@marebear15 I have given in to maternity shorts because they are just so comfy, but everything else I am holding out a little longer.
@noranorabobora I don't have an itchy nipple, but I have one that gets so hard it is painful! Idk what that is all about
Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: Jan 17/ 13+4
Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Team Pink!
Baby is the size of a(n): Jalapeño
Upcoming Appointments: Routine OB tomorrow morning. I'm excited to hear the HB again!
How are you feeling?: I have not had any MS this pregnancy but have had more nausea this week than the whole first trimester. I haven't actually thrown up, but came super close a few days ago. Like others, I also get the most intense hunger that comes on within minutes and then get nauseous if I don't eat right away.
Rants/Raves: I can't wait for a real bump and not just a squishy bloat bump
Questions:
GTKY: If you could have a hall pass for one celebrity, who would it be?
Hi ladies! It's my first time posting, so it's nice to "meet you," haha.
Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: Due Jan. 17, 13 weeks and 5 days
Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Finding out... Did a Sneak Peek test since NIPT wasn't covered for me. BUT I'm really worried I messed up the test since my husband was nearby when I was doing it. Apparently, men are supposed to be nowhere near you in case there is contamination, so we'll see. Has anyone done one of these tests?
Baby is the size of a(n): peach
Upcoming Appointments: Taking a tour of my Birth Center on Aug. 2; 16 week apt Aug. 5
How are you feeling?: Great! Do have some round ligament pain though.
Rants/Raves: Been waking up around 3 am for several days now. Get up, use the restroom, eat a snack, watch tv for an hour or so before getting sleepy again.
Questions: In what month of pregnancy are you planning your showers? I'm starting to plan mine, it will be 2 months before my due date. Also, we are doing a co-ed party, anyone else doing this?
GTKY: If you could have a hall pass for one celebrity, who would it be? I don't really care much about celebrities, but I did have a racy dream involving Steve Harrington from Stanger Things last night....totally random!
@schreibaby welcome to the club!! And we are due date twins!! I don't care who's planning it for me, but I'm demanding mine should be in October because we live up north. I don't want to be dealing with the potential of november snows and people traveling.
Also is it unreasonable to have people come to me for my shower? I live out of state, and most family and friends are 3ish hours away. But, honestly, I feel like I shouldn't have to travel for my own shower? Or am I playing the pregnancy card here a bit too strong? MIL scoffed when I told her I wanted the shower to be up here. She was like "you want to make everyone travel?" Um preferably yes.
@stashattack I feel you on the travel thing. But we are literally the only ones where we are and lots of friends/family are 5-6 hours north. I'm sure to be traveling for a baby shower. But I also know that my work plans to host a baby shower for me. It will totally be Co-Ed and I think lots of students and faculty will be there. It might even be dress as your favorite female scientist. Yes this is the nerds we are!
@stashattack thanks for the welcome! I totally get not wanting to travel for your own shower. At the same time, it might be hard on whoever is hosting.
@bioprof Ha! Love "dress as your favorite female scientist." I really hope you do this!
I am tempted to through a Halloween themed "baby bash," as my husband and I both really love costume parties, but I'm afraid it would be too cheesy and no one would really get into it.
@stashattack I hear you on the travel, but if your family and friends are there, I'd do the travelling. I think if you're not superstitious it's totally fine to request it be in October before you're uncomfortable on a 3+ hour car trip.
As for showers, I'm not sure if one of my sisters or few friends locally will throw me a sprinkle or not. If they do, I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being the week before Christmas when my youngest sister is home from college. My DD came 5 weeks early, and we're so hoping this one doesn't, but it would cut it close. I'd be thankful for one because we just found out it's a boy, and so I have zero boy stuff. I do have a lot that's gender neutral but will be the wrong season likely. I'm stressed about a whole new wardrobe plus paying for a second in daycare.
Me: 31
DH: 32
Married: Sep 2012
TTC #1: Jan 2015 Baby A (via IUI due to MFI): Sep 2016 born at 35+6
Surprise but very welcome + on 5/16/2019, EDD 1/25/2020
How are you feeling?: Good actually. I get really worn out quickly, exhausted and short of breath if I'm talking and doing something.
