Re: Week 3 Check in 12/26

  • Due Date: 3/17

    Questions?: none right now

Rants/Raves?: Raving because the last two weeks of the year are always my favorite. off days and lots of time with family. I'm looking forward to NYE and being able to chill in the house with my SO and DS.

How are you feeling?: starting to get the 3rd trimester uncomfort. i just hit it Sunday and i already feel bigger and its harder to get out of bed at night. i go to sleep on my side and tend to wake up on my back and it really hurts trying to roll over to the side at that point. my joints must be really out of wack. i enjoy how busy baby is, altho last night was the first night she tried to keep me up with the acrobatics. she was going nuts in there.

GTKY: What do you plan on doing to bring in the New Year this year? I normally do a vision board, and still making my mind up on that, i might spend the night making something for the nursery...but just looking forward to watching tv and staying up with my kiddo and SO. I'm buying lots of sparkling grape juice and cider so we can pop bottles at midnight together for once LOL. might splurge on some crab legs to cook and enjoy while we veg out.
  • @zionsmama85 thanks for starting this week.
Due Date: 3/20, 28weeks and officially 3rd Tri!

Questions?: All sorts of questions for my midwife and MFM doc when I get to their office. Mostly GD related.

Rants/Raves?: It’s been nice being home but trying to eat right without having any blood sugar data to work with has been frustrating. I’m constantly eating but none of the stuff I’m allowing myself to eat are satisfying my hunger. Everything I read says everyone’s tolerance of carbs is different and to check your sugars to see how different carbs affect you, but I don’t have a meter yet. I’ve been having a bit of a pity party and feeling like I’m hurting my baby whenever I have even a little bit of something remotely sugary or carby. It’s kind of out a damper on my holidays.

How are you feeling?: Physically fine. We haven’t done a whole lot so I’ve been relaxing with my feet up and using being pregnant to get myself the comfiest chair.

GTKY: What do you plan on doing to bring in the New Year this year? We’ll have a bunch of friends and family visiting in Palm Spring. No specific plans yet, but my in-laws will be watching DD1 while we go out.

  • Due Date: March 17

    Questions?: None at the moment.

Rants/Raves?: We had a nice Christmas, even though I have been fighting what I thought was a bad cold but is actually a sinus infection. I've been sick for 10 days and I'm way over it. I just started antibiotics today so I'm hoping it starts to clear up. I really want to take the rest of the week off so I can rest up and get well but I don't want to use the leave days now and have two more unpaid days on maternity leave. Sucks that this is how moms to be have to make decisions. I do have some raves DS loved his new toys - he got a hand me down train table from my parents (I think it may have been my little brother's?) and we got him a new train set to go with it. He was in heaven.

How are you feeling?: See above - not great. Head congestion, cough, sore throat. Pregnancy wise nothing in particular is bothering me, though I've had a couple little bouts of heartburn here and there. I think it started to ramp up around this time with DS so it's not entirely unexpected, and with him it was worse when I was eating junky food. With the holidays there's been a lot of sugar around, so I'll focus on cleaning up the diet and hope that helps.

GTKY: What do you plan on doing to bring in the New Year this year? We have no plans, and neither of us has the day off so it will probably be something low key. I used to take off the whole week between Christmas and New Year's but with maternity leave coming up I don't want to waste the leave days (again).
  • @gowenc i completely understand your struggle. I have PTO available until the 1st, but it doesn't roll over. I have 12 weeks FMLA allotted to me, but we get a week paid per year we have been here so out of those i will get 3 weeks, plus my sick days and the 2 weeks we get paid vacation...which leaves me about 6 weeks paid of the 12 so with that being the case....this is gonna be a rough 3 months. i scheduled my first 3rd trimester appointment and only day times were available, so in order for me to not use my PTO i will be having to work extra hours at work to make up the time. This probably would have been easier early pregnancy and not now when i am starting to feel like a boat and moving in slow motion. but alas...like you said, the things we think of (and do) as mothers.
  • I agree, it’s stupid that I have to choose between taking sick days now or being able to get paid while recovering from childbirth. That was one of my first thoughts when I found out I’ll need extra appointments and growth scans with the specialists.

As it is I’ll have 1 1/2 weeks sick leave, whatever vacation I accrue between now and then, and then 2 months of STDI paid at 60%. I keep stressing to MH that we need to save for my maternity leave but that hasn’t yet slowed his holiday spending. I’ve been pinching every penny I can find and he already knows our tax refund is going to savings.

  • @meggyme I hear you on the holiday spending. DH and I talked several weeks ago about keeping it low key this year given that I'd like to take a long leave, and that will mean at least a month of it is totally unpaid. He went all out, and it's stressing me out. I just spent two hours doing income/savings projections for several different scenarios. I think we'll be okay but we have to do some serious belt tightening after the new year.
  • Due Date: March 21

    Questions?: none currently

    Rants/Raves?:

rant: dealing with heartburn after everything I eat or drink. I had heartburn before being pregnant but this feels like next level heartburn.

Rave: I've seemed to pass my glucose test based on online results (but haven't recieved confirmation from my doctor yet).

How are you feeling?: overall pretty good. Some days I feel bigger and some days I feel like myself.

GTKY: What do you plan on doing to bring in the New Year this year? Probably not much. My DH and I may have some people over our place but no plans to go out.

@gowenc I hope you feel bettersoon!!
  • @gowenc sounds familiar. I thought we were only getting each other a spa day in Palm Springs and that was it, then he bought me a bunch of stuff and bought himself a bunch of stuff... and he’s still shopping today while he’s visiting friends in UT. We will also be buckling down in the new year.

  • Due Date: 3/19 re-dated to 3/28

    Questions?: Nope!

Rants/Raves?: Looking forward to a hospital tour on Friday, but I'm not sure yet if it's where we'll deliver. I haven't chosen a provider yet! It's my goal for January. I'm being picky this time around.

How are you feeling?: Feeling great! Just some hard/uncomfortable jabs from baby. Anyone else ever worry they're going to "pop" your water with some of these hard hits? Ugh

GTKY: What do you plan on doing to bring in the New Year this year? Maybe some ice fishing and other winter activities.
  • Due Date: 3/22

    Questions?:

Rants/Raves?: I mentioned this in the glucose thread but I passed the 3 hr but was told the 1 hr draw was "quite high" and I need to watch my carbs/sugars.

How are you feeling?: Hips have started to kill me at night from sleeping on my sides.  A pillow in between my knees doesn't help.  We went to costco tonight and spent $140 on a gel mattress topper, hoping it helps some.  Pregnancy congestion is still terrible.  Oh and lovely constipation.

GTKY: What do you plan on doing to bring in the New Year this year? No plans.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @lisee923 that was the case with my first pregnancy. I failed the first hour of the 3hr test, but unless you fail 2 they won’t diagnose you. This time I definitely failed the first and second hour.

  • Due Date: 3/17

    Questions?: none

Rants/Raves?: Christmas was really meh this year. We didn’t travel to see family and 3/4 of us have been sick all week. We started potty training my daughter yesterday so that’s also been fun 🙄

How are you feeling?: ok. Feeling bigger and it’s getting harder to move.

GTKY: What do you plan on doing to bring in the New Year this year? I’m not sure. The past couple of years we have hosted but I’m not sure I’m up to it this year.

  • @Runninggal28 we're also in the midst of potty training and it's super exhausting. I'm hoping DS has it down by March and doesn't regress when the baby comes.
