Any appointments? Questions?: Regular OB on Friday. Every two weeks now. Had a follow up ultrasound last week and the placenta has moved! Also, everything looking normal and is measuring on track. It was very good to hear. Baby was not cooperating with seeing her face, and at one time had hand, foot, and cord all in front, so didn't get a great look. But, of course, we thought it was so cute. Haha.
Rants/Raves?: MH took me to see The Nutcracker ballet this weekend and it was such a lovely evening. We also had his work Christmas party, and we won $50 plus a bunch of steaks & seafood! Lol. It was so nice getting dressed up and socializing. I am so tired today, but totally worth it. Avoiding ranting this week.
How are you feeling?: I'm doing fine. Back pain and insomnia are the worst of my worries, so all in all feeling pretty lucky at this point. We aren't going anywhere for the holiday, so I am looking forward to relaxing this weekend.
GTKY: Favorite holiday movie? So, UO but I don't really like Christmas movies. However, the exception to this rule is Elf, so I'll go with that one.
Any appointments? Questions?: Just had my regular appointment this past Friday and on every two weeks for now. She said there were no concerns about my numbers from my recent labs, so that was good. But my blood pressure was up to 132/78 at this appointment, which she said is "normal". But my normal is more like 106/60, so it is still considered high. We are going to wait and see what happens but looking at my trends from last time once I got up this high there was no going back down and my numbers just kept creeping up. This is early compared to last time, I didn't have symptoms until almost 36 weeks. So being this early I'll most likely end up with restrictions or bed rest and I'll be induced by 39 weeks.
Rants/Raves?: DH has been super helpful this past week with my increase in symptoms, so I'm glad he is stepping in to help a little more. My only rant is we planned to go out Saturday to my fave restaurant which has been closed for two months. We got there and they were only taking reservations and nothing was available. I cried a little. Then we realized later after trying to get in a few other places that it was graduation at the university so obviously things were booked! Next time for sure!
How are you feeling?: I've been feeling awful actually and it hit me pretty quickly. I can't get up and do a whole lot without being out of breathe or my heart racing. I can't even walk from my car in a parking lot to get to a door without dying. Also if I am talking too much I get winded easily. I had to limit myself to two chores a day over the weekend and that was all I was able to do each day. So I've been mostly hanging out with my feet up on the couch and that is when I feel totally normal.
GTKY: Favorite holiday movie? As a kid we always watched Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer every year. Now I have to watch Elf while wrapping presents. It has not happened yet, but it will before next week!
@lalalauren15 Congrats on the moved placenta and normal scan results!
Due date: 3/2
Any appointments? Questions?: Every 2 weeks now so next appointment is next week.
Rants/Raves?: Rant: I am really annoyed with how my appointments went last week. I'm annoyed that I wasn't told to hydrate well before my glucose screen, which probably would have saved me some of my light headedness and discomfort, and annoyed that I was denied any water whatsoever until the test was done since it seems like other people have been allowed water. I felt awful all day aftery glucose test and was drinking water pretty much constantly to make up for what the sugar sucked out of me. I'm also annoyed that I have another scan scheduled to check the growth of the baby (his weight is estimated in the 93rd percentile even though NONE of his other measurements are in the 90+ percentile. How does that work?!) and my amniotic fluid but the bigger the baby, the less accurate the measurements so how much stock can we really put into measurements at a 32 week ultrasound anyway when my 28 week one had a gestational margin of error of +/- 21 days!? And my amniotic fluid in one quadrant was just enough to give me the polyhydramnios label even though my total fluid is within normal. I'm just really frustrated with the extra monitoring and worries planted in my brain that could very well be nothing. Sorry for being a negative Nelly, this week. I need a break in the worst way. 😣
Rave: I love evenings on the couch when LO is moving a lot and DH can rest his hand on my stomach. It's his father-son bonding time for now and I just love these moments.
How are you feeling?: See above, annoyed and frustrated. TDAP also made me achey all over so adding that to my regular insomnia and I have not been sleeping well at all. Turning over in bed also has become much more of a struggle lately and all my bras have been feeling really tight on my rib cage even though I recently bought new ones with a bigger band size.
