Re: June 2019 IVF

  • @ladyp0tter closed for 2 weeks?? what?? That's crazy!

Day 6 update - they were able to biopsy another 3 embryos so we have 6 total sitting and waiting for us 😄 I feel so much better today than I did yesterday when she said she only froze 3.

I had my appt today.  He didn't count every follicle, but there were about 15 on each ovary.  Left side was measuring ahead of right with some at 15-18 and 12-14 on the right.  I am scheduled to trigger Wednesday and ER Friday.   I'm not doing PGS.  Is that something most of you do because of age?
  • @eb112 often it is done due to age. The other reason is if your clinic only does frozen transfers. They will always test the embryos first before transferring any of them for the best chances of success.

  • @eb112, I'm doing it mostly for gender selection.  I have had 2 failures but my doctor said one of them wasn't even a very good embryo and he still didn't think I needed PGS.  Also I have had a frozen transfer without PGS and would have the option to do that again if I didn't want to test these, I guess every clinic is different.

@eb112 I’m doing PGS mainly to increase xfer success rate- xfer only embryos that pass PGS testing. I’m also learning that every clinic is different, mine offers rushed results for a fresh xfer vs the typical wait time and doing an FET. It seems as though some clinics don’t offer the rush option.

I am doing PGS for age reasons, but also hoping to get a boy (since I have 3 daughters already (16, 9,9)- including a set of spontaneous ID twins!!). Twins aren't that bad honestly. The worst part is finding a stroller that fits through stores!! haha..and learning to feed two at once! I love that my girls have each other to play with. Their older sister is quite a bit older (16 now).

I am patiently (I WISH) waiting for my day 3 results tomorrow. They are supposed to tell me so we can see how many we may expect for day 5 for testing. My package goes up to 8, and they are thinking that we MAY have more than that. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME! But, It is up to God, so I will find out by Thursday and see how many we get!

  • @ladyp0tter our package was 8 as well. I was thinking about it on Sunday when we were told we only had 3. Like how does that feel for couples who end up with so few?? So much money for so few embryos to test. I was hoping for best bang for my buck and having 8 embryos but 6 ain't bad!

  • I had my ER yesterday and it was a breeze until around 7pm when constipation cramping hit like a mac truck...I was up all night in pain, even threw up once. Luckily, I got some relief around 2am, but now I have the opposite problem going on....ugh, the glamorous life of the IVF woman  :)
They retrieved 15 eggs, 11 mature and as of this morning, 9 had fertilized. Originally, we had planned for a 5 day transfer to happen on Sun 6/22, but my ER said he'd prefer that we freeze the embryos and wait until next month to give my uterus some time to heal. I am a high risk for OHSS. Kinda bummed, but ultimately, I want to be pregnant and have a healthy baby, so I'll do what my ER says...just wish we had planned that before, I feel like a kid who was told Christmas was being delayed.
Any progesterone/estrace horror stories that I need to be worried about?

  • @inthewoods23 - I know, that is what I was worried about (not having even 2-3 to test)....but that's why they give you a year on my contract so if you do multiple rounds of IVF, you can still use the same package until you get to 8 tested. As of yesterday, they said 15 were where they should be, but that all 20 were still going. I am praying that at least 10 make it to PGS test (she said likely 8-12).

@covergirl2985 - I understand your constipation pain. I totally forgot that anesthesia does that to you and I went back to eating normally right after and paid for it yesterday. I had such bad cramping. I am sorry you don't get to do the fresh, but you are right that at least now, you can focus on building a great lining and have everything prime for implantation!

Now the wait for our periods so we can start our next round of meds!! I am a bit nervous about the PIO shots! I did all my own shots (hubby didn't help) but he may need to for those. I am guessing my FET will be around mid July at this point.

It's funny that you guys talk about constipation with pain as I have really had none of that (the pain with it).

Today I finally seem to be back to regular on that front! I went a couple days post-ER without a BM and that was really weird since I was typically an *TMI* at least once a day kind of person.

  • @eb112 - GOOD LUCK!!!

