Re: TTTC Check-in: 07/15/2019

  • hey there everyone!! hope y'all had a good weekend and got to do something relaxing and fun!

@2dogsmom hope you're feeling better after the IUI debacle and you're navigating your 3 week wait okay. when do you get to go on vacation? hopefully it is somewhere nice! when is your beta test? mine is July 29!

@inthewoods23 that's super interesting that they had to do all of that for your IUIs! and i hope your saline sono went well and you got good news today.....FX for no surgery needed!

@sara_tory hope your follicle check tomorrow goes well! and i hope your side effects have been minimal since the AF comeback.

@hithertorue hope your TWW is going by speedily!

@nancinator do you have your FET scheduled yet? i'm sure you're anxiously awaiting it!

@sincethelastday and @cigaline and @optimism3 - hope you're all doing well and things are looking positive! hope to hear an update about everything soon.

AFM: we had an US yesterday to check on the follicles. there were a couple in the left ovary that were looking good - one was a little over an 18, so we went ahead and triggered last night. My uterine lining was a little on the thin side, so they had be do some estrogen suppositories yesterday to help thicken that as well. so now we are in the TWW! my beta is July 29. DH and I are going on a small vacation with my parents this weekend and next week, so that will be a nice way to pass some of the time. if this one doesn't work, our RE wants us to move to IUI, so we are trying to decide if we want to do that or if we want to take a break for a bit. we will be out of the country in October so we will have to take a break then anyway, so we're deciding on if we want to try one IUI before we take a break, or if we want to try another cycle of TI, or what we want to do. I'm worried that if we take a break we will lose progress.....my body is finally (with help haha) ovulating and having a period, which it doesn't normally do, so if we take a break will it all revert back and we have to start from square one again? I don't really know how it works haha but its a fear I have.

QOTW: hmmm it would be practical to be an expert at something like fixing cars or accounting, but i'd probably want to be an expert at something more interesting, like Scottish history or something random like that hahaha.

  • Happy Monday everyone!

@knockupthestock I totally understand the dilemma of taking a break now vs forward progress. Hopefully this TI will do the trick and you won’t have to make the decision, but if you do could you just keep the TI up through Oct so you don’t slide backwards? I think we will be doing beta on the 30th (we get home late the 29th) so we will end up on a similar timeline!

@inthewoods23 thanks for the advice re IUI. They had to do some of that with me but didn’t use an US — I’ll ask for that next time!! Hopefully your sono went well!!

Thinking of everyone else and looking forward to updates.

AFM:  Not even a week into our 3 week wait ...last night I almost talked hubby into canceling the trip just so I could find out sooner then quickly realized how crazy that was. I guess my hopes are up more than normal since it’s our first IUI — probably dangerous to be this hopeful!

QOTW: I would like to be an expert in computer sciences — I’m the computer person in the family and at work because I am decent at them, but I run into so many glitches and frustrations. Having more skill would make my life easier!!

@2dogsmom - would your clinic let you do the beta the day before you leave even if it's a bit early and risk of a false pos? Would they recommend you try POAS while you're away just so you don't torment yourself? Such a hard thing! And I do remember having crazy high hopes in my 1st IUI cycle too, and crazy symptom spotting. So I hope you can find a solution that might make the 3rd week more tolerable for you!! Sorry to hear you had such trouble with the catheter. I had some trouble too with a big mucous plug this last time I think. It's not fun at all when it gets tricky.

@sara_tory thank you for your folli measurement tip, that makes so much sense! I felt like I needed to say Duh! When I read your message. TY TY!! Hope your folli check tomorrow is good!

@knockupthestock you asked about how my clinic confirms ovulation and sizes. They do an ultrasound on trigger day that determines the pre-ov sizes and then I do an US the day after the IUI to confirm I ovulated. They can see I guess whatever is left behind from rupture and if they measure it and its smaller than pre-ovulation it means it ruptured. I feel like they do that bc of being on the stims they want to track # and sizes to keep data for the medication protocols. Good luck with your TWW!! Hope it flies! And I wouldn't over think the meds vs your cycles. I had fairly regular cycles and ovulation pre-medications and I've had 3 very very different cycles on the same courses of medication... sometimes I think the body has it's own ideas and the medications can only do so much. So many factors!!

