Infertility

Introduction

I've been a lurker for several months.  I'm 41 and my wife is several years older than I am. We live in Texas.  We began trying to conceive with IUIs.  We have now experienced six failures.  All the private adoption agencies turned us down either because they don't work with same-sex couples or because my wife is over 45 and there is an age cap.  We went to the orientation session for foster-to-adopt but are not convinced that's a pathway we can manage.

I approached my Dr. last month about embryo adoption.  I got on my clinic's waiting list but due to my age went onto finding an agency that might help us.  Several of those turned us down because we are a same-sex couple.  However, we found one that we can both afford and that would work with us.  We have heard we are matched to three donor embryos and are working through the details.

I'll have the "fake" embryo transfer this month and hope for the actual FET in May.  During the IUIs I had either medicated with Clomid, Femera and Clomid (Femera failed completely for me and cycles with injectables and Clomid.  It's been extremely difficult to keep hope.  My wife is not as emotionally supportive in this process as I would hope.  I have been able to find a lot of comfort and information on this board.

Just wanted to formally introduce myself finally.
