Good morning ladies!

AF showed up yesterday so we'll be moving on to IUI this month. I'll be calling the RE to schedule the baseline blood work and US. As always, both nervous and excited to be doing this.

QOTW: What's your favorite holiday/winter tradition?
DH and I last year went to the zoo Christmas day and that was quite fun. We've also for the last 2 years now gone to a hockey game the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. They're small things, but it's something not a lot of people do and DH hates large crowds so it's perfect.

@inthewoods23 - good luck on your first IUI! I hope everything goes smoothly and isn’t too overwhelming! 

@PoeMasque - good for you for actually having the guts to tell your co-worker about how annoying she was being with all the kid talk. I’ve daydreamed so many times about confronting co-workers, friends, family, etc. but there’s never a good moment and I also have shied away lately from opening up to people. I’ve just had too many stupid comments from people lately who do know what I’m going through. Also, I’m sorry to hear about the BFN! Hope this next round will be successful! 

@prpl11butterfly - good luck at your initial RE appointment this week! I know you were asking for advice, so I would say ask as many questions and ask again for clarification if you need (I’ve asked the same question at an appointment like three times to make sure I understand totally). Let us know how it goes! 

@ChristenMA83 - how are you doing as you near the 18th? Not too far away! Really hoping this is it for you! 

(Also, on a side note: my DX is irregular cycles and low morph and RX is Letrozole.) 

AFM: just in the TWW. AF is due around the 20th. Right now I’m in the head space of just expecting AF to arrive; I think it’s getting hard sometimes to imagine a different outcome as it’s always the same outcome. 

QOTW: I always enjoy decorating the tree with Christmas carols, chocolates, and eggnog. DH always puts the hooks on the ornaments and I decorate - seems to work well lol.

@inthewoods23 sorry that you have to move onto IUI but at least having a plan in place can make it slightly easier to swallow when AF shows up. I hope that works quickly for you!

@sincethelastday yea, that mindset it hard to shake. Maybe it will make it extra exciting when the time comes (which I hope is very very near). Alson we have the same ornament hanging arrangement!

Afm... I'm going stir crazy waiting for Thur. I googled some reviews for my RE. Hes either a total d#^% or 2 people were just really scorned patients because they left awful reviews on multiple sites. 1 post actually said he doesnt beleive in female hormone imbalances. Ummm... that's like his speciality... I dunno. I did find another who got all good reviews if I'm not comfortable with this one.

@prpl11butterfly surprisingly I was like "eh, well I guess I'll need to call the RE on Monday when AF showed up." It's not heartbreaking anymore because I expect it now. Which is also sad when you think about it. Reviews of our RE say she's good, others say she's a bit short with people. All the RNs are super nice do I'm kind of like alright, if I don't have to deal with her too much and she just doesn the IUI I think I can deal with it. Last month's baseline BW and US I didn't even see her so I'm sure I won't have to coming up here.

AFM: I'm just doing my meds and waiting for the transfer date.  I have my lining check tomorrow so I'm anxious to see how that's coming along.  Then I'll start PIO on Thursday.  Meds have been a bit of a debacle this time around.  First the local pharmacy didn't fill one of the prescriptions because they showed it counteracted one of my other prescriptions (estrace) so I started the Letrezole a day late.  THEN our PIO and Ovidrel was delayed by fedex due to weather, but thankfully I was a week ahead on ordering that so no real issue.  Then last night I realized I was supposed to take one pill twice a day and I've only been taking it once a day...but it's turned out not to a big deal either.

Sorry for the ramble....this cycle is just a little off for me, but it might be that I just have a ton of other stuff on my mind.

@ChristenMA83 thanks for that site! He only has 3 reviews there but they are better then what I read this weekend! Fully feel you on the ton of stuff on the mind. I'm likely going to be useless at work this week....  Would the MA in your SN happen to represent a certain state? Okay to not acknowledge that Q, I'm just curious since it could for me 😉  Anywho..... FX that your lining is coming along beautifully! I'm guessing your transfer date is coming up quickly?

