  • @kopp5988 - SO NICE & yay for a new kitchen!!!! And that is a relatively quick turn around.  I love the cabinets going up to the ceiling now!

  • @kopp5988 your kitchen is beautiful!!
  • @kopp5988 that looks amazing! I love the wall colour!! It must feel so relieving to have that done
  • @Dancer688 @emeraldcity1214 @alaluap thank you!! Such a relief to have done and now I’m slowly adding everything back in because I want it to be perfectly organized
  • @kopp5988 I'm trying to convince DH to build a house instead of just buying one. I want to pick out my cabinets and have all the nice built in organizing drawers, etc.

@kopp5988 beautiful!! And now you’ll be perfectly organized too 🤗
  • @emeraldcity1214 that is my dream one day! It’s so much easier to get exactly what you want and much more cost effective too. Plus you have the added comfort of knowing all the construction was done by professionals and not some clueless DIYer who could have made the house unsafe.

@mc0303 yup! There’s even a pull out spice rack right next to the stove which I’m embarrassingly excited about hahaha
  • @kopp5988 wow your kitchen looks great!! I really want to redo ours, it’s so old and the tile floor is kind of starting to fall apart. I’m thinking maybe next year.

Im waiting to get my nails done. I guess I should have come earlier, it’s packed!
  • @creamcheeseplease - Ohh a manicure.  That is on my to do list plus getting my hair done.  It is so hard to schedule out that time when all I want to do right now in my free time is sleep.
  • @creamcheeseplease we used vinyl plank flooring and I love it, highly recommend it. It’s waterproof and looks like wood and has texture unlike laminate

My husband was literally just talking about this type of floor yesterday! I’m glad to hear you love yours.
  •  I was at the beach all day today. We had soooooo much fun! The kids built sand castles and played in the water. We went with 2 of our friends and had 6 kids total, so very busy.

Planning a Disney World trip for Nov 2020. Feeling like a crazy person 😂 I’ll have a 1 and almost 4 year old. In my other BMB we have a lot of Florida girls who take their babies/toddlers all the time so I’m feeling excited.

  • @Kurtni - YAYYYY DISNEY!!!! So not crazy. We went last year with that same age and it was AMAZING.  They were the perfect ages for the characters.  We are gearing up for a trip in September (clearly scheduled before I found out I was pregnant) but I am still exciting.  I am such a Disney fan.
  • I still haven't found an OB in AK. I'm beginning to think maybe I should just find one but plan to have a home delivery with my husband. Just us and his mom (she is a midwife). That way I don't have to worry about leaving the hospital AMA when they try to force me to stay for no reason. I just hate having to go to the hospital at all.

I'm pretty sure DH will shoot this idea down.
  • @emeraldcity1214 is your DH's mom in AK too? That will be nice to have her around especially since she's a midwife.

I'm struggling through a budget worksheet now... my supervisor's department is a bit over budget at this point in the year, haha. Hey, I don't spend the money, just allocate it after the fact...
  • @creamcheeseplease yes, his mom and dad and all but 1 sibling lives in AK. His other brother lives in Canada. She is coming to take care of the kids while I deliver this baby. Plus, I like having someone there for a week or so to help with the other kids so I can sleep in with the baby.
  • @emeraldcity1214 that's great! My mom lives fairly close by and I hope she'll be able to take time off work to come help. MH is not able to take off a lot of time after this baby comes. He took off almost a month with DS, but he's in a different position now and this baby comes at the end of the year, so a different time situation. Having help with the other kids is so important.

Anyone else have anything exciting going on this week?

@Dancer688 so good to hear that it was a good trip! The characters are exactly why I want to go while my son is young. I didn’t realize how many toddler friendly rides Disney had, I guess because I’ve always went when I was older.

I still haven't told my job that I'm KU-ed! EEKS! I keep planning to do it and then I just don't... I think I'll do it tomorrow though.

I've been trying to think of not crazy expensive day trips for the 4th of July weekend. Anyone going anywhere fun or doing anything particularly exciting?

I was thinking of roadtripping up to Sequoia National Park.

I'm pretty sure I'm melting.  Its 105 INSIDE my work today. Ew.
  • @angieeeeee ugghhh, I’m sorry.  Isn’t there some sort of osha rule about workplace temperature?? Be careful!

@rogro118 I work in a warehouse, so I think they're able to bypass it. At least that was my understanding when it was being talked about last summer.
They've been doing it this way for 25 years and nothing yet, so it probably won't change soon. But I knew what I was getting into when I decided to work here.
  • I slept like crap last night. I think my body was angry at me for all the packing and heavy lifting I did. I packed up my kitchen so it was a lot of work. Plus DD2 is sick and only wanted to be held so I let her sleep on my back in my ergo. She stayed there for 3 hours. Way too long I guess.

