GTKY POLL: Are you a dog person or a cat person?

After my UO today about dogs being way better than cats, I thought would poll the group about their personal pet preferences.

    Love dogs! But cats are more realistic for me as a pet owner.

    I think if I didn't like cats I would definitely be an "ew why would I live with an animal" person

    I don’t ever want a pet, but I definitely would pick a cat over a dog.

    @expandcontract That is hilarious!!

    I am allergic to cats and think they are freaky. I’m absolutely a dog person!

    @minnemiska my husband is super allergic to cats as well, so that basically ensures that we will never own a pet, or at least not a big one. Maybe I’ll let my kids get a hamster or
    something someday.

    I am allergic to cats and think they smell bad. Like you can walk into someone's home for the first time and you know they have cats without even seeing them. I've meet like, 2 cats in my lifetime that were actually friendly and cute, but otherwise they always seem to be hiding.

    I will say though that as much as I love dogs, I wish they were a little more self sufficient like cats are. The late-night winter walks really, really suck.

    I have asked my friends before and my house doesn't smell like cat. I think that only happens if you have way too many cats and don't clean. I've never noticed anything like that before. My cat ends up smelling like our house, not the other way around - like if I light a candle, his fur starts to smell like apple cider or whatever 😂 The wet dog smell though 🤢 I really don't mind dogs as long as they don't touch me. I don't want to pet and I 10000000% do not want to be licked or jumped on. They are okay from a distance. I know people feel similarly about my cat and that's fine 🤷

    I love other people's animals. Any of them, really. I get into moods where I want a kitten or puppy, but then I remember they turn into cats and dogs. I never wanted a pet again until we found a dog in our yard when I was going through a hard time. We had to give her back, but by the next weekend we had our own dog. She stinks and she eats my underwear (or pants, whatever she can find), but she is most definitely an emotional support animal. She can tell when I feel like crap and is all about the cuddles.
