For this first check-in, if you would like to, explain what makes your pregnancy high risk:
My age; I’m 41, I have hypertension, TW... also with my 17wk MMC in 2013 I hemorrhaged and needed transfusions ASAP so now I have funky antibodies in my blood that have to be watched...End TW Oy.

    FTM/STM/TTM+:
    4TM

    Fine. Just not sleeping well.

    Milestones/Rants/Raves:
I passed 17 weeks which feels good

GTKY: If you could Babymoon anywhere in the world where would you go?
I’m a huge Disneyphile so I’m always game
for Disneyland/World. But since I can’t ride any of my favorites maybe, Hawaii? I’ve never been.

    Edited to add TW

  • There’s kind of a mish mash of things that is making them keep a closer eye on me.  I had hypertension with my son towards the end and was induced a few days early, so I’m being watched for it this time around. TW In the last year I’ve lost 4 naturally conceived pregnancies and had a failed IVF cycle with all abnormal embryos.  Two of the embryos had trisomy 18, so we were nervous about that, but everything looks good so far.  I’ll be doing a level two ultrasound for the anatomy scan to further rule out any abnormalities that could be missed by the screening bloodwork.  Our losses were too early to test, but the doctors assume they were abnormal as I have very low amh (.17, it should be above 2) for my age (31), so I definitely have low ovarian reserve and most likely have an egg quality issue and they don’t know why (no trauma or chemo in my past).  End TW.  We found out we were pregnant with this baby days before starting injections for my second and final round of IVF, so we are very, very fortunate to be here!

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 11/28, 14w5d

    FTM/STM/TTM+: stm

Upcoming Appointments: end of June with my midwife, July 1st MFM ultrasound

How are you feeling?: still nauseous and getting sick, but I have more energy so I can complain!

Milestones/Rants/Raves: nipt came back low risk last week, and that was a huge relief.

GTKY: If you could Babymoon anywhere in the world where would you go? Bermuda since it’s close (really hoping to be able to sneak there for a long weekend this summer) or Kauai, Hawaii if I could teleport there since I hate long flights!  @pintobean77 definitely try to go to HI, it’s an amazing place!
  • @rogro118 What a miracle your sweet baby is. So glad your NIPT test came back good. That must a load off your shoulders! I find that as the days go by I start to breathe a little easier. I hope it’s the same for you...

We live in Western Washington so Hawaii isn’t too far away, I don’t know why we haven’t gone yet. We really need to rectify that situation!
  • @pintobean77 for sure.  This was a big week for my emotions and I’m definitely start to let myself enjoy this bit by bit!

We we went to Kauai and Oahu in 2015, it was literally the most amazing place, with the best fresh produce and fish I’ve ever eaten (and we live on the ocean, I’m used to good fish!).  Kauai is so so beautiful, but when we go back I’ll definitely try to get to Maui too as I’ve heard great things about that island.  My friends were stationed there for the Army for a few years and I’m so happy we made the trip to go visit them!

For this first check-in, if you would like to, explain what makes your pregnancy high risk:
My age (43).  But mostly I had cervical cancer 5 yrs ago and had a trachelectomy (cervix removal).  I do have an abdominal cerclage placed but its still very risky 2nd trimester and beyond if it doesn't hold (risk of preterm labor).   Doctor saw some weakening 2 wks ago, so I've been on modified bed rest since then, and will be likely throughout the rest of the pregnancy.

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:  Nov 3rd.  18 wks 3 days.  @pintobean77 we are due date buddies!   Although I will likely deliver earlier with a csection.  Hoping to make it to 36-37 wks.

    FTM/STM/TTM+:  FTM

Upcoming Appointments: Anatomy scan and cervix check on 6/14

How are you feeling?:  Generally OK, though a little bored being stuck at home.  Once in a while I get a painful cramp which freaks me out, but they are thankfully few and far between

Milestones/Rants/Raves:  I didn't think I'd ever get to be here -- at my age and with my history.  I'm so thankful to be able to experience pregnancy.  BUT....I sometimes get really angry that everything is so hard.  Because of the bedrest, we likely won't be able to go on babymoon.  Every appointment is nervewracking.  Its summer and I feel can't I enjoy my pregnancy or "show it off" since I can't go anywhere....

GTKY: If you could Babymoon anywhere in the world where would you go?   Hawaii sounds amazing.  I've only ever been to Waikiki and that was for work so not the same.   Anywhere MH and I could go relax and enjoy being a family of 2 for the last time.  But I guess thats what the first 43 yrs of my life have been!
  • @natehk you should totally do a sort of at-home baby moon for a long weekend...get a private chef to come to your house for a nice dinner, schedule a house cleaner, and find an in in-home masseuse, you totally deserve to treat yourself after all the bedrest!
  • I’m considered high risk due to my age, 41

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:
    11/17  16w 2d

    FTM/STM/TTM+:
    3rd

    Upcoming Appointments:
    6/21 regular OB appointment
    7/1 anatomy ultrasound

    How are you feeling?:
pretty good. I get tired easily but since it’s summer I can take a nap in the afternoon. I’ve not been very hungry at all which I think is strange. I kind of have to force myself to eat.

