  • I was so mad at the app the past few days because it wasn’t remembering which thread I had read. I just went to reply to this post and it told me I had to log in. 🤦‍♀️ So I guess that’s confession #1

There are so many posts I couldn’t keep track of which ones I’d read! Hopefully this did the trick!

Ok time for the confession #2:
I have loved my clinic. They have been absolutely great so far, but they released my results automatically on a Sunday. I then spent the rest of the day freaking out, convinced I had a uti. I waited until 2 on Monday when I couldn’t stand it anymore and called them. The nurse I talked to wasn’t overly helpful and just said the doctor has looked at everything and it looks fine. Another nurse called later, unaware that I called in freaking out and gave me much more detail as to why even though my ranges weren’t considered normal, everything looked fine.

Im trying to be relaxed about the whole pregnancy, but it’s hard!

Someone on here did suggest the book expecting better and that did help a bit!
  • Confession: I keep impatiently checking my email like every 20 minutes waiting for my Sneek Peak results!!! I'm so anxious.  I'm trying to study for a test, but it's hard to concentrate.
  • Got my results in!! I'll post in the other thread

@stephanie123456 I'm cautiously excited! I know they say it can be contaminated by male presence but really, is that even possible. It's not their blood that's being tested! I don't get it. I'm in the medical field and educated so I'm not sure how much I believe it. Maybe I need to do more research to understand how that's possible but I'm gonna go with it. With that being said, I'll be saving all my receipts until we get ultrasound confirmation!!

Also, if they're wrong they will refund you.
  • @alinic916 I think I read they will refund you after delivery of the baby... which kind of sucks! I probably won't remember in 29 weeks!
Was it hard? How much blood did you need for the test?

I have no idea what this test is, but studies have shown mothers of boys will always have some male fetal dna in their system, which is why there are instances of NIPTs saying boy when it’s actually a girl

  • @stephanie123456 Oh I didn't realize it's not until after delivery. At least they still refund you.

I don't think I'd call it "hard" but it was a pain in the butt to get enough blood. You need 0.5 mL. My advice is make sure to push hard when you stick your finger. They give you 3 lancets to use, but I was able to do it with one. I thought I was going to need a 2nd one, but got just enough.

This is my only concern with the blood tests (this and the NIPT). My firstborn is a boy so I don't know that I'd fully beleive it if the results were boy. And I'm not going to lie, I'd likely be a bit sad if it turned out to be incorrect because I'd love another boy.

I had them double check at the A/S to confirm when the NIPT said boy 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sneak Peek is the at home test. That makes sense with the NIPTs and mothers of boys, but Sneak Peek says, even in the presence of males, ie males living in your house or handling the collection materials, can contaminate. But that doesn't make sense to me because they're looking at your blood. I can't imagine having a male touch the materials would change the blood results.
  • @prpl11butterfly I totally understand that! I have a girl now and I love her to pieces, but she's tough! I'll be slightly disappointed if we go to the US and it turns out to be a girl. I am really hoping for a boy this time around. 1 girl is great, 2 would be tough!
  • @prpl11butterfly I'm really concerned about gender disappointment too, but because I want a girl. I know I'll be thrilled to be a "boy mom" but I've always dreamed of having a little girl and this is 98% for sure our last baby... I want to have a little mini me just like my husband does and I want to name a little girl after my late gma 💚 I keep telling myself that it's a boy just so I don't get my hopes up and that I'll be happy either way, I guess I'll find out next week if it's working lol

@nnaelilak I've been telling myself the same thing! If I keep thinking to myself how sure I am it's a boy, then it will just be a nice surprise if it's a girl, and not a disappointment that it's not. But we're also secretly hoping for a girl, mainly just to have one of each.
ETA - I think we both took our NIPT's on the same day so should get results back around the same time. Fingers crossed for you!

  • I'm glad I'm not alone! I did always want a girl. But now I have neice and like I said, shes tough. And also, I feel like it's good for her to not have another girl to complete with for DHs attention. She fights me for his attention and approval (she always banks on him siding with her in an argument over me). I truly don't want her to feel like she has to fight even harder. I think DS will handle sharing me a lot better...

My H is very reluctant to be team green this go around. I always wanted to be green, but caved because he really wants to know. When the nurse drew my blood today and asked if we wanted to know, my retort was that he did. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The tech who did the scan said she didn’t see the start of a scrotum like she normally does for boys at this stage. I’m hoping that gets him off my back and can buy me time to convince him not to find out 🙈

  • @cmbt2, is there a reason your H really wants to know? I only ask because I was hesitant to find out the sex until my H said he felt like it would help bond with the baby/feel more involved. That was enough for me to cave.

(That being said since this is your 3rd go-round, maybe your H needs to be the one to compromise this time!)
  • We have two girls and would love this baby to be a boy for variety sake, and it would stop any question that this is our last baby. We’ve been heavily joking that we are having twin girls and getting really comfy with the idea that there is a little lady in there. I’ll be slightly disappointed if we are having another girl, but our two are AWESOME and we’d be lucky to have another.

He wants to know solely because he can. 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • @cooaladolly I hope they come back quickly!! Fingers crossed that we're both on team pink!
@cmbt2 that makes me feel better! I hope if we do have a little boy again, he's my mini!! I'll laugh if we get a girl and it's another mini DH haha

  • @greenbean-2 I'm surprised to hear people concerned about that this day and age. I know plenty of women who never take a different name after marriage and I also know of men who do change their names. There are no guarantees there.

  • @greenbean-2 this stuff drives me nuts. As soon as I found out Fiona (my second) was also a girl, my dad asked if we’d be trying for a third to try for a boy. I told him I have no idea but if we didn’t it didn’t matter because our two girls are ENOUGH.

Everyone we have told about this pregnancy has been all OMG DO YOU HOPE IT’S A BOY?!??

We have 2 girls and I sorely want another girl. Everyone who knows we're expecting (so, honestly, not many) has been super supportive. My late FIL, however, was all "oh, another girl? But you'll try again for a boy, right" when we told him DD2 was going to be a girl. So I also kind of want a third girl to posthumously annoy him :p