Rants/Raves: I've got a bump, but I ended up getting terrible stretch marks my last week pregnant with DD, so my stomach is all sorts of messed up looking and isn't the smooth bump I got last time. I'm hoping it levels out as I get larger.
Questions: DH and I found out we're having a boy. Now wondering how we should tell our families. Any ideas?
GTKY: If you could have a hall pass for one celebrity, who would it be? Sam Heughan but only in character as Jamie from Outlander
Also, I feel so silly, and totally judged people in the past for this but I keep finding myself bummed out about it being a boy. I'm thrilled he's healthy. I just feel like I have no clue what to do with a boy (haha). I was so so so looking forward to a sister for my DD. I know he'll be the perfect addition to our family, but I find myself creeping back into these thoughts where I'm not thrilled and I absolutely hate that I'm doing it. I think part of it is we were so surprised to be able to get pregnant on our own that even being pregnant hadn't fully sunken in and then to find out so early that it's a boy is just overwhelming me a bit.

@bosslady925 I get that. I have two boys and am really really really hoping this one will be a girl. I will say boys are awesome and they LOVE their mama. I’m a much better boy mom than I thought I would be lol but I’m desperate for some bows
@clee5711 DD is anti-bows, loves trucks, and is constantly into the dirt. 😁 This girl is very much a rough and tumble tomboy.
Had my 12 weeks appointment today and nearly had a heart attack. The nurse couldn't find the heartbeat on the Doppler and had to get my OB to help. Luckily she found it quickly. I was panicking.
My OB was great and said as she walked in that if she couldn't find it fast she would do an ultrasound for reassurance herself. I was glad she found it in seconds!
@bosslady925 I feel exactly the same way, except I really wanted a boy and am having a girl. I know I will get on board soon enough, but I just feel a little bummed right now.
@bosslady925 I’m also having a boy and feel the same about feeling like I have no clue what to do with a boy. I’m excited about the adventure of raising the other sex now, but a little scared! I didn’t really care either way since I have a daughter, but part of me liked the idea of having two little girls even though I would have been fine with a boy. Now that I know and it feels more real, I’m freaking out a little! I’m sure once our boys are born, it’ll all come naturally on what to do!
@persnickity I’m glad the dr found the heartbeat quickly. and I love that your DD is a tomboy. I’d imagine if I have a girl she would end up the same because that’s how my boys are.
How are you feeling?: I'm starting to feel less nausea and a little more energy. I definitely have to eat every two hrs (small amt) and stay hydrated.
Rants/Raves: I am showing...have to wear a uniform at work so I'm about to switch to the maternity version so I can be comfortable. Plus it's way too hot to be uncomfortable with the clothing.
Questions:
GTKY: If you could have a hall pass for one celebrity, who would it be? Idris Elba 🥰
@biolprof thanks for the advice on when might be a good time to purchase things. This is my first child.
@DalexRN I need to look into maternity shorts immediately!
How are you feeling?: Mostly good nausea wise. Started spotting for the first time last night and it really freaked me out. MH is away this weekend and I really wish I wasn't alone right now.
Rants/Raves: Always starving until I get food in front of me and then I eat 3 bites and I'm full. As someone who used to eat two meals a day this constant need to graze feels like a lot of work. Lol.
Questions: Has anyone else experienced spotting this late in the first trimester? Is it really normal?
GTKY: If you could have a hall pass for one celebrity, who would it be? Ryan Gosling of course.
@knottie64d75fb6d36923f4 I, as well as some other ladies on here, have experienced spotting with our babies being just fine. I know it’s very scary and it happened to me 3 times without any explanation. Did you have sex prior to the spotting? Since you said last night, I’m assuming it stopped? That would be good! I’m sorry this has happened and hope everything checks out okay at your appointment.
Also, unrelated, but do you mind changing your username so that it is easier to tag you/know who you are? Thanks!!
