I am 12 weeks 4 days pregnant and beyond fed up with the nausea/vomiting! I have been sick with all day sickness since 6 weeks. I've lost 20 pounds so far. My doctor prescribed Zofran which doesn't work and Phenergan which only makes me sleepy. I am always weak and get shakey at times which is scary. I don't know what else to do, my doctor doesn't have anything else to give me. I've tried ginger tea and snacking which also doesn't help (I've thrown up crackers more than once.) I had vomiting until 7 months with my 2yo daughter but it was no where near this bad. I lost 35 during my ENTIRE pregnancy with her. The only thing that gives me occasional relief is unisom+b6. Any other home remedies that I'm missing? Please help me. Thanks ladies.
Re: So tired of nausea/vomiting (venting)
- seabands
- drinking juice/Gatorade instead of water or mixed with water (you need the calories, and maybe the liquids will stay down)
- sour candies or preggy pops
- smelling a lemon (or even sucking on a lemon slice)
- sometimes if I’m really nauseous it’s bscause my stomach is empty, and eating some saltines helps
- eating anything that sounds even remotely ok. Maybe you’ll throw it up, maybe not, but at least you have a chance of absorbing some calories.
- an antacid may help. Tums is safe, ask your doctor about other things like Zantac (I take it but I don’t want to recommend a drug without you talking to your dr).
I’m sorry you’re so sick!
I don’t think you can delete posts but don’t worry about it - this will eventually just fall to the bottom. Introduce yourself in the intro thread if you haven’t yet (I can’t keep track), read the Read Me thread, and feel free to just jump in on the other threads.
I’m an antepartum nurse and there are a bunch more drugs that your OB could give you that we give on our unit a lot. The meds we give our HG patients are:
Zofran
Phenergan (oral or suppository)
Reglan
Compazine
Tigan
Scopalamine patch
Unisom/B6
Benadryl
Tums
Pepcid
I’m sorry your OB isn’t giving you more options because there are definitely other meds you could be taking.
