Re: Group 3 Check-In (Aug 15-23) week of 5/12/19

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 25w3d

    Blue/Pink/Green? BLUE

Baby is the size of a(n): Papaya

Upcoming Appointments: 5/23, get to pick back up on blood work LOL YAY

How are you feeling?: Honestly I feel GREAT!  I don't "feel pregnant" unless I look at my abdomen.

Rants/Raves: Rant and Rave - Since DH started a new job, we have to sign up for new health insurance.  I'm YAY about better insurance but NAY about actually looking at it and making a decision.

GTKY: Aside from adding to your family, what is something that you are looking forward to this year?

We got rid of a truck I really didn't like and bought one that I LOVE.  I'm so grateful and so excited to have it!

  • @agpandme ugh. I always find figuring out new insurance stuff to be confusing

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 8/23. 25w3d

    Blue/Pink/Green? Pink

Baby is the size of a(n): prairie dog

Upcoming Appointments: had my MFM appt today.  She was so active the whole time and the ultrasound tech said that she was getting pics that were so clear they should be in textbooks lol.  Everything looks good and they commented on her long legs again. Kaleigh is 2lbs and in the 63rd percentile.  We got some great 3D (or is it 4D?) pics of her too!  Next MFM is 7/3 at 32 weeks.

How are you feeling?: I asked about my right ankle being swollen today and they said it’s completely normal.  It’s super annoying but I’m glad to know it’s normal.  Heartburn and acid reflux is starting to really suck.  But those are both small things and overall I feel good.

Rants/Raves: it’s the end of the school year so all the stress is really starting to increase

    Questions:

GTKY: Aside from adding to your family, what is something that you are looking forward to this year? I don’t know
  • @purplg8r so glad your MFM appt went well.
@agpandme insurance decisions are not fun. we have separate insurance policies and I'm avoiding reviewing both to decide which policy to add baby to and to decide if we should just do a family policy or one keep an individual policy.

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 8-22/ 25+5

    Blue/Pink/Green?  Green

Baby is the size of a(n): bag of popped popcorn.

Upcoming Appointments: I have my f/u and 2hr GTT at the end of the month

How are you feeling?: not too bad. yesterday was not so great, but I think it was because of what I ate for lunch.

Rants/Raves: Got the nursery painted and the dresser. We're going to a prenatal class this weekend and are working on the nursery.

    Questions:

GTKY: Aside from adding to your family, what is something that you are looking forward to this year? We're going on a beach trip in a few weeks and I'm so looking forward to that.

  • Est Due Date/ Weeks + Days: 8/20, 26 weeks as of today

    Blue/Pink/Green: Blue :)

Baby is the size of a : Butternut Squash

    Upcoming Appointments: 5/30 for GTT

How are you feeling?: Pretty good, aside from being exhausted but I am blaming that on this beautiful weather we have today *insert eye roll*

Rants/ Raves: Rave, we got a new NP at the Doctor's office and she is such a rat of sunshine in comparison to everyone else that works there. Rant, every time I have an appointment that DH doesn't attend the first thing he asks about is my weight and blood pressure. It is purely out of worry that I could develop GD or Preeclampsia, but it is so annoying. Yes the baby is fine, don't worry about me weight thanks.

    Questions:

GTKY: Aside from adding to your family, what is something you're looking forward to this year? I am looking forward to summer, or even spring at this point, coming to Vermont. We woke up to 3 inches of snow at our house this morning, May 14th. Wth.

@purplg8r that is SUCH a relief to hear your ankle swelling is normal. It seemed so weird to have it unbalanced so I'm glad it checked out ok!

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: August 16 / 26w 4d

    Blue/Pink/Green? Blue!

Baby is the size of a(n): "Kale" which is hilariously vague; ok, The Bump!

Upcoming Appointments: I'll go into the lab for my glucose test and bloodwork probably next Tuesday, and then my appointment is next Thursday. That probably doesn't give my results time to get processed before my appointment to discuss with my OB, but I'm really slammed time-wise and that's the only place I can squeeze it in. So I probably won't have much to discuss in the appointment.

How are you feeling?: Something I *will* bring up with my OB is the INSANE ligament pain on my right side. It's like a stitch after running too fast too suddenly. It shows up when exercising, even with support garments, but recently it's also been showing up after a generally rough day, and even when resting. I *really* hope this is just a phase where my belly had a growth sport and that ligament needs some time to catch up (I'll start wearing a more hardcore support belt)--and not the beginning of something that will stick around all pregnancy long. It really throws a wrench in my exercising: I've been averaging an hour of cardio every single day this pregnancy and I will go absolutely bananas if I can't keep that up, and it will make it super difficult to control my increasing blood sugar and blood pressure (thanks genetics). The other day I swam for an hour instead of hiking and that didn't hurt as much, but I can't arrange in my schedule to swim every day--maybe a couple of times a week tops :(

Rants/Raves: @purplg8r oh man SOLIDARITY on the end of the academic year. This is my last week of teaching and I am absolutely running on fumes. Once classes are over, even though I have a bunch of research-y work to do, I'm going to focus a lot more on myself!

Questions: Anyone else with out of control ligament pain? Is there some technique I'm missing, like a nutritional angle?

