UO 12/13

My UO today is that I don't remember there being so many weird "holidays" as a kid. National Donut Day, National Dog Day, National Sibling Day... is that just a social media thing?

@meggyme ya, I think it is, also it’s super easy to submit for a national day, so I think the number of random days has exploded.
My UO I don’t like New Year’s Eve. It’s over rated and I honestly don’t mind staying home and pretty much doing nothing. DH and I haven’t even stayed up till midnight the past couple of years... 🤷‍♀️

@lelkcot I don't believe that's a uo. If so, it's mine too. I don't think I've stayed up since college sophomore year.

@lelkcot @Kenneylynn3 I like to stay is, but I do not enjoy going out. We’re going out with some friends we haven’t seen in a few years this NYE and I’m only half looking forward to it.

@lelkcot it's interesting, because I'm originally from eastern europe and there, because of the russian influence, we didn't really celebrate Christmas - instead, New Year was the big thing. And even Santa would bring the presents that night! And people would either go outside to celebrate at a big concert in the center of the city or spend the evening with their families. (plus we had 2 christmases and 2 new years - one by the "new" calendar and one by the old orthodox calendar in January).

@lelkcot I agree! I'd much rather stay home on New Year's! MH's uncle put on a huge party and in laws are in town so we don't get much of a choice. This year I maybe using my pregnancy as a case to leave early

@lelkcot I agree. I've never gone out for NYE. We stay at home and DH makes me watch the ball drop. I usually fall asleep on the couch and he will wake me up 10 minutes prior, pour champagne, then I go back to bed.

@lelkcot i used to be a big NYE party person when i was younger and in college...now, i much rather stay home and watch tv. The last few years i have been big on making vision boards for the upcoming year...this year told my SO i just wanna stay in, eat something good and watch tv. I like staying up till midnight to call my mom and sis, but i will most likely be sleep soon after LOL

😂 sounds like my UO was not so unpopular! Glad I’m not alone in my desire to stay home on NYE!

Yep!! I’m with everyone on staying in! When DH and I first got married we always threw a party for friends at our house but anymore we just stay home. Sometimes we have some family that live near us over to play games but it’s only like 2-3 people.

Wow! Well, I guess my UO is that I do actually like to be out with friends on NYE (but not at a club or NY Times Square or anything crazy; usually we'll just all be hanging out at someone's house). And I'm a pretty extreme introvert, so it's weird I'm going against the grain with this one. DH and I are both natural night owls and stay up until midnight pretty routinely most nights so the lateness is not a big deal to us either.
