@keeksie84 LOL I'm just a poet who loves football, nothing cool about it. I watch a lot of TV, truly, but don't love any of it enough to have it stick out as my "jam." You sound like you are doing important work reducing your carbon footprint--that's very respectable! Also I love Hello Kitty too haha & most things Japanese culture (except whaling! why, Japan, why.) Walgreens had a sale right after Valentine's Day this year, and I bought not one but three Hello Kitty pez dispensers bc they were under $2 each--one for me, and the other two for people's kids I know.
@varimama I'm a big HP fan too--my user name here & all being my character in the Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery I play on my phone! Bigger fan of the books than the movies, though, and not happy w/ Rowling's inability to let the HP-verse just exist without her input these days. I thought that would mean I'd dislike the new Fantastic Beats movies, but I did actually like the first one. I tried to watch the newest one last night on my Direct Go app via my Firestick, but the sound was super very low for some reason--JUST FOR THAT MOVIE. I was so mad.

I’m into replacing lawn with native plants or food, mushroom foraging (and foraging in general), oil painting, sustainability, engaging in local politics, Elizabeth Warren, Janet Lansbury, and Tolstoy. Among other things!
Fantasy novels, video games, Dungeons and Dragons (very recently - within the past year), watching Twitch streams of other people playing video games/D&D. I'm a nerd. I'm also an anime/manga fan but haven't had the time to get into it in as much in the past few years. I've also breastfeed for nearly all of the past 4 years (DS1 weaned part way through my pregnancy with DS2, and DS2 is still currently very much into breastfeeding.)
@keeksie84 Hello Kitty is so cute! @kantobean Also a classical music fan! I played the violin all through school and met my husband in high school orchestra. I love traditional orchestral music and movie scores.
@kailanae that’s awesome! I wish I played instruments. I sing, play just a little piano, and conduct choirs. H was just saying today we should look into Suzuki piano or violin lessons for DD (3.5). I can’t believe it could be time for that! My husband and I met in high school choir. ❤️
You guys all sound really cool! Awesome interests!
Also, like many of you, I exclusively breastfed DD and didn’t wean until 23 months. So that was a big part of my life and at that point I would have called it a hobby, but now she’s been boob-free for 18 months so I’ve kind of forgotten about it.😂 I’m both excited and nervous to have a breastfeeding relationship again. There is nothing more beautiful than nursing but pumping at work can kindly eff off. 😂
I like to cook and bake, love taking classes at Sur La Table whenever I can afford it. I love to read, especially hardcover library books, though I won’t knock the kindle since it lets me instantly finish one book and start another. I love a good iced coffee. And, travel. My favorite adventures so far were an off-the-beaten-path walking tour of Paris, and a culinary tour of Tuscany.

I too, am an extended breastfeeder. DD was weaned at 18 months due to the fact that I had to take a powerful antibiotic that would pass through the milk.. DS weaned at 2 and a half but probably would have gone longer had I let him. @kantobean - DS is also a Feb 16 baby. I lurked a little on that BMB but never participated. and I agree, pumping at work is the worst - at my old office, they didn't have a set room for me, so I was just kind of dodging in and out of conference rooms all day, and getting people pissed at me when I was in 'their' room.

@kantobea +1 for Hamilton!!! And whales! I almost put whales. I actually taught a course based around the Hamilton soundtrack a year & a half ago. I've never been able to *see* it, though. Also, have you heard David Sedaris's voice? I was listening to Selected Shorts on NPR on Friday & I just... never realized that was his voice.
@kagesstarshroom yes to all of that! Love Hamilton and saw it in Chicago in January. It’s coming to my city this fall but I don’t think we’ll get tix just because I missed the cue. 😂 I love Lin Manuel Miranda and I have his “Good Morning/Good Night” book and sometimes I read them to my students! That’s so cool you taught a class on Ham. I would take that!!!
Also, I love David Sedaris’s voice. It is surprisingly high! Listening to him read his own work just makes it so much funnier. I’ve read I think 5 of his books and the two I listened to on tape were the best! I’m normally not a book-on-tape person but with his work it’s so much better that way.
@kantobean and @kagesstarshroom, David Sedaris's Holidays on Ice book on tape is the best! Just remembering the part where he talks about working as a department store elf makes me chuckle.
