Remember on this day of shock and debauchery that pleasure is defined not by shock value or level of debauchery, but that which brings you the utmost joy. And we all know what guilty means. ^_~*

p.s. PLEASE take some time to indulge today! Mardi Gras is the last day before the season of Lent, and it's here for us to experience intense and indulgent joy before sacrifice must come. So many of us on this journey participate in a lot of sacrifice, so please do something for yourselves on this holy Mardi Gras day!

Guilty pleasures - doing solo karaoke when DH isn't home - dance parties with the dog - soapy teen dramas (like Riverdale and all the high school movies on Netflix) - crappy food (such as mall Chinese...so bad, it's good) - wine and cheese - baked goods - fuzzy socks...

I'm sure there are more that I can't think of!

My guilty pleasures including reading advice columns, having tiramisu at every opportunity provided I'm not full, singing in my car, and I used to love watching the Maury show. Oh and scrolling through the choosing beggar, AITA, and entitled parent subs on Reddit have been great lately. I love hearing about other people's drama.

Love this !
singing and dancing in the car when alone. Ordering an insane amount of Sushi through skip the dishes when I have perfectly good food at home. Giving my pups an extra bone so they leave me alone for a solid hour. drinking more then the 1 can of Diet Pepsi a day that I try my damndest to stick too lol

Oh! Guilty pleasures... hmm! I love a good greasy burger, some fried mozzarella sticks, some general tsos with noodles, sushi with a ton of yum yum sauce, a good bloody mary or margarita and all of the wine!!! I've had time to think about this because of my diet and trying to figure out what my next treat meal will be! LOL

I also am way too invested in this Khloe Kardashian/Tristan/Jordyn drama and I can't stop LOL.

I "secretly" love teen literature. I also crazy binged a teen show from Australia called "Dance Academy." I could not stop! Oh! And I absolutely adore Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos, especially since partner hates it. It means I don't have to share!

Soap operas disguised as "period/historical dramas" ("The Tudors", "The Borgias", "Versailles", "Downton Abbey", "Victoria"), spicy Cheez-its, Bailey's Irish cream in my hot cocoa, and cute coffee mugs.

Ooh, this is a good one. Also, I may be picking up more guilty pleasures from everyone’s answers. 

Mine are bad sappy TV/movies, like the more obvious plot holes the better. I love all of the Netflix teen movies like @b_1029 said. Also, Teen Mom. I started watching it to feel better about my life and I’m so into the drama now. And the food: Whataburger, super greasy pizza, buffalo wings, and so much chocolate.

Spending time on TB when I should be working. Good wine and IPA's. People.com. Good makeup and skin care products. Roast beef sandwiches from my corner deli. Letting my dogs snuggle on the couch with me when MH isn't home (Great Danes and a leather couch = high damage risk).

Watching my trash reality tv like real housewives and kuwtk, sleeping as much as I want, drinking all the coffee with sweetened creamer (I miss that the most), and eating take out in my pjs. I also love turning on 80s music and rocking out to it anytime I can.

Oh man... So many.  Everything food (but most of all cheese and chocolate), wine (preferably with cheese/chocolate), true crime documentaries, Forensic Files, Bumping at work

@ruby696 I think I've probably seen every episode at this point, haha.  Between my sister and I staying up late at night watching it in high school and Netflix having it now, I must be close.  Google says there are 406 in total.

@shamrocandroll I've watched it for years randomly, but last year I started at episode 1 on Netflix. I have one season left to go. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty proud of that fact. MH jokes that I'm going to make us start over once we finish it. Um, yep, I probably will.

@shamrocandroll MH was pretty excited during the season that focused on a larger variety of types investigations, but otherwise is pretty "meh" about it. He usually reads in bed until it's over and I fall asleep.