GTKY: Favorite holiday movie? I also am not big on holiday movies. I do enjoy Love Actually and we watch Christmas Vacation every year (mostly for DH) but there's not a movie I *have* to see each holiday season.
Any appointments? Questions?: next appointment is the 28th
Rants/Raves?: DH gave our fireplace a quick makeover and I’m so happy with how it turned out. Our kitchen floors were also done this week and I’m so in love with the new tile. We had brick floors which aren’t exactly my style. Side note: we bought our house over the summer and have been doing little updates since.
How are you feeling?: I'm just really tired. I’ve been waking up at 3 am 6/7 nights a week and sometimes I fall back asleep and sometimes I don’t.
GTKY: Favorite holiday movie? Love Actually and The original Grinch
Any appointments? Questions?: next appointment is the 26th
Rants/Raves?: Rant: Horrible nightmares all weekend ugh. Raves: Super glad I got to spend the weekend with my parents and brothers.
How are you feeling?: Tired, getting used to aches and pains, allergies are horrible. I think I'm going to have to start taking it a little more easy, I'm used to driving all over and doing things on the weekend. Its not unusual for me to drive 2 hrs to see my family in one day and I think that is coming to a halt lol
GTKY: Favorite holiday movie? Old cartoons, Frosty and Charlie Brown
@mayoduck I was also refused water while waiting for my test. Made no sense to me considering I was told I didn't have to fast so 30 min before appt I was scarfing down eggs and a pancake.
Any appointments? Questions?: First appointment of the third trimester tomorrow, and will be going twice a month after.
Rants/Raves?: My anxiety has been pretty high lately. Unintentionally, I keep stumbling upon articles and blogs about women who lost their babies in the third trimester. So of course when I don't feel LO move for a a little bit I freak out. This morning around 3:30am I woke up and just panicked because I thought it seemed like I hadn't felt him move since I went to be around 10. I got up and moved around and poked at him/talked to him for a while and when he still didn't move I was packing up to go to the ER. Then he started moving. I guess he was sleeping pretty well but it still scared me. Anyone else having a lot of anxiety like that?
Rave: I have finally managed to get my blood sugars in check after being diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Despite following the meal plan and exercising, it wasn't helping so they've put me on metformin and a slow acting insulin therapy at night. My numbers have been nearly perfect since. Thank goodness.
How are you feeling?: Like I said above, anxious mainly. And of course the normal tired and achy that has been around for several weeks now.
GTKY: Favorite holiday movie? "It's a Wonderful Life" is a movie that I always watch on Christmas Eve and my all-time favorite. But I tend to watch several holiday movies throughout December, even if they're just on as background noise while I do other things.
@cancer2988 I had a lot of anxiety with my first and every once in a while, I start overthinking the movements and go into panic mode. Try drinking cold juice and lying down when you don’t feel movement. It’s worked well for me any time I’ve needed to do it.
Any appointments? Questions?: next appointment is 1/2 it’s a growth scan ultrasound and regular appointment but I also need to call and schedule my 3 hour glucose test (bummer!)
Rants/Raves?: Rave: My insurance company waived me from from the lab work/biometric screening so I didn’t have to worry about fasting for even more labs.
Not necessarily a rant but DS and DH have been sick. Vomiting and high fevers ... it’s a lot to manage and DH rarely ever gets sick so he’s definitely not the “man cold” type. I’m sure it’s because we did all of our family traditional outings last week (took DS to see Santa, went to a train display, etc)
How are you feeling?: I’m doing much better than I was mid last week. Last week I was dealing with a lot of doctor appointments, labs, etc. so it’s nice to have a “break” this week. But my biggest symptom right now is Braxton Hicks they have come almost every night for the past week and they stay for an hour or longer. It’s irritating because that’s my time to clean the house, play with DS, do laundry, etc and I end up on the couch or bed to get rid of them.
GTKY: Favorite holiday movie? Oh so many! We have to watch The Santa Claus every year for tradition purposes and we also watch Elf while wrapping presents. We also always watch Christmas vacation and The Polar Express. Growing up my brother and I loved I’ll be home for Christmas with Jonathon Tyler Thomas (we watched it multiple times in the month of December) so if I catch it on TV or something I’ll watch that one too because it’s just a good memory.
