How are things going? What is something that you are struggling with this week? What is going well for you this week? R/R? I'm doing really well today. The weekend was SO nice out, and it felt so good to get out and spend some time outside! Also, a friend and I started walking super early in the mornings (5:30), so I got some light exercise in and I'm feeling positive... even though it POURED on us and we were soaked! I felt like the poor lil coony in my sig.
She just moved a mile up the road from us, and they're putting a little makeshift gym in their basement, so we're going to come up with some alternate workouts for the really rainy days and winters (hoefully we'll stick with it that long). Also, WE PICK OUT OUR PUPPY ON SATURDAY! I'm going to die of anticipation for the 2 weeks we have to wait after picking her out before we take her home. We think we're going to name her Winnie after Winnie the Pooh for her gold color. When she's being a turd, we can call her Poo Bear, or Winnie Pooper (Wonder Years). I love a good play on words.
Any testing coming up/any recent results? None
GTKY: What is your favorite outdoor activity? It's hard to pick one. I feel like I'm just a better person all around when I can be outdoors. I love kayaking, boating, and hiking (moderate, nothing too crazy) the best, probably.

@shamrocandroll I'm so excited for you and your new puppy!! I am a pet parent and my dog is my baby and I love him to pieces. Also I commend you on your commitment to exercising even in the rain. That's awesome. I avoid walking in the rain mostly because my dog doesn't like getting wet but I can't say I would like it either.

How are things going? What is something that you are struggling with this week? What is going well for you this week? R/R? Been MIA the last couple of weeks due to being overwhelmed with school and work and family. My aunt just passed away from breast cancer. Flying to Dallas for her services this weekend. Aside from that I've been doing pretty good. Told my staff about the miscarriages and they were great. Learned that another post doc had a miscarriage at the same time I did last summer. We were due 4 days apart. We bonded over our multiple losses. Its nice to talk about it openly and make people feel comfortable talking about it as well.
Any testing coming up/any recent results? Will get blood drawn for genetic testing this week for me and my DH.
GTKY: What is your favorite outdoor activity? I love to walk my dog every morning. It's a great start to the day. I also like hiking but haven't had much time for that.
@shamrocandroll So excited for your puppy!!!! And I like the name choice! Winnie reminds me of one of my fave movies, too... HOCUS POCUS! (I really love so many movies from my childhood.) I am glad you found someone to do exercise stuff with. I "prefer to work alone" in most situations, which I think I exude haha, but it reallllly would be nice to have someone like that, so I am glad you have someone.

Any testing coming up/any recent results? Testing tomorrow.
How are things going? What is something that you are struggling with this week? What is going well for you this week? R/R? At the same time I'd be super-excited/terrified with a positive result tomorrow, I'd be okay w/ a negative bc of all the good stuff we're doing to make the right choices for what may come. On the flip side, more and more bills keep arriving from my pg/procedure. Five now. And the top thing on my to do list is to take deep m-f'n breaths and call all these places and set up payment plans bc until the big project MH is on is over & he gets paid, we are super broke.
GTKY: What is your favorite outdoor activity? I really like just... sitting outside in the sun soaking it up, whether I'm at a party or on the beach, or sitting in my backyard with friends or alone w/ the doggies. That's not really an "activity" haha. I like when we take the boat to the beautiful lake near our house, but I only really enjoy when we take friends who've never seen how insanely beautiful it is? I less like when it's just us most of the time, but sometimes that's really nice, like, esp. when the world is being sucky. But that (sitting on a boat) *also* isn't much of an activity lol...
@shamrocandroll YAY PUPPY!! I love her name, it sounds perfect!
@maserrano714 I am so sorry about your aunt.
@kagesstarshroom good luck with testing tomorrow. I am rooting for you!

Any testing coming up/any recent results? Nope
GTKY: What is your favorite outdoor activity? Hahahahaaaa. I am NOT outdoorsy. At all. I generally stay out of the sun because I burn so quickly even with sunscreen. I do enjoy taking my dog for a walk in the late afternoon, though. Someone on our walking route has a lilac bush and it smells soooo good walking by.
@shamrocandroll I am so excited for all the puppy pictures! Two weeks feels so far away. You're in the puppy TWW! I love the name Winnie and I'm jealous of all the puppy cuddles you're about to get.
@maserrano714 I'm so sorry about your aunt. Cancer is terrible. Sending hugs your way.
@kagesstarshroom Ugh, so sorry you're dealing with all the post-loss bills. I get that the hospital needs to be paid, but it feels like such a slap in the face.

