I remember that! Our BMB had migrated to Proboards by that time and when the catfish stuff went down we just completely binged on it.

I was just coming to say I think the thread was still around. I remember when it went down! One of your BMB members came and played on mine, so we all got brought into the loop as things started going down. 😬😬

  • @PenelopeSnuz77, ahhhh ok. Now that you mention it, I realize I have read that one. That's totally crazy, and I sincerely hope we don't deal with any catfish on October 2019. That being said, everyone should always practice good internet safety because you never know!
  • @emily1052 That just happened to us last week! We had to throw out everything in our freezer. It sucked.

@PenelopeSnuz77 Wow! That's so crazy that there's people in the world that will do stuff like that. On my Oct 15 board, we had one that we eventually found out was a fake.****TW***** We found out because at like 20 weeks or so she said her baby wasn't moving anymore and the doctor told her she had to carry the baby to term even though the baby had passed, which would never happen. Eventually some people found her profile pic to be someone else's. It was pretty bad.
  • we also had a catfish on July 2017. I don't remember the whole story but it ended up that she was stealing one of her friends' facebook pics and using them on TB. Someone from our BMB actually messaged the friend and her responses just made it all seem super fishy. Never found out if she was actually pregnant or not. It was pretty early on I think so nobody was super invested in her or anything.

  • I totally have read through the July 14 saga. I think my last BMB also had a July 14 mom in it? Or I just stumbled on it, don't remember now.

@galentine I am also not good with blood draws. When I had mine done for the blood work panel with DS, they only got about 4.5 out of 6 before I passed out in the chair. I woke up with 3 nurses standing over me. Since then, I always have them lie me down on the examination table, even if I'm only having one or two vials done. The GD test was the worst, because I was already feeling a bit faint from fasting!

  • @steminist, I'm sorry you get woozy too, it's no fun. It's been a several years since I've fainted for a blood draw, but since I have fainted for other random things too in the meantime, I just don't take any chances. I lie down every time too. I figure it doesn't hurt anything, so I might as well be extra cautious just in case.
  • I went back and was reading that thread...that’s crazy. And scary. The app glitched so I didn’t get to the end. I’m assuming that she (or her wife) never came back on to confirm anything?
  • @PenelopeSnuz77 @aprosch man these catfish stories are crazy!! .. Now time to find that old thread because who needs to be productive at work anyways?
  • @PenelopeSnuz77 wtfffffff who does that??!!

I almost passed out at a blood draw in December. My vasovagal nerve overreacts (vasovagal syncope), always from an intense stomachache that comes from nowhere. It's common, and you'll see that many people actually get it from the sight of blood (which I don't personally understand, but I also don't understand my unexplainable stomachaches that come from nowhere). The best thing to do is get your legs in the air, but lying down is a good option when that isn't possible. I've only passed out a handful of times in my life, but it's scary! I've learned to listen to my body when it's about to happen, so I like to think I'm better in control of it now? 🤷

I'm scared about when labor happens. I feel like I'm going to pass out!

@meagan-t other than the unknown aspect of labor, what are your fears? Maybe those of us that have been there can help?

@wintersong my BMB had a situation like that. All her personal info and that of her husband was blasted on here. Back then, each board had mods, and she had to get one of them to actually block her (the one who’s info was blasted) in order to get all the info deleted. It was really bad. It was late summer, maybe early fall, 2014 when that happened.

  • @cmbt2 Well, I know my passing out happens from stomachaches that literally come from nowhere and suddenly, and while I have no idea what to expect with labor, I'm expecting it to (maybe?) resemble a stomachache, among many, many other things. Maybe that's completely irrational, I don't know. I'm sure crazier things have happened!

  • cmbt2cmbt2 member
@meagan-t I don’t think it’s irrational. I would definitely bring it up to your OB early and often. They may have ideas on how to handle things when you get close to your due date! I’m going to bet you won’t be the first person with a similar issue!

i will say a stomachache is not a word I’d have used to describe contractions 🙈 mine were more like period cramps x100 on the pain scale and over my entire stomach 🤷🏼‍♀️

@meagan-t My vasovagal response definitely includes the sight of blood. I have on many occasions had to lie down on the floor after nicking myself shaving or chopping vegetables and have passed out for blood draws (even just one vial) a few times. Childbirth was terrifying to me for that reason, but with the epidural, I felt nothing and didn't have to look down to see the blood when my water broke. I also was given some morphine or other IV pain killer because my epi was leaking on the floor, and that made me feel WAY worse than the bleeding/etc. You are so amped up on hormones and adrenaline that everything is going to be different from your responses anyway. Obviously, still not irrational to be nervous about labor, especially if you labor at home for a while before going in, but like others said, talk to your OB and DH so that everyone can be prepared if you get woozy or faint.

please don't take offense to this, but i just LOL'ed pretty hard at comparing labor to a stomachache.

