@holly321 my doctor didn't say anything about the studies, but thought the progesterone was a good idea, because it can't hurt anything (except my wallet...$90 for 30 days of prometrium capsules). The Dr I saw today asked if I wanted to try injections every 2 weeks, but I thought that was a bit much.

My spotting has stopped, and as long as it doesn't start again, I guess I'll chill until my u/s on 4/29.

I told my mom today on the way home from the Drs. I figure telling her isn't going to change the outcome, and the extra prayers can't hurt either. Waiting for HCG and progesterone numbers to come back, and hopefully the pharmacy will have the progesterone RX for me tomorrow.

Meanwhile I felt a little nausea today, but not sure if it was nerves or an actual pregnancy symptom. I didn't have much nausea with any of my pregnancies, not even my full term one.

  • @mackorori I agree, the stats do nothing to reassure me, because I, or others I know, have been in that small percentage that loses their baby at various stages in the pregnancy or at birth. Someone has to be in that small percentage, and sometimes its us, sometimes it is those we love. The stats used to reassure me, but not after the second loss.

Hoping all goes well for you this time.

  • @Megz1902 I was just discussing this with someone else today. I see all the studies, but I feel this time around my stress level is significantly reduced because my Dr gave me progesterone. Mine has been low due to Mirena and I feel like whether it helps or not, it has alleviated my over stressing.

  • 48+ hours with no spotting, so I'm feeling more confident now. Started on the progesterone last night just in case it could help. I think there are a few others on this thread on progesterone? Does the added progesterone make you feel nauseous or boobs feel more sore? I'm wondering if my symptoms are kicking up or if its the progesterone. Doesn't help i started taking it at 6 weeks which is when symptoms start to get stronger anyway.

  • @Megz1902 I am on progesterone 200mg 3x daily. The only major symptom I’ve had is extreme exhaustion. At 6w5d nausea is kicking in and my boobs are killing me. Not sure if it’s the progesterone or not. I’m glad you can feel a little more comfortable now!
  • @megz1902 I'm taking progesterone because I did IVF, but I've also taken it with natural pregnancies. As I was told, it can't hurt to take it but can definitely help prevent MC if the pregnancy is viable and your levels are low. I was also told it has typical pregnancy symptom side effects, but those could just also be the actual pregnancy. Glad you are feeling better about everything.
  • @megz1902 I've been on progesterone after each of my IVF cycles; it definitely always give me a headache and makes me super tired.  I always stop after the first positive beta though, so I'm not sure if I would have been able to distinguish between the side effects and pregnancy symptoms.  I hope it passes for you.
  • @Megz1902 Same as the other ladies, I am on it and not seeing anything other than normal pregnancy symptoms.

  • Hi all, EDD is 12/10 and I’m 6w1d.
I am nervous and scared. I’m cautiously excited too though. It’s really hard to enjoy it when I’ve felt the pain that a loss brings. But I’m trying.
    TW
I recently started spotting on and off for a couple of days. Any type of blood has never been a good sign for me even though I hear it can happen. But I has an early u/s today and I got to see my baby with a heartbeat. So really hoping it keeps developing.
  • How many weeks are you? 4 weeks 1 day

    2. Previous loss(es)? Last cycle at 5 weeks 5 days last cycle and a partial molar pregnancy in 2008.

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? Exhausted, nauseous, nervous

    4. Any appointment updates? Second beta this morning 95, first beta on Tuesday (a day early) was 53.8. I go back on Monday for another beta. Ultrasound is Saturday 4/27

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? Anyone else do IVF to get pregnant this cycle?

    6. Any milestones coming up? Can’t wait for first ultrasound and hopefully beta raises on Monday

    7. GTKY? Favorite vacation? What does GYKY mean? Favorite vacation was Maldives and Barbados!
  • I’m on progesterone injections nightly since I did IVF 1ml injection a night. My progesterone is greater than 60 and said was good.
  • @italianmommy8 are you doctors in any way concerned or treating you differently because the molar pregnancy?  I have to have an ultrasound ASAP and besides having placenta pathology after birth, I am not sure if there is anything else different.  A
  • @italianmommy8 🙋🏼‍♀️ Iam here due to ivf, as well as a few others. GTKY means get to know you.
  • 1. How many weeks are you? 3w2d... just found out this morning!