@cancer2988 I have definitely woken some early mornings concerned that I hadn't felt LO that night. He almost always has an active period in the middle of the night. I think I probably sleep through it sometimes though. DH goes to bed after me and says there have been times when he put his hand on my belly and LO has kicked him back pretty actively.
Any appointments? Questions?: regular check up tomorrow (and switch to every 2 weeks) but my regular doc is out of the office so I will meet one of her 2 partners in the practice. It's probably good so that if she's not available when I go into labor I have a 50/50 chance of knowing the doctor who will be there.
Rants/Raves?: I'm nervous about the tdap shot tomorrow. I usually faint with shots, there has literally only been 1 shot in the last decade that didn't make me faint.
How are you feeling?: excited to not be pregnant anymore and to meet this baby, hahah. I found a new workout subscription that I started yesterday (it's $15/month for 5 sets of workouts per week all prenatal safe) and I hope it helps me be more consistently active. I am pretty sore today but in a good way. Definitely feeling the interrupted sleep, frequent peeing and continuing to be annoyed by some skin break outs.
GTKY: Favorite holiday movie? Does Harry Potter count? Or Mean Girls? We are Jewish so we don't really do typical holiday movies.
Any appointments? Questions?: No more appointments until 12/24
Rants/Raves?:
Rant: I am sick, and on top of it, have a condition with my immune system where I get the worst hives and my eyes swell shut if I don't take a zyrtec every night (and I am allergic to nothing, so it's extra frustrating). I've been on that refining since early spring, and this week my eyes have started burning and itching to the point where they're waking me up at night so I have to up my dosage of antihistamines. Also, waiting at the doctor's office right now and someone else in this waiting room smells like they haven't showered in a month and are possibly in a state of decay. Barf.
How are you feeling?: pretty heavy and just icky from this cold
GTKY: Favorite holiday movie?
Home Alone or Elf!
@lalalauren15 yeah for moving placentas and free steaks and seafood!!!
@novelblessings I hope your blood pressure stays under control. I would have cried, too, about the restaurant! Nothing like a let down, esp when you're pregnant and it involves food.
Any appointments? Questions?: Though I’ve hit third trimester, we’re going to wait another month before my next midwife appointment due to holidays. Anyone remember if they need to get the DTAP shot every pregnancy?
Rants/Raves?: Just so happy to have reached third trimester.
How are you feeling?: So large. My butt, and thighs, and arms. AND I’m one of those woman that don’t lose weight when nursing. Sigh.
@lalalauren15 Yay for the placenta moving! That is great news!
@mayoduck I'm sorry you have all the extra monitoring. I had extra last time and I hated it. I am probably headed that way too. I would put much stock in the measurements at this point, just the fluid levels.
@cancer2988 This is my second and I still freak out about movement. LO was a little sluggish over the weekend but is back to kicking up a storm today. I was reading they sometimes just move or they are sleeping extra that day.
@abbykwail Wishing you luck with your Tdap tomorrow. I hate needles too.
@BuckeyeNut05 I am hoping it just stays at this level too so I can keep cooking to full term. I'm sorry you are sick. DH is sick today as well and I am crossing my fingers and toes DD and I do not get what he has because he has the stomach bug.
@LoboandSuperNinja yes, you need to get it every pregnancy. I just had mine last year for credentialing purposes at work, and my OB told me I need to get it specifically while pregnant so the baby would see the benefits.
Appointment: This Wednesday...just a general prenatal
Rants/Raves: When I took the 1 hr. Glucose test the nurse called and said I failed and might as well not take the 3 hours because I wouldn't pass it. I told her I would rather take it and wouldn't you know...I passed!
Feeling: Pretty good...some strong Braxton Hicks off and on! I'm trying to stay hydrated!
@chocolatelemons weird question but your husband doesn’t post to imgur does he? There was a husband showing off a redone fireplace for a pregnant wife on there and it looked incredible!!