GTKY: Aside from adding to your family, what is something that you are looking forward to this year? I know this is largely a function of it being the last week of classes so I am on the verge of exhaustion collapse, but I am VERY MUCH looking forward to not teaching over the summer and then over maternity leave. Not that newborn care is a walk in the park, but my normal life is baby/toddler care + household management + life + research and teaching, so at least getting rid of the teaching part will be a weight off my life.

[RANT] @brianalee2984 aaaaaughhhh that kind of scrutiny on weight and blood pressure stats drives me up a wall! I *KNOW* this all comes from a position of concern and love, and sometimes non-pregnant people feel that all they have as a guide are those hard numbers, but I completely agree that having to disclose all of that makes me really uncomfortable. Also like, from personal experience, a lot or a little weight gain is NOT what's going to determine or predict a GD diagnosis! And also from personal experience, if your BP is acting wonky, it's not your husband who's going to catch it after the appointment--it's something your physician will note on the spot! Solidarity and hugs.

@cato99 I have had high blood pressure only once, and even the doctor said it was understandable. I had to leave work, fly to my appointment that was ESSENTIAL and had already been rescheduled 3 times and my boss wasn't sure if I would get out on time. So needless to say, I had a very stressful last half hour of my day, top that off with working in a classroom of 16 3 year old children and it all makes sense. That was the only after work appointment I've has this entire time, and the only time I have had high BP. Like you said it comes from a place of love and concern but man is it frustrating!

@brianalee2984 oooh same! In my last pregnancy I had this awful day in the late stages, when AS I WAS PARKING for the appointment I started getting bombarded with messages from work that the hiring search for the sub-program I manage was imploding, including one of my closest friends squandering the job offer I arranged for him and going behind my back to shop the offer around elsewhere to get a better deal--so I was facing going on maternity leave with zero staff and no time to start a new hiring search from scratch. By the time I was seen by the doctor I was crying HYSTERICALLY and shaking and duh, my blood pressure was through the roof. These things happen! And doctors 1) understand, and 2) are ON IT and are not going to mess around if it actually is scary blood pressure. What happened in my case is that they didn't let me leave until my blood pressure went down (but with the implicit understanding that it would, because it was circumstantial), and warned me that if it didn't go down in an hour or so I'd have to go straight to the hospital. Ultimately it was fine.

(and end to the work story, my former friend wasn't successful in finding another better job so while I was literally giving birth he wound up accepting the job I had gotten him, never thanked me, bragged to everyone about how he had earned it, and now I work with him forever. sigh.)

    Blue/Pink/Green? Pink

Baby is the size of a(n): kale

Upcoming Appointments: normal check up in 5/29... I had my GTT kind of early at 24+2 and passed

How are you feeling?: pretty good! Nothing much to complain about at the moment!!

Rants/Raves: DH is sick and driving me nuts... I feel bad but I have 0 sympathy when he doesn’t feel well... I just find him extremely annoying lol oops

Questions: has anyone else had results in the low range for their GTT? I was borderline high last go round so I was surprised when I looked up my result this time and it said my level was “slightly too low” I’m sure my practitioner would have called if it were a concern but it just took me by surprise and made me wonder if I should be altering my diet in any way...

GTKY: Aside from adding to your family, what is something that you are looking forward to this year? I’m looking forward to two of my best friends adding to their families and having overlapping maternity leave! I’m also excited for summer and spending some time relaxing at the lake.
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 8/18

    Blue/Pink/Green? Blue

Baby is the size of a(n): Big enough that I have to sit back from my desk or else he kicks that spot and it hurts, small enough to avoid detection from DH most of the time.

Upcoming Appointments: growth scan thursday. regular OB and GTT on 5/30

How are you feeling?: tired. sore. over it. and still so long to go.

Rants/Raves: MIL is almost half way through her 14 days visit. She pretends to be helpful. She is not.

    Questions: none

GTKY: Aside from adding to your family, what is something that you are looking forward to this year? my big kid starting kindergarten! and my little one being potty trained!
    DD1 5/23/14, DD2 12/5/16   Baby #3 on the way!

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: Aug 17, 26w 4d

    Blue/Pink/Green? Pink

Baby is the size of a(n): Slow Loris

    Upcoming Appointments: ultrasound on Tuesday.

How are you feeling?: Honestly, not great. I keep getting sick. I think I've been sicker with this pregnancy than I was with all three others combined.

Rants/Raves: just the above. I just want to feel healthy again and not like death warmed over

    Questions:

GTKY: Aside from adding to your family, what is something that you are looking forward to this year? Biggest kiddo starting kinder, even though it's terrifying. The other two will start preschool. And I'm excited to redo our bathroom.
  • @Avrilmai you’re so good!!

@cato99 I saw my regular ob and she said swelling is normal if it’s in both legs but that mine is bad. She did say that while it seems fine now since my left ankle is starting to swell, that I should I have called them.  Oops! As for ligament pain, my truck won’t help but I’ve found if I kind of curl up before get off the couch, cough, or sneeze, I don’t get any RLP. If I forget, then ouch!
  • cato99cato99 member
@purplg8r yikes! Well at least you know to get in touch with them if the uneven swelling happens again? Hopefully it was just a weird phase.