I think having anxiety about birth is super normal, especially as a FTM. I definitely had it my first go around, and yet here I am willingly doing it again, so maybe you can take comfort in that. It sucks, but then it ends and you get the world's best reward for your hard work.

  • I'm a sucker for good drama.  Thanks @PenelopeSnuz77 I'm not going to get any work done this afternoon!
  • I just spent way too much of my life reading that J14 thread... And it was worth every minute 😂
  • @longhairdntcare No offense taken! These stomachaches aren't even real stomachaches. Ha ha! I just have no better way to describe them. But I don't think labor will be like a stomachache at all. With my nerves, though, I'd be surprised if I didn't have a stomachache when the day comes. 😄

  • @PenelopeSnuz77 I remember that, there was also someone around that time that scammed their board of of a lot of money. I don't remember the exact story or month but I remember it happening. My group Dec14 wasn't catfished but after we moved to FB and our littles were about a year we came to find that one of our members have gathered a few thousands dollars from us by opening and ETSY shop for TULA supplies and then not delivering or refunding. No body said anything for a long time because they

@kindbytealikat I think the one you refer to was Nov’14? I definitely remember it going down before everything went south in January of 2015

ETA- and distinctly remember it being a BMB due before mine (Jan’15)

  • According to the J14 thread it was a May14 mod who stole money 😬

@kindbytealikat how did she get money from you all through etsy?! Like you all bought items and she didn't deliver?! That's terrible!
  • @nnaelilak sorry I was reading what I typed and it didn't all transcribe. So yes she opened an ETSY shop for TULA accessories and then ran into some financial hardships and never sent the stuff and didn't refund people. Nobody said anything within the group because we didn't want to our her because she had, had a bad year. But it came up during an intense discussion about something else and we came to find out that the majority of the board had purchased stuff and were never delivered or refunded. The admins of the board talked with people and she had around $3000 totaled owed to people. We threatened to sue her and she either refunded money or provided the promised product.

  • @kindbytealikat, oh my word, that's unbelievable that someone from your BMB didn't deliver her Etsy product after receiving payment. I'm betting Etsy has a pretty good policy about this and would probably remove her rights to sell and maybe even refund any customers who reached out, but STILL. As someone you all considered a friend, it must have felt like such a personal violation of trust and friendship.

Random mid-week confession: I get a little queasy getting blood drawn, and for some reason (no clue why), I was under the impression that the NIPT draw required like, an adult vampire's dinner sized contribution of blood. I'm legit doing a happy dance reading the NIPT posts saying it's only one or two vials. 🎉
I had five vials of blood drawn today and the phlebotomist, a sweet chatty younger lady, asked me how I was feeling. I filled her in on my symptoms, and it wasn't until she asked again around the last vial that I realized she meant am I getting queasy or light headed. Total face palm moment.

  • @steminist We are also having potty woes. I tried to potty train my 2.5 a couple weeks ago. It was a disaster. She began to fear the potty and wouldn’t sit on it, but she realized after one day that she now has to pee and poop. She wants us to change her after she pees and poops now, but won’t go near the potty. I’m hoping one day she just decides it’s time. She has to be potty trained by Sept. though. Ugh.

UGHHH, my 2.5yo would rather hide in the corner to poop and then stay in his dirty diaper than get treats for using the potty. I know it'll happen when he's ready, but I'm so tired of these big-kid poops. They stink! (pun fully intended)
We had a much easier time poop training than we did pee. DS1 was such a noisy pooper, that DH grabbed him and would plop him on the toilet mid poop. Anytime he did even a little in the toilet, we made it a giant deal, lots of clapping. took about a month, but he got it. It was another 9/10 months before he was ready to pee train

  • @grapeskittles4lyfe That's how DD was. We tried when she was like 21 months because she was acting very ready. She would just cry and cry and her mood throughout the day got so bad. So we stopped after like 3 days. 2 months later, we were stuck inside for 3 days during a hurricane and thought it'd be a good time. She did awesome! By the end of those few days she was 99% potty trained with peeing on the potty. Pooping took a lot longer. She liked to hold it in. That's a whole other story!
  • I found out last night that I have three family members getting married in October. Yikes! A nephew (23), a niece (28), and a cousin (29). All a week apart. Yowza.

They are all before my due date, but I have no idea how I'm gonna make it through that month. 😦
