Going for my second beta at 1 pm (west coast here, so 3.5 hours to go). My first one was a week ago and I originally wasn't going to go for a second, but waiting until 5/23 for my appt is too hard so I changed my mind!
Anybody else get a positive and imediatly start rearranging the house in their mind? Just me? I have no idea where this baby is going to sleep! We have a three bedroom house with a bonus room but all the rooms are already full of junk. So basically my tired and nauseated self is already nesting or something 😂
So, about GOT last night... Anyone watch? I can't believe that everything went down the way that it did. I wonder how they are going to wrap up the series with only one episode left.
@kbrown2385 yeah me too. It was anticlimactic, even though I don't think she deserves an epic death either. I honestly wasn't surprised by Dany's actions but I am disappointed since I was hoping that she would be better than that.
@MrsJessS - The first thing I did last time wss think about DD's new room. I had everything designed in my head and bedding picked out at Target. Now I can't bring myself to think about it this time.
Instead I keep Pinteresting autumn and winter maternity shoots 🙄
So I'm in the ER with my husband. He has an abscess in his butt. This is the second time this has happened, the last time was in February, so at least we know what to expect. He's currently in surgery.
I feel like this season of GoT is so rushed, it feels sloppy. I am not at all surprised by Dany going all murder crazy, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being Arya who takes her down in the end. I think Varys’ death bummed me out the most.
*GoT spoilers maybe* Ugh I have so many feelings about season 8 of GoT. Apparently HBO wanted the show to continue on but the producers wanted to wrap it up. HBO was also willing to give them a full 10 episode season but they insisted on doing it in 6. It's very disappointing that once they ran out of source material they dropped the ball on half the storylines and ignored the characterization that has been built over so many seasons for characters like Brienne and Dany. I had an inkling that Dany would go full mad king but it was like they switched a flip with her. There was barely any buildup. I couldn't believe Cersei went out the way she did. I expected more. Overall I've been very unimpressed with the story, script, and acting. It all seems rushed even though they had 2 years to finish it.
@marebear15 Yeah I did the same last time and still never came to a conclusion. I just have to get things figured out soon-ish because MH will be leaving sometime during second tri. Maybe. Or we will move 🤷🏻♀️ And I’ll have to start from scratch also. An abscess in his butt?? That sounds awful
ALSO! One last thing GoT. I'm so distraught over the Night King storyline. I expected so much more then we were given. I don't think I will ever get over it.
@MrsJessS - I've heard of some people having success with both baby and toddler in the same room. Do you have the baby in your room for the first few months, or straight to the nursery?
Yeah, it's not fun. And I get to play nurse to him for awhile. At least I'm not dry heaving yet.
@MrsJessS@marebear15 I have my 2.5 toddler and 1 year old in the same room at night and it works well. The one year old never really had her own room before moving in with him...she was just in a pack n play in our bedroom or in the guest room for a year. We'll probably do something similar with this baby, to keep the extra room as a guest room for a LITTLE bit longer! But it's sooooo hard to think about...like...where am I gonna put these kids?! Haha!
@marebear15 DS went straight to the nursery. This baby may stay in the room with me. MH will be gone so it may be easier to have baby closer. DS was a horrible sleeper so I don’t want to commit to them sharing a room until I know if next baby will sleep better
@KristinUM12 that sounds like a good way to do it! My only resistance to having baby in my room is not being able to decorate all cute 😂
@MrsJessS - We did the same with DD. Straight into her crib at 3 days old. She's a noisy sleeper, so I'm glad we did that. But if DH wasn't home, I'd probably have had her in the room with me to make it easier for those MOTN feedings.
@peppyj9, I also know nothing about GOT...have never seen it.
