Re: Group 1 Check-in (Aug 1-7) w/o 04/14

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 24 weeks

Baby is the size of a(n): eggplant,  GI Joe, Atlantic puffin

Upcoming Appointments: Monday - the first routine midwife appointment (before it was basically just intake and getting stats for the beginning of pregnancy stuff but regular appointments don't start here until 24 weeks unless you're high risk). It should just be checking blood pressure,  hemoglobin,  blood sugar, fundal height,  and baby heart beat. My weight if I want

How are you feeling?: good.  Tailbone soreness is kicking in though. And I'm getting a lot of Braxton hicks.  Doesn't help that we live at the top of a hill and any slope,  up or down,  triggers them.  We also only take public transit so we walk everywhere.  It's like one big long 10-minute contraction going home from my bus so every day after work.  But dh is cool with me just passing out in the couch for aa long as I need ASAP lol

    Rants/Raves:

    Questions:

GTKY: spring time traditions you want to pass on to your LO? (easter,  passover,  non religious....)
Idk. We always did easter egg hints on Saturday to leave the religious days (Friday,  Sunday,  Monday) for that. We usually got a new spring outfit for Easter.  But other than that we didn't do the same thing every year for much. Maybe I'm looking for ideas here haha.

    Rants/Raves:

  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 23 wk + 6 days

Baby is the size of a(n): grapefruit

Upcoming Appointments: next Thursday for a regular appointment

How are you feeling?: tired - I barely got any sleep last night and I'm just in such a grumpy mood today

    Rants/Raves:

    Questions:

GTKY: spring time traditions you want to pass on to your LO? (easter,  passover,  non religious....) We don't really have any traditions. I do remember enjoying egg hunts as a kid, so this might be something we do when the baby is a bit older and we'll continue it if he enjoys it.
  • @moon1417 Wow at that U/S bill. Not cool.

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:
    Aug 2; 24w3d

Baby is the size of a(n):
    Cantaloupe

    Upcoming Appointments:
may 10; I’ll have another U/S to see if my placenta has migrated north and then do the glucose test

    How are you feeling?:
Glad I’m not the only one feeling tired and grumpy. I’m usually an extrovert that enjoys lots of activities but I barely like being around people these days.

    Rants/Raves:
I’ve been having a ton of pelvic pain. Trying to do more exercises to strengthen pelvic floor, also have an appt for acupuncture tomorrow

    Questions:
Should we/could we add a “Boy or girl or waiting?” Question to our weekly check-ins? I’ve forgotten what everyone said they were having...

GTKY: spring time traditions you want to pass on to your LO? (easter,  passover,  non religious....)
I want to start Blue Bonnet photos every year. We’ll probably do Easter egg hunts. We’re still trying to decide what kind of religious structure we’re going to provide
  • mkrelmkrel member
    @heml I like that idea!

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 24+2 8/3, girl

Baby is the size of a(n): Cantaloupe

Upcoming Appointments: I just had one- normal prenatal visit.  Nothing exciting going on.

How are you feeling?: Overall good.  Still tired and hungry.
    Rants/Raves:

Questions: Anyone else have a ravenous appetite?

GTKY: spring time traditions you want to pass on to your LO? (easter,  passover,  non religious....) We celebrate Easter and will probably always get some flowers and plants to spruce up our yard.  My daughter loves going to the garden center at Lowes and helping to water the plants, so I think it is fun to include her in things like that each spring.
@heml I thought about blue bonnet photos, then read that there are tons of snakes in blue bonnet fields and got scared lol
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 7/30, 24+6

Baby is the size of a(n): cantaloupe

Upcoming Appointments: nothing until 28 weeks

How are you feeling?: other than heartburn I’m good. Peeing less during the night which I appreciate

Rants/Raves: we potty trained DS this weekend! Only 1 accident in a 48 period. Que huge sigh of relief that he finally seems willing and able

    Questions:

GTKY: spring time traditions you want to pass on to your LO? (easter,  passover,  non religious....) DH and I both grew up Catholic so Easter has always been part of our traditions, however, we have made a very conscience decision not to raise our kids in the church. We plan on introducing them to a broader world view of various religions when they are older. So Easter for us is more about Easter baskets, egg hunts, and quality family time

    @heml I like that!  I'll edit this week's so it's they're when I copy/paste next week haha.

Any other changes to the prompts?  I find the rants/raves and questions section are often skipped.  Should we just take them out and know that people will ask/share if they have extra (even change it to an "other" prompt) or do people like having them there as a reminder even if they don't use them?

    Boy/Girl/finding out later?
    Baby girl

Baby is the size of a(n):
    Pomegranate

    Upcoming Appointments:
Had one today and my next one is in 4 weeks for the dreaded glucose test

    How are you feeling?:
Pretty good until I weighed today at the dr. I’ve gained 22 lbs so far and it’s just hard to see the scale keep going up

    Rants/Raves:
    see above about weight lol

    Questions:

GTKY: spring time traditions you want to pass on to your LO? (easter,  passover,  non religious....)
we always go over to my husbands grandmas after church on Easter. All the kids hunt eggs and we eat a good meal. I love Easter and will want to dye eggs with my girl and make her a pretty Easter basket to fill with goodies every year. When she’s older I’ll include undies in her basket. My mom always put them in mine so I think it’s a cute tradition to continue.

@newmamakt it is so hard watching the scale creep up. Just remind yourself that you’re growing a baby and unless your doctor has an issue with it, keep doing what you’re doing!
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days:
    8/5 24 w + 2 day

    Boy/Girl/finding out later?
Team green is officially team girl... dh wore me down, although he was really hoping for a boy, would love to hear some advice about how to get him excited (also brings some personal issues up as my father didn’t participate much in raising me - although that may have been cultural - which gets my pregnancy hormone addled brain going)

Baby is the size of a(n):
    Pomegranate

    Upcoming Appointments:
Had one yesterday for glucose check and cervix check (had leep a few years ago... cervix looks good) next one is in 4 weeks - which I guess would be the start of third tri!!!

    How are you feeling?:
Ugh, have a cold and really bad heart burn... want to take a nap but every time I put my head down, I’m in massive pain from the heart burn; any treatment ideas - have already gone over the prescribed tums allotment.

    Rants/Raves:
ditto on the weight... ftm, and I’ve never weighed so much in my life and I realize the circumstance, but it’s a lot to wrap my mind around

    Questions:
See acid reflux question above (yes will reach out to my gyno)

GTKY: spring time traditions you want to pass on to your LO?

We are of mixed religions jewish/catholic - so it’ll be interesting to see what we end up doing with the baby... probably which set of relatives we visit with that time of year.  We do live close enough to dc that I would love to do the White House Easter egg hunt one year (perhaps with a different president).
  • @becks68 Have you noticed specific foods are giving you heartburn or it’s anything and everything? Worse at certain times of the day? Maybe eliminating certain foods or shifting eating times would help?
  • @heml I’ve suffered from heartburn prior to pregnancy and had a pretty good idea of my trigger foods and times (eating close to bedtime); but this has been pretty consistent regardless of what I’m eating, I think I’m noticing it more today though because I’m trying to nap during the day and fight my cold - further triggering the heartburn when usually I’d be sitting upright at my desk
  • @becks68 I’m so sorry! Hopefully your dr will be able to give you or prescribe you something a little more powerful
