Positivity in 2019 - January

We’ve all been together for months, and of course this board will always be a place to vent and share in the struggle of pregnancy and life in general. However, I thought it would be nice to have a thread dedicated to the goodness in life. I’ve been struggling with positivity the last few months, and I’m trying to find the joy in every day, even if it’s something small. Hopefully we can do this together! 
Feel free to share big, exciting news as well as little things that make you happy! 

ETA: this thread seems popular, so I’m going to try making it a monthly thing!

My positive of the day: my mom bought me chicken noodle soup since she knew I’ve been sick, and I was stopping by her house to pick up some stuff. The soup was SO good. The noodles were homemade and delicious!

I love this idea!!! 

My positive is that I did so much better, emotionally, today than I had expected. Today was my first day without DH for the next 6 weeks so I was super worried, but I feel like I'm handling things really well!!

I really like this idea, too! 
My positive is that I have a safe and stable home to bring my baby home to. I've also recently struggled to stay positive and have really been focusing on telling myself that we have 'enough'. In fact, this weekend I've decided to focus on decluttering and actually getting rid of clothes and other households items we just don't need. I love the idea of preparing for baby's arrival by getting rid of clutter, while adding all the new baby stuff!

My positive is that I’m booking our babymoon, and I’m excited that we actually get to do it. We couldn’t afford it with DD, and I think we need it now more than ever. It’s nothing fancy or even somewhere warm. Haha. But it’s new and fun, and I think the time away will be so good. Even though the longest I’ve been away from DD is 30 hours. It’ll be worth it.

@sunny_native14 getting rid of stuff is sooooo freeing. Me and DH are planning on doing the same! I was starting to get frustrated that we hadn’t done much decluttering yet, but I set a goal that we finish by Valentine’s Day. Hoping to beat that goal by a few weeks! 

@HGRich that’s awesome! I really don’t think babymoons need to be elaborate or fancy, we are going on ours next week to a city just a few hours away and I’m so excited for it.

We are getting things in order around the house and a dear friend spends most Tuesday evenings with us (hubs is gone two tuesday evenings a month) and it’s so nice to have that comradeship.

I’m just gonna love everything on this thread.

Positives:
- this LO is already older than DD was when she was born, and the outcomes for survival are increasing and major/minor disability are decreasing every day. It’s such a relief to think of that when I have scary cramps (BH contractions, maybe?).

- I’m excited to be getting back into a healthy routine for myself: time spent learning foreign languages to stimulate my intellect (Duolingo helps me do that without a class), reading to DD, keeping on top of chores around the house and doing some deep cleaning task every day (today’s goal: clean the ceiling fans), dealing with things I like to avoid (like all bills), unpacking and sorting and disposing of unnecessary things, taking care of FIL when he’s here, mostly making it to church, creating delicious food on a budget for us, and getting set up to work again. 2017/8 had a lot of unbalanced, unhealthy time so stability is good for me.

I have been doing a better job at keeping the house clean during my pregnancy. Pre-pregnancy, and especially during our fertility medication rounds, I hardly cleaned my home. With the happiness of our child coming, I've done better with keeping the house clean. I feel good about myself when the house is clean.

I feel good about my house projects right now. I have the nursery basics set up and my fabric came yesterday to make my quilt!

Similar to @mighty_montgomery, H and I have been really on top of keeping the house clean and "guest ready" all the time.  It's such a great feeling to be able to sit and relax after dinner and not have chores looming over your head!  I feel so much calmer and happier!

I'm feeling positive about my health today.  I have been off and on sick for 3 weeks, and today I feel a just the slightest bit better and I'll take it.

My positive for the week: DS played with his new wooden castle blocks (which are super cool, btw, FAO Shwartz brand I believe) for like an hour last night and was so excited to show us his creations.

Also, I've been throwing myself into doing small organizational things to try to declutter from Christmas and make the house work better for us.  I definitely am feeling that nesting urge already!

