  • What number are you trying for? 2

    Month/Cycle? 2/1

    WTO/TWW? TWW

    Ages of other child(ren)? 2

Any thoughts about this cycle?  I keep going back and forth from being really excited at the possibility to knowing it’s not likely cycle one.

    Any questions? Not now

Rant/Rave/Brag: on Saturday I’m going to and helping with a bridal shower for my cousin! I’m really excited for it but I’ll be leaving DS for pretty much the whole day since it’s 2 hours away. I’m a little nervous since I’ve never left him for more than 4ish hours and he still nurses every few hours. Daddy and sippy cups are just going to have to do though.

GTKY: What’s your favorite summer smell? Campfires 🔥I love s’mores and hot dogs and just the heat that comes off from the fire

    Month/Cycle? 7

    WTO/TWW? WTO

    Ages of other child(ren)? 18 months 😭

Any thoughts about this cycle? Every month I’m so hopeful it’s going to be the one

    Any questions? Nope

Rant/Rave/Brag: We had such a great weekend and made 2 purchases we have been wanting to make for pretty much the past year - a dining table for our deck and a king size bed! I hated every second of mattress shopping but I cannot wait for the bed to get here.

GTKY: Campfires for sure but since @varimama already said that I’m going to add pool chlorine!

  • bows22bows22 member
@varimama are you so excited to get a break for a day on Saturday? I think it’s pretty amazing that you are still nursing and that frequently but it has to be so hard!

  • What number are you trying for? 2

Any thoughts about this cycle? Can’t stop CS, seriously need to be reigned in, at 9DPO dying to test but first time around got BFN until 13-14DPO so feeling like I should be patient, still wanting to POAS now...
Any questions? When to POAS? What’s reasonable here?
Rant/Rave/Brag: Had a great long weekend mini vacay with the fam!
GTKY: What’s your favorite summer smell? Tomato plants, with or without tomatoes on them, the plant itself is heavenly.
  • @varimama I'm sure DS will be fine!
@bows22 Exciting purchases... especially the new bed!

What number are you trying for? 2
    Month/Cycle? 5/5
WTO/TWW? Probably TWW... although I'm still waiting on FF CH.
Ages of other child(ren)? 21 months
Any thoughts about this cycle? More hopeful than previous cycles!
    Any questions? Nope
Rant/Rave/Brag: I was away from the bump the weekend, but it was nice! We cooked out with friends, had an extra day home with DS, and we managed to do much better with our timing, this time around... but we'll see!
GTKY: What’s your favorite summer smell? Probably the charcoal grill, since that means good food is on its way!

  • @bows22 you are going to love the king bed! Our lives got so much better once we got one! I am looking forward to a day off. Kind of wish it was more like half a day so I’d be less worried but it’ll be ok I’m sure. He seems happy enough with dad so I’m probably going to have a harder time than him.

@craftywitch I got a very faint bfp first time around at 10dpo so that’s the earliest I plan to test this time around. But that is still early and depending on what tests you use (and if ovulation is off by a day or 2) you could still get a negative and be pregnant. I plan to test every 2 days until a positive or AF.

@MrsVP614 glad you had a nice long weekend and better timing!

@everyone all your smells sound good too, I think maybe summer just smells good 🤣

@craftywitch I have seen people on here with + at 9 DPO so I always think of that as reasonable and any earlier that I’m just BSC

@MrsVP614 I’m glad you got better timing! sounds like you had a great weekend too!

@varimama when I feel bad about leaving DD for
the day/night, I always have an easier time when she’s with my H because it’s good for them to get the alone time together. I’m sure they will have a blast without you!
  • MrsVP614  I'm glad you are more hopeful this cycle!!
craftywitch  glad you had a nice long weekend. Good luck holding out on testing!!! I broke today BFN.
bows22 congrats on the purchases! yay!

Any thoughts about this cycle? Longest LP since I started cycling, but that's due to the prometrium suppositories my OB finally gave me. I've never made it past 8 days and today is 10dpo.
    Any questions?  Not right now
Rant/Rave/Brag: Rant: BFN at 10dpo. Like.... why did I even do that? I was negative with DS at that time too.. but I also have ZERO symptoms. Rave: Progesterone supplements have kept AF away for at least one extra day. So happy about that. And *might* try again on our own next cycle if my LP is long enough instead of moving forward to the RE.
GTKY: What’s your favorite summer smell? I like the smell after a rainstorm in the summer. But also all the grill smells and chlorine!

@flinstone-2 I’m sorry about the BFN. I was negative with DD at 10 DPO too but I always cave and test early because I see so many people who get positives at 9-10 DPO. I’m glad the prometrieum is working though!
  • @varimama it will be a great bonding day for dad and your DS!  Enjoy your day with family!

