Bucket list items I’ve crossed off: Skydive (I will never do this again) Received my certification for scuba diving Received my bachelors degree with honors Happily Married Have a Family (soon to be completed 😊) Hiked a multi day ‘Great Walk’ in New Zealand (Kepler Track) Studied Abroad Summited a 12000+ Mountain Hiked the Narrows and the Subway top down in Zion Repelled down a waterfall Seen Old Faithful Ran a 1/2 marathon (I HATE running so that was a big one, also, never again)
To Do: Visit all 50 states (I’ve done about 30) Dine at all 3 star Michelin restaurants worldwide Hike the W in Patagonia Read all #1 NYT Bestsellers in any given year Fluently learn a second language Visit Machu Picchu See Everest (not climb it! Those people are nuts) Hike 1 of the 7 summits Get back into playing the piano well and teach my kids Volunteer with my entire family once they are all old enough in a third world country
@olivemomma you and I would get on well! I love your already crossed off bucket list items. I've been skydiving as well (but I'd TOTALLY do it again --- I still get a buzz when I think about it!) and was setting up scuba lessons to get certified, but then I got pregnant with Pickle so no scuba for me. It's still something I'd like to do when the kiddos get a little older.
Things remaining on my bucket list:
Get scuba certification
Dive with sharks
Travel the world
Run a 1/2 marathon
Sail with my aunt and uncle (they have a custom built catamaran and sail all over the world!)
SCUBA is super amazing and I highly recommend it!!!
I don't have my actual list handy, but here are a few things:
Completed: Visit Australia, Scotland and New Zeland Be Happily married Scuba dive on the great barrier reef Save a life Swim with Dolphins (in the wild) Go White water rafting Drive on the wrong side of the road See a Humpack in the ocean Do a real hedge maze Sleep in a real Scottish Castle
Still to do: -Visit Antactica, Egypt, Ukraine and Greece -Fly in a helicopter -Raise a family -Sky dive -Visit every continent -Bungee jumping (probably will always chicken out. Especially with this little one in the picture). -Visit every Canadian Provience and territory. -I also want to go to every Disney Land, but I actually have no interest in going to Hong Kong itself... -Become Fluent in French (so I can tell what my future kids are saying 😂) - I also have an alphabet restaurant date list that my DH and I started on our first date. We are supposed to go on a date to a restaurant that starts with each letter of the alphabet. We still have 4 or 5 to get though haha
This is very interesting - I consider myself very goal-orientated but I don't have a "bucket list" per se. Honestly, my biggest goals/bucket list items are to be able to pay for my kids to go to college, pay for their weddings, and retire comfortably with DH.
Completed: -visit every Disney park in the world -get married at Disney -run a marathon -travel around Europe -travel around Asia -buy a new-build house -have a Yorkie
Almost complete: -have a baby
on my bucket list: -stay at Disney’s Aulani in Hawaii -stay at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort -do an Adventures by Disney trip -Dine at Club 33 at Disney -travel to Australia -go on an Alaskan cruise -go on a cruise through the Greek Isles -stay in an over-the-water bungalow in Fiji -stay at an all inclusive resort in St Lucia -Run a race in every state (9 done) -run a race on every continent -be a Florida Gator season ticket holder -go in a hot air balloon -go bungee jumping
Add me to the list of the, uh, listless at least in terms of particular things! I started having kids on the older side (in part because of fertility issues, in part because of being in school forever) so I got a kick start on a lot of my life goals, though my work isn't done! In broad terms I'd like to:
-continue to have a marriage based on love, respect, and communication -continue to do a lot of travel (probably when we're out of the immediate infant-toddler phase) -continue my political and humanitarian activism and try to make the world a slightly better place -continue professional advancement in more contributions to my various fields -raise my children to do the same: attain good educational goals, work towards political and humanitarian aid, derive joy from and bring joy to the world (well this got sappy)
on a pettier level I'd like to:
-either do the necessary renovations to our house or move already (we're in the bay area and oh man do we need some seismic upgrading to make our house earthquake safe!) -at the very least publish the book whose publication agreement my coauthors and I just scored--it's not going to be a groundbreaking academic hit or anything but I just want it done! -lose all the babyweight and stay in shape over the decades so that I can be an attractive corpse at 110 years old when I die surrounded by my loved ones
Life goals would be to become FI, and retire early and travel the world with my family. Stay married! Raise great kids.
Travel-wise we have done several things that were on my bucket list already (Ireland, Alaska cruise, visit a volcano, etc.), but I have tons more on my list!
- Visit every continent (may give myself a pass on Antarctica. So cold) - Visit all 50 states - Take a big US road trip & see all the big sites (Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, etc. Etc.). - Australia is a biggie. Our first trip when we can both retire is an open-ended Australian exploration. - I'd love to go to Mardi Gras in NOLA. - See the tulip fields in Holland - See the northern lights - See Old Faithful erupt - Sleep in a glass igloo - See an elephant in the wild
One completely off the wall and somewhat out of my control, is to find/have a food allergy treatment to eliminate my food allergies.
My bucket list is always being updated and modified. I’ve done a lot of amazing things and seen so many cool things. I’ve been white shark diving, whale watching in South Africa, on safari...but I don’t keep an actual list of things.
My current bucket list for now is:
1. 30 countries by 30 is my biggest one right now. Our 2019 plan is UK, Luxembourg, and Portugal. Our 2020 plan is Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Croatia, and Slovenia. Hopefully, Estonia and Latvia if we have time. Baby Boy better like travelling!
2. Go to all continents 1 day. I have 2 to go.
3. Safari in Kruger or Serengeti.
4. Open my own business (hoping I can do this when we return to Toronto)
5. Try to slow down and enjoy life. It goes by too quickly.
6. Rescue/foster more dogs and get back into animal rescue work when we return to Toronto.
I have a small bucket list. Travel back to Europe, especially Germany. Travel to Australia and New Zealand. Be Teacher of the Year, even though it's generally a total popularity contest. Buy a house on a few acres to have a nice garden and orchard. Be able to take my family on awesome vacations like I got to do growing up.
Oh man! Buy a fancy apartment in NYC Travel to Europe (I have never been! I got a huge scholarship to study abroad and my parents wouldn't let me go) Become a published author
@ElcaB, our whole plan when moving to Europe was to travel more but, because of my MBA, we really haven’t done a ton so we are improving on that. Since I’ll not be working in 2020, it’ll be easier to travel as long as baby cooperates. We will try to go to as many places in Europe as possible before we return to Canada.
I have a 40 things before 40 list that I’m working on. A few big ones that I haven’t crossed off yet:
Ride in a bobsled Take golf lessons Read 30 books in a year See the Gators gymnastics team in person (I already crossed off see the football & basketball teams in person)