@b_1029 good luck on Wednesday! Hope it's a great appointment with a good plan!

@inthewoods23 hope your sono went ok? Thinking of you!

@sincethelastday hope you're doing well! Thanks for setting us up again this week!

AFM just TWW'ing it up! Trying to stay busy. I had to go in to the clinic Friday to run a urine sample as I thought I might have had a bladder infection. All week I had some dull cramping and aching after IUI Sunday. Again, they had some issues with the catheter and I did ovulate 4 eggs this cycle so for a couple days I figured it was from that. But I was also having the same pain and cramps when at the end of emptying my bladder so i went in and told the nurse my symptoms and gave a sample. They called me Fri afternoon after the doctor read my symptoms and she had said she wasn't worried that it was likely from "free fluid" which is what's released into the abdomen at ovulation from around the follicles and can cause irritation, esp when there are more than one follicle rupturing. When I heard that i felt better and remembered my 1st iui cycle with 3 follicles I had a lot of cramping that made me symptom spot like crazy as I was obviously thinking "I've never had this before so its clearly implantation!" But now know it was probably just irritation from free fluid! Results came back on the test as negative so I feel better that I don't need to worry.

    Long winded story over!

QOTW: expert in languages would be very cool! I started learning French as a way to pass time and keep myself off social media too much. I use a free app called Duolingo. Highly enjoying so far!

  • Hi ladies!

Unfortunately my saline sono yesterday did not go well. Still irregular everywhere and possibly a polyp was seen on the US. Going to need that surgery and it's scheduled for the 6th.

And to top it off *TW*
My very supportive friend through my IF told me she's 12 weeks yesterday and she'd been really hesitant to tell me. It wasn't until after being home that I ended up crying but I did that too when I saw the announcement from her MOH who is due 10 days before her. I was right when I said I'd need like 1 good cry then I'd be totally happy and excited for her.

Kinda sucks though because she was TTA since she's getting married in October and she has really irregular cycle lengths and it still happened. Like dammit why can't that be my problem?

Oh well, at least I don't have to worry about altering my bridesmaid dress to fit a baby bump like she does for her wedding dress! FX my FET in September works so we can have a little pregnancy group at her wedding 😆. I should be about 8 weeks if it works!

With all that said I'm in pretty good spirits having had a night of sleep. Still gotta work out the insurance crap because they're saying they won't cover the lupron. Which they did when I used it for my ER so WTF?? Argghh.

  • @inthewoods23 - bummer!! Sorry to hear about your sono results and surgery. What will they have to do in the surgery? Also hugs for dealing with an announcement in the midst of all that! It is never good timing but why does it always seem to coincide with an already rough day!!??

  • @hithertorue I can't remember if I told my friend of her great timing 😆 I guess that was better anyway than have 2 days of bad news.

I think the surgery is a hysteroscopy so they'll take a look in there and then they'll also clean it out so my lining is smooth instead of irregular. And remove the polyp if there is one.

  • @knockupthestock - hope the TWW hasn’t been too brutal yet - it’s nice that you have a little vacation to look forward to! Really hope this is the one and you won’t have to move onto IUI. I get with the whole timing thing and wondering when and how to move onto a new treatment. And I’ve always felt conflicted on taking a break, because on the one hand I want to keep pushing forward with treatment and not “waste time”,  but I also know that it can be important to just have a breather sometimes. Hope you and YH find what works best for you both! And thanks for the well wishes!

@2dogsmom - I felt the same way with my first IUI. The hope was super high. I really hope though that it’ll be successful! Hope the TWW is flying by for you!

@hithertorue - ugh, sorry about the “free fluid” irritation - it does not sound fun! I hope the rest of your TWW is uneventful when it comes to stuff like that and goes by quickly! When’s your beta? And thanks for the well wishes!

