@kbirchtree I think it's called stockinet in English (just trying to translate online). It's soft and stretchy, so for making clothes/blankets or such. I'll probably start with trying to make little hats and burp scarves and stuffed bottle holders because I've never sown baby clothes before.
So, Stockinet is a type of knit (smoother on one side and pearl or bumpier in the other ) that’s my favorite and what I’ve been using. Sometimes referred to as Jersey.
In sewing terms we’d call it a knit fabric, if it’s stockinet, interlock is the knit on both sides but not ribbed. Garter is the bumpy/pearl on both sides. Rarely sold as fabric for sewing though.
If I ever went to Europe I’d bring a bag empty just to bring home pretty fabrics in.
Woven- used more for quilting, or skirts or button up tops. Usually no stretch.
If that’s annoying to read, my apologies. I love fabric.
@kbirchtree haha thanks for the guide to the wonderful world of fabrics In swedish we just call this fabric "trikå" which could maybe also be translated to tricot? Jersey is definitely not as smooth as this one, because it's not ribbed or bumpy in any way. I would say it's equally smooth on both sides. It gets confusing translating sometimes though, and things easily get mixed up... last weekend DH tried to translate the Swedish word for ice rink, and got the google translation: "ice banana" lol
My only crafty project so far for this little one... I have a similar woodburned one that I made for DS1 still hanging at my parents house, have to retrieve that at some point.
Hubs finally finished dd new bed so working on getting her room well in order. I need to make a ton of pants for baby and several pairs of summer Capri leggings for dd (she doesn’t love shorts) over the next couple weeks... so pics to come for those.
