Bleeding starting 6 weeks after c-section

Hey all! I just went to my 6 week postpartum checkup last wednesday. They ran a genital culture (which came back normal), and did a cervix check and confirmed it was back to normal. I was no longer bleeding and only had light creamy discharge at that point.
They did find that my c-section incision was infected and came back for staph, but I've been on antibiotics for it.
However, I've had this extremely dark, basically black, bloody discharge ever since. Its been 7 days straight now of black discharge, and I've just went to the bathroom and it was bright red blood that I flushed down.
What could be going on? I started birth control pills the same day, so I'm 7 days in on that. Could it just be disruption from the cervix check?
