What We’re Watching Wednesday 5/22/19

It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

Re: What We’re Watching Wednesday 5/22/19

  • When it’s just me, I’m watching Imposters on Netflix. When the hubs is here too, we’re watching Barry (to make use of the HBONow subscription we got for GoT.)
  • Loading the player...
  • Okay so a few things we have loved: The Good Place, WestWorld, The OA, The Travelers and the Magicians. We are thinking of something on HBO to start because we had it for GoT as well.

  • @brookert615 we love Westworld! My dad gave season 1 to DH for Christmas a few years ago and we never watched it until a few months ago (when we finally upgraded our Blu Ray to the 4k ultra HD so that the disc could actually play). Loved it and bought season 2 shortly after it came out.

Our current watches are Parks and Rec and YouTube videos. I have a really hard time getting myself to watch new shows!

  • These are some good suggestions!

I'm working on The Good Place and Bones.

But, those are on the back burner at the moment because after seeing Endgame, I decided to watch all the other Marvel movies in order (there's 22 of them so that'll hold me for a bit).
  • @inthewoods23 Oh my goodness WW is so good, we totally binged it! lol Kind of agree with you on watching Parks and Rec - definitely on our re-watch a lot list lol.

@jennifer_louise We were trying to do the same before we watched Captain Marvel and End Game. We kind of failed but they had them on a few of the movie channels for free!

@kpearse99 whoa that’s so cool! I like his character! And what an ending.
  • @begging4abump Barry is so good/weird/good. We really liked it & could totally see why it got an Emmy (maybe the lead actor got an Emmy?)

@whitealbum29 Mad Men is maybe my all time fave show? I hope you are enjoying it.

@brookert615 omg I LOVE the Magicians! I haven't seen the new season though bc I've been watching it when it comes out on Netflix, so I've seen the first 3. I will admit, I thought the first two seasons were good but also just "okay" at times--and yet, the third season was KILLER, so good.

DH & I are watching Shrill on Hulu--and also we've been watching Masterchef Junior on Tuesdays and we tend to watch Antiques Roadshow on Mondays=). I missed last night's episode though! I catch up on my own on MCJ via Hulu if we miss it (missed it last night.)

AFM on my own I'm watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (I just finished Next Generation--took me a few years! Best finale to a tv series EVER, though, so I've been recommending it to everyone upset about GoT.) Also, Dead To Me (after that first ep, [we were gonna watch it together] MH decided he didn't want to watch it--I don't think he could deal with watching it with me bc of the one character's ******SPOILER ALERT & TW********** RPL. He looked over when that was revealed & was like "are you okay?" & I was crying, but I'd gotten a TW alert from someone on TTCAL, so I was ready.

  • @kpearse99 - omg even more shows I watch. Can't wait for Handmaid's Tale and Big Little Lies!!
  • @kagesstarshroom Yes! Same in regards to the Magicians! I feel like they're finally getting their footing in the show for sure. Oh I forgot about Star Trek!

@brookert615 Margot and Eliot are the best characters, Penny is a close third, and the third season didn't exactly center around them, but less played up Quentin and Julia as the "main" characters and treated their storylines more equally, so that helped. But also, the storylines were just the best in s3 (except most of Alice's, but I understand her character is important in the long run). Did you finish s3? I don't want to say much in case you haven't. I CAN'T WAIT for s4 to be on Netflixxxxx.

    ETA: spelling
  • @kagesstarshroom Totally agree! Yes we are caught up with season three! I really like Margot, Eliot and Penny being the top favorites! I am super excited to see what S4 holds! Eeeek!

  • We finished Dead to Me and LOVED IT, but while I was watching it I immediately was like wooooow this needs a TW (**TW** though this was pre-loss for me **TW**).

After that we didn't know what to watch. DH is super particular about his shows, and we like to have a 30-minute comedy to watch before bed. We rotate The Office and Friends but didn't want to go back to those (I wish Scrubs was still on Netflix). We started Easy but didn't really love that it's just different characters and stories every episode, so last night we started Horrible People on Hulu, which is pretty funny so far. Another option was You're the Worst. Has anyone watched that and liked it? Same question RE: Horrible People since we just started it?

On my own I'm finally watching season 2 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Super excited for season 3 of Handmaids Tale.

  • @MJDsquared omg MH & I are the EXACT same re: a 30 minute comedy to watch before bed!! Here are alll of the ones on Netflix we've done and loved: Schitt's Creek, Everything Sucks, Grace & Frankie, Disjointed --& now we're watching Shrill on Hulu. We've watched Broad City on Hulu as well & Barry on HBO (we get free HBO Go w/ our At&t phone plans). GLOW (on Netflix) is excellent, and it's run time is sometimes shorter and other times longer? But it's SO FREAKING GOOD we didn't care. I am sure we've gone through more, but these were the most memorable ones! I wish I had opinions on the two you mentioned, but I will check them out! We started The Ranch and didn't really like it, so we stopped watching it. MMM is sooooo gooooood. Hope you like S3!
  • @kagesstarshroom I should mention we have watched Schitt's Creek (LOVE) and I have watched Grace & Frankie, Broad City, and Shrill on my own. We don't have HBO, unfortunately. I'm going to look into all of your other recommendations though! Thank you!

  • I am about halfway through re-watching the first season of "Designated Survivor" on Netflix. I had started watching it in the fall. Before I start the second season, I figured I needed to go back to season 1 so I didn't get confused!  I don't usually enjoy political dramas, but this one got me hooked, plus Keifer Sutherland's performance is great.
  • I watch Sci-fi trash non-stop and am currently watching Netflix Colony Season 3 and The Rain Season 2.

Anxiously awaiting the next season of Handmaid's Tale. Margaret Atwood published a follow-up to the book called The Testaments which I have on hold with the library and I'm really interested to know if the show is going to go in the same direction as the book.
  • @emeraldduchess I watched some of that, the first season! it looks like it stayed/got good, but I never caught back on with it.

Oooo & that reminds me: I forgot to add The Blacklist to my list bc I am behind and need to catch up via the NBC app if that's still possible, idk if the season finale even happened yet or what.
  • Ohhh and Jack Ryan was really good!  Looking forward to the next season of that!

@MJDsquared You can watch Jane the Virgin on the CW app for free.

I loved Dead to Me, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, New Amsterdam, 9-1-1 and so many more you all mentioned.

    I am currently watching:
    The Bold Type (Hulu)
iZombie & Jane the Virgin (the CW app)
Schitts Creek (Netflix, per this boards recommendation) I just started season 2. I like it, I'm not sure if I love it
    The Bachelorette (TV or Hulu)