    2. Previous loss(es)? We lost our daughter Noelle at 13 weeks in March of last year.  We have no idea what happened.  We went for an early gender scan and discovered that her heart had just stopped.  We did testing after my D&C and everything was fine genetically. 💔

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? Emotionally terrified that I’m imagining this or that it’ll end in another loss. Physically, fine :)

    4. Any appointment updates? Nothing yet, we were actually in the process of switching doctors so I’m just planning on calling an old one back for monitoring.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? Nothing right now ;)

    6. Any milestones coming up? Our oldest is going to turn 8 in June 🤷🏼‍♀️

    7. GTKY? Favorite vacation? We don’t go on a ton of vacations but we did just rent a cabin in the mountains this winter and the kids had a great time playing in the snow :)
  • 1. How many weeks are you?   3w 6d (EDD 12.31)

    2. Previous loss(es)? Missed miscarriage March 2018 when I was 12 weeks (although the baby stopped growing around 8 weeks, after my first US).

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically?  Incredibly anxious. A wave between excited and cautious. Really just hoping these few months fly by without any issues.

    4. Any appointment updates? First appointment isn't until May 20th. A little annoyed my midwife doesn't want to see me sooner but I guess there's not much they can do although I suggested getting a blood draw to check my levels and they told me they only do that for multiple MC's. :-1:

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? None yet. Honestly I'm trying to keep my mind preoccupied so I don't over think things right now. I have 2 other little babes so I'm just soaking up every moment with them.

    6. Any milestones coming up? None yet, besides my first appointment in May.

    7. GTKY? Favorite vacation? Maui, I just love the overall atmosphere and mood.

    2. Previous loss(es)? June 2018

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? Anxious, a bit excited. I was kind of getting used to us being a family of four; this pregnancy is a surprise, but a happy one.

    4. Any appointment updates? U/S for heartbeat next Monday. I wish I could move it  up.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? the OB I saw for the m/c and I'd seen some for DD#2 moved practices but stayed in town. I'm not sure if I should follow her. I liked her a lot.

    6. Any milestones coming up? just the appointment listed above

    7. GTKY? Favorite vacation? I'm the sort that likes to go to a new place every time... that being said, I'm partial to Carolina beaches and we live close enough to make it for weekend trips... but I dream of Iceland and New Zealand and Peru and Bali and Kenya and... and... and...

  • I am slightly dreading a dinner I am going to this weekend with my H and his parents. I'm not going to be able to hide that I'm not drinking, b/c it is a beer/food pairing dinner at a small local restaurant. It will only be us 4 at our table. When they invited us a few weeks ago, we tried to say no, as my Mom will be in town and we want to spend time with her. Then they invited my Mom along, and we said we'd check to see if the babysitter was available so we could all go. Took a few days to hear back from our babysitter, and by then we figured it was too late for his parents to find someone else to go with them, seeing as they already paid for the tickets to the dinner... so, we're going, and going to have to tell them we're pregnant, and I'm so nervous, because our U/S isn't until the day after that dinner (couldn't get it moved up to friday.) and what if it doesn't go well? Of course I want them to be excited when we tell them, but I also don't want them getting their hopes up...again.

Thanks PGAL brain, for taking all the excitement out of pregnancy

  • @Megz1902 you could always tell them you're taking metronidazole so you can't drink. My SIL did that for a bachelorette party. Drinking with that med can cause projectile vomiting.
  • @Megz1902 That's a tough situation to be in.  I'd go with the antibiotics excuse; they may or may not buy it, but it's worth a shot.

PGAL has definitely sucked all of the joy out of pregnancy for me.  It's probably not healthy, but I find myself planning on how I'll deal with another loss instead of planning for a baby.  Hopefully that will change.

  • Im actually due jan 6th,  hope you guy's don't mind me here til theres a jan group
     1. How many weeks are you? 3w3d

    2. Previous loss(es)? C/p jan 2019 and 7w3d March 29

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? Scared s***less, like im freaking out, really want my rainbow.  Physically , just so sick. My sniffles are horrible and nausea is even worse

    4. Any appointment updates? No appointments yet but i have my 2nd beta tomorrow. Hope it looks good

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? Dr wouldn't test my progesterone last time no matter how hard i pushed,  hope she does this time. My hcg was only 30 yesterday at 3w2d, is that bad?