@bows22 you're going to love your new king size bed!!!  Our bed is my favorite place haha  I've also been wanting a dining table set for our backyard for a while now... just haven't done it yet!  Also... pool chlorine?!?!

@flinstone-2 that's great that the prometrium is doing it's job and helping with your LP length!

What number are you trying for? THB number 2

    Month/Cycle? 8 / 6 (AL)

    WTO/TWW? WTO

Ages of other child(ren)? He'll be 7 in month  :'(

Any thoughts about this cycle? Back to feeling hopeful haha I'm giving OPKs a chance this time around and I go to my OB for my annual tomorrow so I'll be asking a bunch of questions and I'm anxious to hear her input and opinions.

Any questions? If you do an OPK at work... how do you sneak the strip back to your desk to wait the 5-10 minutes?!  How do you sneak the pee cup into the bathroom?  I'm stressing about how to do this at work.

Rant/Rave/Brag: We had a GREAT long weekend with family!  It was awesome to see my brother, sis-in law and the kids.  I am also so happy watching the cousins play together.  Yesterday DS was with his dad so DH and I got to have an adult pool day with some friends and just relax with a drink in our hands!

GTKY: What’s your favorite summer smell? I'm jumping on the campfire and smores smell!

Hi! I intro’d in the newbie thread. I’m Tyrion, formerly MotherofDragons. I was posting back in the winter and thankfully don’t recognize too many names around here. Nice to meet everyone.

What number are you trying for? 3

    Month/Cycle? 1/1 AL

    WTO/TWW? WTO

Ages of other child(ren)? 4 and almost 2

Any thoughts about this cycle? *TW loss* yea, it sucks. And I know I’m in for a wild ride while my body regulates.

Any questions? None right now. Interested to see what my body does to adjust back.

Rant/Rave/Brag: so glad it’s a 4 day work week and my husband had no court this morning. So he brought us breakfast and hung out for a bit. Also, bragging about my unicorn child that is potty trained before her 2nd birthday. I am floored by her as I used to be firmly in the “no PT before 3” camp.

GTKY: What’s your favorite summer smell? Sunscreen. But the old school, non-safe kind.

What number are you trying for?  2 THB

    Month/Cycle?  10/2 AL

    WTO/TWW?  WTO

    Ages of other child(ren)?  2.5

Any thoughts about this cycle?  Optimistic, but cautiously so.

    Any questions?  Not really, no

Rant/Rave/Brag:  We are building a playset/swingset for DS, and it is taking FOREVER.  We put in 3 solid days of 5-6 hours of work each day this weekend, and it's still not done yet.  My body hurts more than it ever has, and I have a bit of a sunburn from not keeping on top of my sunscreen yesterday, so today is a struggle, haha.  But DS was soooo excited to try the slide yesterday, which made it all worth it!  Once it's done being assembled, we're going to build a mulch pit around it, which is going to require a lot more digging work.  Pic of progress  and a stock pic of what the final product will look like in the spoiler.

GTKY: What’s your favorite summer smell?  I love the smell of rain on a hot day, and the smell of meat smoking on our smoker.

    ETA Hit post too soon

The playset is coming along so nicely!!!  Your DS is going to love it!  We recently took ours down, after 6 years, (because it was pretty much falling apart and DS barely played on it anymore)... and I teared up a little bit when it was all down.  Also, I'm hurting from sunburn too!!

@tyrion_ I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. <3

@varimama Cheers for a full day to yourself! Enjoy the shower.

@bows22 When does hour bed/mattress arrive? I want to hear a thorough review. Our mattress is reaching the end of its life.

@craftywitch I have gotten positives at 9 and 10 DPO. I am not the person to help reign you in 😂

@MrsVP614 We grilled yesterday and I could have stood outside all day smelling the charcoal. It’s so yummy.

    @flinstone-2 Sorry for the BFN.

@kpearse99 What does the acronym THB mean? That’s the first I’ve seen it.
  • @varimama It'll be great for YS long-term to be away from you for a bit.  I'm sure he'll do great and you'll have a great time at the shower!

@bows22 Hooray for new furniture!!!  I hope the bed is super comfy!

@craftywitch I wouldn't test before 10 DPO if a BFN is going to really discourage you.  The likelihood of detecting a positive goes up pretty significantly between 9 and 10 DPO.  But if you have cheapies and it won't devastate you too much to get a BFN early, then go for it.  I usually use Wondfos until I have reason to believe there may be a faint line, then I use a FRER.

@MrsVP614 Mmmm, the smell of food grilling is a good one!

@flinstone-2 Sorry about the BFN.  I'm glad your LP is longer, though!  FX it's just too early.

@kpearse99 I've never done an OPK at work, but I'd probably bring my purse to sneak things in, and then wait it out in the stall.