ASF....AF showed up last night! WTF?! Day 4 1/2 post ER. I guess as I read it had to do with progesterone being low. My last progesterone test was a couple days before ER and that was 53. I know it doesn't matter since we were not doing a fresh cycle, but last month and now this month, I have had like 20-day cycles instead of my normal 28-day cycles. I just hope that when I go in for baseline this afternoon, that they don't tell me I have to wait until August to do my FET and see how my luteal phase looks this month! UGH!  PLUS...I am going out of town on a work trip Sat - Wed and so if I have to start my PIO shots, I need to figure out how to get them STAT! LOL!

On a positive note, I am super excited to get my report for day 5 today!! Praying for as many Blasties as possible to send to PGS test!

  • @inthewoods23 - yeah I was super surprised (and kinda pissed since I am going to Vegas for the confernece and wanted to hang by the pool - now I am just going to be bloated!! haha)!

If I CAN do my FET this month, it will at least be a bit earlier than expected which is great, but hopefully, with the progesterone shots, it will keep my LP in check! I don't want to flush out a good blast before it has a chance to implant!

Yeah, I think the one we used to get our meds last time has a cutoff of like 4:30pm to do next day, so I am going to the appointment at 3:30 today so that I can find out what I might need. I have the estrogen patches already...just need the PIO (just not sure when those start normally).

@eb112 ; I hope that everything went well with your ER! <3
@covergirl2985 I had the same thing happen where I was supposed to have a fresh transfer but now I'm waiting for a FET. I totally understand the disappointment but I've been taking this time to just enjoy not having the shots for a bit before jumping back into taking meds. The constipation was killer!

I got the call today for day 6 and I found out that I have 8 frozen blastocysts. I'm so excited and feeling so hopeful that at least one of those is likely to work for me. In an ideal world I'd love to have some leftover so I never have to do another ER again but I'm trying not to count my chickens before they hatch. I just started AF today so I'll be starting up with whatever my doctor tells me to do to prepare for my FET.

28 retrieved. 16 mature. 5 more may mature by the time they fertilize tomorrow.  Crazy!  In a bit of pain today but nothing I can't deal with.

  • @inthewoods23 ahh that's exciting! My RE said that AF usually comes anywhere from 5-14 days after an ER so it sounds like you fall into that.
@eb112 ; Wow what great numbers! Fingers crossed for excellent fertilization numbers!

  • @eb112 eggs can mature after retrieval? 🤔 I had no idea! Interesting! Hope your fertilization rate is good!

AFM, I was mobile bumping and the embryologist called! They have my PGT results! 5 of the 6 are normal! PHEW! I am so relieved and so excited at what we have to work with! 3 are girls and 2 are boys. I can't wait to call the clinic on Monday to start the FET process!

@inthewoods23 I guess. The ones that weren't mature were called M1...whatever that means.

I ended up with 17 mature.
12 have fertilized and they are going to leave them alone until Wednesday when they transfer.
    ladyp0tter
  • @ladyp0tter I am so sorry to hear that. I got my period today (5dp ER) and they told me that I'd have to wait until my NEXT period to do the FET, so I'm guessing August....we got 15 eggs, 11 mature, 9 fertilized and as of today we have 3 embryos with 2-3 more promising for Day 6 (tomorrow)....I was a bit disappointed as well and I echo your thoughts exactly..we do all this work....fingers crossed for you and me with good news on the horizon.

Hi Ladies - I've been following this discussion for about a week and wanted to share my progress. This forum (while I haven't posted before) has been key for keeping my sanity and making me feel less alone. Getting to read what everyone else is going through at the same time has been such a comfort.

So a little more about myself: I just turned 40 and my SO is 47. We've been trying for #1 a couple of years now but this is our first IVF cycle. I'm not completely familiar with all the acronyms - it's like learning a new language!

We're dealing with MFI and I have PCOS. We've done 10 days of stims and just got the call today to go ahead with the trigger shot tonight and we'll be doing our ER on Tuesday morning! Our latest follicle count was 18 on the right and 10 on the left - the largest is 24mm. Because of my age, we were told PGT was a non-negotiable so that will be the next step for us.

    Hi all!