    6. Any milestones coming up? Making it to 6 weeks so chemical is ruled out

    7. GTKY? Favorite vacation? I went to bahamas at 14, loved the Atlantis , really wanna go to the grand canyon or niagra falls as i love hiking and nature
  • Sorry I also would like to hold off on making an official introduction on the intro thread until I get my results back from tomorrow, I just can't believe this is happening and if it's ok would like to stick around the PGAL thread for now.
  • Omg im such a wuss, i just got teary eyed seeing you here, im so happy we got another chance this early but completely terrified of the what ifs. FX we get our sticky baby this time!
  • @mommystuebs <3<3 hope it works out for us!
  • @c1kc1kpol1cn1k I would not be considered about an HCG level of 4, that could be your normal non pregnant level.  On my molar pregnancy support group, there were several women who’s HCG never went below 8 and that was normal for them.  Mine is almost always at 2, depending the lab I used.

@mommystuebs 30 is probably a great HCG for 3/2 since you weee about 9 dpos.  I still had a negative test then.
  • High friends, I really appreciate you starting this thread. I hope we all get to see this group to the very end and support each other all the way.

    1. 5=6

    2. I am an infant loss mom, my son Ziggy died at 7 wks old from meningitis in August. I'm also a recurrent pregnancy loss mom, so I've had a CP about every other month while TTC, plus two MCs while TTC for Ziggy.

    3. Hopeful for the first time in a long time. Relieved that, that hope has given me back the excitement to parent my 3yo like I used to, and scared absolutely sh*tless that something is going to happen.

    4. Not until May 20th... which is my below rant.

    5. I switched practices and I adore my new doctor, she's also the first doctor to take seriously my hardships with conceiving. I was supposed to get an endometrial biopsy to help identify the issue, but I got pregnant and it stuck for more than a couple days! Yay! Anyway, I contact the practice multiple times, they say they will get leave a note for her, then radio silence. I contact her through the patient portal and a random nurse says no tests are necessary until 8-10 wks. WHAT? So... after going through these countless and unresolved losses, they (the practice, not my doctor) has determined that there will be no blood work to track HCG and no 6 week dating scan. So basically I just show up at 9 wks and hope for a heartbeat. Are. You. Serious?!?

    6. None pregnancy or toddler related, but my bday is next month and there's a Harry Potter fair (think a wizarding Renaissance festival) ON it.

    7. Tie: China when I was 10, my dance studio went on a 2 week performance tour and it was the most interesting experience of my life. Honeymoon to DR; all inclusive top shelf booze and the best food you could EVER find.

Nice to meet you all! And YAY that we are all here despite our trials and fears!

  • Thank you @holly321 trying not to stress

@stillziggysmom id be so aggravated if i was you. I'd demand to talk to the doctor. Its so frustrating when your issues and concerns aren't taken seriously
  • @nothingbuttherain and @bakerstreetboys  I thought about the antibiotic excuse, but my MIL is a nurse, and might ask what I'm on the antibiotic for. Plus we have had dinner with them at home the last 2 weekends and I wasn't drinking. Which if this wasn't a beer dinner, I could get away with not drinking again, possibly. We're just going to tell them and hope and pray of a good ultrasound on Monday. *shrug* Not much else we can do.

  • @holly321 Thank you for that info, I guess we will see how thing’s progress

@stillziggysmom welcome and that is so frustrating with your practice, is there any way to get through to your Dr and ask for a dating ultrasound at least?

@Megz1902 I hope you can get through this dinner and still enjoy it!

@mommystuebs good luck and keep us posted with your results!

  • So i got my betas back, they're 145, not sure what to think because they were 30 2 days ago, they've more than quadrupled , any thoughts?
  • @mommystuebs honestly not to sure since I’ve only had hcg tracker post loss. Did you try one of those online hcg doubling calculators. Maybe your dr will shed some light on that ?