I think I'm going to go order some prescription sunglasses since I can no longer wear my contacts. I will likely do a target run too.
  • I woke up with a minor sore throat. I really hate getting sick when I'm pregnant, so I'm hoping it doesnt turn into much!

  • So we just got to my in-laws house today.  Took til 10 pm for my 3 yo to get to sleep and then at midnight my 1 yo got up screaming. Be they don't have AC, we are all trying to sleep in one room and to top it off we are in bunk beds that haven't been replaced in 15 + years.

As my 1 yo is screaming at 2 am trying to get out of her pack and play and I lay uncomfortably staring at the top bunk....am I going to look like a complete ahole for packing at least me and the 1 yo and heading home tomorrow and having my husband rent a car and complete the trip with my 3 yo they Sunday.

  • @Dancer688 omg that sounds awful! No I don’t think it’s rude of you to leave, I think it’s rude they crammed 4 of you in a bunk room with no air conditioner!!
  • @Dancer688 This is why I don't stay with people. I get hotels. They can offer all they want but I'm still getting a hotel. Plus no AC is a big NO for me.
  • @Dancer688 wow that sounds awful and so uncomfortable! I wouldn't blame you if you cut out early at all.

I was on a phone call with a client last night after I put DS to bed, and he came running upstairs and headed straight for me. First time ever he's been able to climb out of his crib. He's over 2 so I know many kids figure out how to get out much earlier.. but honestly I am super scared of the toddler bed transition.
  • @creamcheeseplease My kids have all done really well with the toddler bed transition. Especially DD1, she never got out of bed once.

@Dancer688 I have wonderful great grandparents who have a crappy AC and I can’t stay at their house in the summer for that reason. My 2yo will. not. sleep. if it’s hot (me either, really). They might take it hard (my grandparents ALWAYS act surprised when we stay in a hotel and we’ve been doing it for years) but I think you’re right to not want to do that again.

@creamcheeseplease  bed transition was super easy with my guy.  We took the side off the crib when he was about 18 months, and then he got a twin bed for his second birthday. Hope you have an easy time too!

  • My MIL is a smoker. I get migraines and smoke is a trigger. They still act offended when we get a hotel.  I am not judging, I just don't want to spend 4 days with a migraine!
  • @creamcheeseplease I was nervous about the transition too. He did really well. We got a toddler bed off of Amazon and he got to help build it. That really increased buy-in from him. He was so excited to sleep in the bed "he bulit with Daddy"

@creamcheeseplease we did the transition this week, and it’s been going so well!  He’s actually been sleeping longer stretches at night, like 7pm-8am the last few nights.  I just did a twin mattress on the floor since we’ll be switching his room in the Fall before the baby arrives, so we’ll deal with getting a bed frame then.  I’m so relieved it went to easy, I was scared for sure!  He’s so proud of his big boy bed and doesn’t even want to rock in his chair before bed anymore 😭 (as if this wasn’t hard enough for me!!)
  • @drama_llama I wouldn't be around a smoker with my kids period. No way! It is a huge deal to me.
  • @emeraldcity1214 she doesn't smoke around us or our son.  It's her health and her choice.  She's an informed adult, she was an ER nurse for 27 years, she won't expose the grandkids to the smoke.  I am not going to judge her or going to withhold a relationship. I just don't want to stay in their home. She doesn't smoke in the house but it lingers and travels enough that it still triggers me.
  • @drama_llama I would still have a problem with it. I don't judge people who do it, I used to smoke for years (maybe that's why I feel so strongly about it 🤷‍♀️). For me, even third hand smoke is a big deal when it comes to my kids. So if someone wants to be around them, they can't do it if they even have a lingering smoke smell. Luckily, we don't have family who smokes.
  • My in laws smoke. I am also a former smoker and it is annoying to me, but there's nothing I can do about it. They don't do it around us and also live very far away. It will be gross when they come to visit when the baby comes, but actually the biggest offender is my SMIL and she isn't really a baby person at all. She didn't come up to meet DS until he was 8 mo old. MH does ecigs now which I also don't love but its sooooo much better than the smoking.

Happy friday guys! I'm hoping for a productive day here at the office and also to sneak out to get a manicure over lunch time. I'm going to visit my parents tomorrow morning and then MH will be off from work in the afternoon so hoping for good weather and some outside deck time. Any fun weekend plans?
  • Today is my birthday! I'm officially a geriatric maternity patient. 😂