Law & Order SVU marathons (DH hates it); songs by Everclear & Matchbox20 (I'm like embarrassed I know all the works but always crank it when they're on even though all their songs sound the same); all the sushi & whiskey cocktails; buffalo wings (guilty bc I don't eat meat on the reg.); I could eat an entire key lime pie; reality TV shows involving (often capitalist-driven) art like The Voice & World of Dance (which I llllovvvvveeee, less capitalist-driven, too, so slightly less guilt); anything that isn't working on my dissertation lol; YA books by like Rainbow Rowell and like all the series books (Eragon, HP, Twilight, etc....); All things Sailor Moon.....; those Chobani flips? (guilty bc of all the plastic trash they make & mostly they are like basically dessert.

p.s. I had a cupcake for breakfast & for lunch some seafood pasta that my friend's dad made and brought to where they were camped out for the parade, where I caught all the beads. Home now w/ the pups drinking my RLT ^_~*.

@shamrocandroll @brookert615 I have a bunch of friends who only like those cheese balls when they are slightly stale? IS THAT A THING? or are these friends weird? I don't love... things that leave sticky orange dust behind (I hate Doritos don't @ me), though I can get into a cheese ball or ten every now and then....

watching my reality tv shows like The Bachelor, Survivor, Married at First Sight, Rupaul's Drag Race. And then listening to podcast recaps of these episodes as well as going to reddit to see what people are saying. Indulging in a high quality face mask. Girl Scout Cookies - Thin Mints (but they have to be kept in the freezer). Getting drinks from Starbucks occasionally. The list goes on and on.

@kagesstarshroom:  im obsessed with crawfish. My college had crawfish boils for everything, our rehearsal dinner was a crawfish boil, and I go to at least a couple of boils every year!  I particularly loved when we lived in Houston, because a ton of bars offered all-you-can-eat crawfish. Seriously my favorite food. Also, try tossing whole garlic in too — of course don’t forget potatoes/corn/sausage!

@kagesstarshroom I think your friend is crazy! Anything crunchy covered in cheese whether or not it’s stale is irresistible 😂😂😂. I get the whole cheese on the fingers thing... the trick is to just open the bag and pour into your mouth! 😉

@dreamscapes_ Even though I created this thread, I do agree. I just read this article in Bitch magazine about how guilty pleasures are super feminized-- like, as women we are made to feel bad about things we like that are marketed to us like "chick lit," but dudes liking super "masculine" stuff is encourages and rewarded. I think we can't help, though, but see certain things we like as "guilty" because of the way popular culture has laid out that framework for us, regardless of if that is good for us/outer self perception or not, so good on you for trying to keep your pleasures as such minus any guilty society might try to forster in us for having pleasure as women. Don't even get me started in female orgasms being constructed in pop culture as vehicles for the male gaze rather than our own pleasure... Sigh. Anyway, I can get you that article if you are interested. They might have an online version! It was probably in the back of my mind when I was trying to link Mardi Gras to a GTKY since I jusstttt read it the other day. 

@lcking82 Yes yes and yesss. Too cool that you had a boil at your rehearsal dinner! Love it.  My school does a boil for Laginappe. (I love all these new "holidays" I had to learn living here...) and there is also a Crawfish Festival here! If you ever come thru Louisiana you have to let me knw. We have scoped out most of the nearby boil joints each at least once, and I can make an educated recommendation if you happen to be anywhere near where we live now. ^_^*

@kagesstarshroom Oh, I know. I get a lot of flack from some people for enjoying things that aren't "womanly", like heavy metal and horror movies. I don't understand why some people feel the need to make others feel like the things they enjoy are less than worthy of enjoyment. If you can find that article, I'd definitely give it a read

@inthewoods23 I had a conversation with one of my coworkers today about it because she was singing to herself between calls and she said it was a rap song. I didn't recognize the singer and she was wondering why, and I'm like "I listen mainly to heavy metal", and she started laughing and said she didn't understand why I listened to screaming music, lol. Funnily enough, my heavily religious in-laws don't seem to mind (as far as I can tell).