@MrsJessS and @marebear15, I have a similar setup as @KristinUM12. My 2 boys (4.5 and almost 2) have shared a room since the younger one was around 9mo. I tried moving him a few times from the PnP in our room to the crib in the shared room starting at 5-6mo, but between sleep regressions and MOTN feeds, it just didn’t really stick until he was a bit of an older infant. It works and now neither one remembers being without the other.
if all goes well this time around, I have no clue where I’ll put baby #3! We live in a 2BR/2BA + home office in NYC, so you can imagine space is tight. I could convert the HO into a 3rd BR with minimal difficulty, just not sure I’m up to the project now. I’m also eventually planning bunk beds for the boys, so could technically swing a bunk bed + crib setup in their current room, with just an extra dresser to fit baby or kids clothes somewhere else (office most likely).
@EmilyE13 actually no! I've read the first book but none of the others. I have a horrible memory so I usually like to wait until all the books are out in a series to read them so I dont have to reread them. I think I might just pull the plug and read what's out for GoT because I'm so unsatisfied with the ending of the show. Have you read them?
I've read them! It was really frustrating when the show started to deviate, and I continue to be frustrated. I hope he hurries and finishes the last books. I will have to go back and reread because it's hard to remember now what was in the book and what was in the show.
@gabadoo I just saw the coolest/craziest kids setup this weekend. It was a 2 bed and they had 3 kids sharing the 2nd bedroom. They lofted the entire bed space and then had their desks underneath. They also had a freaking CLIMBING WALL for the kids to climb up onto the loft. I wish I took a pic, because it was awesome and so nothing I'd ever do.
@laurenmicheley, there are a ton of cool companies that specialize in kids room design for small spaces with custom furniture and the like. I know Casa kids is one of them, but probably out of my budget. I’m not making any huge plans yet...way too early at this point. But, good to know things are available if I needed the help or some inspiration
We're probably going to have this kid share with our son (2.5). We're technically three bedroom but the third is kind of weird in that it has a door directly to the backyard. As they get older we may convert it to be our bedroom, but I wouldn't feel comfortable putting a kid in it. We'll keep new babe in our room for like 6 months and then try to combine once there's some semblance of a schedule going.
@dumbledoredies I’ve read them, yeah, although who knows if George RR Martin will ever actually finish the series since he’s the worst procrastinator in the known universe. It isn’t really my usual genre, but I enjoyed the books a lot.
It is seriously killing me not being able to tell friends and family I'm pregnant. I've been able to tell my closest girlfriends but DH really wants to wait until we hit 2nd tri which means I can't tell his side of the family or our mutual friends who are 3 months before us by the way. I just had to keep mum while she told me they found out they're having a boy and then told me to hang in there and not get discouraged. Inside I was screaming to tell her but trying to respect DH's wishes and all 🤨
@peppyj9 that would be so hard! We had a rule of not telling anyone who would share the news before we were ready. Which meant I got to tell close friends, but since my mil would tell the world, I couldn't tell my family. DH thought it wouldn't be fair to tell mine and not his. Can you get him to make an exception?
@persnickity unfortunately me being able to tell my besties WAS the exception! 😝 I'm not sure why he's so bent on waiting. I get he wants to pass the "safe zone" and in general he's a pretty private person but this is my first baby and I really want to share my joy now! But it's his baby too so he has a say. But then again, it's MY pregnancy, right? Just looking for a loophole 😅 my mom is the same as your mil, which is why I haven't told her yet 🙄 we're not real close or anything so I'm ok with waiting and my sister is visiting from out of state in July so being able to tell her in person makes it easier to wait. But at least I can vent on this board. I'm like "babe, a bunch of strangers on the internet already know! Why can't our friends?"
So MH got the day off today (hooray!) and we are going to the zoo with his mom. I used to get along really well w my MIL but it’s gottwn a little strained over the years. Trying to extend the olive branch so to speak to see where we can get. Anyways. We are going to tell her and probably my SIL today. I’m happy to tell them but also a little nervous because they tend to be the type to tell everyone’s everything 😬 They also changed MH’s vacation time but we don’t know when to yet, so I’ll have to tell my mom over the phone after all. Was looking forward to telling her in person but I guess life goes on
@MrsJessS the zoo sounds fun! Hopefully your MIL and SIL can keep it to themselves for a little while. Sorry you don't get to tell your mom in person. I'm sure you'll still be able to hear her love and excitement through the phone though ❤
@peppyj9 - I love telling family, and I normally barely wait a few days before blabbing to everyone. I can't imagine waiting until 2 tri!