@inthewoods23 - so sorry to hear that you’ll have to undergo surgery!! As @hithertorue mentioned, what does the surgery actually look like and what’s the recovery time like? And doubling sucks with the announcements! Really hope the surgery goes well and that you have a speedy recovery in order to still have your FET at the scheduled time.  <3

AFM: I have my first US next week on Monday at my RE’s office to hopefully hear a heartbeat. I’m very nervous for it. I’ve been having a lot of anxiety over the past week with worrying that this pregnancy won’t last. I don’t have any basis for those worries (I haven’t had any symptoms of miscarriage), but I think it still just feels too good to be true. I also have only had mild cramping on and off which is normal, so I think I would feel more confident if I was starting to get some more typical pregnancy symptoms. I just wish I could lay back and just enjoy this time. So, just waiting very impatiently for Monday. Thank you all for your thought and well wishes - I really appreciate it!

I also wanted to say that I’ve been thinking of you ladies a lot and you’ve all been in my prayers that you’ll all receive your BFP very soon!!  <3<3

  • @inthewoods23 I'm sorry to hear about the procedure, that sucks to add that to everything else you're going through for IVF.How long is the recovery? Hopefully it's quick and painless after! I also hope the insurance get sorted out for your Lupron. Do you have to take that the month before the FET?
Hearing about someone else's news is pretty bittersweet. I think you put it really well saying that after one good cry you'll be happy for her. <3

@knockupthestockI'm glad you had a good size follicle for the trigger and FX  it works out for you this cycle! I took a break last month and it was up and down. Not going to all of the appointments was definitely a relief but the wait to start the next cycle started to feel really long by the end. If October is already out, I personally wouldn't take an additional break before then. Doing another TI cycle or the first IUI next month sounds like a good plan to me.

@2dogsmomI'm so sorry to hear that the IUI was so uncomfortable and  caused bleeding! I didn't know that could happen. I'm glad it won't cause any impact on conception though. Having the extra long wait sounds difficult but I hope you can stay extra distracted to make it through the last few days. We'll be here if you need to vent!

@hithertorueI've never heard about "free fluid" before! I guess because you had four follicles ovulate there would be more of this fluid to cause irritation in the abdomen? Hopefully the symptoms go away soon since it sounds quite uncomfortable. Fingers crossed for you this cycle and hope you have good distractions planned.

@b_1029 welcome! Hope your two week wait is going by quickly. Sounds like the same conversation I had with my RE  this past winter . We decided to try TI for three months and then moved on to IUI. I was think it feels good to have a game. Let us know how the appointment goes!

As for me, I had my US/BW yesterday. I have three follicles growing on the left side. One of them is 1.9, the others 1.3 and 1.4. The plan is to do OPK tests until I get a positive and then book the IUI for the next day. I don't have another monitoring appointment but she suggested calling in for one Thursday or Friday. Usually I get a positive OPK on day 15 or 16 so hopefully I'll be going in on Friday or Saturday. And just nervous about missing the LH surge. I think I will test twice a day just to be sure. This is our third and probably final IUI. I am seeing my RE July 29 so we'll probably be discussing IVF if this cycle isn't successful.

At least the summery weather is giving us more distractions to pass the time!
  • @b_1029 yay for plans!! With being triggered you won't have to worry at all about timing, they'll tell you exactly when! Lounge in the "back seat" and enjoy not "driving" for a change!

  • @inthewoods23 so sorry you had such a rough day! I really hope the surgery isn’t too bad, as others have asked, what does it look like timewise?

@hithertorue yikes that doesn’t sound fun. I guess it’s good it wasn’t a bladder/UTI but still! How’s the TWW? When do you know? FX for you!

@sara_tory FX that this IUI does the trick! The timing sounds a bit stressful, I guess the advantage of doing the trigger (as much as I totally hate it) is we know the timing! But testing twice a day you should catch it for sure!