    I received my results now:
    23/4- 12 DPO / 97
    26/4- 15 DPO / 520

    1. How many weeks are you? 5w4d

    2. Previous loss(es)? MMC in Dec 2018 with failed d&c, succesful d&c Jan 12 2019

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? I have been sort of lurking here and haven't introduced myself yet because while I'm excited I am also really scared. Physically my symptoms haven't been too bad - mild nausea/heartburn/bloating.

    4. Any appointment updates?
I called midwife yesterday and she was very happy for me. We are going to start bloodwork and tracking betas after I get back from a trip next week which will hopefully give me some peace of mind until our first ultrasound.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions?
I really wish I could go for an early ultrasound but it doesn't seem very common? Its very hard to find a family doctor where I am so we only have the care of our midwives.

    6. Any milestones coming up? I'm about to finish a season long residency with an opera company I've been working for since October and I'm looking forward to spending more time at home. No more commuting!

    7. GTKY? Favorite vacation?
DH and I love to travel so its hard to choose, but probably the 2 week trip we took to Paris/Barcelona/Granada in 2015. So much good art and food and sherry!

Edit: oh yeah and the reason I decided to post finally is because I saw @c1kc1kpol1cn1k in here. Thinking of you and wishing you all the best!
  • Thanks for the sympathy, guys, this early waiting is just so terrifying.

@mommystuebs I have never heard anything wrong with super high numbers. I'd ask the doctor just to soothe your nerves, but I don't think it's a bad thing. The HCG levels have SUCH a broad range for what is good. Congrats, mama <3

@jandawg Wow, opera. I wish we had a strong opera base nearby, it is such an incredible and mesmerizing form of art but I can never find anything. P.S. And I sooo feel the pain of wishing for an early ultrasound. Fingers crossed that these long weeks fly by for you.

  • @stillziggysmom - I mostly work in regular theatre so diving into the opera world is pretty interesting! It's so cinematic - you almost never get to stage 30 people in a regular play. Fingers crossed for you too - I hope things work out with your doctor and you get a better line of communication!
  • I had my first OB intake appointment this past Thursday, all my blood work came back normal including HCG level which was within range for almost 7 weeks (59,000 or so). I have to schedule a dating ultrasound and am just so nervous about it.....I had a MMC before so even though I am having all the symptoms in the world, no spotting/bleeding and everything seems fine... doesn't mean it actually is.
  • @Spartanrd4 that must be scary . When i started spotting they could still see a healthy hb and said baby was fine. But i was 6w6d and my hcg was only 4990, they said it didnt mean anything but i knew something was wrong. It just sucks how hard it seeing everyone enjoy their pregnancy but not being able to enjoy your own .

@c1kc1kpol1cn1k omg you have great doubling times as well!

Im trying to think positive about my betas but they're doubling rate is 21 hours , makes me scared it could be a molar 😣

    1. How many weeks are you?
    8w 3d

    2. Previous loss(es)?
I had a loss at 18 weeks, in 2009, followed by 7 yrs of infertility

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically?
I go back and forth between really hoping for this baby, and being indifferent, I think just to protect myself. Getting pregnant wasn’t our plan, but now that it’s here, I want it to stick around! I had a lot of spotting and some cramping a few weeks ago, and the doctor made a comment about baby’s HB being slow (so not helpful).  It’s so hard to enjoy pregnancy, when I know how easily it can end.

    4. Any appointment updates?
We heard baby’s heartbeat this past Friday, and that put my heart at ease.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions?

    6. Any milestones coming up?

    7. GTKY? Favorite vacation?
My husband and I just went to Maui for a week, alone, no kids. It was amazing! It so important take trips without kids once in a while.

  • @Spartanrd4 Good luck on scheduling your dating ultrasound. I know it must be so nerve wrecking but your hcg does look good!

@jandawg happy to see you here and glad you joined in!! Wishing you all the luck, I hope you get your first ultrasound soon :)

@mommystuebs has your dr planned any follow up tests or just to wait until your first ultrasound?

@Poppy16 Maui sounds amazing, and congratulations on hearing baby's heartbeat :)

Congrats @c1kc1kpol1cn1k! I'm so incredibly happy for you!! Fx so hard those betas keep climbing.  <3
