You know what’s harder than it should be? Finding toys for a movie that came out 2 years ago. DS’ birthday is coming up and he LOVES the Disney Cars movies. I’m looking for some of the die cast vehicles of the non-main characters and they’re either like $30 a piece on Amazon or come from China and wouldn’t arrive on time. #momproblems
You know what I hate? I hate when people send a meeting invite late Sunday night for a 7am meeting on Monday morning. That really starts my week off poorly, especially since I go to bed early these days so didn't see it until this morning and subsequently had to scramble to make sure I was ready an hour earlier than planned!
I sucked at keeping up last week and probably will this week too.
Spent what time I wasn't working prepping the house for this week. My parents host a Cousins Camp every year for their 5 grandkids. They range from 14-6 (DS is the youngest until DD is born).
Yesterday was the official start of Cousins Camp and I've been deemed extra camp counselor to help my step mother (she is 67 and has been having heart issue symptoms ((she's prone to heart attacks)).
So I'll be sucked into keeping kids happy, relatively quite (one kiddo is on the spectrum and can't handle loud noises) and from tearing each other apart. Yay! :P
Then to cap off Cousins Camp, we are having DS' birthday party on Saturday at a gymnastics place. So I gotta get all that prepped.
I'm already exhausted.

I’ve been hit by a yucky cold and sore throat, but am at work anyway because I’m trying to save leave for maternity leave. This system sucks.
On the the plus side, I’ve gotten hooked on The Office so that gave me something to do while I was trying to rest over the weekend. 😊
Quoting instead of a new gif because this one is the best ever. Sorry you are feeling sick, @greenbean-2 but yay for another Office fan! Hope you feel better soon.

That's almost as bad as scheduling meetings at 4:30 on a Friday....
So I took DD to the park late morning yesterday before we started our errands. We were there for about 45 mins to an hour. I got super burnt on my back so I'm a bit uncomfortable today with my work shirt. DD though got tanned.....go figure lol
We finished our inspection way early, so I now can change into comfy clothes before heading back to the office since I was only up the street from home
It was our anniversary yesterday and we celebrated by biking a picnic to a beach and then my H cooked dinner while I napped/read. My mom came over from my sister's house and took some maternity photos and we finally announced on FB. So good to feel all the love!
Is now a good time to admit that I've never watched The Office or Parks and Recs?...I'll go take a seat far far away now
@cheznet that sounds like the perfect anniversary! I'm trying to plan ours for next month and might make it super New England by going to a bed and breakfast and hiking around a mountain (casual hiking which will be more like long walks lol)
@melanier26 my son loves Cars, we kinda drove(haaa) him into it cause Daddy is a car guy/mechanic. When we did his room, thankfully Cars 3 was coming out but anything for the other 2 is hard to get! I found a Lightening McQueen tv(the old tube style Disney TV's!!) For 25 bucks on a Spring Cleaning Facebook site and bought it immediately. He has a radio/cd player too he broke (the top won't stay down now 😭) and a lot.of the Cars 3 toys. I'm in the same boat now though with Wreck it Ralph. There's clothes and stuffed animals....but barely toys for under 30/40 bucks anywhere😭
6 and a half days off was amazing. We had a fun week.
DS is 4 today!!!😍😭😍😭 I can't decide how to feel. Daddy comes home at 1130 and we're going to a small zoo not too far for the day. We spent this whole week out doing stuff, we did our towns 4th of July fest and went to the carnival, several fireworks, parades and the new splash pad opening which got rained on but we still had fun! Also I made a breakthrough with my oldest SIL I think. 6 years this year with SO and she's called me Aunt like twice. (And I was around the day our neice was born, the boys are older) we hung out at her house twice in a row this weekend😱 thats pretty big! Poor DD got her first sunburn, they're both so fair(I'm tan, and daddy is a ghost😂 so they got daddy's skin) I got shoulder burn but it's not bad, mine go away in a day. Her little face and her forearms are pretty red though 😔 DS got some on his shoulder. Neither are crying, or complaining of it. I out some aloe on and we'll we doubling down on sunscreen today.
We're having DS party at our house this weekend and I think I found a steal on a patio table (we don't have one😱) and I'm waiting on the guy to message me back! I sure hope so though cause it has a huge umbrella and we have 2 trees behind our garage in our back yard, so zero shade by the swings and kiddie pool. Ughh. We do have our hose now!!
We took the kids kayaking on the lake on Friday. Between that and the race Thursday, I have yet to recover. My eyelids are so heavy and I can't stop eating. That's not necessarily new, just increased in intensity.
@marbellie I’ve never watched Parks and Recreation either. Glad to know I’m not the only one!!
@jenferlee82 I absolutely hate that too! I was late to a department wide meeting last year from a late invite like that because I didn’t check my emails first thing in the morning. Guess what I now do each morning without fail?
I’m starting to feel the moving crunch and the brunt of my workload. I have so much to do in a short period of time and cried on my way to work this morning. I don’t know if it is hormones or tiredness or work stress or probably just a combination of everything but yeah, that was fun 😕
At another physics training this week. This time, it's a curriculum I'm way more confident in, so I feel like a rockstar. Unfortunately, heartburn is making me feel nauseated basically all day, so that's fun. Also, I slept like crap last night, and I don't know why. FX I get to stay asleep tonight!
For the month of July there is a band concert that plays on Mondays at the town gazebo. It’s nice to sit here and enjoy the humidity free weather while the kids run around.

@jenferlee82 I second the ridiculousness of having to check work on the weekends and meetings being planned last minute. It's a pet peeve I have with SO's job as well.
@greenbean2 sorry you're sick. Sounds a lot like my cold, which sadly still isn't gone, and I forced myself to work through too. Just hope yours ends quicker.
@nachellebeck13 that sounds ambitious, exhausting, and tons of fun. Enjoy!

A few years ago we had this problem when my oldest liked Special Agent Oso but it wasn’t even on the air anymore. He wanted a Special Agent Oso birthday party and let me tell you it was impossible. Good luck to you!

This is crazy to me. Who would think that’s ok? I question businesses that are not aware that their employees have lives.
SO's sister and two kids are visiting from AZ this last week and a half, so we spent the weekend with them and their parents at an indoor waterpark. It was a blast! The park itself was really cool with a lot to do, water slides and adorable toddler wading pool areas indoors and out. Lots of dining and shopping and a huge arcade within it. DS did so well for his first time at something like that I was really impressed. He got along excellently with his older cousins, 4 and 8, was not intimidated or overwhelmed by the amount of people or extremity of the attractions, and was really well behaved for a toddler under 2. Despite the usual drama that sis and kiddos brought along (oof that 4 year old is a bundle of neuroses) and his parents driving each other nuts, lol, it was a really great time. On the way home we made our favorite pit stop at this amazing chocolatier that we never spend less than $60 at, but it's so worth it in yumminess. The stupid cold reared its ugly head back again for DS and I by the end though so it is nice to be back home and back in our own beds and normal routines.

@cooaladolly I was wondering where I caught it from! Apparently you’re contagious over the internet. 😉
Dude! I wondered the same when I got it. No one else I knew had it. I usually pick stuff up from DS, but I asked at daycare and nothing was going around. This one's a mysterious mental bug I must have sent your way 😜

Walked into this at work this morning. 3rd shift had a potluck last night and barely anyone ate. Guess I won’t need the food I brought for breakfast and lunch today.