  • @tyrion_ what @shamrocandroll said about THB... I didn't know what it stood for about a month ago until I asked too... and I then I sort of adopted the term for myself too, since it applied.

@shamrocandroll that's a good idea about the purse thing.... I don't want to test at work, so I'm hoping to avoid that but I work 8:30-5:00 so I'm not so sure I'll be able to test at home in the morning.  I can at night though... when do you test, usually, if you don't mind me asking?

Rant/Rave/Brag: Took DS to the zoo this weekend and he had so much fun. He loves elephants and monkeys. But, I got pretty sunburned yesterday while DS and my nephew played outside, so I’m a bit miserable today.

@kpearse99 I don’t know why I love the smell of pool chlorine but I do! I get warm really easily so the pool is my favorite place to be in the summer. Then drying off in the sun with a good book and a fruity drink is pretty much heaven for me so maybe the chlorine smell makes me think of that?? Or maybe I’m weird haha

@tyrion_ I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️ . Our bed is coming tomorrow. I hope we do love it. It’s the same one that @NYTino24 has apparently so maybe the sales guy wasn’t scamming us by saying that’s it’s their best seller

@shamrocandroll the play set looks awesome so far! I love that you guys are setting it up yourselves

@mercury94 I was so obsessed with putting sunscreen on DD yesterday that I forgot about myself. Luckily I was in the shade mostly but I need to be better at that. I hope AF comes soon for you
  • Okay you ladies have convinced me! Today is 10DPO so I'll probably buy a test today and test with FMU tomorrow on a FRER... I swear it took me until the day before my missed period the first time around to get a BFP, but I want to pee on something and I know they sell 3 packs of those things. I have an HSA card burning a hole in my pocket so why not?

@flinstone-2 Sorry about the BFN. FX it's just too early!

@tyrion_ Woohoo PT!!! My DS PT early on his own too- I know it means nothing life-wise, and I'm not at all about pushing, but they are their own people and they'll spite us every time haha. Also being finished with diapers is a reward in itself!

@shamrocandroll That playset looks incredible! It's definitely going to be so worth it when it's done. Luck with finishing it!

@kpearse99 I asked when they start intervening with TTC and what they start with (timeline) and also for product/ old wives tale suggestions. Elevating, positions, preseed, etc. The midwife I asked basically said she recommends patience for 12 months and elevating hips for 5 minutes after sex, but your doc may have a different answer based on what they've seen work.

  • @craftywitch thanks for the suggestions!  I already elevate and use preseed, so I'm ahead there! haha   I like the question wording about "when they start intervening" so I've jotted that down in my notebook!

  • @kpearse99 **TW: loss

For me, the questions I asked were a little bit different, since I've had 2 losses, but I'll share just the same in case you find any of it helpful.
    1.  Do I qualify for genetic testing to be covered by insurance, and if not, is there an out of pocket option/payment plan for testing without going through insurance?
    2.  Is there any easy testing that can be done to eliminate potential easy causes?  (Thyroid, for example)
    3.  How many losses before I am referred to an RE?
    4.  How long should we try before being referred to an RE?
    5.  Ask if they can look at your charts and give any insights there.
    6.  Any other tips of things to try?

    @varimama enjoy the bridal shower!

@bows22 what kind of mattress did you get? The upgrade from queen to king was LIFECHANGING for us haha

@craftywitch mmm tomato plants. I cannot wait to be out of our apartment so that I can have a garden!

@MrsVP614 hopefully this cycle’s good timing worked!!

@flinstone-2 I’m glad the progesterone seems to be helping your LP… FX it’s the trick that was needed!

@kpearse99 I pee into the little bag that the OPK comes in and then I sit on the toilet for a couple minutes until I feel that it’s semi-working and tuck it up my sleeve and carry it to my desk and put it in my top skinny drawer so I can easily slide open the draw and snap a picture of it a few minutes later!  And yes, peeing into the bag means that I pee allllll over my hand.

I would ask if there is any bloodwork that they run just to check the basics throughout your cycle because if it happens that you have to move on to other things, you’ll need this testing done anyway.  Also, if you have a short LP or seemingly low or decreasing LP temps then I would ask for a 7 DPO progesterone check.

Those are all things that my OB tested before we went to the RE and it was a good starting point!

@tyrion_ sorry about the loss and being back here. But congrats on the potty-trained unicorn!

@shamrocandroll oh my that swing set looks awesome!  It looks like a lot of work but seemingly totally worth it!

@mercury94 I’ve had Provera take anywhere from 1 day to 12 days afterward for my period to start… hopefully you’re not waiting much longer though!

Thanks @shamrocandroll I've had a loss too, so those are helpful in case the discussion goes that way.

