Ollie, our Hawaiian bug-hunting cat (we got him in Hawaii to deal with the bugs in the house, which his did very well, and the obviously brought him stateside when we moved back east. He hates the snow)


Libby, our super neurotic border collie who my husband jokes he got so he could meet women, and look, it worked! I showed up 8 weeks after he got her, haha.


Jax, our old man kitty that is actually only about 5, but he acts like he’s ancient. He moved to Hawaii and back with us.

This is Storm. She is our 9 year old Great Dane. She is pretty confident that she is a lap dog. 

And this is Apple. She is two years old. She actually belongs to my work but comes home with me every night. She is a court house facility dog.

I have four dogs, but these are my poodles, Jake and Elwood. we have been telling them to get in bed and tucking them in at night since they were puppies, and they’re turning 5 in April. Jake is the blonde, Elwood the redhead. I won’t lie, though: Elwood is my special boy. I love him so much

These are our girls. Bailey is our 6 year old Chocolate lab mix. I got her out of a box at a gas station when she was a tiny pup. Voodoo is our pit mix and she'll be two on Christmas. We adopted her from a local rescue last year.

Susan, the naughty torty I got to keep Bob company when we stopped being Airbnb hosts. Ohhhh what a mistake that was! She’s such a terror and bullies him constantly.

Bonnie, our bull mastiff-bull Arab, the most loveable large breed dog you’ll ever meet. Super placid with children and just wants all the love all the time. She also thinks she’s a lap dog 😂

@BlondePeanut awww that’s adorable. I hope that’s how my doggies are with baby!

@chrssyms I was so nervous at first, especially when DD was a baby. But from the moment we came home from the hospital they knew to be gentle and protective of her. It was amazing. Granted I don't leave them unattended but I never had any moments where I was worried with their interactions. Now that DD is almost 2, she can sometimes be more rough than she should, so that is my current hurdle, but she is learning and the dogs will just get up and go in the other room where the baby gate is set up so they can get their own space. That is one thing I would suggest is making sure they have somewhere that they can claim as their own space where LO can't get to them so they don't feel overwhelmed. My coonhound tries to snuggle up with her all the time, it's so cute.

@BlondePeanut thanks! That’s probably really good advice. My dogs are silly and they seem to get fomo, so they’d rather torture themselves or be miserable rather than miss out. We are actually going to get a dog trainer to help my younger pup. Little kids and scooters give her anxiety, so we’re hoping some behavioral training will help her to chill out a bit so that baby doesn’t freak her out. Plus, maybe it’ll just make her a happier, calmer pup