    Milestones/Rants/Raves:

GTKY: If you could Babymoon anywhere in the world where would you go?
anywhere tropical and all inclusive adults only!

Thats such a good idea @rogro118 !!!  Thank you for the suggestion - makes me feel a little more excited:)
  • For this first check-in, if you would like to, explain what makes your pregnancy high risk:
My OB says I have a lot of "high risk markers" but refuses to label me as "high risk" just yet, though he's already planning on sending me to a maternal-fetal specialist soon. I am only 28, but this is an IVF pregnancy, I have had open-heart surgery with the potential for a valve replacement in the future and a history of cardiac issues, I have an uncommon autoimmune platelet/clotting disorder called ITP, I have developed hypothyroidism, and I also have PCOS. For all of these reasons, I'm currently monitored by several specialists in addition to my OB. Because my OB hasn't technically declared me to be "high risk" yet, I don't know if that means I technically belong here right now, but I don't have any friends who have had complicated pregnancies so I wanted someone to talk to :)

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 11/13 (16 weeks and 6 days)

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Upcoming Appointments: Friday for a second round of bloodwork because it's usually medically necessary before they can perform the higher level ultrasounds they will need to make sure baby's heart is okay due to my own cardiac history. The first round of tests came back perfectly, but they're doing this so we dont have to waste time waiting for prerequisite testing before they can do the ultrasounds they want to.

How are you feeling?: pretty good!

Milestones/Rants/Raves: we found out on Saturday that we are having a boy and we are both over the moon!

GTKY: If you could Babymoon anywhere in the world where would you go?

On a beach in the Mediterranean somewhere- I've always wanted to go to the South of France or Greece or Italy.
  • What makes your pregnancy high risk:
    AMA – I’m 35   High BMI

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:
    11/18; 16w, 2d

    FTM/STM/TTM+:
    3TM

    Upcoming Appointments:
This Friday with my regular OB.

    How are you feeling?:
Great, for the most part.  Keeping active and trying to eat well.

    Milestones/Rants/Raves:
I have a uterine fibroid this time around.  Hoping it plays nice this pregnancy and doesn’t cause complications.

GTKY: If you could Babymoon anywhere in the world where would you go?
We just took a trip to Ireland beginning of April.  I guess that could be considered our Babymoon.

  • @natehk Yay for due date buddies! I have had to have C/S since my first (she was an emergency) so they usually deliver me at 39 weeks but this time my doctor said due to other factors we will deliver at 38 so we very well could be delivery buddies too!

@alwayseloquent That’s quite a list you’ve got going there. I never minded being sent to MFM since I always got to see/hear baby more often. It’s nice for my PGAL brain. Hoping your pregnancy is uneventful with everything they have to keep an eye on.

@perfectoops Ireland sounds amazing! It’s near the top of my list of places I want to see.
  • @alwayseloquent my husband has ITP, have you had your spleen removed?
  • @drama_llama nope, I have not had my spleen removed. My hematologist said it's not supposed to be hereditary, but my mom and maternal grandfather both have it too. No one can explain it.
  • For this first check-in, if you would like to, explain what makes your pregnancy high risk: Age-35 and IVF

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: November 11-- 17 weeks 6 days

    FTM/STM/TTM+:  STM

    Upcoming Appointments: Next Friday

How are you feeling?: Throw up each morning, weird appetite, and still exhausted

Milestones/Rants/Raves: NIPT was low risk... and the results told us we are having another girl!

GTKY: If you could Babymoon anywhere in the world where would you go? No babymoon for us... but if we could.. and had a ton of money--- the Maldives!!
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • @pintobean77 we love Disney too and live right next to Disneyland, splurged for the season passes this year!  Can't wait to bring our little one there !

@gapmom2019 yay for due date buddies

What makes your pregnancy high risk: 41 yo; IVF pregnancy; have Crohn's disease (thought it's in remission right now, thank goodness and fingers crossed)

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: November 17th, 17+2 weeks

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Upcoming Appointments:  Meeting with Midwives tomorrow afternoon

How are you feeling?:  Good!  So much better now that first trimester is over!

Milestones/Rants/Raves:  It felt like getting to 10 weeks was a big milestone, since the risk of miscarriage drops dramatically at that point.  I really wish they had told us that bleeding was common with IVF; we completely freaked out when if first happened and thought we were losing the baby.  Then weeks of bed rest and constant worrying were not fun!

GTKY: If you could Babymoon anywhere in the world where would you go?  Hawaii.  Alas, probably not going to happen since we really can't go that far.  We'll probably try to at least have a few days someplace more local.