I replied to the June 2019 IVF thread not realizing I started a whole new thread...so just popping in here to provide an update. I received the ok last Wednesday to stop BCP (after taking for 10days) and to start stim meds today! I’m on menopur in the am and follistim in the pm. Very little to no pain with the shots- though I did feel the follistim going in- felt a burning sensation. Menopur was smooth but the mixing was frustrating, kept getting air bubbles so hubby took over- thank goodness!

So I didn’t have any breakthrough bleeding from Wednesday (last bcp) til before today...but now I’m spotting...just started tonight.  I’ll be calling my nurse in the am. But is this typical??? Has anyone experienced this?

@eb112 that’s a great number...sending you baby dust and wishing you a successful transfer..*stick embie stick*!
  • @pathomer yes that's pretty normal for the breakthrough bleeding to occur a couple days after stopping BCP. For me it showed up around day 4 after stopping.

@pathomer Thank you! We were given a Lupron trigger. (We were doing Follistim and Menopur as well at first and then added Ganirellix a few days in). It stung a little after it went in but that was about it. I actually had the opposite reaction you did - the Follistim didn't sting/burn but the Menopur did for a few minutes. I haven't done any IM injections yet but will have to with FET (progesterone) which I'm a little nervous about! Good luck with the stims!

@inthewoods23 thank you! Good luck with your FET! That's so exciting!

I am super frustrated...I got an EMAIL from my clinic nurse saying they froze 3 embryos...I have no photos, no grading, nothing....I replied to that email asking about the other 2-3 potential EMs that they were waiting for today to see....no answer....WTF

**Update** We now have 6 frozen embryos....she said they were all blast stage....I still want (and deserve) to know the grading...it's like pulling teeth here with this clinic today.

  • @covergirl2985 same with mine! I asked on the phone when they called with my PGT results and I didn't get any kind of answer, just that they're good. Like wtf does that mean though? All they all perfect or what?

AFM, 5 of my 6 embryos were normal (omg I ran through the house trying to find DH after the call and he had to stop his bathroom duties because he thought I was dying). Our FET, unfortunately won't be until September 10th! We have to pass through some downtime plus all the other bookings they have. I hate the waiting, but that does give us a better due date (it's after some competition dates for a program we mentor) so now we don't have to worry about being hours away and going into labor far from home. The wait begins!

  • Still waiting on embryo report from the embryologist, but my ER assured me that all 6 were of great quality.

My OHSS is going away very nicely and they scheduled me for the FET on July 25!!! I am now taking 1 estrace pill in the morning until July 5, then increasing the dose to 1 in the AM and 1 PM....PIO shots and progesterone suppositories are next. I'm nervous for the PIO, I've heard such horror stories.

Oh my goodness.  All 12 kept growing. 9 were at blastocyst stage and the other 3 will be checked again tomorrow. They transferred 1 and will do testing on the rest.

@covergirl2985 sending baby dust your way and wishing you tons of luck as you prepare for your FET!

@eb112 how exciting, that all 12 keep growing! Sending baby dust your way, as well.

Today is day 5 on stims- last night I injected myself with the follistim pen and it wasn’t as bad as I though it would be. Had blood work and first ultrasound this am- everything looks good- counted roughly 9 follicles in left and 7 follicles in right...hopefully they continue to grow!

  • Hi All! Been MIA for a few days at a conference in Vegas. I had a nice time and got away from work for a bit! I did get the news that 7 made it to Freeze on Day 6.

So I feel a little better, although was hoping for more to work with for PGS testing. I am on day 6 of waiting now, so hopefully, between tomorrow and Monday, I will get the results.

They grade differently so it seems. I don't have the breakdown of ALL 7 but she said I had a few:

    good, good good;
    good, fair fair &
    fair, good, good

No poors which she said is what they want to see, so OK then. LOL.

Had follicle/bloods today and lining is at 8.9, so that is good. My FET is likely to be (scheduled for now) on Friday July 12th (two weeks from tomorrow!!) so long as the results come back in time for me to start PIO shots (which arrived yesterday)!!

@Inthewoods23!! OMG! 5 of 6!! I am so happy for you. I can only dream of such great results. God willing, I will have 2-3 to work with!! sucks you have to wait so long though!!

Welcome to all the other newbies and Wishing the best news for ALL OF US!! :-)
