@emily1052 that's rough to have to go through and seemingly unnecessary grilling to qualify for a health benefit. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

@emily1052 Wow. She could have prefaced it with a "sorry I have to ask these questions" or something to humanize your feelings AND the situation. Sorry that happened!
Hi! Whit Monday was yesterday and a federal holiday in Germany. I've been spending a lot of time in our yard the past couple of weeks even though I definitely don't consider myself a garden person. But the blueberries and tomatoes are coming along just fine. Can't wait for them to be ready! Also our back fence borders on the forest, so there's tons of wild blackberries pushing through the fence. I tied the branches all up to the chain links so they wouldn't reach into the yard, with the not totally unexpected bonus of having blackberries without getting your arms scratched to bits.
This month is going to be crazy at work, but it seems like July will be less intense. I just gotta get through the next 3 weeks...
Didn't have a chance to stop in yesterday so.. Hi!! I really should have gone to yard sales this weekend -- I love getting kid stuff second hand. With DD we got a few huge bags of really nice clothes from one of H's coworkers, from about 6m all the way through 2T, it was honestly the bulk of her wardrobe. I'm hoping for some nice boy hand me downs because I really don't want to buy everything new!
Also random, at the zoo on Sunday, DD got to pet an armadillo! It was so cute. You could go in the pen with them and "play" with them, and they are surprisingly fast -- it was so funny watching her run around try to pet them. And the zoo keepers said that they love the play time, so it's not like they're letting kids in to torture the animals or anything
OH and ETA: YES to feeling super pregnant. I get winded at the slightest thing, despite still working out regularly. I also can't bend over without feeling like I can't breathe, and I'm definitely already starting to do the waddle sometimes!
I had a dental appointment this morning (my least favorite thing ever) and now I’m waiting for the chiropractor. I’ll make it work eventually at some point today
My toddler is not cooperating at bedtime lately, which is especially rough since we're traveling and staying with family. There has been about an hour of screaming tantrum basically every night for the past week. I think we've decided this is the last long Canada Trip until baby #2 (current PG, or even the hypothetical #3) is about six yo. If we were staying in place the whole time that might be different, but we are constantly on the go here, and it's just too hard on a little kid.
Here, but mostly lurking. My motivation has been lacking the last couple days and apparently that extends to posting here.
All the garage sales sound like fun! A friend stopped by over the weekend and gave us some of her daughter’s more gender neutral baby clothes. Confession? I don’t care if my baby boy wears a little bit of pink here and there while he’s a newborn.
We spent a good chunk of time this weekend getting rid of stuff in our office - most of our DVDs and CDs (we don’t even have an easy way to play them anymore), and a bunch of books. We have to clean out the office so we can convert the office into an office/ guest room, so we can move stuff out of the guest room to turn it into a nursery. It’s going to take awhile...
@mrsinterweb Keeping everything crossed for you today.
@steminist Remind me how old your toddler is? My almost 2 year old had a few bad bedtimes about a week ago. It was like a switch, and all of a sudden she went from asking to go in her crib and happily falling asleep to crying and begging us to stay with her. A lot of friends with toddlers this age went through the same thing. We had a few rough days and nights, but now she’s back to normal. All of this to say - maybe it’s not just your vacation, but some bad luck developmentally on top of it. Hope it gets easier soon!
I'm in my last week of school, which is mainly longer than normal read alouds and keeping the kids occupied writing poetry and stuff (2nd grade). After today, two more days or real teaching cause Friday's a half day. Can't wait. Also, it's been too hot and my husband and I took turns spraying each other with the hose and giggling after work yesterday.
Anytime a random person asks when I’m due, I retort “not nearly soon enough.” I’ve had enough of the comments on my size that this tends to get people to back off and realize I’m not in the mood to chat about my current condition
@greenbean-2 He's a little over 2.5 yrs. He's been having trouble at home lately, too, so you're right that it's likely developmental on top of travel, it's just felt worse since we're not at home and we are sharing houses with family. He's extra wound up from the attention and stimulation, and we are extra sensitive about of all the witnesses to his difficult behavior. Everyone is super sweet and understanding, being parents themselves, but it still feels embarrassing to be having the tantrums.
@cmbt2 I like how you handle that. People should really just STFU on asking/ commenting on womens pregnancies
She asked the question with the tone of “its GOT to be soon!” and I’m tired of it 😪 I have a bowling ball carry, I always have, so people always assume I’m way further along than I actually am 🤷🏼♀️ (you know, because the moment you round out, you’re supposed to have a baby like in the movies 🙄)
I’ve been so scarce and feeling lots of FOMO. Work is insane right now! I’m opening up a new project in a few weeks and my contribution will be inconsistent until it’s complete.
Im finally feeling baby boy consistently and it makes me so happy! DD1 and DH finally felt him. 😍

