@LJMoon6 What a cool experience -research in Antartica. You clearly have the most interesting answer to that question!

@themadcamel Another thought is you might want to consider the iron in your prenatal. iron is notoriously constipating.

@calliah no movement yet, just my rumbling stomach  looking forward to feeling movement so i can be constantly reassured.

@kmitchy that is the cutest announcement story! must have been quite a special moment for all of you.

@kgg2241 sorry about the work daycare. I had a similar experience and also thought i was crazy for inquiring so early. i don't have a chance of getting into my work daycare until July 2020 and it's crazy $$$. i'm having a hard time coming to terms with the price of daycare around here. sometimes i wish i could stay at home...

    Upcoming Appointments: Next Monday 3/11

How are you feeling?: Pretty great

    Rants/Raves: see above

Questions: what is the latest week of pregnancy you would recommend for a week long trip that would involve more than sitting on a beach?

    Est Due Date/ Weeks + Days: 9/26, 11+6

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM+

Interesting Baby Fact / Baby is size of ...: baby is losing the webbing on its fingers and toes!

Upcoming Appointments: Have to drop off my 24hr urine sample gasoline can later today. Sexy. 12w regular OB appointment on Thursday, and then first meeting with MFM, NT scan and genetic counseling on Monday.

How are you feeling?: still tired and lazy. Most mornings it feels like such a monumental task to get out of bed, get myself dressed, make beds, get kids to school, etc. And then to have to go to work, and then come home and be a pleasant parent till bedtime.  Plus do all the house stuff.  DH is getting the shaft HARD and has NOT been quiet about his dislike for it.

Rants/Raves: See above, haha.  Also, when am I going to start having a taste for healthy food again?  I don’t think I’ve eaten a single healthy thing in weeks.

    Questions:

GTKY: (Stolen from TTGP) What is the farthest away from home you’ve ever been?  5th grade school trip to Venice/Paris/London.  So, whichever one of those is the furthest from here!

@nomango23 good luck at your NT today. Thinking of you and praying for great news!

    @themadcamel have you pooped yet??

@kgg2241 I put DD3 on the waitlist for the CDC at H’s work (daycare center) when I was around 6 months pregnant with her, not realizing JUST how long the ‘waitlist’ was.  FF to current… she turned TWO last month… and is STILL ON THE WAITLIST. So, yeah. I feel you.

@mamaber2204 GIRL SAME on the announcements!! We bought my parents a onesie that said, ‘my sister watches over me’ and wrapped it with the ultrasound pic and gave to them.  Literally my mom was like ‘ohh, this is so cute!’ I asked her whose ultrasound pic she thought it was and she said ‘Sloane, obviously’ – our last baby.  WTF? Why would I give you a ONESIE with those words, with an old u/s pic?  WTF you think I want you to do with the onesie?   Put it on your cat or something?

@septoctkids we’re in the midst of contemplating whether to sell/buy as well.  The spring market here has not bloomed yet and inventory is SAAAD. So, I’m hesitant to list our house and have someone scoop it up and then be stuck with nothing or something we don’t love. But time’s a ticking to make the decision because it’s only going to get harder as we get more pregnant.  Also, we had a pram with our stroller.  DD hated the thing.  But, she hated all the things, so.  I’ve decided to just sell our stroller and accept that this baby is going to be in a carrier all the time.

  • Options
@kiddiesandkitties thanks for your feedback. I’m thinking of skipping the pram. I feel like they aren’t in it long enough anyway. My son loved to look around and stuff when we were out doing errands and they can’t really do that in the pram either. Which carrier do you have? I have an ergo 360 but might get a solly wrap for the new baby.

buying/ selling is so stressful. Our house is going to be listed at the end of April. We’ll be moving in with my parents until we find something we love once this sells. Luckily we get along great with them, and it won’t be so bad being there but I just want to be settled long before baby number 2 gets here! It seems like a lot of houses are starting to pop up so hopefully it continues. Good luck on your decision.

Upcoming Appointments: Tuesday! Just a random monthly appointment, but I should be able to schedule my anatomy scan for next time.

How are you feeling?: Excellent other than the belly bloat (see cow comment above).

Rants/Raves: Taking off work on Friday to go to the beach to finally tell my grandpa that I'm pregnant.

@kiddiesandkitties I actually did!!!! I managed to go a bit yesterday. As a FTM I can't really know for sure, but it felt a lot like what I imagine labor and delivery might feel like  .

