Due date: appointments/questions: rant/rave: how you’re feeling: gtky: have you talked with SO about if you’ll have any more kids? How has this pregnancy changed that discussion?
appointments/questions: had to reschedule my growth scan because DD was sick/teething yesterday and it was heart wrenching to try and leave her. Otherwise, shots.
rant/rave: still pregnant! Can’t believe there’s an eggplant sized baby in there.
also, DH has been super sweet and I feel like has finally recognized some pregnancy limitations (like that if I ask for help getting off the floor, he can’t pull me off balance) and that cravings are a thing (thanks for the spicy ramen last night!).
How you’re feeling: It’s definitely getting harder to sleep through the night, between finding good belly support positions and having to pee. Otherwise, pretty good!
gtky: have you talked with SO about if you’ll have any more kids? How has this pregnancy changed that discussion?
at this point, we’re pretty sold on a third and a fourth (if nature cooperates and God intends). DH goes a little back and forth on it because of financial and space pressures, but that should be sorted in the next year, and DD has totally charmed him into wanting more. I think the combo of newborn and toddler tantrums may stress him out but we’ll be in a good routine by the time this LO is 1 and ready to TTC again.
appointments/questions: Have an appointment next week, where I'll have my glucose screening. Slightly nervous about it, see below. Does anyone else have weird eardrum symptoms? I have what sounds like someone tapping their fingers on a desk waiting for something every few seconds. It's muddled, and read that it could be related to exercise (which I did last night), pregnancy, and/or general increased blood flow...so weird
rant/rave: Found out yesterday that my mom probably had GD when she was pregnant with me, given that standards were lower (sugar level thresholds were higher) back in the day, so it makes me more nervous about my results
how you’re feeling: Other than nervous and the weird eardrum symptom, great! Just a little tired, since I'm just getting back to work this week after the holidays
gtky: have you talked with SO about if you’ll have any more kids? How has this pregnancy changed that discussion? Since this is our first and we haven't had any major complications or anything (fingers crossed), I think we'll want at least another. Ask me when I'm sleep deprived in about June.
Due date: April 7th appointments/questions: Starting every 2 week appointments next week! Eek! rant/rave: Still not sleeping well... at least I’ll be ready for a newborn. how you’re feeling: Tired, sore, and over it! gtky: have you talked with SO about if you’ll have any more kids? How has this pregnancy changed that discussion? We have, we’re both still on the fence about more. I have 3 dd’s from a previous marriage so this lo is my 4th. But, it’s a boy and my fiancé’s first biological child. My cut off is 30 which is in 3 years. I had my first at 19 almost 20 so don’t want a bigger age gap than 10 years. So basically, the verdict is still out! Yes, no, maybe!
appointments/questions: I have my next appointment on the 15th. I passed my GD screening thank goodness. No questions really - other than how the hell am I going to juggle two?!?
rant/rave: feeling pretty good overall but I hate how long cold linger when you're pregnant. I feel like I've had a cold FOREVER.
how you’re feeling: Overall good. Some siatica pain. Some circulation issues but compression socks help. Snissing is annoying 😂 - my first pregnancy was a million times harder than this one so I can't really complain. I'm already enormous though and not sure what to expect from the 3rd tri...
gtky: have you with SO about if you’ll have any more kids? How has this pregnancy changed that discussion? We're definitely done after this one. I'm having my tubes removed during my csection because of some cancer risks that I have. I'm ok with that though. I've toyed with the idea of.more than two but I'm really ok with stopping there.
@lyse01 I've been meaning to ask you- as you finish out this pregnancy going farther than your last, do you feel like you're walking into the new & unknown, as far as symptoms and experiences go? Like how it felt with the first half of your first pregnancy, not knowing what pregnancy would be like for you as an individual. I enjoy my husband helping me with things like getting off the floor, the couch, or pushing me up off the bed (in a helpful way). Mine doesn't think he's actually helping me, but I swear I am straining when I don't have his help!
@aggie0812 No ear symptoms here. That's one I haven't heard of yet.
@berky84 Hey Berky, welcome! Before sharing, I want to point out that I don't doubt the seriousness of your feeling enourmous. As a one-off, I wanted to share that this past weekend I was at a friend's baby shower who is due on Valentine's Day. She said she is larger this time around already than she was when she had her first child and she feels really big. One of the games we played was guess the circumference of her bump. At the end of the game, I compared her measurement to my bump and we are the same size around! She's gotta be like a foot taller than me, so I guess it makes sense, but I felt shocked that at 27/28 weeks I was the same size around as my friend who is due in just a few weeks! I don't think I'm that big personally, but someone had said to my husband last week that I'm huge and he wasnt sure how I would make it to full term. Anyways, I think bumps are gorgeous and I'm sure you are too, even when you feel really big and awkward!
Poptart is due 4.2
appointments/questions: 28 week appointment on Friday. According to research, our babies have a sleep and wake cycle now. Is anyone noticing a pattern with their little one? My daughter is pretty consistently active at 5am. She wakes me up. Last night it was 2am though, so idk. I haven't noticed enough of a pattern during the day.
rave: DH is doing a great job working on our house after work.
how you’re feeling: tired in the morning after I get up for the day, having a hard time staying awake at work, barely sleeping through the night sometimes, and really annoyed with the pelvic pain I've been experiencing lately. Also considering getting a wrist brace but I don't want to buy one to only use it for a few short months.
gtky: have you talked with SO about if you’ll have any more kids? How has this pregnancy changed that discussion? This pregnancy hasn't changed the answer, but DH wants 5 while I feel like 3 is my limit, so I secretly hope that he will reconsider once he is actually a dad (FTM here). He knows that I would prefer 3, but we just don't have the real experience yet to say whether we could handle more than a few kids, should have less than even 3 kids, or if spacing would make his ideal considerable. DH is 1 of 4, and they were all homeschooled (I don't think my husband recognizes how hard his mother probably worked), and I am 1 of 5, although I grew up with only one of my siblings (Mom and Dad split).