Due date: 3/1
Any appointments? Questions?: Failed the one hour glucose test by a small fraction (just like last pregnancy) now I have to go in for the 3 hour and hopefully pass like last time
Rants/Raves?: Well I’m not sleeping great like most of us, and on top of that my 4y/o has LOST HIS MIND this week. Usually he’s pretty stubborn about eating but will at least eat green beans or fruit. He will not eat anything this week, even his self proclaimed favorite foods, and is throwing tantrums about it. This has cause a lot of problems with DH who has a zero tolerance policy for tantrums, which I generally do too, but it’s the week before Christmas and I just want a little peace lol. I’m hoping everything chills out after the holiday.
How are you feeling?: Tired and large
GTKY: Favorite holiday movie? Muppet Christmas Carol hands down
Any appointments? Questions? Not until after the holidays.
Rants/Raves? My whole house is sick. I took the day off on Friday to take care of my little one, then soldiered through the weekend sick, and now my husband has the man flu. Everyone gets a day off to rest except Mama. I guess the rave is that hopefully we will all get it out of our systems before the holiday.
How are you feeling? Starting to feel very third trimester. My back hurts, I am out of breath, and the insomnia is kicking in. Really looking forward to 10 days off for the holiday to rest.
GTKY: Favorite holiday movie? Love Actually and White Christmas
Any appointments? Questions?: Midwife appointment this afternoon
Rants/Raves?: Rave: Well I made it through the wedding alive! It was obviously stressful and exhausting but everything went pretty smoothly. It was very casual - the ceremony and dinner were at the same restaurant on the boardwalk at the NJ shore and then everyone went over to an arcade afterwards. I was afraid a lot of people would be uncomfortable having an arcade afterparty and no dancing but everyone had a lot of fun which is all I really wanted. We also used our wedding cake to reveal the baby's sex to everybody which most people loved.. I personally think these types of reveals are goofy but other people like them and I think guests felt special that they were the first ones to know. I wasn't thrilled with my hair and makeup and felt a little larger than I would have liked, but we had a good photographer so hopefully he was able to take a few pictures of me that I don't hate!
Rant: My rant is that about my MIL.... Her husband (my husband's father) died several months after we met which was almost 6 years ago. She's a rather attractive 50 year old and has been dating guys on and off for a few years (which I hear WAY too much about because she has no filter). She didn't tell us until last minute whether she was bringing a guy to the wedding or not, then she said she wasn't, so we gave our final headcount to the caterer. The night before the wedding she texts my husband and asks if she can bring someone. We said NOPE! too late. Then she says "but his name is Brian and I think it's a really good sign". Brian was the name of her late husband... and apparently this was just some guy she met at a hotel bar. Anyways, we again told her sorry, no. So he didn't show up to the dinner, but she did invite him to the arcade afterwards. She also spent much of the night at the arcade drunk and talking to my husband's friends about horrible dating experiences she's had which was making him really uncomfortable. I was ready to go to bed around 11:30pm and other people were either going to bed or going to another bar. I made it extremely clear that I wanted to go to bed with my new husband, but he said he needed to talk to his mom first. I went to bed alone and he came up at 2am sobbing because of the conversation he had with his mother. I was really angry at both of them all night, barely got any sleep, and just woke up pissed at the situation. I've always tried to bite my tongue around the MIL to keep the peace but I don't know if I'm going to be able to have much patience with her if we see her again anytime soon. She acts like an obnoxious, insensitive teenager and has her head so far up her own butt. I try really hard to see the positives but I'm starting to really not like the woman. Luckily she lives hours away or this would be more of an issue. Ugh. Okay, that was longer than I thought it would be.
How are you feeling?: Relieved that the wedding is over but I still feel like I'm recovering sleep-wise. I need to switch mental gears from wedding planning to focusing more on work and baby planning. Physically, I'm feeling okay - just a little bigger and more uncomfortable every day!
GTKY: Favorite holiday movie? When I was a kid I liked the classics.. Rudolph and The Grinch cartoon. I also used to watch A Christmas Story every year with my grandma. Honestly, the only holiday movie I'd probably really enjoy watching now is Scrooged with Bill Murray haha.