    ETA:
@septoctkids good luck with all of your real estate stuff! That's great that you can stay with your parents while you search for your home. The last time we moved, DH and I were contingent so we had to sell 2 properties whilst looking for one to buy. It was such a headache!
  • Options
@themadcamel thanks so much! In a perfect world we would have an offer accepted and all go smoothly when we sell our house and move right into the next but like you said it can be a headache so I highly doubt we would get that lucky! Haha

Looking at your response to @kiddiesandkitties.. So glad you were finally able to get some relief and got a glimpse of child birth 😂

LJMoon6 Your adventures in the South Pole sound amazing! What an experience!

kgg2241 Every time I read people's posts about their struggles with healthcare it absolutely dumbfounds me. I knew it was much more difficult in the states, but wow! I feel so much for all of you who have to struggle with insurance and finding proper care. As if that stress is really needed right now! My heart goes out to you all!  <3

mamaber2204 That story is so ridiculous about your MIL! Hahaha I purposefully didn't do anything too vague because my MIL would not catch on. She's so slow at picking up hints.

    FTM/STM/STM+: FTM

Interesting Baby Fact / Baby is size of ...: It's so interesting that the baby already has vocal chords and fingerprints forming, and it's still sooo small!

Upcoming Appointments: U/S tomorrow. And my mom is coming up for it. It will be the first time I have seen her, or really talked to her, since I told her I was pregnant. So the visit will be really nice.

How are you feeling?: My nausea is better during the day. It still ramps up at night and I still randomly gag on things (my hair, my saliva, toothbrush. etc).

Rants/Raves: Rant: I feel so much worse when I have to go to work and sit at my computer all day. If I can keep moving on the weekends and relax when needed, my day feels a million times easier. And I feel like I get more important things done on the weekend. Rave: My DH has painted the nursery! He wants to touch up the trim and baseboards still, but the walls are done and it looks fantastic!

GTKY: (Stolen from TTGP) What is the farthest away from home you’ve ever been? Bali for our honeymoon. And I hate to admit it, but we were thoroughly disappointed. We booked through a travel agent (that is where we registered for our wedding) and I think that was our biggest downfall. She didn't take the time to understand what we wanted and expected, plus had never been there herself.

Interesting Baby Fact / Baby is size of ...: a scoop of ice cream. Obviously not my size scoops

Upcoming Appointments: today I finally had my initial appointment. Found out they moved my due date.

    Questions:

@janat1717 that sucks your DS got scared! Poor guy :( Is the anatomy scan somewhere different from your usual appointments, and/or is there some way you could spin it as an outing for him where he might be willing to come in at the end with YH so they could see the baby? At our NT scan they wouldn't let my DH and DS in with me until they'd finished the medical portion because they only allow one adult in the room and no kids (I'm sure different places have different rules), which does make sense but took us by surprise at the time, and we realized that meant DH wouldn't be in the room for the bulk of the anatomy scan either.
@themadcamel glad you got a little bit of relief and hope it doesn't get so bad again!

Interesting Baby Fact / Baby is size of ...: Baby has fingerprints!

Upcoming Appointments: Specialist appointment next Mar 21.

How are you feeling?: Less exhausted but still coughing.

Rants/Raves: I’m a teacher and my rant is a co-worker that never shows up for duty on time.
Rave: I made chicken Alfredo and it was delicious! Just eating all the carbs

Mobilebumping - I’ll try to “at” as many people as possible.

@themadcamel I have a constipation problem (like all the time). I would also suggest 1 cup of coffee in the morning and a few exercises: squats or walking (preferably on an incline). I’ve tried everything and now that’s the only thing that works for me! Although, I hope by now, you are feeling better.

@kgg2241 not to sound all basic, but I can’t even with childcare/daycare. It’s the same around here so we didn’t even bother. For those that have the space, an Au pair can be a super cost effective way of going about childcare ( assuming that you have 12 weeks of Mat leave, because they can’t take care of babies younger than 3 mo). My Au pair is now my nanny (not cost effective now but she’s great w my kids and is worth her weight in gold). She will be w my newborn. I just mention this bc the daycare is like hunger games around here too and we didn’t get in. Ended up using my mom for a bit but that was not good. Anyway, I feel like a hardened veteran of the childcare thing, so feel free to pm with any questions!

@septoctkids @janat1717 you’d think with all the ads, the bump can afford an upgrade to the app (I work in tech). It’s not THAT expensive to sort out all the bugs.

@calliah and @jaykay2004 what does the movement feel like? I have anterior placenta (3rd time, wtf!) and I am 14 weeks. All I feel is my intestines being pushed out, probably bc of my stomach! (Carbs anyone?)

@ljmoon6 that’s so cool. You seriously have the most amazing job and yay for women in science. I am having a daughter and I am probably way prematurely worrying about the math/science thing with girls. I am in tech (my team is in charge of all of the tech training for our consultants and some other random stuff). All of my other colleagues (women) focus on softer skills and literally complain about how the tech is above their heads all the time. Cmon, ladies! We got this.

@mamaber2204 that’s hilarious! Is she that slow to catch on? I am glad she finally got it! @kmitchy your reveal sounds so so sweet!!

@MsBeachNJ hats off to you and your hustle, girl! I can barely half function at my job right now, I am so beat.

