Re: Group 1 (Sept 1-7) Weekly Check in- 1/21

  • Est DD: 7 wk 3 days (9/7)

Baby is the size of a blueberry

Upcoming Appointments: Next Monday! 1/28, ultrasound and first visit

How are you feeling? Very meh. I posted last Monday that I was fairly asymptomatic and a bit anxious about it and I've learned to be careful what I ask for. Literally several hours later I felt almost like I had the flu, headache, nausea, extreme exhaustion, and those feelings continue to come and go. I'm also STARVING 24/7 and if I don't eat every 3-4 hours, I'm puking or dry heaving.

Rants/Raves: Thanks everyone for opining about Subway last week. I had a BMT and it was awesome. Rant- the weather sucks right now.

    Questions: none

GTKY: Most stupid way I've injured myself- I had no real concept of what black ice was when I first moved to the North East, so after a storm I got all dressed up to go outside and enjoy the snow. My first step out of the door on the front porch I slipped on ice and fell down the stairs. I was much less excited about the snow and winter in general, and that sentiment has remained the same now 6 years later.

  • Est Due Date/ Weeks + Days: 9/6

Baby is the size of a(n): blueberry

Upcoming Appointments: 1/30 first OB appt

How are you feeling?: Nausea and exhaustion are the main things, and I feel so much less productive than usual.

Rants/Raves: We got hamburgers for lunch yesterday and they tasted amazing to me! I'm having trouble meal planning, though, because I'm very opinionated moment to moment about what I do and don't want to eat.

    Questions: not at the moment

GTKY: What's the dumbest way you've ever injured yourself? The time my foot fell asleep and I tried to walk across a room at a good clip anyway and sprained my ankle.

  • Est Due Date/ Weeks + Days: 09/21 7w5d

Baby is the size of a(n): Blueberry

Upcoming Appointments: Blood Sugar specialist update 01/24

How are you feeling?: Nauseous, emotional

Rants/Raves: I've been struggling with the fact that where I live, they typically don't do an ultrasound until the 12th week, so I had to fight tooth and nail to get the one I had today. I've also been feeling like a failure trying to keep my blood sugar low, changing my diet and not being able to satisfy those cravings that are nagging at me.

    Questions: None yet.

GTKY: What's the dumbest way you've ever injured yourself? I once missed a step going down some stairs. Ended up breaking my tailbone. Not a fun bone to break as you just have to let it heal.

  • Est Due Date/ Weeks + Days: Sept 1st / 8 weeks 2 days

Baby is the size of a(n): Grape 😊

Upcoming Appointments: First appt on Thursday!

How are you feeling?: Tired, gassy, & sore. Some sciatica this week. Aversions everywhere

Rants/Raves: We told the parents this weekend to have their support through the next 4 weeks! It went way better than I expected. We plan on slowly telling extended family & posting on social media after Valentine’s Day (aka after 12 weeks).

Questions: I’m wondering if I should expect an ultrasound this week? I’ve seen mixed options on that. I just would like to know baby is doing great, & I’ll be satisfied.

GTKY: What's the dumbest way you've ever injured yourself? : I pulled a muscle in my armpit my freshman year. I was doing Colorguard & I literally couldn’t raise my arm the rest of the season & it swelled up like a giant bump. I had to wear sweatshirts lol

  • Est Due Date/ Weeks + Days: 7w5d

Baby is the size of a(n): headphone earbud

Upcoming Appointments: tomorrow, I'm going between complete fear and some excitement, but mostly terrified

How are you feeling?: on edge, I have had some brief moments of nausea but nothing more. Boobs feel fuller and feel bloated and starving!

Rants/Raves: My oldest got in bed with us last night and I slept terribly

    Questions: Nope

GTKY: What's the dumbest way you've ever injured yourself? I was being stupid and was trying to karate kick someone (playfully not violently) and kicked my china cabinet and broke some toes

bostonlady-2 Hope you're feeling better and Monday will be here before you know it!

ternsetc Great now I want a hamburger lol. Add me to the unproductive list too.

lilyclover Glad you got your early u/s. I don't know if I missed this before but are you diabetic?

dancinpelicans Good luck at your appt this week and congrats on sharing the news. I don't know when we plan to say anything, right now only DH and I know.

  • @supermom34482 I was never diagnosed prior to being pregnant. Though as soon as we found out we were I was sent for bloodwork which came back as high (8 while fasting). I am overweight, have struggled with my weight despite eating right and exercise all my adult life. I also have slow acting thyroid. Right now I'm just trying to follow this Gestational Diabetes diet and monitor my blood sugar, but I still feel hungry afterwards. Despite being allowed to eat all the veggies/protein I want. Not that I am not eating, just this nausea is having me turn my nose up at everything. I'll see what the specialist says on Thursday.
  • Est Due Date/ Weeks + Days: 9/5

Baby is the size of a(n): blueberry

    Upcoming Appointments: 1/28 so close!

How are you feeling?: Up until today I was feeling great but after my workout this morning I felt so nauseous!  Wasn't sure if I went to hard, needed food, or just morning sickness finally getting me.  Had some pb and felt better, hopefully this is not an everyday thing!

Rants/Raves:  Always hungry, always need to pee, and insanely tired!