@bug_hunter Big congratulations on the wedding! I'm sorry the night ended so poorly, though. You have every right to be angry with your MIL for that type of behavior. Wedding guests are not owed the privilege of a +1 and no means no!
An arcade reception sounds super fun! What a great idea!
@mayoduck@maggiemadeit Thank you both! I'm mostly nervous about how I'm going to deal with this woman once there's a kid. This will be her first grandchild and I know she's excited but I'm secretly hoping she's too lazy to visit us often. Not only is she vain and self-absorbed, but she's a judgmental conspiracy theorist (she just borrowed $6,000 from an ex-boyfriend to get old fillings removed because she was convinced they were killing her). She can be loving and goofy and personable, as well, but I'm REALLY struggling to deal with the more toxic elements of her personality right now. Blah. I know I'm definitely not the only one with in-law problems, though!!
Due date: March 9, but RCS is scheduled for March 6
Any appointments? Questions?: I had my 3-hour glucose test yesterday. My fasting result was 3 points from out of standard and the rest were good.
Rants/Raves?: Two more work days left until Christmas break! I will have a student teacher for the first 8 weeks of the semester, so I’m looking forward to having some help at school during this last stretch.
How are you feeling?: I’m okay. I had some rough moments last week with crying because I feel like this pregnancy is keeping me from being a fair partner to DH and the mom I want to be to DD. I’m super impatient and cranky to boot.
GTKY: Favorite holiday movie?
I have to watch The Family Stone, The Holiday, and Love Actually around Christmas.
@bug_hunter wow I would be so upset at MIL and DH for disregarding my wishes. I’m sorry that she caused so much drama! Sounds like you had fun overall though and I think the arcade sounds like a blast!
@novelblessings I made it through the vaccine without passing out!! This is only the second shot in ten years that has been ok! The CNAs were so nice and great at distracting me that I didn't feel the actual needle, just the pressure change when they were done! Now I am taking it easy on the couch while DH makes dinner. Thanks for sending good thoughts! As @mayoduck said, my arm is already achey, I hope it doesn't spread.
@bug_hunter I would be so upset at both of them. Especially because you talked to your husband ahead of time about coming to bed at the same time as you! Congratulations on your wedding, though! I hope you are able to set up some healthy boundaries with your MIL in the next few months!
@abbykwail Glad you survived! @bug_hunter Congrats on your wedding! I don’t have anything to add on the MIL front other than I get it. I’ve been dealing with mine for over 10 years now and she lives 5 minutes from us.
Thanks to everyone else who chimed in with congrats/sympathies on how the wedding went!
We were considering naming the kid after my husband's late father but now that the MIL is dating a dude with his name, it feels kind of weird. She's coming over in a week because our house is on the way to visit this new guy and I am dreading seeing her. I feel kind of selfish for not wanting to see her over the holidays but I still feel so bitter. I've been dealing with her for 6 years now and it's funny that as soon as she officially became my MIL, I suddenly can't stand the thought of her haha.

Due date: March 3rd
Any appointments? Questions?: Though I’ve hit third trimester, we’re going to wait another month before my next midwife appointment due to holidays. Anyone remember if they need to get the DTAP shot every pregnancy?
Rants/Raves?: Just so happy to have reached third trimester.
How are you feeling?: So large. My butt, and thighs, and arms. AND I’m one of those woman that don’t lose weight when nursing. Sigh.
GTKY: Favorite holiday movie? Eh, Die Hard!
GTKY: I love Elf!
Muppet Christmas Carol hands down
Due date: March 5/March 11
Due date: 3/1
Any appointments?
An arcade reception sounds super fun! What a great idea!
@bug_hunter I would be so upset at both of them. Especially because you talked to your husband ahead of time about coming to bed at the same time as you! Congratulations on your wedding, though! I hope you are able to set up some healthy boundaries with your MIL in the next few months!
@bug_hunter Congrats on your wedding! I don’t have anything to add on the MIL front other than I get it. I’ve been dealing with mine for over 10 years now and she lives 5 minutes from us.