How are things going? What is something that you are struggling with this week? What is going well for you this week? R/R? I didn't expect the IUI to be successful, but I'm still bummed that it wasn't. I'm realizing that our journey really is almost over. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but honestly, part of me will be relieved not to have to think about this all the time. It has just really worn me down.
Any testing coming up/any recent results? US tomorrow I believe to confirm corpus luteum is gone. Nothing exciting.
GTKY: What is your favorite outdoor activity? Camping - but more specifically, being outside with a good book while camping. I can read outside for hours and it's a major bummer in my life that I don't have a hammock. I need a hammock!
@ruby696 A hammock sounds devine.
@emeraldduchess fx you o soon!
@maserrano714 I’m so sorry about your aunt. I’m glad you were able to find someone to talk to your losses about.

@kagesstarshroom Those post-loss bills are the absolute worst. I'm so sorry! Also, I totally counted boating as an outdoor activity! And I agree it's much more fun with people than by ourselves!
@emeraldduchess +1 for burning easily, but I've gotten really good at just applying sunscreen constantly, plus staying in the shade whenever possible! Plus they have the really cute rashguard shirts now that make being in the sun more doable.
@ruby696 I'm so sorry the IUI didn't work out and that you're nearing some difficult decisions. I hope you find as much peace as possible in whatever decision you make. Also, you're all going to get completely spammed with puppy pictures! Technically I'm in the three week wait for the puppy... we pick her this weekend, then bring her home 2 weeks after that. Going to be SO HARD!!!
@kbrown2385 Ooh, I forgot camping! I love that too! I've been doing it since I could walk, pretty much.

@kagesstarshroom I’m so sorry to hear about those bills for something so heartbreaking. That is so terrible. I hope this doesn’t sound ignorant but I just cannot understand why the charges in the US are so outrageous compared to Canada. Just doesn’t make any sense.
@ruby696 I’m sorry the IUI didn’t work
@emeraldduchess congrats on the + !!!! And hopefully the shower goes as good as can be expected.
@maserrano714 I’m sorry to hear about your aunt. F cancer. And happy to hear you were able to talk to your co workers about your losses and have them be comforting to talk too.
@shamrocandroll puppy!!! Yay! And I love the name. I love a good word play as well. We did my dogs initials so we can shit talk them without them thinking we are talking to them and getting excepted. So JAM and PAM have no clue 😂

How are things going? What is something that you are struggling with this week? What is going well for you this week? R/R? I have ovarian drilling and a blue dye test done with my tubes today. I’m in more pain then I expected, but I’ll survive. I have to work tomorrow and am dreading that but ah well. My drs receptionist is a very annoying person to deal with, I called to make a follow up appointment and left a voicemail and of course she hasn’t returned the call.
Any testing coming up/any recent results? Assuming I get a drs appointment, I’ll get the results from the 11 vials of blood they took last time.
GTKY: What is your favorite outdoor activity? Drinking on patios lol. Or kayaking to this little island that has a pub on it. The food isn’t that good but the drinks are great, especially after kayaking a little under an hour to get to it.
@kbrown2385 hope you get your results back soon. I hear you on the ss. Last cycle I had allll the crazy "symptoms" even though I was determined not to get my hopes up.
@ruby696 I feel the same way about reading outside! I wish I had a hammock but we have nowhere to put it. Plus our property is bordered by woods so...mosquitos.

ETA: spelling
For me to have my procedure done today, I don’t pay anything at all. And it’s not like I have work coverage or anything. It’s just our healthcare. And it’s for fertility stuff, not like an actual ‘medical needed’ surgery.
Even if I wanted a boob job, I’d still totally have to pay but my bfs extended healthcare work plan (50$ a month) would cover a HUGE portion of it.
I dont understand why on earth America can’t have the same medical system as we do up here.
I just want all of you lovely Americans to move here and bring all the good cereals and coke flavours lol oh and Target. And all the good restaurants haha.
I’ll make Nanaimo bars for everyone of you! (Fun fact, I live in the town where Nanaimo bars originated from)
@emeraldduchess I come from a family who has very addictive personalities. So I have always feared becoming addicted to anything. So for that reason, I refused to the pain meds they offered me.
So I’ve had an Advil. I’m regretting it a bit though lol
@kels0091 An island with a pub on it sounds like heaven! I live on a lake, and love to kayak and boat, but we have no island pubs. I'm sorry you're in pain, and hope you get good results back! Also, I had no idea what a Nanaimo bar was, so I Googled it and I think I've had them before. Sign me up to move to Canada! I'm only 3ish hours from it now, so it can't be THAT much colder, right?