I’ll post my update under another post and hello, to anyone I missed. I tried to respond to as many as possible. :)

Est Due Date/ Weeks + Days: 9/11 (something like that) 14 weeks and change

    FTM/STM/STM+: this is #3! I have a 3 year old and a 15 month old.

Interesting Baby Fact / Baby is size of ...: I hate these, ftr. Like I am insanely sick and baby is the size of a lego man? How are you making me so sick! That said, I think I am a peach this week and baby is starting to sprout hair!

Upcoming Appointments: eek I forgot to make my 14 week appointment so ill be going next week.

How are you feeling?: so. Much. Better! I only get nauseous at night. It’s awesome and I can finally function!

    Rants/Raves:

rant: I want to look pregnant instead of bloaty. Last time, I popped by now but this time, nope. So weird! Nothing fits and I hate shopping. Not a
Good combo for work. I look ridiculous.

rave: I feel better, finally! I honestly worried the m/s would never lift. It just gets bad if I get hungry, so I eat all the time. Takes a lot of effort, actually.

Questions: I’ll post on the NT thread but I got my results and they aren’t really any diff than nipt. I thought I got way more thorough results with my last pregnancy.

GTKY: (Stolen from TTGP) What is the farthest away from home you’ve ever been? India for work. It was insane bc I flew 48 hrs for 2 days of meetings. I can’t say I saw a ton but it was cool just to be there and get to experience the vibe of a culture that’s so diff. Most amazing thing (as a semi road ragey kind of gal) is that their traffic was beyond nuts (everyone honking and cars everywhere- no one followed the lane markings), but no one was angry! People would literally lose their shit here (at least where I live).

@kmitchy I am still in physics but not in astro particle physics. I definitely miss it. See comment below on what I currently do.

@rms924 Yes, women in science is awesome! It can be a little hard being around men all the time but I grew up with 4 brothers so I’m sorta used to it. I actually prefer to work with men… What can I say, us women can be hard to deal with lol. I don’t work in astro particle physics any more. I am currently doing research in nanotechnology. I work for a university and support graduate students with their research projects. I also get to do my own little research when I have time. Basically I make really small things for a variety of applications.

I also appreciate working w men- sometimes it’s  simpler! That said, I have amazing female mentors at work and I love that. I think they are superheroes and they are always there to lend a helping hand. But, for the most part, it’s more straightforward dealing with the guys

@rms924 I love how straight forward men are. I don't have to guess how they're feeling lol. The most common thing people think of when they hear nanotechnology is the semiconductor industry. The electronics in your phone, for example, use nanotechnology. That's how we're able to keep making electronics smaller and smaller. But there's so much more to it than just semiconductors. There's a lot of different disciplines. Dentistry, geology, ophthalmology, biology in general. Look up the ted talk called body parts on a chip. It's fascinating. Before I got KU I was working on a project making tiny devices that are inserted into your eye to treat glaucoma.

@rms924 haha thank you for the solidarity in your annoyance with daycare. I think we are going to start looking into the nanny route. I'm hoping we can find like a nanny share, but that might not be possible. It just feels so cutthroat with actual daycare centers. It is insane the competition. I did find one today though will let us on the waitlist, but then of course my mind immediately thinks something must be wrong with it if it is actually available.

Also, yes. I am so ready to look pregnant and not like a bloated mess. This in-between stage is hard!

@rms924 Early movement is weird, assuming that is what I am feeling. I feel something (probably 20 x a day) that feels like a little "ping" or "twinge" in my uterus. I don't know if that is movement. What I have felt, maybe 2-3 times a week, is something that literally feels like a moth is maniacally fluttering its wings in there, lol. It feels so strange! I know it's not gas or other tummy rumbles, but since I've never felt early movement before, I don't even know if that's what it is!

Hi all, I introduced myself about a month ago and then disappeared.  I am a PGAL mom of a 2 year old girl and 3 losses.  The stress of being pregnant again got to me and I felt I couldn't join in more fully until I was more confident in the pregnancy. I've also been dealing with a lot personally in the past month with my daughter having the flu twice, my husband getting it once, and my having bronchitis.  On top of that my nana passed away and my husband got in a minor car accident.  Talk about a month.....I'm hoping things settle down.

    Est Due Date/ Weeks + Days: 12 +1

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM

Interesting Baby Fact / Baby is size of ...: Green toy soldier/ripe apriocot

Upcoming Appointments: Was supposed to be seen yesterday for a 12 week but had to switch it to next Thursday because I couldn't get my shit together to get there on time.  Had my NT scan on Monday though and everything looked good and my NIPT test was sent out Monday so we can be sure that genetically things are okay.  We haven't announced the pregnancy to anyone yet in real life but will once the NIPT results come back clean (hopefully).

How are you feeling?: So nauseas all the time still and still coughing from bronchitis so having a really hard time getting any real food in.  Having been so sick and anxious regarding my daughter being so sick, I've lost 6/7 lbs in the past few weeks.  I'm a bit shakey all the time and basically living on sugar - sour patch kids and gingerale :(