@mokay19 I was literally asking myself how on earth you peed in those little bags and then I got to your line about peeing all over yourself  :D I'm dying!!  I'm not sure I could go that far hahaha Also, thank you so much for the list of questions! They are super helpful!

What number are you trying for?  2

    Month/Cycle? 12/ 1 AL

    WTO/TWW? WTO

Ages of other child(ren)? 21 months

Any thoughts about this cycle? Meh

    Any questions? No

Rant/Rave/Brag: I finally stopped bleeding so that’s good. DH and I had a really nice weekend together and DD got to spend a day getting sooooo spoiled at my parents house. Win win win!

GTKY: What’s your favorite summer smell? Fresh cut grass!
  • Eeek, I'm so late to the game!

What number are you trying for? 2

    Month/Cycle? 3/2 AL

    WTO/TWW? WTO (CD 1, blah)

    Ages of other child(ren)? 2

Any thoughts about this cycle? Sitting here on CD 1 and feeling super bummed out. My most recent TWW was filled with so many cramps and tender boobs (both highly unusual for me) that I took to Google every two seconds asking what this symptom means, etc. It was a LONG TWW post **TW,CP** and I'm just relieved it is over. I leave for vacation later this week which will definitely snap me out of my funk and hopefully, it helps me become more optimistic for this new cycle coming up! I just hate flying with AF.  :'(

    Any questions?

Rant/Rave/Brag: Rant- my DS headbutted me in the nose before his nap time. It hurt so bad! Rave- He snuggled me immediately after the head butt. I just LOVE him so much!

GTKY: What’s your favorite summer smell? The way the ground smells right after a thunder storm.

  • @puppylove8910 I'm so sorry last cycle wasn't it for you.  I had really strong symptoms too last cycle that really made me think I was going to see a BFP... clearly I was wrong and my body just likes to change it up every month.  Also, DS headbutted my nose last night too... ugh it's such a horrible pain!

@mokay19 I am so sorry to hear about your loss. <3  I'm glad you were able to have a nice weekend with YH - how are you holding up?

  • @puppylove8910 I never had tender boobs before AF until after my losses.  It sucks and turns me into a crazy person in the TWW now.  I'm so sorry about CD1, but hope vacation is very relaxing for you!

  • @puppylove8910 I’m sorry about CD1! My DS headbutted me the other day too. Then he rubbed and kissed my nose and said he was sorry. When I thanked him for making me feel better he punched me in the nose so he could make me feel better again 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

@mokay19 I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m glad you had a relaxing weekend though

@mercury94 I’m sorry I hope AF shows up soon, it’s so hard waiting for AF sometimes

@flinstone-2 I’m sorry about the BFN, 10dpo is still early and maybe O day was off a little. With DS I had 0 symptoms until about 6 weeks then it hit me like a ton of bricks I felt awful so I’m trying not to let lack of symptoms bother me either right now.

@tyrion_woah potty trained before 2! My guy is just a couple months over 2 and we are seeing no desire in him to go on the potty. He loves to read his potty books but besides that wants nothing to do it. I’m not going to push it for a while.

    @craftywitch good luck tomorrow!

  • @kpearse99 So you can pee in the wrapper the OPK comes in and then dump it. Put the OPK back in the wrapper and wrap it in a paper towel. Carry an opaque water bottle back to your desk with the paper towel in between your hand and the paper towel. Find a place to lay it flat. Boom. (I just test before and after work at home and can see my surge, but I also get several days of positives.)
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

@kpearse99 I’m doing better now that my bleeding has slowed and I’m not longer in constant pain. Also, it was a good mental and emotional recharge this weekend so that really helped :)

@mokay19 I’m going to forget all the words now but it’s something like Beautyrest black hybrid? I’m so nervous that we aren’t going to like it. But I do think that having a king versus a queen will make a huge difference! I’m glad you had a nice weekend!

@puppylove8910 I’m so sorry about AF. I’m glad you have your vaca coming to cheer you up! Where are you headed?
  • @bows22 don’t be alarmed if at first it doesn’t feel as soft as when you tried it at the store. It takes a bit of time for it to break in a little. At least that’s how ours was. I was like I know we got a firm mattress but this is crazy then after a couple weeks it was great!

@varimama thanks for that! The salesman told us that too but I wasn’t sure if it was legit or if it’s just something they say. I refused to believe one word that any of the sales people said to me.
  • mokay19mokay19 member
@bows22 I second what varimama said! We got a nice mattress when we first got married and I was disappointed at first because I remembered it being so much more comfy. But over some time I became obsessed with ours haha
Also, we’re in an apartment while our house is being built and it can only hold a queen.... DH and I are not used to touching during the night so this was a readjustment back 😂