With this one I feel I've been pregnant for EVER. Like yay, 24 weeks next week but that's still 4 months away from EDD. I've been showing for what feels like two months and so tired during the day (and then waking at 5:30 on the regular). Fun! I keep telling myself once baby gets here it will just be even busier so I should be thankful for the "peace" I have now.
@steminist We went through the same thing with DD when we went on vacation last year. We did split days in a hotel and then a cabin. While I tried to stick to bed time routine it was rough. When we got home it was still difficult. The only thing that really seem to work was just keeping on track with the routine and eventually it got better.
@cmbt2 Were you the one who mentioned previously that you had gotten a "late payment notice" from the IRS after paying your taxes under the secondary SSN instead of the primary one? I just got one of those and couldn't remember what you said you did to resolve it. Am I misremembering or was that you?

Yes! It was relatively easy- I had my H call and explain. The rep was able to pull up the payment under his SSN and the taxes under mine as primary. They said it’s an easy switch but they have to manually do it. If you call right away, they waived the late fees for us because it’s a technicality on their end and the taxes were paid on time

Perfect, thank you! Pretty funny to get a notice two months later. The IRS at work, I guess.
Well that was fun. Just spent the last 20 minutes trying to get through to the IRS. After going through a bunch of options on their phone menu, I waited on hold for a long time and then got an automated message saying they were "too busy to answer my call today" and to "please try back on the next business day."
@meagan-t oh, it wasn't a self control thing. I don't usually order grinders from the local pizza place (occasionally, but not as often as pizza) and forgot that their smalls are not always enough for my non preg self.
Did I tell you guys I tentatively scheduled my c-section for 9/27? They wanted to do it in week 39 and that seemed like the best day. I still am on the fence but wanted to have a date if I officially decide to go that route. Anyway, the other day I got a letter in the mail from the hospital with my c-section date and time and it just made it seem SO REAL!! I know i still might not have the surgery but having official documentation in hand felt so weird.
So anyway, my S16 was due 9/30 but actually came in October, so it only makes sense my O19 might actually come in December!

I certainly hope not!! But I know what your saying, and I like that swap, its fitting!
Along with some of you ladies I’ve went from not feeling pregnant at all to OMG I’m a whale. Out of breath constantly, struggling to roll, and things I drop are already dead to me unless one of my kids is near me or the dog who has become good and grabbing things off the floor for me.

I think DH called around 4:30p when we had to do this and it took a good 45 minutes to reach someone. They told us this happens a lot
@prpl11butterfly DH and I went to D’Angelo’s the other evening for a quick dinner date. I ordered a medium Thanksgiving toasted but really wanted a large. And so sorry about your house hunting. You are more than welcomed to look in my town and be my neighbor!

I was traveling for work and the check in guy politely asked if I was expecting. I said that I was.He gave me preboarding, which was awesome. I was flying southwest where seats aren’t assigned and it’s first come first serve! I guess I can stop being in denial that I’ve popped, but it has its perks!
Yesterday was my birthday and DHs gift to me is a date day complete with an appointment for a massage at a local spa, and then a kid-free dinner and shopping spree for whatever I like. I kinda like that guy. 😘
Re: Weekly Randoms 6/10
@meagan-t however you want to express your loss (externally or internally) is the right thing for you
Edited to say: Came to add that I am really looking forward to TW Tuesday tomorrow because someone just made it on my S list. Grrrrrrrrr

@steminist I don't blame you. Trips that require changing base a lot are so hard with littles.