Status: WTO- CD 11; supposed to start progesterone 3 days after ovulation
How are things going? What is something that you are struggling with this week? What is going well for you this week? R/R?
- I guess ok. I never had a true ovulation last cycle; thinking the cyst was a trapped egg when I had SIS on CD8. It also ended up being a shorter cycle (22) for me, which is not common (for me). Good news is, I guess I didn't have to decide about waiting last cycle. I have been taking the Ovaboost for almost two weeks now. I will start the progesterone this month. I am feeling stressed and burned out at work. I had so much personal turmoil this school year that I feel like I am not happy with my work attitude. I used to be on tons of committees and very involved in extra-curriculars; I had to start saying no to worry about myself. I have a very guilty conscious over that.
Any testing coming up/any recent results? just keep at the OPKs & BBT
GTKY: What is your favorite outdoor activity? I used to love to run! Now, I walk... I love love love going to baseball games. In fact, we had our first nice weekend this past weekend & BF and I went to a Cleveland Indians game.
@kagesstarshroom I am sorry to hear that these bills are still coming in. I had a payment plan set up also after my D & C; then the 2nd pregnancy & MMC happened. Now with seeing the RE, my payment plan is no longer working because the bills keep coming. frustrating to say the least. I am actually looking into a part time job teaching online.
give me a second to start another reply....the tags are not working.
@kbrown2385 keeping FX for all good things your way.
@shamrocandroll I love the puppy name! Those are amazing variations as well.
@maserrano714 I am sorry to hear about your aunt. Hope you get some positive answers with genetic testing.
@emeraldduchess Looks like are cycles are very close! I have my eye on you
@ruby696 I don't think I have ever been in a hammock! But- I also could sit in the sunshine & read for hours.
@kels0091 Maybe once global warming makes Canada warmer, I will join yall up there. Also, there IS hope for our health care system, I hope...
Hey all-- TTCAL question! One of the bills I was looking at yesterday said there was a tissue sample of something from my d&c sent to a pathologist for an exam--so I called them and asked what was examined and what the results were, and they circled me back to ask my ob bc no one ever told me any tissue sample was going to be examined and plus I never got the results? I just need... reassurance that it's full within my rights and not crazyperson business to call my ob's office and ask what they examined and what the results were.

How are things going? What is something that you are struggling with this week? What is going well for you this week? R/R? I am in this weird mindset where I am over analyzing everything about my losses. Rational side of me realizes it was probably nothing I did that caused my losses, but I still think a lot about "what ifs." What if I eat this, or take this supplement, or or make this lifestyle change. Like I have some control over something I really have no control over. I know if this cycle is a bust, I am calling an RE. It's time. Because I am driving myself crazy.
Any testing coming up/any recent results? None. Calling an RE if BFN this cycle.
GTKY: What is your favorite outdoor activity? I love swimming.
I've been laying low in anticipation of my appointment with a new RE. I met her today and she is AMAZING. She has expertise in autoimmune issues, believes in Eastern/alternative medicine, and was open to all my research as well as all my questions. LOVE. She is also a pioneer of IVF in my state and a well-respected researcher. Here are some things from the visit that may help others:
[*Disclaimer: I am not a doctor; I am simply passing on info I learned. I am NOT recommending any diagnosis or treatment of or to anyone. Also, TW for mention of MC & LC*]
- Repeat early losses often indicate an immune issue. Sometimes a mild antibiotic in the month before conception can help. Sometimes continuing it can help, but not a strong one and not for too long. Prednisone/ Prednisolone can be given (4 mg a day) for the first 8ish weeks of pregnancy to keep the immune response down and help the pregnancy to stick. At this dosage side effect risk is minimal.
- The ability to have one or two healthy LC and then begin experiencing miscarriages is an indication of an immune response kicking into high gear.
- Repeat early losses can also be due to a response to SO's genes being too similar to your own, or a rejection of his sperm overall. Testing should be done for compatibility.
- Later losses often indicate a blood-clotting disorder, even those that may not be discovered yet. PAI-1 was routinely screened for years ago & is much more common than doctors treat it now. All clotting disorder tests should be run on those with RPL, not just the most common clotting disorders.
- Many people would benefit from being on Lovenox or Heparin from Ovulation--there are many things out there that go undiagnosed or that we don't know about yet. (My hematologist said this same exact thing.) **MFMs & many REs will not recommend this, but it's because they're afraid to try anything other than the protocols they know (her words). Lots of wasted time, money, and heartache when a simple solution is out there for many (her words).
- Natural killer cells should be measured before pregnancy & periodically throughout pregnancy. They can become overactive in some people and "attack" the pregnancy. The company she trusts to run this test is ReproSource (they have an Immunology Supply Kit for various tests). They will mail a test kit to you, doctor's office draws blood & sends back.
- If you have a Naturopath, Acupuncturist, or Herbalist that you trust, do follow their advice for treatments before seeking out more invasive medication of Western treatment. They've been doing medicine for 3,000 years longer than western society (her words).
If you want to know more about these types of protocols, check out the 3 main Reproductive Immunologists in the country: Alan E. Beer Center in California, Dr. Kwak Kim in Chicago, and Braverman IVF & Reproductive Immunology in New York. Some will do phone consults, some won't without an initial in-person, some take insurance, some don't. I feel SO lucky to have found someone in my neck of the woods who is doing what these 3 sought-after doctors do. Feel free to PM me if you want more info. Prayers for success for all of us!
