Game of Thrones Recap 5/13 ** SPOILERS INSIDE **

** SPOILERS AHEAD...... ***

Wow, wow, wow - I think I'm still recovering from last night. Where to even begin? Are you surprised Danny didn't accept the surrender or knew it was coming? I thought she was going to accept the surrender but go straight after Cersei with the dragon.  I think in that moment Jon knew he wouldn't be able to support her anymore.

As much as I can't stand Cersei, the reunion between her and Jamie made me teary and at their end as well!  I would have liked to seen Aria take revenge with Cersei but after seeing Cersei's ending, I thought it was an appropriate one.

So many more thoughts but leaving it at that for now...

Cannot wait for next week!!

Re: Game of Thrones Recap 5/13 ** SPOILERS INSIDE **

  • That was SO. CRAZY. I mean, I knew (or strongly believed) they were going to have her go all Mad Queen. But I kept hoping/thinking that she was going to accept the surrender and find herself again. I was so angry when she didn't! I just felt like they had spent all of these years building her character as different from others of her blood, only to take the lazy (in my opinion only) plot turn of making her just like the rest of them. That said, it made for an intense and insane series of scenes as she destroyed the city, that's for sure. My heart rate was over 90 the whole time! LOL

I liked the Cersei ending too, even though it wasn't what I thought would happen at all. I thought they actually humanized her a bit before her death, which made me less "happy" for her death - in a good way, if that makes sense.

I thought for sure Arya was a goner! She looked three-quarters dead by the end. Glad she is going to make it to the last episode.

It's definitely building to the Jon/Daenerys showdown in the final episode. It's going to be epic!!

  • Oh! I forgot the Hound. Oh man, I cried. He's one of my very favorites. It was a great ending for him!

I agree- I thought this was a good ending for him as well and he felt complete by it!

Okay so here's my interpretation. The show started after the end to the Mad king right? I mean not exactly but kinda, so it the show starts at his end and I think its going to end with the beginning of the Mad Queen. Kinda like right back where they started. I doubt this will happen but I expected her to not keep he shit together.

Cersei's end was good, I was happy, and the Hound vs Mountain was great.

I do forsee a show down between Jon and Dany, but I thought we needed something else to trigger him like Arya actually being dead and him finding her. I know horrible idea...

I thought the exact thing about Jon finding Arya, or seeing her ultimately killed. I even turned to DH at one point and said "Jon is about to come around the corner and see her get blasted, which will make him go kill Dany."

You could very well be right with your theory, maybe Dany will win the show down (if there is one) and it will end with her as the new crazy tyrant. It would be very typical of this crazy show to just leave it like that.
  • SO INTENSE.
@Cass005 That is an interesting theory about the show/game starting and ending with a Mad King or Queen. It's been said several times now but different characters, "A Targaryen alone in this world is a very dangerous thing." I think it's going to be a bittersweet ending of Jon killing Dany somehow. Or maybe Aria does it for him?? But I still don't think Jon is going to rule. He might win the game, but he doesn't want the throne.
-As for Cersi, I didn't want her to be humanized! She was the most evil character!!!!! I wanted someone to get revenge on her. BUT I kind of did feel happy for Jamie that he made it back to her (for his sake since he loved her so deeply).
-Totally agree that I thought Aria was a goner. But so happy she's made it to the end. That girl has 9 lives. She is going to do something epic in the last episode.
-I thought The Hound's scene was an appropriate/good end for him. Loved how his relationship with Aria ended as well.
  • I'm still all kinds of WTF about it.

@junebabyh Cersei was pretty despicable I'll give you that and for the longest time I could NOT wait to see her character's demise. But....several times they've reiterated and reminded that every move she made was for the sake of her children so i think they wanted to humanize her in the end. I agree with you on Jon, I don't think he'll rule, but I mean, he needs to realize his talents and I don't think he does.

Is anyone else happy that Euron finally got his? I will say I REALLY wanted him to die with the realization that Cersei lied to him the whole time. He's such a punk lol.

Oh and yes again the worse part of the episode for me was after the Golden Company got rear ended and you saw the horse die, like come on did have to show that poor animal? I felt so bad
  • @Cass005 OMG that horse just about did me in too! I HATE when animals die on these shows!

YES! Forgot about Euron. Was so happy he finally got his, too. But disliked how he went out thinking he killed the king slayer, but he DIDN'T.

@junebabyh EXACTLY! I was like  OMG Jamie just tell him you're the real dad, wipe that smug look off his face!

@jenferlee82 I yelled at the screen.....like I'm still fuming over the Ghost ordeal, and Rhagael's death....cut us a break man...
  • I think I could believe that Dany would turn into the Mad Queen if the writers hadn't done it so quickly... I mean this is the girl that locked up her dragons bc they got 1 innocent child in Meereen... and now she's burning errbody to the ground? That was quick.
My thoughts exactly! Too rushed and too easy.

The Hound's vs Mountain was great. I'm gad he got the end he wanted. And you are right @obsessedwithoranges about Qyburn, that was fitting.
  • ugh - i am emotionally damaged from this episode.

I mean - we KNEW it was coming. They have been setting her up to go crazy for a while. But at the same time it felt rushed like @obsessedwithoranges said.

Also annoyed that Arya left Gendry and traveled all that way, just to do exactly NOTHING. I am assuming she needed to see the death and destruction caused by Dany in order to actually team up with Jon to defeat her? I am guessing they (and Tyrion) will plan something out here in the final episode? I just don't see how there is only ONE LEFT. ughhh.