@b_1029 Glad you have a plan! I know I always feel better when I have a plan in place for the next few months of progressive next steps. Don’t stress too much about the timing — they will tell you when to trigger which will then dictate your TI. It’ll be pretty easy to know the timing — actually a lot easier than having to do the OPK and hope it’s accurate. This way you KNOW when you ovulate!

Spoiler/TW.... can someone tell me how to do the hide box from the app?

@sincethelastday glad you have an US coming up! I can totally imagine not feeling comfortable with it/being scared something will go wrong because it was so hard to get to this point, but it’s probably for the best you aren’t feeling more sick! I really hope the US gives you some peace of mind. I have been crossing fingers and praying for healthy baby for you!!

Here you go @2dogmom (screenshot below)! Haven't had a ton of time to do a big reply this week but have been following along with everyone and checking in. FX and prayers for all of us! @sara_tory just was curious,  why won't your RE trigger instead of opk? And nice follies! Praying for you!

Thanks for all your well wishes and thoughts this week! My TWW has been pretty busy work wise which has kept me distracted for sure. I'm still praying my "less than 3 (or 4) but more than none" but not overthinking it either. Have found this the easiest TWW yet, which I think is just getting used to go through the IUI motions now. I go Sunday morning for beta. FX!

  • @2dogsmom - thanks so much for the well wishes and thoughts! Will be thinking of you and hoping hard that this is the one for you!

@hithertorue - oh, so hope you get good news on Sunday! Will be thinking of you!

@b_1029 - welcome and glad to hear your first RE appointment went well! Sounds like a good plan going forward - I totally felt the same way once I had a treatment plan in place! Makes it feel like you’re finally on a path to hopefully a baby!

@sara_tory - looks like great follies! I also did OPKs to detect the LH surge instead of the trigger shot and I did find it a bit stressful at times because so much seemed to be riding on my doing them correctly and the right time, etc. However, it soon became routine. I only tested once a day, but had also seriously considered it doing twice, so your plan sounds like a good one. I also used two different OPK brands just to have complete confidence that if they both were positives, then I was doubly sure that I had caught the LH surge. Good luck and really hoping this IUI gives you a positive result!!

@b_1209 That’s the exact game plan my RE gave me too. It was really helpful to be able to know what was coming up on the horizon. Hopefully you won’t need to make it to the IUI stage though!

@hithertorue fingers crossed for your beta tomorrow. Glad the week went by quickly and the TWW was less torturous this time around. I hope it's your last!

@savethelastday thanks for the tip to use two brands! I’ll keep that in mind. Thinking of you and hoping your US goes well!

AFM I have my IUI tomorrow. Was supposed to go in for BW today. I wasn't feeling well and didn't sleep. Luckily my opk test turned positive (or almost positive…the test line was very visible but not quite as dark as the control line). I called them and got the IUI procedure booked for Sunday after some stressful phone tag where I thought they hadn’t listened to my message before they closed for the day. At least I didn't need to go in for a 7 am on a Saturday and got to sleep in. Feeling better now. Maybe TMI but we did a spontaneous BD today…somehow the pheromones always kick in at the right time which I find really funny. Hopefully it was a good stress reliever if nothing else, right? 😂

@sara_tory Best days to conceive are in the days leading up to ovulation so I'm sure your body was giving you the right cues!! Hope the iui went well today!! Thinking bumpy thoughts for you this cycle!!  ;)

@sincethelastday - hope you're having a relaxing weekend and can't wait to hear how your appointment goes tomorrow! <3<3<3

Whenever you want to give up starting the weekly thread, definitely feel free to let us know!

AFM, I figured I would update today and then start fresh as of tomorrow. We got a negative on our beta today. I feel like I'm taking the news a bit easier these days. I keep reminding myself that we've really only been since the new year with our OB and this was only our 3rd try with help so gotta try to keep that in mind. I can't deny I really had my hopes up this one with 4 follicles. DH and I are going golfing this eve to brush it off (hit some things) lol and stay occupied.... On to the next!