@aggie0812 yes—usually my ear just feels like it’s full of fluid randomly, for several minutes at a time and I can’t hear well from it and I can feel my heartbeat in it. Haha. Just increased blood flow. I had it worse with DD. It is super weird.
@aggie0812 nope to the ear symptoms but I hope you find relief!
@kyashley1227 I wonder if the extra appointments cover anything more that the monthly ones did!
@berky84 I wonder the same thing on days like today where I basically took a nap when DD was supposed to and hoped she would eventually join me. (DH played with her in the meantime.) Two under two? Yikes. It’s a good thing DD knows how to be helpful.
@mighty_montgomery I definitely feel like I’m in uncharted territory. I’m not sure just how hard it will get, and the whole nesting thing was replaced by panic last time, so I’m interested to see if that develops. I also am interested in seeing if childbirth education is useful (so far, not really) and if having a hospital bag and such makes things easier (last time I only had my wallet and phone, not even a change of clothes or charger). I think I’ll be surprised by more as we continue forward, but it’s going to be weird things.
@lyse01 yes, sleeping through the night is no longer a thing. I think maybe this time next year I'll be able to again. How old is your DD? My kids will be 3.5 years apart. I'm always curious how different it is for different stages.
@aggie0812 I would say your ear symptoms is a blood flow thing, but I'd ask your doctor about it just in case. Also, don't stress about the glucose test even if your mom is positive. Either way, the doctors will work with you to make sure you have a good pregnancy.
@mighty_montgomery he might reconsider the 5 in the first few months with a newborn lol
Due date: 4/5 appointments/questions: just had my glucose test, dtap booster, and rhogam shot today. I was at the office for 2 hours! The redeeming part was hearing the heartbeat. rant/rave: I'm over not sleeping well. I don't do well not sleeping and I know that about myself. I know it'll get worse once baby is here but it is what it is. I also found out today I get 6 weeks short term disability and not 12 like our benefits booklet said and I feel upset about that. how you’re feeling: feeling the pressure to start getting the nursery and items ready is pressing in on me. I want to feel settled and ready by mid february so I can spend those last weeks resting. gtky: have you talked with SO about if you’ll have any more kids? How has this pregnancy changed that discussion? DH says he's done, we will have a girl and a boy. I'm still on the fence, some days I'm like we are done and other days I want one more.
Appointments/questions: Regular checkup and a chiropractic appt on Thursday. So excited for the chiro.
rant/rave: Got a new job!
how you’re feeling: Sore and not sleeping well. Right now I spend all my time being stressed about how logistics will work when Dos arrives. 2 drop offs, 2 pickups, 2 jobs, 2 kids. I'm hoping once we find a daycare (not looking good right now) and some of the plans are in place I will remember that there are parts I'm looking forward to. Good thing I can feel baby feet when I press on my stomach.
gtky: have you talked with SO about if you’ll have any more kids? How has this pregnancy changed that discussion?
We are definitely done after this one. DS is going to be 6.5 years older than Dos and most people we know were shocked that we are having a second. In some ways, I'm shocked we're having a second.
appointments/questions: Did my Diabetes screening today so should get results soon.
rant/rave: 7.5 weeks till mat leave starts! I’m so tired of Jr High drama (kids and staff)!
how you’re feeling: It’s official. I don’t really like being pregnant.
gtky: have you talked with SO about if you’ll have any more kids? How has this pregnancy changed that discussion? I’m already 38 so a big family is most likely not in the cards for us, but we would like our LO to have a sibling, so we’re planning on trying again as soon as we can.
@aggie0812 can you keep us updated if it comes back?
Personal update: DH's car will hopefully be fixed next week. He doesn't think the issue they want to fix is the reason it isn't starting, so he expects this is repair 1 of many and is skeptical if they really know what they're doing. DH normally fixes our cars himself and doesn't see a correlation between what they want to replace and the car not starting, but we're going to give it a shot anyway and hope it works. I have to accept that if we only have my vehicle available to use when baby gets here, everything will be okay.
Due date: April 2 appointments/questions: I have been MIA from this site, the holidays and travel took me away... now I can't believe we are in the final trimester! 12 weeks sounds like so little... rant/rave: Started a childbirth class this week, there were 8 couples participating and in the first class we already learned effective ways to manage pain or discomfort. The facilitator had us hold ice cubes for a minute, first just holding them (and focusing on the discomfort), then while focusing on our breath (way better) and lastly while slow dancing to Otis Redding with our partner. It was pretty amazing how much easier it was to get through the minute while doing that! Felt pretty encouraging. how you’re feeling: Feeling pretty good physically... I found my fitbit before xmas and am quite goal oriented, so I have been good at getting to10K steps each day. Wishing I was doing better at prioritizing getting to a prenatal yoga class. I get some lower back pain and some light cramping sensations while walking. And belly def getting a lot bigger! gtky: have you talked with SO about if you’ll have any more kids? How has this pregnancy changed that discussion? I have a 14 y.o. son from my first marriage. My new husband doesn't have his own kids and was an only child, and he went from feeling sure he wanted just one, to now making comments all over the place about our next baby... I think he likes me being pregnant better than he thought he would, and has gotten more excited by the month about the little baby coming. I am less sure. Its hard career wise to have to take time off, and even though my work colleagues are supportive, there are real costs to being out for several months in a row. Although I expect that the natural flood of oxytocin when baby arrives will make me want another one... I'm now 39 so don't have a ton of extra time, so if we do have another will need to be pretty quickly after this one.