@MrsJessS - Ugh, I'm sorry you don't get to tell your mom in person. She was with you last time around, right? Maybe you could facetime, that way you can still see her reaction?
@marebear15 she was and it was really good to have her here. We told her over the phone with DS so it’s not the end of the world lol. Unfortunately she doesn’t have good enough internet for FaceTime because she lives in the boonies 😂
Last time, we told people really early and ended up with a MC at 10 weeks. This time we are being a bit cautious. I got for the first u/s on Wednesday, so depending on the results of that we might feel a little more comfortable. Especially, since my very best friend is KU and due in October and I’d love to share the news with her. My mom just knew the second she saw me last week and my SIL (who I have not told) tried to out me which put me on edge the rest of that day. Just want to play this close to the chest until we know what (and how many) we are dealing with.
I don't share until closer to the end of the first trimester. @peppyj9 I don't want to feel obligated to share the news of a miscarriage with everyone, so I only tell those I'm comfortable with. And as a very private person, it means I only share with a few.
@persnickity that makes absolute sense and I think that's how MH feels. Thankfully I've never experienced a loss so for me I'm purely optimistic and it's hard to imagine it not working out, although I'm very aware that anything can happen. For now I'm happy that at least my 3 closest friends know and I have all you ladies to chat with. ❤
So definitely thinking about room situations! Our kids 9, 6, 4 (when baby comes) share a room and always have - I swear that is why my kids are such good sleepers. We had our nephew over night last month and he was up most of the night crying and they never heard a thing. Anyways - I imagine that my older boys will transition into their own room and my daughter and baby will end up sharing a room/playroom. Technically we could still fit a crib in their room but that’s just a lot of kids in one bedroom. I guess we’ll see - I don’t think baby will be out of our room until 3/4 months old.
Okay, hilarious story to end this week. In spoiler because it turned into a chapter.
Last night I went to the store to take back some fabric and a pattern I didn't need, and I had my sister and my DD with me, so my sister stayed in the car while I went in the store really quick. I get up to the front counter and tell the lady I have a return and she directs me to the fabric counter to return that.
I walk back to the fabric counter and there's one lady buying hundreds of yards of white muslin fabric. Fabric drapped all over the long fabric counter and the poor worker measuring and cutting has fabric hung around her neck. The lady buying it is all like, "Now this is on sale right?"
There's another lady and me waiting so the worker calls for back up, and Worker #2 comes to the counter and calls out "NUMBER 79! NUMBER 79?" Us two waiting just sorta look at each other. "NUMBER 80? DID YOU TWO TAKE A TICKET?"
Um no...sorry. So we dutifully go over and take a ticket. The first lady goes up to the front and pushes her cart that has a puppy in a carrier. Worker #2 says, "I'm going going to need you to push your dog away from me, I'm super allergic to dogs."
So the lady pushes is a little further away. "A little further please! I get hives if I'm around dogs." And she proceeds to sneeze and cough.
100-yards-of-muslin lady says, "Oh I totally understand! I'm deathly allergic to cats. I can't even go on airplanes anymore!" Worker #2 while having a coughing fit says, "Oh, I would die if I went on a plane." She finishes up with dog-lady and proceeds to help me. After dog-lady is out of ear shot, she says to Muslin-lady, "Some people just think they are above the law!" I finally get my return done, and head back up to the front counter to finish, but so is Muslin-lady. She basically races me over to the checkout, and I'm walking fast to get back to my 20-month-old who is probably no happy about being in her carseat. I go to the front because that's where returns are, while Muslin-lady goes around the normal way and glares at me when I beat her to the checkout. The cashier explains that I was in the middle of a return and starts ringing up the rest of my stuff. Muslin-lady parks her cart literally in front of the card machine, so I have to lean over it to sign the screen. All the while, arms crossed, death glare. At least she got her 100 yards of Muslin at $1.07!