I had a lot of anxiety at the end of the year. And it was surprising because It’s not usually something I have a lot of or in lengthy amounts of time. When the holidays ended, so did most of my anxiety. I realized that I’m trying to make myself be cheerful/engaged/less grinch like and it was just making me feel worse. Thankfully I talked to DH and we decided that we are not doing that again. I am not hosting/going all out/putting lots of effort into it if it puts me in that state. It’s not worth it to anyone for me to be such a wreck. If doing a very calm and chill type thing is better for me then he 100% prefers that. He’s already stated that he will take on more next year if we do want to do anything or if he wants certain things. That’s it’s not fair that I handle most of the planning and execution. 

And i already feel better about things for this year. United fronts are so much easier to weather storms with.

I just realized I'm two months away to celebrating three years of sobriety! Also four more weeks of work and I get to spend much needed quality time with my 19 month old daughter before baby boy is born and declutter my house too.

So, I’m feeling really good about the first week of 2019. DH and I have harnessed technology to a) limit screen time for our favorite rabbit holes/vices, and b) gameify some of our daily tasks/goals (Habitica is the app we’re using). We’re feeling like the house is cleaner, like we’re attacking things we’d prefer to procrastinate on, and like we’re finding time to do things we value, like go on family walks. High five, us.

I was actually a little sad to see the in-laws go for the first time ever! I was really trying to focus on the positive in their visit, and was able to see how sweet they were being in lots of ways little and big. They also bought me a surprise post-Christmas vacuum because they thought mine was too heavy for me to lift, even though they don't really have any money right now.

DD has been in a great mood lately and is rocking potty training. 

The basement will be finished within a month and then I can finally nest!

I love that I’ve started decluttering certain areas of our home that need it (aka toys and getting rid of girl clothes). 

I’m just happy for a new year!

My positive for the day: still thinking about the 3 mile hike I went on yesterday with my 2 year old son and just remembering how happy he was and feeling blessed that he wanted to hold my hand for the last 2 miles of the hike. 3 miles in 3 hours, I’ll take it being pregnant and going the pace of a toddler 😊❤️

DH finally got the call today that he’ll be starting a new job at the end of the month!!! It’s a huge relief to both of us and he is so excited to leave a job that has been making him cranky lately. So tonight we are celebrating!

My husband started this new diet plan last week, and the whole premise is you're essentially just eating tons of really healthy food that you make yourself based on a rough meal plan a dietician draws up for you. He's been doing really well with it, and is in such a great mood and has so much energy! I've not been sticking to his meal plan per se (I feel like 27 weeks pregnant is a hard time to start a "diet"), but I've been eating a lot of the same meals he's eating just for convenience. Its awesome, we both feel really great, and are actually motivated to get the house ready for the baby. We've been getting up early every morning to have breakfast together too, and the extra time with him is awesome! (Not to mention, the healthy food before work is totally making me more productive!)

We put down a deposit for a new apartment finally! I’m really excited about it: it’s a nice newly redone unit with more space for baby and visitors; quieter street, safe area; just a few blocks from the hospital where I’m planning to give birth.
Also, taking off today for some days in Hawaii where my partner is going to work and I’m going to eat malasadas (and some pokē 😈)

After a crappy and anxiety filled week last week, I'm on vacation from work this week. Spending my time with daughter, decluttering, cleaning and working on her new room. Thurs we go to Disneyland

I’m happy DH and I had a great trip. Aside from a brief argument over my lack of sleep, everything went smoothly. We ate delicious food all week and the weather was beautiful! Perfect little way to cap off our pre-baby adventures.

I organized a cabinet in the kitchen so we will have free space for baby bottles/paraphernalia, and DS is probably going for a sleepover with the grandparents tomorrow night so *maybe* DH and I can have some sexy time (it's been too long, haha).

@kangstadt I’ve definitely been feeling the nesting urge too. With my first two I never felt it. I made a huge list, room by room, of what I want to clean and declutter. I’ve already done both the kids closets and dressers and the shoes in the mud room.

@blueberrymomma, that's awesome!  My problem is I try, and then I get too tired to tackle the really big projects, haha.  I'm hoping we can get a major part of the nursery work done next weekend when my DH has four days off in a row.