Questions: Anyone else that doesn't really have symptoms take multiple pregnancy tests even after you've already gotten positive ones weeks ago??  We're planning on telling my family this weekend but I haven't had my u/s yet so I just feel like I have to keep making sure I'm pregnant!  Sounds crazy saying it out loud!

GTKY: What's the dumbest way you've ever injured yourself?  Pretending to be hurt to see if my dog would help me and then getting head butted in the nose by dog 🤦🏼‍♀️

  • @jeepwave I took four initially. I was convinced that the first one was a fluke and the other three confirmed it for both myself and the fiance. That was right before Christmas. I ended up getting a couple more just last week after an anxiety attack because a lot of symptoms I had before just suddenly vanished. I wasn't nauseous, I wasn't tired and I was just feeling great. I just needed to confirm it again since the doctor's in my area don't confirm pregnancy with blood tests anymore.

Side note, the symptoms are all back this week and returned with a vengeance.
  • Thanks @lilyclover that makes me feel better!  It is just so hard to believe when I don't have the symptoms and don't look any different yet!
  • @jeepwave It was getting difficult to believe that I was and was beating myself up quite a bit everytime my blood sugar tested "high". Despite the multiple positives, it didn't sink in until I saw the wee nugget.
  • @supermom34482 how was the ultrasound today?

@lilyclover and @jeepwave I also took multiple tests to watch the line get darker. TTC and being pregnant brings out my crazy.

@lilyclover I'm so sorry about the blood sugars! I'm also starving all the time and I try and eat veggies and they don't really help. I feel you.

@dancinpelicans Do you have an US scheduled? At the office I go to, they don't do them in house, so they're scheduled elsewhere (which is how I know I have one). If you want one and it's not scheduled will your provider schedule it for piece of mind?
  • @bostonlady-2 got home from u/s, theres a baby with a good heartbeat but I'm measuring a week behind and dr said I have something weird looking. Like an area of uterus is not smooth. I go back next week to see more detailed scan. I'm completely freaking out,  when I measured behind last time I lost that baby. I just want to cry. Dr could see me freaking out and assured me everything looks good but it's hard to believe it when I've heard that before and it still ended badly. Sorry to be such a downer, I don't know how I'm going to get thru the next week.
  • @supermom34482 I am in the same boat with hearing a heartbeat but measuring a week behind. It really is terrifying and so hard to not think the worst. I will be thinking of you and hoping for the best outcome for both of us <3

  • Est Due Date/ Weeks + Days: 9/4, 8 weeks today

Baby is the size of a(n): Raspberry

    Upcoming Appointments: 2/4

How are you feeling?: Pretty much the same, crazy sore boobs, not a ton of nausea and stupid tired

    Rants/Raves: It’s so cold where I live, I should be a southerner 😭😭😭

    Questions: nothing this week

GTKY: What's the dumbest way you've ever injured yourself? I opened a pack of construction paper with a pencil when I was younger...and I did it with the pencil facing towards me 🤦‍♀️ That sucker landed itself right in the middle of my forehead but I suppose it was deserved.

@supermom34482 - lots of prayers going up for you and your LO, I hope all turns out well 🙏🏻

  •  @supermom34482 that sounds like a terribly difficult wait - wishing all the best for the next scan and sending good thoughts your way.
  • @supermom34482 Thoughts are with you. I hope the wait doesn't feel too long and that you find out that everything is A-ok!

    Est Due Date/ Weeks + Days: 9/5 8w

Baby is the size of a(n): Raspberry (mmmm)

    Upcoming Appointments: 2/20 (*only* 27 more days, :s )

How are you feeling?: Emotional, nauseous, bloated and impatient (my husband must really love me)

Rants/Raves: This week my mood has officially gone haywire, I cried over: 1. the fact that I didn't want breakfast tacos on Saturday 2. GoT episode Hold The Door even though I've seen it's 9,000 times 3. the soundtrack to Hamilton "because it's just so good." It's all kind of funny because I'm a pretty unemotional person and rarely ever cry.

Questions: I think I've finally decided that we won't tell any other people until my 12-week NIPT. We've already told our immediate families and my very best friends (I can't keep a secrets and I would need their emotional support if there was a complication any way); how is everybody else coping holding in the news? Also, is anybody else having oddly specific food cravings?

GTKY: What's the dumbest way you've ever injured yourself? Oh god, I couldn't even list - I am super uncoordinated and have hurt myself in sooooo many dumb ways but I guess a funny one is about 2 weeks before our wedding, my husband and I were about to get intimate and he accidentally dropped me on my head resulting in a nice concussion. Had fun explaining that one to my doctor!

  • @laurenmicheley the food opinions I have currently are all over the place and incredible - if I think of something that sounds great to eat I want to accept no substitutes, and can get really bummed about eating a perfectly nice dinner that sounded OK to me a few hours before. As to sharing the news, it's so hard to decide when to tell! We've told some of our immediate family and our closest friends who knew we were trying. I'm thinking we'll tell the rest of the immediate family after my appointment next week, and anyone else when we get in the 2nd trimester/after the NIPT. It's taking a lot more effort to hold back the news this time for some reason. With DS there were a lot of people I don't regularly talk to (family and old friends) who I didn't get around to telling until he was some months old. That was a little awkward - I'm going to try and avoid leaving it that long again!
  • @supermom83  and @zuuls_mom  Ugh, I'm so sorry about the stress and uncertainly. I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of you.