@inthewoods23 I'm wondering if not seeing the actual RE is fairly standard practice...

@prpl11butterfly - yeah, I think that’s one of the few positives when it comes to IF is that I think I’ll feel more thrilled and elated if I get a positive HPT compared to if I had never dealt with this. 

I hope you have a good first impression and experience with your RE! When’s the actual appointment date? Yeah, it’s always hard to know how much to read into reviews as I always wonder how picky or non-picky each reviewer is lol. 

@ChristenMA83 - sorry to hear all of the little inconveniences and blunders that have come along with this cycle! Seriously is the last thing you need going through a treatment cycle I’m sure! Thanks for listing that link as well; I wonder if it shows Canadian RE’s as well - going to look it up!

@ChristenMA83 thanks for the site! Looks like mine has a score of 8 with 44% strongly recommending. Just with the nature of IF I can see how some people feel like doctors don't provide any answers (what someone said in their review). On the clinic's website she's got above a 4.0 rating out of 5.0. My only problem is that we wait forever for our appointments with her. For our "what's next" appointment we waited until 20 minutes past the scheduled time before we went in to see her and then we only needed to talk to her for like 10 minutes.

Baseline BW and US is scheduled for the AM tomorrow.

I'm glad you all found the FertilityIQ sight helpful.  The reviews are great because they're guided with specific questions instead of random thoughts.  The articles are great as well.  They dedicate so much time to research.  It's interesting to me because some of the things I like or don't like about a clinic may be the opposite for someone else.  I'm lucky to live in an area with several options.  I've been to two different clinics that to me where a night & day difference but they have very similar ratings on the sight.

@prpl11butterfly Nope, I live in Ohio.  The MA are my middle and last initial.

AFM: Lining was 10 this morning at 7 days before FET, it was 9 at 8 days before on the transfer where we were successful...so I'm going to take this as a positive.  Just waiting on blood results to ensure we're still on schedule for the 18th.

QOTW: We do a gift game exchange with dice for our close extended family and that is so much fun!  Everyone brings a wrapped gift and we pass those out.  Then we go around the circle rolling dice until all gifts are unwrapped (kinda Left-Right-Center with gifts). 1-keep gift or roll again, 2-all pass right, 3-all pass left, 4-steal any gift, 5 unwrap your gift, 6-unwrap any gift.

Appointment went well this morning. Everything looked good in the US. No cysts! Going to be starting letrozole today and the midcycle US will be on the 20th. I'm a bit worried about O being near Christmas as they're closed that day. Hopefully we can have the IUI done Christmas Eve or, even better, any day after Christmas. Cycle predictions have O after Christmas but I know for some people they can O earlier than normal when taking letrozole.

Does anyone have any experience with change in O being on letrozole?

@inthewoods23 - glad to hear your appointment went well overall - I hope the timing all works out for you! 

I have found I O earlier on Letrozole than when I wasn’t on it. I also have had a wide range of when I O naturally without being on medication, so if you have a more consistent O pattern around the CD 13-15 day mark, perhaps it will be around the same time you usually do?

Seems like everyone is in the thick of it this cycle! 

CD1 for me today. To add salt to the wound a friend called me for advice after finding out *TW* her beta was low, but positive *end TW* it just wasn’t what I wanted to talk about on CD1 and was hard to be positive, which is what she really needed. 

QOTW: we don’t really have any holiday traditions since we aren’t religious and don’t have family near. We both grew up making cookies with our families, so we might do that this year. I actually kind of like that we do nothing, we are the least stressed people we know this time of year!

@PoeMasque ugh, that's tough and definitely hard to listen to. That's right up there with having to hear pregnant people complain about aches and pains, morning sickness, etc. I would take that any day over being not pregnant!

@PoeMasque and @inthewoods23 - yeah, I totally relate! I had a co-worker come into the office yesterday with her 3 month old and she was going on about how lonely being a new mom is. And although I’m sure it can be, I couldn’t help but think that I would take that loneliness instead of the crushing loneliness and isolation of infertility.
