Pre-labor signs you remember?

Hi ladies!!

I'm currently 37 weeks as of today and might be freaking myself out. My family is currently in Spain as my husband is forward deployed here and currently out at sea so I REALLY don't want to go into labor early. (MIL will be here in 2 weeks).

I was induced for my last pregnancy so I never experienced the spontaneity or any "signs" that it was about to happen, but I've been terribly nauseous all day today and have had several soft stools, but not diarrhea.(TMI, sorry).

BH contractions have been as usual, but with more cramping. I actually yelled out a bit today at a particularly painful bout and scared our dog lol.

Just curious what you all remember and if I'm worrying over nothing and this is normal 37 weeks symptoms. (It's also been 5 years since my last so I don't remember much of this sort of thing).

TIA! :)

Re: Pre-labor signs you remember?

  • I remember feeling hungover during the first stage of labor - lack of appetite and thirst, nausea after I did eat, and very regular contractions. I didn’t have any warning signs the day before or overnight (other than my water breaking six days earlier).

I’d definitely call the ob and talk through your symptoms with him/her.

(Also, I’m jealous of your duty station! I tried for there or Naples but my orders never worked out.)

  • I had no signs.

I went walking around the mall on Saturday to try to get labor going since I was set to be induced the following Monday. Ended up with contractions and spent the night bouncing on the exercise ball till they became regular. Took a shower to make sure labor wasn’t going to stall then went to the hospital.
    this is my backup acct.

  • I didn’t really have any signs either.
I went in for my 40 week appointment and my OB sent me over to the hospital for a NST and to set up my induction. During the NST I started having regular contractions and went from 2cm to 4-5cm in like 30 min.
I think my cervical check is what did me in. Not sure though.
  • DS#2 I walked for several miles on a Saturday (slowly, over time and without a plan to induce labor, just a sunny day!). Had had BH every night for several weeks. Had them again that night. Lost part of what looked like a mucus plug after a bath on Saturday.  Contractions stopped after the bath. Lost more on Sunday morning. Intermittent contractions all day on Sunday. Sunday evening, tried to slow them down by lying down, then taking a bath (which usually did the trick). They kept coming and we started counting around 8p. At the hospital by midnight. Baby came Monday at noon.

Right now, I'm 35+3 with DS#3 I've been having BH basically every day for two months; yesterday they went on for six hours! Some of them were painful! Lots of cramping and back pain all day yesterday. The baby has dropped and is definitely putting lots of pressure on my bladder, pelvis, back and cervix. Contractions stopped after I got through about 50 ounces of water and stayed still on my left side. Back at work today (desk job) with no issues. Trying to remember to stay extra hydrated!

    Good luck!
  • I had an upset stomach at first I woke up at 4am thinking do I need tums? What did I eat. Then realized it was probably early labor and went back to sleep lol. That day I had some loose stools and on and off mild nausea. Around 4pm I started vomiting and having loose stools every 2-3 contractions. By 11pm I was 3 cm dilated. GI symptoms can be a sign of early labor. Drink something electrolyte ritch, eat if you feel like it, take a relaxing shower and lay on your left side if things don’t ease up in an hour or so call your dr or midwife just to check in with them.
  • I woke up around 3am with crampy feeling contractions and counted them at 4-6 per hr and slept on and off with them like that and they increased slowly all day. That was really it. (4 days later dd was born, so my story stops being standard, she was stuck and it was not average in anyway but the first 15 hrs was normal slow increase in contractions.
  • Increased discharge, more frequent bms, orange when I wipe (only twice), stabby stomach pain low down (constant not waves), very nesty, nausea. Any of this good signs or wishful thinking?
  • My hips and pelvis have been insanely achey and tender. Baby dropped, but I don’t remember this with my first. Anyone have the same thing?
