her, but I don't know what to do with it. I mean it's well done and better than anything I could make, just not aesthetically pleasing.
  • @alicia__e I have lots of blankets and things people crotched or knit for me that I just keep in the linen closet or with baby clothes that were packed away. I just smile, show I’m appreciative since they put so much work into it and then just save it. I can’t bring myself to give it away but I don’t mind them being packed up if I’m not going to use it.
  • Anyone do book folding? I want to try my hand at it to see if i can make this style for the nursery. Part of me loves the idea and finds them so interesting, the other part of me cringes at ruining a perfectly good book.

  • @kbrown2385 that's definitely a unique concept and I'm not even sure how you would do that, but I would die inside a little ruining a good book. I would personally do something more traditional like this.
  • @kbrown2385 ooor maybe something like this that still keeps the book in tact. Not sure how you get it onto the wall though. Glueing would surely ruin the covers. Or the 2nd one where I think you could just wrap some fishing line around to keep the book closed and then use the excess fishing line to hang it from the ceiling.
  • @peppyj9 I also have the framed prints pinned to do as well. I like the idea of having the books hanging, so maybe the last one will work. I love how they all look but I have trouble with the idea of ruining the books lol.
  • Got started on the cloud blanket. Fun to see it take shape!
